"I recently had lunch at this bistro with a close friend. The restaurant was very clean and the outdoor dining area was beautiful. We ordered the salmon, cream cheese and watercress sandwich, as well as a fish finger sandwich. The host, Miguel, was incredibly charming and the lovely lady cooking the meals (I didn't catch her name) was delightful and clearly took pride in her work. The potato salad and red cabbage slaw that came with the sandwiches were delicious. I also took home a slice of cake for my husband, which was fantastic. The cakes are fabulous and there is a great selection. If you live in Cheadle and haven't been to The Summerhouse, you're missing out! I noticed they also offer a hot lunch option with crusty bread on the daily menu, which I will definitely try on my next visit. Thank you to Miguel and the lovely blonde chef for the wonderful experience."

We stopped on our way to Alton Towers to explore Cheadle. The service was efficient and very friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and they even accommodated our toddlers' needs. We will definitely visit again!

This is the most welcoming, gorgeous place ever. Miguel is the nicest, kindest man that ever walked the earth. You will always receive a huge welcome on every visit. The cakes are to die for and the other breakfast/lunch items are also all home cooked and fresh to order. View menu

Here on a weekend break we popped in to have a cup of tea. The food looked so good we stayed for lunch. The service was excellent, the food delicious to have our tea in a China cup saucer was the icing on the cake for me. Can’t wait to come again to visit this gem of a place

Miguel is a very welcoming guy. This is a lovely traditional cafe with an excellent menu range, right in the centre of Cheadle. The cakes are enormous and delicious. Excellent in every way. Courtyard at the rear is a safe place for cyclists to park their cycles and sit out ..if preferred.

Have been here a few times for breakfast with my son, daughter and grandson. It’s a fabulous place, Miguel is very welcoming and the place is always clean and tidy. The food is perfectly cooked and served very quickly, great choice t f food and lovely coffee, and they always accommodate my little grandson by serving his food in his own bowl which I bring with me. A great experience highly recommended View menu

I live in Cheadle and visited this restaurant just before the original lockdown in 2020. It was delicious! I returned again on Friday, 1/4/22, craving their breakfast. It was absolutely delicious! Miguel, the staff member, is delightful. On Saturday, I asked my husband if he wanted breakfast and he was equally delighted with the food. I really wish I could support this restaurant on the high street more often.

I was here last month for lunch and had a very good experience. The owner was excellent, being very helpful with our order. Service remained of a very high standard throughout. The sandwiches were very good w/ generous garnishes. The cheescake (lemon and ginger) was absolutely outstanding. Coffee was very good, served in china cup and saucer (Americano). Cool! Range of hot meals looked good and were keenly priced. Maybe next time. It was noticeable that the cafe was full of regulars, a telling sign of consistent quality. Recommended and right near Pugin 's Gem.

"Our room faced the front of the hotel, and while the village was quiet with only two pubs and a small corner store, it seemed to be a shortcut for heavy vehicles speeding downhill at night, with headlights constantly illuminating our room. We also found out that the hotel closes in the evening if it's not busy, and the front door may be locked as early as 10 PM, requiring a code for re-entry. The internet service was poor; even standing just outside the front door, I had no reception and couldn't call the emergency numbers posted there. It appears that the quality of the rooms varies significantly, with some having been upgraded while others are less desirable, including our own. When we questioned our bill because we didn't think the room was worth £140, we were told that since we had booked through Charming Escapes, we should take it up with them, as the hotel receives only a fraction of what we paid. This made us feel like second-class guests, especially since it seemed we were stuck in a low-quality room. The standard rate for a double room is £90, and if I were to rate our experience like on the TV show "Four in a Bed," I would say £50 a night would have been generous. Previous reviews also mentioned an issue with the door handle and the ability to lock the room, which had not been fixed. If you’re just looking for a place to dry off your hiking boots, this hotel might suffice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here again. It has a lot of potential, and thankfully, we had a wonderful evening at The Devonshire Arms just across the street—it felt like a whole different experience. It seems the staff at Charles Cotton have simply given up."
