"Been here many a time and food always been good. Today, Steak pie and the chips were very dry and did not enjoy. My biggest gripe today is the young waitress chewing her gum, not hiding the fact she had gum in mouth but while taking our order blatantly eating the gum with mouth open. Not only us that noticed but folks at next table were also talking about her. Highly unprofessional!!! Friends daughter works in a different establishment at weekends doing lunches and chewing gum is a big no no! Come on Jackie get tough with your staff, who wants her breathing over their food while she’s chewing her gum"

"I made a reservation for Mother's Day at this restaurant for a 3-course set menu for three people. We have visited this restaurant twice before and the food was excellent on those occasions. However, we were disappointed with our experience yesterday. The kitchen restaurant itself was very cold and we waited for a while to be served. As we predicted, we were given a table near the door, which made us request to move tables for the second time due to the freezing temperature. Many diners were even eating with their coats on. It seemed that a couple of large groups of tourists arrived at the same time as us, causing the restaurant to quickly fill up. There seemed to be too few staff members for the number of customers, although they were all very pleasant but clearly overwhelmed. We had made the reservation several weeks in advance for a lunchtime slot at 1:30, but not all menu choices were available. The lentil broth was bland and unappetizing, possibly the worst we have ever had. Despite this, we were so cold that we ate it for warmth. My mum ordered a prawn salad, which had nice prawns but a minimal amount of dressing. For the second course, we had roast beef dinner which was tasty with a good gravy, but the beef was overcooked and tough, as were the Yorkshire puddings. The vegetables lacked flavor as well. The highlight of the meal was the dessert. Unfortunately, the log burner went off halfway through and the staff did not have time to refill it, causing the room to become colder. The restaurant has a beautiful setting and the drive up to the castle is lovely, particularly in summer. However, we will not be returning for a meal anytime soon."

"The two employees were observed spending more time on their phones and engaging in personal hygiene habits, such as scratching their faces and adjusting their glasses. They also handled rubbish and served food without proper hygiene practices. When I brought this up quietly, the employee serving me seemed annoyed but washed their hands before returning to serve my order. I noticed that I received fewer fish fillets than others who ordered before me, which seemed like a deliberate decision. Despite witnessing similar issues on a previous visit, I chose not to make a fuss. It is concerning that such practices continue, especially given the emphasis on hygiene during the recent pandemic."

"I used to come here often and thought a nice little trip for myself and partner would be nice. for lunch. Our server was a lovely young girl but whoever is in the kitchen now has dropped standards so badly I won’t be back. Our server told us our main meal may take a while so I ordered some pitta bread and humus to munch whilst waiting. It never arrived. When my lunch arrived I was told the humus was also ready. I ordered halloumi on a bun with salad, crisps, chutney and coleslaw on the side. What I got was half a teaspoon of slaw and a pile of lettuce. My partner the same. I complained and the person in charge took my plate away and brought back what is usually served. Never replaced my partners. The attitude and standard has slipped so much in this place from the friendly quality service I received on many other visits. My photos show before and after"

"I usually enjoy Costa cafes, but this particular one was terrible. The staff were rude, the place was dirty and disorganized. Even outside the cafe was filthy. It seems that Costa doesn't take pride in their surroundings. I regret not noticing the warning signs of the exterior before going in. An older woman who served us was visibly annoyed when I looked at the drinks menu, she shouted at me aggressively and asked what I wanted. Another staff member pushed my husband out of the way to refill the merchandise counter, it was incredibly rude. I wonder who trained these individuals? Currently, the cafe is empty with the staff huddled up chatting and relaxing, completely ignoring the dirty tables full of dirty trays. Shame on you Costa! The Montrose branch has turned me off Costa completely. I think I'll try my luck at Starbucks in the future."

"The restaurant has had consistent pricing since opening, but recently it has been disappointing. The only thing we enjoy is the coffee. Unfortunately, the dishwasher has been broken for at least three months (all dips and drinks are served in takeaway containers). This is just one of the issues, as there were no hot food available today, the toilets are sometimes out of order, and the card machine often doesn't work. This location is below standard compared to others. With some time and effort, it could become a flagship store. Most employees are friendly, but the cleanliness of the restaurant could be improved as dirty tables are common. They should make repairs and provide better support to staff in order to improve their service to match their other locations."

"... Philologically, Veneration derives from the Latin venerare , meaning to regard with reverence and respect. I first saw this beautiful word used on the grave-stone of a very dear friend whose occupation was 'Agricultural Contractor '. ... However, today we visited The Plough for a bite to eat, yet again, as promised, and its menu read: simple good food, but with great promise, just like the last time reported. And was this extra promise performed? You bet it was ... and with the lack of the Angus Council 's draconian parking restrictions in The Plough 's street, at least. At best ... was the service and the food in the very pleasant bar cooked by a hidden culinary gem of a chef and served by the barman/owner. I had Scampi with Chips and an Egg and my wife opted for a Macaroni 'n Cheese dish, both of which, for under six quid each, were as great a light lunch as one could wish to have ... And we were far from alone there ... the dining area was busy for the hour we spent in the bar with what looked like a happy, regular and satisfied bunch of folk. Venerate any business that sets out to serve its customers with dignity and offers to keep open the doors to true value for money. The Plough ploughs forth along this honourable furrow."

