"We’ve been to Y Celstryn training restaurant, Coleg Cambria, Deeside (Kelsterston College as was) many times for a great weekday meal and we’ve never been disappointed. Therefore when we were looking for a venue to host an afternoon tea on a Saturday afternoon for 70 people to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary I asked the restaurant if they would consider doing such an event. I’m glad to say they said yes and they’ve worked with me over the months to ‘fine tune’ our requirements. I cannot shout the restaurant’s praises loud enough. We had an amazing afternoon, every single detail was taken care of. The students were all so lovely to our guests (who ranged in age from 2- 100 yrs). They’d set up a really nice little area for children to play/colour. The tables were beautifully laid out and the food was just exceptional – so well presented, and tasted out of this world. We had a selection of sandwiches and rolls followed by afternoon tea pastries: Coronation chicken on sun-dried tomato and olive bread Smoked salmon with infused crème fraiche, watercress on malted brown bread Classic egg salad with mustard on white bread Cucumber, minted crème cheese on spinach bread Boned ham with whole grain mustard, apple chutney on carrot and coriander bread Freshly baked sultana and plain scones with clotted cream, home-made lemon curd and strawberry preserve Selection of pastries and cakes. Everyone we’ve spoken to since the party has commented on the ‘top notch’ food and what a lovely venue it is for a celebration. The restaurant is licensed and has a large car park (which is always full during the week) but we had the whole car park on Saturday afternoon. THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF AND STUDENTS INVOLVED IN OUR EVENT."

The atmosphere in this venue is always very friendly mainly because it is mostly used by those in the know it is surprisingly little known even in Connah's Quay were it is located. The food is always of a high standard, well presented and reasonably cheap; well worth a visit if in the neighbourhood

We had lunch today and the quality of the service from the students was excellent. The meal was superb, smoked haddock tart with horseradish cream, presented beautifully. Main course was braised Welsh beef with a mushroom sauce and vegetables, the beef was so tender and delicious. We really enjoyed the meal and would highly recommend this place. Already booked for the Christmas meal.

We went for lunch and we had for starters smoked salmon with apples, radish and cabbage coleslaw the corn fed chicken, mashed potatoes, picked onions and cherries tomatoes in a delicious jus , fish with potatoes, vegetable goulash for mains and for pudding: creme brule with coconut biscuit and raspberries and almond tart with cream and berries. Good service and excellent value for money too. 8.50 for 2 courses or 10 for a 3 course

Y Celstryn training restaurant, Coleg Cambria, Deeside (Kelsterston College as was) is a great place for a weekday meal. The restaurant itself is modern and spacious and the students (and supervisors) pay every attention to detail. The kitchen is divided from the restaurant by a glass wall so it’s great to watch the kitchen team at work. The lunchtime menu is £9.50 for a wonderful 3 course meal, plus they have a licensed bar. We were a party of 4 and had an amazing meal. Each time we go we seem to say that was the best one yet, we’ve never been disappointed.

This place just keeps on excelling itself. Today’s meal was unbelievably good. The starters were delightful and very well presented; the main course was out of this world so delicious, the flavours were incredible; and the dessert (lemon sponge pudding) was incredibly light and tasty. The restaurant itself is modern and spacious and the students pay every attention to detail. The lunchtime menu is a wonderful 3 course meal and there’s always plenty of choice, plus there’s a licensed bar. Our special thanks to all the students who served us and especially to Cameron who was a delight.

This was my first visit to the restaurant, which is situated on Coleg Cambria's Deeside campus. From the moment I walked through the restaurant doors, the service provided was brilliantly attentive, by being able to anticipate my needs and offer advice accordingly I was able to easily choose from the options on the menu and decided on the Beef Bourguignon. Once my order was taken, the meal came within 15 minutes, the food was brilliant; cooked to perfection and well presented. The atmosphere was relaxing and unhurried, and was complimented by the music playing in the background. Once I received the bill I was pleasantly surprised, as it was not what I had expected, I had been provided with a...

Excellent 3 course lunch at Y Celstryn training restaurant, Coleg Cambria – Deeside (Kelsterston College as was). We always enjoy a superb meal at the training restaurant but this 3 course lunch was exceptional, possibly the best ever. We were welcomed as we came through the door and then seated at our table. There was a good choice of starters, mains and desserts. Our party all had different starters and mains (and we all swopped a bit so we could taste everything on offer). I had Steak Diane and it was prepared and flambéed at the table by Warren who was both confident and extremely capable. It was really good to watch him prepare the meal from scratch. For dessert two of us selected banan...

"Went for a drive Father's day and ended up having a meal here, we rang and luckily got a table for 7pm. On entry to the Celtic Arms it was a high walled gated area with absolutely beautiful gardens which went on for some considerable area, it is a golf club as well and a beautiful golf course with golf buggies opposite the restaurant. Opposite the golf buggies their is a play area that as I recall was fenced off but attached to the restaurant as its also a bar. On arrival to the resteraunt the manager was extremely warm and welcoming and escorted us to a table just outside of the restaurant. During the time we where in the Celtic Arms I observed the waitress in the restaurant constantly clean and spraying the tables which was absolutely so reassuring since the last covid people have relaxed a bit to much. A young lady who was equally as welcoming came and as us for our order, it was a set three course meal at £23.99 which we felt was really reasonable for such a lovely place. Halfway through our time in the Celtic Arms the young lady went home from her shift that had intially taken our order and I pressume we then passed to another waitress. I felt we where out of the eye of the bar but not in the restaurant so got a little forgotten about, although once we called a member of staff to remove our plates these where remove immediately. The starters where delicious with plenty of prawns on the prawn cocktail and the pate had an amazing homemade chutney. The mains where lamb and beef with the whole meal being cooked to perfection and hot with vegetables cooked just right. A lovely touch we felt was the lady out of the restaurant came and asked us if everything was to our liking and was there anything of the meal we would like a little extra off, I dare say you won't get a ton of potatoes or veg but the gesture was very touching and to be honest the meal size was ample. The desert white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake we shared and both agreed it was delicious, and we then shared a cheeseboard which I had got on the three course set menu. The delicious chutney again appeared with varies cheeses, crackers and grapes. Our compliments where left with the manager and the staff with our thanks for serving and delivering multiple resteraunts can not quite achieve. Well done Celtic arms for your polite, professional manner and serving a delicious good quality meal which was ample portioned, reasonably priced in an excellent environment. Would definitely recommend this place it's beautiful and wins hands down on the last 20 plus places we have been over the last few months. We will most definitely be going back again."
