"Lovely gem of a pub in a perfect location. Was looking for somewhere to eat for Sunday lunch last minute with family and came across this place. So glad we did. Such a lovely building steeped with history, was very cosy and traditional inside, complete with a fire. The staff were really lovely and welcoming, and even the locals were really friendly. And bonus that dogs are welcome. We all had a fantastic Sunday lunch. Probably one of the best Sunday lunches we've all had. The food was to a great standard, including for two vegetarians, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We're all planning to come back again soon and look forward to it. Will definitely be recommending to others too! Vegetarian options: Great options, all tasty Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot"

Great pub in lovely Coggeshall! Went for a few drinks and Sunday lunch and it didn’t disappoint, also loved the beer garden. Can’t wait to return

Stayed overnight but didn’t use for food or drink. Lovely room, only negative was no robes supplied. Also there is no cooked breakfast option but a generous cold option is supplied in room. Service: 5 View menu

I recently had Sunday dinner at this restaurant and it was perfect. The venue was beautiful, the staff was great, and the service was excellent. I chose the roast beef, which was thickly sliced, tender, and cooked to perfection with a slightly pink center. Price per person was £20–30, and I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all as a 5 out of 5.

Went here a few weeks ago as we have been looking at pubs in the area to have a monthly meeting. Toilet was filthy complained about a dirty glass and was confronted by the owner called Mel who has to be the vilest rudest person on the planet. Left our drinks and went. Such a shame as the building is is wonderful and looks really inviting. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 View menu

What a fantastic pub! Giving four stars as all the hand pumps were off which was a pity but... staff were great and actually appeared to enjoy working here. The building is an absolute gem and the outside areas are nicely planted. The locals were friendly and there's happy hour 7 days a week from 5pm. On the downside we live 50 odd miles away or this would become my local. Price per person: £10–20 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The owner was extremely accommodating when I called ahead to let her know we had elderly relatives with us, and she made sure to seat us in the most accessible area of the restaurant. The Sunday roast was delicious and the portions were huge. Children under 10 eat for free, which was a nice bonus. The staff were all friendly and polite, creating a pleasant and cozy atmosphere that wasn't too noisy (we came in early lunchtime). Overall, it was a great experience. There weren't many vegetarian options available, but they may have been able to provide a veggie roast upon request. The pub had a gravel parking lot, and it was kid-friendly with free meals for children and drink options available....

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."
