"We stumbled upon this restaurant next door to Köln Bahnhof on Sunday evening around 18:30. We were hungry as we'd had virtually no food all day and we didn't want to go far as we were due back at the train station two hours later. So we opted for the pre-set 4- set course (surprise) menu for 44euro/pp at this conveniently located restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised with every single course and I found myself wanting to log onto TripAdvisor to write this review. We decided to sit inside, next to the big windows, which provided us a great view of the Dom and also a view of the beautifully grand interior. The waitress who served us (Maya) was really helpful, friendly and especially patient because my german was not very good but I wanted to practice. She explained the menu, offered to take our luggage and was kind throughout. The set-menu works by guests choosing whether we wanted a meat, fish or vegetarian dish for each course and stating whether they have any allergies. So I opted for fish starter and meat main whilst my boyfriend opted for meat/meat. The fourth course was the addition of either a soup/salad and the food was always a surprise so we had no idea what to expect.Every course was beautifully presented, incredibly tasty, and of generous portion size in addition the courses were served at the right temperature and the perfect time.We decided to leave the restaurant a bit earlier so asked if we could reduce the price to a 3-course and leave the dessert or possibly do 'take-away' dessert as we didnt want to rush it. We didn't think they could manage the dessert as a take-away but were thrilled that they came out with our bill and our special 'take-away' dessert. The service, quality and thought behind the dessert topped the dinner and made it such a lovely experience. Thank you. The chef prepared two kinds of dessert for us, they put these into glass (not plastic or cardboard!) dishes and covered them with cling-film and then provided us some tasty strawberry, fun magnum ice creams and even apologised for not being able to do more. That was such a fun idea to have the magnums !!!! Then when we were collecting our bags the staff thanked us (again) and gave us their home made chocolates to take away with us.It was so so so lovely.I cant recommend this place enough. Compliments to the chef, Maya (our lovely waitress) and all the other staff. Should we return to Köln again this will be top- of the list and no-doubt we will recommend this place to our friends and family."

Wartesaal has solid German cuisine - not overly imaginative, but certainly sticks to the ribs. Dishes are fairly priced and well portioned. The staff is very good with foreigners who do not speak German.

The place looks fantastic and the staff is very friendly and efficient. Regretfully the food is not meeting expectations. The fish was OK but not exceptional, but the wiener schnitzel was poor. We decided to have desert elsewhere.

It's our Saturday evening date. This place has a nice view of the great cathedral. The only drawback is that the price of drinks is quite high. But if you would like to enjoy a nice atmosphere, then it's a good place to go for spending a cozy evening with friends. View menu

This place is definitely worth to visit. At least once. Outlook of the restuarant (very simple) does not reflect the inner bombastic atmosphere. Retro style, very classical, with elegant furniture and decoration. Variety of food and drinks (even vegetarian dishes). Nice service.

Tucked away next to the station / Dom this is a restaurant bar that most people seem to miss. Its a bit a a tardis too (English readers will understand) in that its bigger inside than it looks. Great 19th century decor. Great 21st century bar and food. Occasional live music too. Staff friendly

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. We booked a table for 8:30 and arrived a little bit early which was no problem. We ate from the seasonal menu and had goose liver parfait which was stunning, very smooth and really tasty. I the had goose breast and leg with red cabbage roasted apple and red wine jus. It was fabulous, my wife had saddle of venison with small dumplings and pumpkin and it to was excellent. The dinning room itself is huge but manages to feel cozy with a great buzz. I can't wait to go again!

The restaurant is located at the central station of Cologne. It is a little hidden, if you are in front of the main entrance then go to the right until you see an ancient glass front. The restaurant is actually part of the main station, though not owned by it. Before WW II, it was the waiting hall for the first class passenger. After WWII it was not used as waiting hall anymore and in the eighties it was discovered by a famous German entertainer (Alfred Biolek) and renovated for use as restaurant and club. The place is actually two places; the restaurant/bar and a club which is used for comedy as well. The restaurant is decorated in Nouveau Art style and really an eye catcher. There have a f...

"In a 5-day stay in Cologne and as a lover of Indian cuisine, we had planned the Ginti. The visit took place on Monday to the beginning of noon. The reception was very friendly and cordial by the Lord of the House. The decor in Ginti is very modern, stylish, but also somewhat sterile and only very discreet supplements with Indian accessories. Young guests will probably find favors in the style of the institution. The place was still empty and so there was a chance to get a brief conversation with the mistress of the house. She brought us the menus, and there were Papadam with three from a culinary point of view pretty boring finished dives. We chose both a mango sauce as a drink that was thin and most likely prepared on the basis of a mango powder. Disgusting! I ordered as main dish Malai Kofta, vegetable balls in a mild curry sauce with ginger, garlic, almonds and coconut. This is not only one of my favorite Indian dishes, but it is also a dish that places higher requirements on a kitchen and therefore cannot be found in any Indian restaurant on the menu. In addition, quality and freshness can be well valued with this bowl. I ordered this dish with a higher sharpness, but not through the sauce, but ultimately through the vegetable balls themselves. The latter were produced excellently and their loose inner composition had the freshness of the preparation felt. This was undoubtedly a 5-star court. My accompaniment had opted for Tandoori King Prawn Masala, marinated royal cloves from Tandoor in a sauce with tomatoes, cashew nuts and raisins. This dish was also very tasty, rather mild and very generous in the number of shrimps. The rice was served unfavorably on an open bowl and had to measure any fragrance and aroma that could originate from cardamom capsules or spice cloves. After the main dishes were convinced, we were curious about the Indian ice cream, Kulfi. This came visually well over a carrot cut into slices, but could not be along tasteful. It was crystallized, little creamy and the aromas of the aforementioned mango powder were reappeared. Conclusion: a highly recommended Indian restaurant due to the excellent main dishes, but not yet matured in its culinary periphery. Therefore, provisionally three stars with an inclination to four."
