"The continental breakfast (included in my room rate) was laughable. 1 small round table with a few fruits, some juices and cheeses - hardly what I could call a breakfast. The "deluxe room" doesn't even have a floor to ceiling coverage for the bathroom so steam from your shower penetrates the bedroom. The biggest disappointment for me is Les Pecheurs, the restaurant with a supposed Michelin star (or guide) - I'm not one for Michelin star dining but this place is pompous and the food and service is terrible. All we wanted was a small dinner and this was the only place available to eat without leaving the hotel after we checked in at 7:30 pm. We walked into the restaurant, which was completely empty and were shown to the worst possible table by the till (no where near a window) - when I requested to move, I was told all the other tables were reserved which I could not believe given the place was empty. The starter was unmemorable and I had ordered the duck for main which was more than well done when I had ordered medium - the restaurant director (Angelo -) was adamant the duck was medium and at first refused to take the food back. While my partner finished her food which I had to share I waited for the duck to return. Upon return it was only mildly less well done than it was before and he had the audacity to say this is what medium is in France - Regardless of my culinary expertise or his, the way he spoke to me was unacceptable and completely ruined our trip to this hotel. Angelo denied us a good table and then argued with us about the food. After we were finished, the restaurant still had at least two other tables which were vacant and we would have preferred to sit in - I strongly don't believe every other person in there had booked a specific table and can only put Angelo's treatment for us down to the colour of our skin."

"My husband and I were lucky enough to spend our honeymoon at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc and it was the best decision we’ve ever made. We’re already thinking about coming back next summer — it was truly beyond what we had imagined and more. Based on reading the reviews, a few things stood out to me: 1. Service: I have received not-so-great service at other 5-star hotels around the world as a woman of color, but not here. I NEVER felt that I didn’t belong here and all staff made me feel so welcome and comfortable as soon as my husband and I entered the hotel grounds. At times, we felt that everyone was TOO NICE! 2. On-site amenities: My husband and I like to stay active and the tennis court and gym are unbeatable. We were able to reserve a spot each day with no issue. 3. Decor: It seems like a lot of people have issues with how “outdated” the room decor was and urged the hotel to change the decor but I disagree. The current interior decor is traditional and aligns well with what the hotel’s aesthetic is like both inside and out. If you prefer to stay in modern hotel rooms, this is NOT the place for you and you should book a modern hotel instead of staying at a hotel with a long and rich history. 4. Attention to detail: Building off the first point, we were showered with really special touches throughout our stay at Hotel du Cap. Maybe it was because we were honeymooning or because our travel agent had an existing relationship with the hotel but we did receive thoughtful gifts and exceptional service throughout our time. I was left speechless each night! 5. Accessibility: As a guest, I prefer to have better access to all the amenities that the hotel has to offer. I read a few reviews regarding how hotel guests were let in before non-guests and non-guests were upset but I think the management should continue to keep the policy the same. Why are guests required to pay 2000 euros a night if we’re not going to be let in before non-guests to bars and restaurants AT THE HOTEL? It totally doesn’t make sense. We were truly blown away by everything and can’t wait to come back with our family, friends, and (one day) kids in the future. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to be on our honeymoon and we’re already dreaming of returning!"

"This little gem was in an alley way just around the corner from our accommodations in Antibes and they specialized in paella which was made fresh to order. The restaurant will prepare the paella for 2, 4, 6 or 8 people and if you call ahead and let them know what you want it can be customized to a certain extent with a variety of ingredients such as seafood, chicken and sausage. First the place; it is small and cozy in a rustic decor reflecting its Spanish heritage. In general L'Ecureuil Espagnol makes you feel like you wondered off the streets into some little hole in the wall gem that is a well kept secret with the locals. Great Start. This may be great or this may be bad but there is something interesting enough to make you sit down and give it a try. Then it just becomes magical. A bottle of local wine, the owner spends time to guide you to a wonderful seafood paella that is so delicious erases the memory of the horrible dish by the same name you suffered through in Avignon days earlier, After the meal the Chef comes out of the kitchen and you have a conversation about your respective lives and experiences and how this path led you both to be sitting in this restaurant in Antibes on this day; how your dish was prepared and; the secrets he has to making a great paella. You feel connected to someone 5,000 miles from home and laugh and talk for half and hour and just feel like the most important people there "la famille". He was so proud of his signature dish and truly wanted this to be a memorable evening for me and my wife, and it was. While we were eating dessert the owner and chef returned with two bottles of liquor and the most important question of the meal ,,,we have a lemoncello and a green apple liquor will you please try them and let us know which you you think is better. I am not certain which was better but I do know that some days having dinner a block away from your hotel was great decision."
