"My son (6), his mother, and I visited the Traube last night just on a whim. We reserved about 2 hours beforehand, drove over from Vaduz, had a nice walk around the tiny lake in Buchs (more like a pond when viewed by those who know the Finger Lakes and Great Lakes of North America), including a trip up the hill to the Schloß, and ended up the walk at the restaurant. The restaurant Saal is stunningly gorgeous. I am guessing it is protected under Denkmalschutz. (sites having historical, cultural, and/or architectural significance and are protected from renovation and defacing) The service is excellent and relaxed. Quite child-friendly. The menu is one of the most creative I have seen in a while and they delivered on the promise of a culinary adventure foreshadowed in it.They had a spaghetti with a honey & basil pesto. Children tend to resist new dishes, so I told him that it was "pasta-green-sauce", a regular in the repertoire at "CasaPapa". He dove into it and raved."This is the yummiest pasta-green-sauce at all," he said. I tried it and started to regret not having ordered it. But then my lamb rack arrived and I quickly got over it. Lastly, I applaud them for using so many local products. They had beer from just down the road in Sevelin. The Zwetschgen Schnaps as well as many of the fire-waters in the collection of artfully shaped bottles in the center of the Saal are also local products. The word will get out soon. Another 3 months from now, I doubt we will be able get a table on such short notice!"

even being late for lunch, owner and kitchen staff offer a full range of lunch menus or even special orders. The Egli filet are excellent but also the other dishes. Good wines at resonable prices are served. Just can recommend it.

We are a family of 4, visiting Buchs for one night. We had an excellent dinner for 4. Beautiful steak and veal. The server recommended a local wine when we asked for it. It was exactly what we wanted! A nice dinner worth the money, excellent hospitality!

Though that isn't saying much, I really enjoyed the dinner I had at Traube. I had the Pepper Steak and rhubarb tiramisu, and I enjoyed both very much. My father was not too pleased with his asparagus entree but all in all it was a very enjoyable meal for both of us and far and away the best meal we have had in Buchs.

We had dinner in this surprising place: a perfectly restored dining room in wood panels and wall paintings. Lots of space, good menu with an extensive wine list, friendly and considerate service. The food was excellent too, altogether an experience to remember. The tab is, as expected, quite high. Well, this is Switzerland.

I had a chance to visit this restaurant on a recent visit to Buchs (SG). It's a great place for "foodies" with an interesting menu and creatively arranged dishes. The presentation of the meal was also world class. Excellent wine selection including some very good local wines, and a historical building for the dining room. This would be an excellent restaurant in any part of the world and is a real gem in Buchs.

The Traube is in the center of Buchs and can be reached from ost hotels around Buchs on foot and by strolling through the main shopping street from the Bahnhof (train station). It is located in a historic building dating back to 1835.It is open Tue-Thu 9am -2pm/ 5- 11pm and Fr-Sa: 10am - midnight. We were there with a larger group, were promptly seated and the service was attentive and very friendly. A great wine selection offered us a difficult choice, but we were happy with our Austrian Zweigelt! The Beef Tartar was excellent and so was the desert selection. Overall a great visit with great service, good food and upper average Swiss prices. Definitely a place to consider for dinner when in B...

As a town, Buchs SG is nothing to write home about. However, thanks to Guide Michelin, I had dinner in this charming restaurant - great food and friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere.I sat in the dining room: an awesome masterpiece, nicely decorated, with much room between tables. It surely is cozy in winter, but do not sit there on a hot summer evening - I sweated profusely during the whole dinner! The menu puts focus on freshly prepared regional and seasonal produce. I began with smoked salmon and tuna carpaccio served with a mango chutney - a light and delicious starter on a warm day. As main course I chose the fillet of beef served with roesti and vegetables. The portion proved really...
