"Don't even bother with this place, they are ripping people off, myself&my lovely other half visited for my birthday. We ordered the sunday platter for 2 people&what a absolute disgrace,it came out with 3 small pieces of beef cut as thin as wafer ham&was the size of a small biscuit, one small chicken leg&a small piece of cheap pork which was covered in fat,i did complain&it was met with a shocked attitude. Only for my other half booking for my birthday I would of walked out. I don't normally complain but for £38 for the platter I was disgusted!! It's a good job i didnt take any pictures for there sake, anyway we didnt hang around for deserts for further disappointment. I wish we had visited Miller&Carter instead, which we normally do for birthdays, but thought we would try somewhere different. I would recommend this business deal with this issue of portions immediately or they won't have a business food wise!!!"

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Wayfarer. Always excellent quality and friendly service. The beef was lovely and tender. We will be back soon.

Superb service and food, piping hot and a lovely gift of a small vase of flowers for all the mums. The servers were all friendly and helpful. Great occasion will return.

Great food and fabulous service! A big shout out to Ebony who served us. She was attentive and professional, had a good sense of humour but not overly familiar. Having been in customer service all my life, I can’t honestly say that she is someone I would love to have on my team! Thank you Ebony

Second time I’ve been here and it was brilliant again. My wife and I shared the Sunday Platter which was huge and delicious, such good value for money especially with the yum desserts. The staff were great with the kids and they also loved their meals and ice cream. A family favourite for us now we’ll be back!

Went for Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had 10oz Sirloin followed by a Blondie.Dad had Gammon followed by Cheesecake and John had Chicken, bacon and potato pie followed by Cheesecake. Yet again a very good chef who cook a well done steak without cremating, we all enjoy the food and it's definitely worth a visit

"ok… I have deliberated whether to write this as don’t like to be negative but I think this place can take it so here goes… My husband booked a meal as a Christmas pressie this as I have always wanted to go to a michelin star restaurant and this is quite local to us. We arrived at The Barn which is quite basic in appearance as the downstairs looks like several saunas due to the amount of wood on show. Upstairs was nice and attractive. The staff are efficient but the whole set up is bit ‘cold’ and unfriendly. The staff were not particularly engaged; maybe this is how they were trained to be? The food consisted of amuse bouche which tbh didn’t really taste of much and this was a theme for the whole menu unfortunately. The homemade bread was delicious but the other offerings were tasteless and needed seasoning. -trout mousse in a lemon broth, including pips, was tasteless and the mussel mousse on pikelet didn’t taste of mussels. anyhow on to the main event-we ordered partridge -chewy and tasteless, the cured sea bream not seasoned sufficiently. The meals looked delicious-style over taste? Then the mains-my deer was tender and delicious but the sauces didn’t taste of much-I had to check the menu to see what they were meant to be. My husband ordered the steak-now at £62 this should have been SOME steak- what a shame it wasn’t -it was just a sirloin, bit chewy, not that great. Deffo not worth £62 of taste! It wasn’t caramelised on the outside and abit sinewy. The bone marrow bearnaise sauce was tasty though. Now I like cooking, I like food , I cook fresh meals every night but I’m not a chef. My first experience of food at this level… I will stick to local restaurants WITHOUT michelin stars at a fraction of the price -tbh I prefer my own home cooked meals! Is this a case of the emperors new clothes? Do people just think it’s good because they are told by someone else it’s fantastic? I’m disappointed in the experience at The Barn. Bit of a wash out and I will be asking for a meal at Bistro Verite in Birkdale next Christmas probs at a fraction of the price!"
