"Was very disappointed to see that Waterside has adopted a cashless policy. When only purchasing items of low value, we like many people, prefer to pay cash. And what happens when the internet goes down and the machines don't work? Do they just close completely and send everyone away? Also, not very well laid out for disabled people or those having to use walking aids. Had to move items out of the way so my elderly mum could get around with her walker. Toilets were a considerable way from the entrance and given the location of the garden centre, I imagine this is often the first thing visitors need on arrival as the majority would arrive by car. Prices generally were not competitive with our local garden centres and we left after only 45 minutes because we considered the garden centre to be overpriced and my elderly Mum was getting fed up with having to walk a long distance around the outside and inside areas because they insist that the most accessible door, which saves a considerable walk, must only be used by staff! Not much thought given to disabled guests at all."

I was disappointed when I visited my favorite place today and was informed that dogs, even those carried in a dog bag, are not allowed on the premises of the garden center. Very upsetting.

I need a walking stick to stand and was made to stand for 10 minutes in the waiting area. Then wasn’t served we waited for 15 minutes and left. Understaffed underwhelming and poor service. The owner would probably be better running a circus instead of running a restaurant

It has been a few years since my last visit, on entering I thought it was not very busy. But had a good look round put a few thing’s in my basket, only to find I couldn’t have a drink or pay for my plants. I had travelled from Peterborough so I will not be going again. I could have used my credit card but on principle I chose not to, no dogs and no cash. Plenty of other garden centres around

We came here for lunch, it was fairly busy and waited to be seated. They split a table for six for us, sat down no menus, some ten minutes later a waitress came for our order but no menus so she gave us a menu then said she would back in a couple of minutes. Sometime later still not had our order taken so got up and left. This kind of services is not acceptable we will not be returning again. Needed more staff and more organisation I would not recommend this eatery to anyone. View menu

We went to Waterside for lunch and to buy shrubs for a raised bed. Upon entering, I realized I forgot my disabled badge in the car. I tried to get a staff member to let me out, but they were unhelpful and rude. I eventually had to leave through the entrance to put my badge in the car, facing more hostility from the staff. The restaurant experience was also disappointing. We ended up purchasing our shrubs elsewhere, as it seemed Waterside does not value their disabled customers. We will not be returning.

After attending a funeral, a group of 12 of us went to this restaurant for coffee, cake, and some cooked food. The coffee and cakes were satisfactory. However, we were disappointed to find blood splattered on the three Pepsi bottles some of us ordered. When we brought it to the attention of the waitress, she did not apologize and only mentioned that the bottles had just been delivered. We received replacements, but one of them also had blood on it. We decided not to complain again. Later, our two paninis were served with a dark, long hair on one of the plates, on top of the chips. We spoke to a younger waitress who also did not apologize but said she would bring a new one. A fresh panini was...

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
