"I think we had the misfortune to visit in an off-night because reviews are usually friendly and photos of previous meals looked attractive. But ours was terrible; very overpriced, very little effort on the presentation, it looked honestly like something you would get in a cheap street café. My £11 prawn cocktail looked like it had been poured out from a tub, 'artisan' sour dough bread was two thin slices of Stale Baguette, and Steak dinner (where the steak was served on a stack of chips) was dry and tasteless with a very watery peppercorn sauce with a £3 price tag. Basically disgusting and also one of the most expensive meals I have ever paid. ****."

Food was fine (but nothing special for a Christmas outing) and the service was good just hugely over priced I've been to better value eateries.

Good food but small portions. A little slow due to a Christmas function. Draughty table. Pleasant waiter. Good range of options on the menu. Decent.

Food and service excellent.Unfortunately not busy so ambience could have been better but it was early on a cold November evening so not that surprising. View menu

We booked an afternoon tea for my mother-in-law and friend for her birthday. They had a fantastic time and especially said that their waiter, Ollie was fantastic.

Great food... great atmosphere great service.. we had a nice experience and will go back when in the area. We were there for a workshop and also enjoyed the beautiful cottage where we stayed.

The staff was fantastic! Starter was nice, Steak was very good peanut brittle pudding and cheese board were disappointing for price jacobs cracker instead of oat cracker). Malbec was really nice View menu

The food presentation at this restaurant was excessively fancy, bordering on nouvelle cuisine. The meat was cooked perfectly and the gravy/sauce was delicious. However, we felt that the vegetables were too processed. The wine choices were all on the pricey side, and we would have appreciated more affordable house wine options. It would have been nice to see a focus on and support for fresh local produce at this restaurant.

I believe we had the unfortunate experience of visiting on an off night. Despite friendly reviews and attractive photos of previous meals, our experience was disappointing. The food was overpriced and poorly presented, resembling something you would find in a cheap diner. My £11 prawn cocktail looked like it had been poured out of a container, the 'artisan' sourdough bread was two thin slices of stale baguette, and the steak dinner was dry and tasteless, served on a pile of chips with a watery peppercorn sauce for an additional £3. Overall, the meal was unpleasant and one of the most expensive I have ever had. ****.

"My mate and I met at the pub for a quiet lunchtime beer and chat..it was great to see him as we had not seen each other for years and need to catch up on news... All we got was pressure and hassle from the...staff. We had our beers..two minutes later one staff member arrived asking if we needed more drinks??..No thank you...Two minutes later another staff member arrived..You gents ok??..Can I get you more drinks??....Our beer was barely touched..No thank you we are fine.. Two minutes later another staff member arrived ...Can I get you more drinks?? Then a young man arrived..Are you gents dining with us??.. we had not planned to eat, just have a beer .. Do you have sandwiches??...No we don't was the answer. Five minutes later another question if we had ordered food??.. Different staff member arrived time after time, every few minutes to ask if we needed more drinks or if we were ordering food... We ordered food we didn't want...It was nothing special..Usual pub food that is quickly forgettable..Not great food..mediocre. Only then did the hassle stop and we were left alone to have a chat. I know there is not much profit in beer...Pubs make their money on food. But the restaurant area was not busy...We were not sat in the restaurant dining area..The table was not made up with cutlery ready for diners..No further customers were sat in our area...The table was NOT required for diners. IT IS A PUB!!...People to go pubs to drink beer and spirits, read a book, chat to other folk, play cards, read a newspaper...It a place of social gathering. All we got was hassle and pressure. I do not often write reviews..Far less write a poor report..I much prefer to give praise and say things were excellent. We shall NOT return.. Incidentally, I do know and like good food..The previous evening I dined in a pub where the chef was a past winner of the TV programme MasterChef ...However, this pub food was mediocre..."
