"I have had a few take away meals from The Vine Spice and enjoyed them, so my wife and I treated friends to a meal at the restaurant there. Sadly and surprisingly I was extremely disappointed. One of our friend 's found that the chicken in their meal was undercooked (it was still pale pink and highlighted this to staff. It was taken away and a replacement given. The chicken in this was cooked fine, but the sauce was now much more watery and lacked flavour due to this (the other had a nice, thick creamy sauce . My wife and I are both vegan and member of staff taking our order didn 't seem too sure what this meant. During our meal, we had 3 different members of staff coming up asking us the same questions rather than one member of staff being given responsibility for this role. All the staff were very polite, but it was a little disconcerting to be trying to have a conversation only for another member of staff interrupt to ask a question asked a few minutes previously (e.g. whether everything was alright, whether we required any more drink etc. Our vegan curries had several hard pieces of veg (we don 't overcook our veg and enjoy a slight bite to them, but numerous bits of veg were virtually raw and must 've been chucked into the sauce moments before dishing up and my wife found some onion with the root still attached. Also, I did find the meal to be expensive for what you get. Given this experience, I won 't be getting any more meals from The Vine Spice ."

"An outstanding English pub in a very beautiful English village. The main road through Blewbury belies the incredible village that exists alongside. A warren of small roads lined with well kept houses, riverside leafy walks and history in abundance, seems to lead back to the Red Lion pub. Well it did for us. The pub has been extremely tastefully refurbished and provides everything a great pub should. Good food, good ale, good company and space to do it all. The staff are frenetic in their attempt to provide the best service and manage that with great humour and communication. Easily one of the best pubs I have ever visited in a long life and will return for more."

"One of the rudest owners I have ever met. I booked by phone, arrived with my girlfriend and was greeted by the owner, shown my table and we sat down. After about 5 minutes I had a phone call on my mobile from the owner reminding me I have a table booked and why I hadn 't turned up yet, I said I am already here, you have just sat me down The call was then ended and I was sat there confused. Really nice food but ruined by hearing the manager ringing up everyone that hadn 't arrived in time and lambasting them over the phone from behind the bar. I understand it must be really infuriating people not turning up once they have booked, but shouting at them over the phone is not going to make them want to come ever again."

"We were early evening 6:30 and even though they warn you of delays, as the food is cooked to order, we didn't expect it to take quite so long. The food was good but the service was abysmal. Our six mains came out but no cutlery with it. That arrived and we pointed out we were a portion of fries missing. This was rectified immediately. My salmon had coriander and I had requested none. It was taken away, brought back coriander free (I didn't want the salmon replaced, too wasteful, except it wasn't, there it was under the fish. I scraped it off and put it to the side. When the table was cleared and I pointed out the error, the waitress asked if I'd ordered it without, yes, I said. Oh, my bad was her reply. Hmmn! Two lots of ice cream were ordered, it took them 20 minutes to tell us they didn't have one of the flavours and a further 10 to bring the alternative (one had now been cancelled , again no spoon on a very hot evening! The bill had the full amount for the salmon and both ice creams, though one had been cancelled. They did, after I complained, remove the salmon and one ice cream and I felt like they were doing me a favour! Won't be visiting there again."

"I recently visited this restaurant for a work lunch and I couldn't find any faults with it. The location is beautiful, although parking is limited outside, there is overflow parking further down the main road which is just a short walk away. The pub has a welcoming and cozy atmosphere without feeling too formal. The staff were all friendly, welcoming, and very attentive, especially considering we had a large group. Our food arrived quickly, with starters, mains, and desserts all being served in a timely manner once everyone had their drinks. The portion sizes were generous and the food tasted fresh and homemade. I have already recommended this restaurant to several people and I would definitely visit again!
