"Carvery here was recommended by a family member. Today (Sunday we decided to deviate from where we usually go for our carvery and try Sambuca Windmill big mistake! Upon entry, we were quickly seated. Drinks orders taken and delivered very quickly. No The place was very busy lots of noise, kids and people rushing about, loud music adding to the noise. Carvery didn’t look great so we asked for a main menu, to be told after drinks were served that they don’t serve the main menu until after 4pm on a Sunday. We nearly walked out. We should have. Long queue for the carvery. Limited choice of veg. Dry meat (maybe why the waiter drowns your food in gravy at the end! and only a few slices. Your roast potatoes, mash, watery stuffing and very thick gravy are slopped on by a server who ignores the fact you tell him 3 times ‘no mashed potato’ then hoys it on top of your vegetables! Food tasted okay. Half way through the meal there was loud clapping. We looked around to see the carvery meat server stop serving to clap loudly for no apparent reason and this seemed to go on forever then the night club style music was turned up even louder causing a few customers near us to look at each other and shake our heads in shock/despair whatever you want to name it! It was not a calm and relaxing atmosphere to eat. We won’t be paying over £32 (11.95 each for carvery plus a pint of lager and Pepsi Max for this experience again."

We had a smash burger each which were very tasty but only came with 10 chips, come on what does it cost to give a good portion of chips when burgers were £12.95 each.

Food is always nice but a little disappointing that on the menu change the goat’s cheese bruschetta now doesn’t come with toasted bread and the goats cheese is not breaded and frozen

We attended with some friends last week, staff were lovely. Food not so great, pasta dishes were watery and tasted funny. Sauces not very flavoursome. My steak was undercooked. Very good presentation but couldn’t hide the poor food. Friend had desert that was lovely too but overall would have got better value for money elsewhere. Also toilets not very clean.

We came here for a family meal. The food was amazing and faultless. The steak was cooked to perfection. The lotus cheesecake is one of the the nicest desserts I’ve had! Service was spot on. The staff were very friendly and attentive and made a fuss of my nana on her birthday. She said what a fantastic night she had and we will certainly be back again.! Thank you View menu

Celebrated my birthday and we all had an excellent typically Italian meal.......rich a tasty sauces, lovely jubbly. Also had a delicious lemon cheese cake. Staff were excellent and attentive. The builders were busy knocking about the gents toilet but the noise didn't distract as they had music on full blast! Check the builders have finished before your visit and you can be assured of an excellent meal.

I have been going to the windmill for a number of years and have always had a pleasant experience for the price range. I visited yesterday and was shocked at how much the cost of the steak had went up from £22 to £30. For £30 it was only steak and chips , there was no veg included. I understand the current financial climate however it wasn’t good value for money. It didn’t justify the £8 price increase. The food was lovely but not worth £30 .

We had a fantastic evening here a couple of nights ago celebrating my Son's 21st birthday. There were 18 of us in our party. The staff were fantastic, they looked after us all night and nothing was any trouble to them. The food was really lovely and a good price too. The staff got my son up on a chair and had everyone sing happy birthday to him followed by a complimentary shot drink. Everyone in our party had a wonderful time and I will definitely be returning again soon to try out the Sunday carvery. View menu

Decided to try on recommendation of workmates who’d also dined at Sambuca’s in Church Street. Overall menu/food was pretty much the same, however, staff cleared my husband and sons starter plates while I was still eating, a definite no-no in my book. Felt a bit rushed as just as I’d finished my starter then the mains arrived (I would prefer a break of at least 5/10 minutes between courses). Food was delicious as expected. We also ordered Irish coffees which arrived in a bit of a sorry state (probably prepared by inexperienced staff). An ok experience but I think we’ll probably stick to the Church Street branch in future.

We were welcomed entering the Inn and shown to our table. That was where the special treatment ended. I had 2 starters as I do not eat much and my husband had a starter and a main meal. What I had was very nice and the price was ok? my husbands main was nothing special just like something I would make on a weekday. Delivered lovely and warm on warm plates which was good. we were going to have Sunday lunch at the carvery but the meat looked really dry, the bench was a mess with veg and spilt gravy, not inviting at all. We sat close to one of the windows which was good but outside there was a full table with plates of food an drinks glasses hardly touched. It looked like they had just walked a...

"Unfortunately you can't prebook at this restaurant for groups smaller than persons. So my friends and I arrived just after on a busy friday night and were told there was around a minute wait for a table. We were expecting this...so we went to Wallis and Co for a couple of tasty for cocktails while we waited. hour and minutes later and we still hadn't been called! so went back to the restaurant and again waited to speak to the staff. Apparently they were just about to call us and so we were seated straight away. The staff were all very busy, but we did struggle to flag someone down to place our order and then to ask for more drinks etc. The food arrived quickly though once ordered and I was very impressed with both the quality and quantity of the food! We had ordered dishes each and then a couple more to share between which equals a huge meal! Everything was well cooked and served hot to our table, and everything was delicious. I would definitely return for the food, but just try to choose a less busy night. I love sangria! and was very excited that Casa served it so ordered a full pitcher to myself! Unfortunately it wasn't very good at all and I could only manage to drink about half of it. My friends enjoyed the cocktails though. Bread is brought to the table, which was great to nibble on while we waited for the food as we were all starving at this point! as it was around before we finally ate. The meal was good value at around each, including drinks and around tapas each. I paid more as obviously had a whole pitcher to myself! Pitchers are around each. Colourful jelly beans are brought out with bill. Afterwards we went to The Fuschia Lounge for some amazing Halloween themed cocktails! :"

"We were staying locally so decided to try here as the reviews were good. First impressions , the two young boys serving seemed inexperienced and out of their depth. Got a table, ordered drinks, which took a little while to come. Table next to us who came after us got theirs first. A lady who seemed in charge was directing the boys in the most basic of tasks. One of them came to clean down the table next to us and the cleaning solution was lemon, very strong, almost choked on it. Note to owner, tone down to something more neutral. So our order was taken by the lady in charge and the combo platter we chose, which we ordered by number, was served and it was the wrong combo platter. I couldn’t be bothered to argue so just ate it, it was actually very nice, but I’m glad I’m not a vegetarian, as it was all meat, I’d ordered the vegetarian platter. We both had chicken dishes, my husband’s stir fry was a bit spicier than he liked, but not a complaint. Just the wrong choice for him, my Massaman curry was very tasty, a couple of chewy bits in the chicken, but otherwise ok. I ordered a second glass of Pino Grigio, but it took a while to come, the young boy I ordered from came and asked if I’d like a drink, I said yes the one I ordered and haven’t got yet! It was poured and I could see it was yellow, like cloudy lemonade. The Thai lady tipped it out and I got a new one, but it was warm, so served with a side of ice. So, would I come here again? Probably not. Lots of takeouts being picked up, seems popular, but nothing special in my opinion."
