"To be honest, I have been coming here for years with my mum for a coffee, perhaps a light bite. Just to sit in the sunshine amongst the wonderful trees on the edge of Coate water. The problem is since the management has changed the experience every time is ****** awful. Today we had coffee and fancied a light snack so ordered a bowl of chips with some cheese. He put it on the table with no forks, no condiments and when we asked can we have some ketchup and maybe some forks, he said “yeh that’s all inside.” Did not offer to bring it either. Let me make this clear. There were around eight customers during our visit, so it is not as if he was run off his feet and besides a female member of staff seems to be doing most of the work. Doubt I will come back, and to be honest, I recommend the farm shop in Chiseldon which has a lovely backdrop of greenery and they do great food too. You won’t get alcohol there but you will certainly get a smile!! The hospitality industry has really suffered since Covid and the last thing. It needs is miserable people on the front line."

Visited on 12th April for lunch. What a terrible mistake! Do not even bother, the food was cold and service was atrocious. Basically, do not waste your money here as the staff don’t even care when you complain.

Went for a birthday celebration, booked a table and the staff put other people on the one we booked.Food cold and presentation really bad. Complained about cold food and a member of staff really couldn't have care less. Wouldnt recommend it to anyone. View menu

Credit where credits due, upon return to the pub a few weeks later by members of the family, the food had improved (this time hot and tasty) and all comments were good, so yes well done The Sun, I too will return soon, its hard being consistent that we all appreciate, and you can't please all the people all off the time.....

We went as a family of 7, for Sunday lunch. It was very busy. The manager is very rude, and generally unpleasant surprised he is employed by Arkells. Staff do not appear to have had any training in food hygiene or indeed customer service at all. They had run out of lots of items on the menu. We will not be going back, and I would suggest people avoid the place.

Staff very friendly and the pub has a nice atmosphere. Had breakfast for two mornings as part of B&B deal. The room was lovely except that there were several dead and live ladybirds behind the curtains. The first breakfast was okay, but was heavy on the oil with saturated items and overcooked items. The second breakfast was inedible, dry and tasteless scrambled egg and toast. A shame as it is a lovely spot. View menu

Visited on: 14.04.2024- yes the food was nice but there was only 1 waitress who was working very hard but could see she was struggling ! The manager Barry was not very welcoming to his customers, and there was food on the menu that was not available and they didn’t take it off the menu. We ordered 3 chicken burgers and one of them looked like a children’s meal and when we spoke to the manager about it he was being very rude. It took ages to bring the food out as well. Will not be visiting again!

Seems we are not alone, gosh, this food was bad, and the deal is I offer up some of my hard earnt cash, you in return apply the same commitment as I did at my job and serve up a tasty, warm meal. You reneged on the deal quite comprehensively; the food was not tasty in any way whatsoever, and it was Luke warm, to take it further it was drab, soulless and barely edible. I feel cheated, simply terrible food, vow never to return. When are places ever going to learn simple maths, I will not recommend you, in turn the people I have mentioned it to will again pass on the message as a place to waste your money on, as you can see it's not long before you have more empty tables than full ones.
