"My partner and I live locally and I’d been wanting to check out this pub for a while, as it looks so stunning from the outside with beautiful gardens. We went for a Sunday roast recently and I was quite taken aback by how basic and unloved it was inside. The landlady was friendly but the service from the wait staff was incredibly slow even though there were only a couple of tables occupied. My partner had the beef roast and I had the chicken. The portions are HUGE and they give you extra gravy without asking for it, which is a massive plus point. My chicken was pretty nice but the potatoes and veg were absolutely delicious. My partner said his beef was quite tough and he didn’t enjoy it. After we’d finished our meal we must have waited over twenty minutes to have the table cleared and no one asked if we wanted dessert. Another ten minutes passed before we could flag down a member of staff. Unfortunately, in the intervening period, I heard the chef make a really repellant slur about a member of the public who had committed the heinous crime of asking for a burger on a Sunday. Because of that, we didn’t order dessert and we won’t be coming back."

Terrible pub run into the ground in high is such a shame as it’s a nice period building. My friends and I went out for an evening drink and we’re continually charged different prices for the same drink and when we enquired we were told if we don’t like it we can leave.

Returned to this lovely pub for Sunday lunch with friends. Had read lits of comments re a bit expensive. However for the amount and quality of food it was priced right. Large portions with plenty of veg. Cauliflower cheese is out of this world. 3of group had the beef and I had chicken. Beautifully cooked. The desserts had by the others looked fab. Very friendly great atmosphere. Will be back soon.

First impressions as we walked in was too much furniture ! jammed in all over the place , very odd . Ordered our meals 3 beef and 1 lamb shank.A lot of food turned up BUT it was not good veg had no salt and our beef was so tough it was uneatable so took it home for the dogs. service was fine but the food was the worst by far and expensive. A real shame as we went with high hopes , we will never chance it again ,pity .

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."

"What can I say….We held our wedding dinner and impromptu party ! on the mezzanine floor and had the time of our lives with our nearest and dearest. It’s been a pretty special place for us as we dined at the House by Hilly Gant to check the area out before moving from London and so as we were having a small wedding of 22 people we felt this was the best place to have our wedding. Suzanne and the team could not have done anything more to make our afternoon and evening so perfect. The food was outstanding and our guests were very impressed Harry and his cocktail making skills are second to none. Huge shout out to all the kitchen staff who’s attention to detail and timings were spot on. Leading up to the day itself Suzanne took charge and offered her expert advice on how to dress the room and made so much effort with our requirements. 3 children and 1 baby as part of the guest list! . The beef in particular was spectacular and the chocolate fondant was sublime. We honestly didn’t want to leave. After dinner Suzanne was able to crank the music up and we had a little party ensuring all the guests downstairs were still well looked after our friends were actually dining downstairs and were able to join us towards the latter part of the evening! From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much to everyone for making it so special for us. I’m not surprised that you were recently awarded your second rosette, totally deserved. For anyone looking for quality food, locally sourced, and beautifully executed this is the place to come. SEE YOU SOON and thank you again x"