"The food was undoubtedly great and most of the staff were lovely. I had the arbroath smokie pancake and it was delicious and completely bone-free. My husband had the fish in oatmeal which was also very tasty. The menu was really interesting and varied with...plenty of fish dishes and local dishes including mince and skirlie and the space itself is lovely and cosy. Our issue was with the passive aggressive way the older waitress/owner drew our attention to the fact that we were breaking her rules because we had left our face masks lying on our table. She physically reached right across us to the far side of our table and said “let me just move this”, moved a vase of flowers to one side and waited. We were bemused. She watched and said nothing. And then we read the sign which had been hidden by the vase which said something like “please do not leave your face mask lying on the table”. Fair enough. We hadn’t seen the sign but the way she drew our attention to it was poor. In my view, we were at far more risk from being so very close to the coughing man at the incredibly close next table! Very very weird way of dealing with it, especially as she then directed us (like she was our primary school teacher) to put the masks away in our pockets. The whole exchange just left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Not sure If we’d go back but at least we’d be ready for her next time!"

"Ordered online and specified a time for collection order wasn’t ready on arrival we had to wait a further twenty minutes past collection time. On arrival not many staff, and what staff there was all seemed disorganised. Eventually got order and was hoping for it to be correct having driven 10 miles to get there and it being wrong on previous occasions. All was ok on arrival home, the food was good but the wait and the disorganisation makes me unsure if I will return any time soon!"

"THIS is a great place to eat and visit. I’ve been here many times and will visit again. Whilst the inside of this restaurant looks like a cafeteria it might make you think the food may be iffy however, this is definitely a place to try! Parking is a bit tight, but that’s such a minor thing. I’ve been here so many times and the food is always amazing, hot and delicious. The store has unique gifts and souvenirs! The bathrooms are clean! Peggy Scott’s is reasonably priced with delicious food something I’m sure the locals know all about! "Nestled on the main hill Upto the shopping centre from the train station this little place offers a varied tai menu. We managed to get a table without booking on what clearly was a busy Friday night. Staff were initially attentive and keen to get us seated but did take a little while to take our order. We put this down to being so busy. StFf were friendly and happy to suggest additions to to your menu choices. Food was quickly served, came hot and packed full of flavour. Good portion sizes and lots of options. The only thing was that if sat near the door, there’s a regular flow of delivery drivers opened the door so the chill from outside does make the legs cold. Also we ordered single rums and we’re given doubles, of course we were charged for doubles so worth keeping an eye on. Overall it’s 5 starts purely down to the food. An excellent choice for a night out or a quick bite (or even takeaway)"

"Fancied trying a Dinos yesterday for dinner, nice wee place the owner was really nice when I asked to swap items from my meal, so I ordered BBQ base pizza with pulled pork some donner meat chips cheese (they forgot to give cheese) lol never mind and the donner kebab and I swapped the garlic pizza for chicken ghoujons, pizza outstanding one of the best I've tasted chips really good the kebab was nice but didn't like the chilli sauce with kebab, chicken was really tasty aswell I'd defo return again! 5/5 just remember my cheese next time haha.!"

"Stayed here for two nights, The staff were lovely, really helpful , the bar food was excellent, huge portions and well cooked. There ends the good stuff ….. Breakfast was served by a lovely lady, who seemed to be doing everything. Service was good and she was pleasant, but the hot food was mediocre. Totally unimaginative cereal, processed juice, and what tasted of cheap ingredients in the cooked breakfast. Our room (4) had little or no wifi signal, and the double glazing was no match for the traffic passing by 6 feet from the building. The thumping of the juke box in the bar directly below us was turned down after we mentioned it. I hope the owner values his staff, they are truly customer service orientated , but he needs to address issues in this tired hotel."

"Up in Angus for the week and we were determined to visit this pub before heading back to Edinburgh, we were not disappointed. The pub is very welcoming indeed, not just it's ambience but the staff/owners as well. A very warm welcome for our furry 4 legged woofer always goes down well. We stopped for lunch, scampi and chips and lasagne and chips, both very pleasing, good size portions and very tasty. We had a pudding too, the ginger sponge and custard and the warm chocolate fudge cake and ice cream, which rounded off the lunch very well. It's great to see a pub that is still a pub and serving great food too. Well worth the visit. Thank you to the lovely staff for making us feel so welcome and for feeding us very well indeed, what a pleasure."

"My wife and I sat in for a meal at 5pm on 26/04/2023. Upon entering, the waitress was sitting at a table. She did acknowledge us but didn't bother to show us to a table, only asking if we had booked then pointing to a table by the window. This attitude gives a very unprofessional first impression of the restaurant. Having eaten here on a few occasions we were disappointed to notice the portion sizes seem to have shrunk. We ordered the sharing platter to start with which appeared to be padded out with raw carrot and onions. We ordered Honey chili chicken and the shredded beef for mains sharing a portion of fried rice. We have no complaints about the food as it tasted great but just a pity there wasn't enough. We did mention to the waitress that the food was as nice as always but felt the portion size had been reduced and we didn't feel it was value for money."
