"I visited this restaurant as part of a Christmas crawl in Croydon. It used to be a Whelan house, so I didn't have high expectations for the beer quality. We ordered 10 pints of Guinness, along with other drinks, from a very unenthusiastic server. She never spoke, smiled, or engaged with us. Even the manager walked past without saying a word... where was the Irish hospitality? As promised, the Guinness was mediocre, so we had one drink and left. There were a few patrons watching sports, but we found that another bar nearby, The Ship (rockers bar), served better Guinness with friendlier staff. It used to be a Fuller's pub, which was much better."

We had a great experience at The Spread Eagle in Croydon during our lunch stop. The service was friendly, the food was very good, and the drinks were nice, all at a reasonable price.

Fab Central Croydon Pub now run by A.K.W. Whelans . Weekend Bands and D.J's . Staff are all friendly and hospitable. Always a pleasure and never a chore to help with your request and requirements

Although the environment has improved since Whelans took over I was not impressed with the beer or the food. Our burgers were overcooked and the London Pride wasn't that clear in the glass. We won't be coming here again. View menu

Since Whelans took over, the TVs are better. However, I use to frequent here before Covid for the German beer Veltins Pilser on tap of which has been omitted which is extremely disappointing. Veltins was very very popular. Very popular indeed. Please please bring this beer back.

It was my first visit at this pub and I was delighted. From the moment I step in there it was inviting, I felt welcome. I didn't have any issues placing my order, all staff there is attentive and friendly. The manager of this pub poured the best Guinness I ever tasted Thank you for the experience.

We called in for a family reunion and drinks only. Security on the door was reassuring and we experienced a good atmosphere inside. Customers were watching a world cup rugby match and the banter was friendly. Great choice of draught beers and cider served by friendly and efficient staff. We were last here some years ago and it is nice to see the character of this lovely old building maintained. View menu

I pop in now and again to the spread-eagle and without a doubt I always have an amazing experience. the beer selection is top notch and the food is always a 10/10. although the best part of my visits are always my interactions with staff especially the two lovely young ladies on the bar (I believe their names are Pauline and Chantel). Good conversation and excellent service makes the pub! all staff are very polite and helpful would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Croydon

The atmosphere was pleasant, but the food was disappointing. The menu described the dish as fish with seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes, but the potatoes were small and looked shriveled and rubbery rather than roasted. The seasonal vegetables included carrots (which were okay) and an unidentified green vegetable that looked limp and slimy. The portion of red cabbage was also small and not enjoyable. Despite being given a free coffee, the meal was expensive at nearly £17. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
