"I visited these tea rooms with my husband based on Trip Advisor reviews which made them sound amazing. Firstly, if you are expecting traditional tea rooms, you will have a surprise. This is a 2 up, 2 down terraced house. It has a vintage feel to it but it is very cramped. The staff were very friendly and promptly showed us to our table after ordering Afternoon Tea for 2 from the counter. The food arrived and comprised of 8 triangles of our chosen sandwiches, crisps, salad, a scone and a chosen cake each. I had ordered ham and tomato sandwiches but was so disappointed to find they were made with margarine and not butter. I only use butter at home and had to swap with my husband, who had ordered egg mayonnaise, as I couldn't eat them. When the owner asked if everything was ok, I mentioned the margarine and she seemed rather surprised. She said there was a cost element involved in using butter. The scone was delicious but also served without butter and the home made cake was also yummy. The pot of tea was made with a tea bag and you only receive one drink. Usually with Afternoon tea drinks are kept topped up. Whilst not an unpleasant experience we won't be returning. Travel a couple more miles and experience a real afternoon tea at either Alfreton Hall or the Hardwick Inn for the same price!"

I had a nice piece of chocolate cake with a nice pot tee in a comfortable room with good music on a level they can have a conversation with outside to go.

The restaurant offers a great variety of sandwiches, scones, and cakes. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I would definitely return to this place. It would make a perfect birthday treat for someone special.

Amazing place. The staff were fantastic and the food was even better. So much choice for afternoon tea and was allowed to mix and match to suit our needs. Homemade scones were out of this world!! Defo will be back.

Not been here for years.Alot of different showrooms with good quality furniture for various rooms Welcomed when we entered the premises and then left to look around in peace. Impressed with housekeeping sadly didn't find the item we wanted.Well worth the visit. View menu

Thank you to The Vintage Community Cafe at Clay Cross for our fabulous afternoon tea yesterday. I was lucky enough to win it on a Facebook competition and was very excited as I've been wanting to pop in for ages. We were instantly welcomed and looked after through out. The food was delicious and the tea plentiful. Scones were freshly baked and scrumptious and the cakes heavenly. The coffee cakes, always a favourite, had liqueur in the icing. Definitely recommend a visit here and I will be back asap.

We have visited the tea room multiple times in the past. This past Saturday afternoon around 3:45pm, we went there and chose a table to order some food. We ordered an afternoon tea for 2 adults and a child around 3:50pm, but were told that they had stopped taking orders at 3:30pm. We were surprised by this, especially since they are open until 5:00pm. We left the tea room disappointed and found another place on our way home that was able to serve us a very nice afternoon tea. Overall, we were able to salvage our tea experience despite the initial setback at the first tea room. View menu

However, I was a bit disappointed with the food and drink selection. The jam with my scone was delicious, as was the clotted cream. But, some items on the menu were not available, such as wraps (which were advertised) and chicken (only turkey was offered). The turkey provided was thinly sliced and from a commercial brand. They also did not have any cold drinks in the fridge, like ice or coke. The people working there were very kind, and I believe just a few adjustments could make this café a perfect spot to meet up. It's worth noting that they do not accept card payments. Overall, I would like to return to this café, but I think some changes would greatly improve the experience.

I visited before twice and was impressed by the delicious food, high quality service and historic feel in the cafe. My last visit was disappointing, in the past it has always been table service but this time we had to queue up with our menus to order at the bar like we were in a chain pub not a cafe. Our food arrived quickly but seemed rushed and not as good as last time. I ordered Welsh rarebit but a plate of cold toast with a small pot of lumpy cheese sauce was at the side. Felt let down as I was hungry and could have made this at home for half the price. The waiter was a youngish boy who wasn't sure how to deal with customers expressing their opinions and he replied in a huffy teenage fas...
