"You eat in the garden right beside the Thames a truly lovely spot. Around half the tables have sun umbrellas but if you’re too late to bag one of them (as we were) but still want shade then there’s a roomy open sided tent with chairs that are actually more comfortable than the benches and chairs outside. Being Whit Week, the garden was full so food did take a little while to come. There was such a great atmosphere that it would have been a pity to hurry. The menu offered a good choice, and everything was freshly made and very tasty. The staff were all friendly and cheerful, making us all feel really welcome. We couldn’t have asked for more!"

An hour to get drinks. We didn’t eat. Lovely location and staff are great but cannot cope with the amount of traffic. Food looked good but need to sort out before even more people visit in thesummer holidays.

Had a really good roast beef, with great selection of vegetables including my favourite red cabbage. Pudding’s all lovely . But what really makes the place are the friendly smiling staff. My only comment would be larger plates, as everything squashed onto 10” plates.

We visited for my sons birthday and was not disappointed the food was lovely and big portions, piping hot to the last mouthful and not over priced.the staff were very friendly and helpful they were very busy but nothing was to much trouble. Overall a very enjoyable evening and will definitely be returning soon

We've been to this pub plenty of times but never eaten. We will be going back. Fantastic location right on the river. The pub is just so traditional it oozes what no modern pub can. It's just lovely. The food was lovely. The best ham I've ever had. The portions were huge and I totally stuffed myself as it was so tasty. Definitely be going back in the future

We had Sunday lunch in the garden. No bookings, but after a short queue we got a table at 2 pm after a lovely walk along the river. The food was good pub food, the setting was great, but the best thing was the staff: even though they were extremely busy, they were all exceptionally friendly. That's what made it special. I would certainly come back, and recommend it to others.

My colleague and I were just out on business and fancied a beer. We went out of our way to get to The Trout, but I know the pub well and know Penny always has a good selection of draft ales on tap. The place was absolutely heaving, given this was a Tuesday I was surprised but shouldn't have been as I know how popular it is. Next time we call in we will bring our wives for a meal as well as drinks.

Had scrumptious Mother's Day lunch delivered to our door from the Trout Inn. The husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a good temperature when it arrived to us. There was a handsome portion of pork on both, the potatoes were fabulous and a good selection of vegetables. I'm very much a traditionalist and Sunday is always a roast day. (especially in lockdown!! This was the first Sunday roast that has been cooked for me in a year and it was a real joy to eat.(Obviously, some of the tick boxes below were inappropriate as this was a delivered meal, rather than one we ate at the Trout .

"I had been in this pub for a while, but my family and I were on the way from cheltenham to Westonbirt at 17 o'clock and called for an early dinner. all four of us said that the meal was faultless, we enjoyed all three courses and cannot praise this place enough. such a great atmosphere, cordial greeting from the incredibly fabulous staff and a seat directly at the log tariff. what more can they demand. it is easy to find, beautiful location and has plenty of parking right next to the pub. in summer there is a large garden back. in februar this is the place to eat when they go to visit the colesbourne snowdrop gardens that are right in front of the house and not to miss. the menu at the colesbourne inn is huge and offers for everyone something wonderful, regardless of their taste or nutrition to choose. my calamari ‘Bar Bite’ size starter was superb and definitiw a greater part than we expected. the other appetizers, a black bell and black pudding with fried egg was superb as well as the bread selection we also ordered. mostly fish Pie....only full of a lot of different fish and whistle fish. my son had the steak and ale pier he claimed he was the best he had eaten in a very long time. two of us had the nut roast dinner.... I want my Christmas dinner to be as good as that. desserts of fruit crumbs and custard finished the meal with the obligatory glass or two of fizz. for each device in these times to offer this incredible selection of oriented, which is an absolute credit for them by the most kind of employees ever and the very high standards they did. highly recommended at any level possible. well made the colesbourne inn"
