"Due to covid restrictions the restaurant is only supplying pre prepared takeaway meals, but what a treat. Simple re heat instructions left us with a superb meal for two, of five star quality, for less than thirty pounds. I have no idea how they do it.If you're considering a takeaway, give it a try, you're in for a real treat. Many thanks to staff at On the Hill."

"Like many other people, my wife and I were amazed by the great reviews for the food and service at this relatively small restaurant in Llandrillo. We were staying in Corwen, the night before going to a wedding, and we were very lucky indeed to get a table for 8pm. We were not disappointed Caroline and Chris are both very welcoming, attentive and the food is simply stunning (and the wine was great too). Chris is a magician! He really is brilliant at what he does. He is so thorough and he has clearly spent many years honing his craft – there is so much attention to detail. If you (and your family and friends) like good food, then this is the place to go! The flavours, textures, temperatures and presentation of the food are all excellent. The size of the portions are really good and sensible and the relatively low prices are amazing (especially considering the very high standard of the cuisine and service). We’ve eaten out twice recently, one in a city restaurant and the other in a country pub. We paid much more for each course and while the food was good it was not as good as that served at the Berwyn Restaurant. This restaurant is very highly recommended but, we were lucky, book in advance to avoid disappointment!"

"We have been coming to Llangollen for a few years now and this is the only cafe/ bistro we go to while here! We have been staying in a nearby B&B this week and have been going to The Deeside for cream teas, and dinner every day this week! The food is always fresh and tastes amazing. The staff have been friendly chatty and helpful. There is a large selection of food and drinks available and the staff are always happy to suggest recommendations. This place is dog friendly, with the staff sitting you appropriately to keep some distance between the dogs so everyone can enjoy the atmosphere. Everything is reasonably priced and great value for money."

"a disappointing experience at gales today, where we often visit. we had booked and arrived for 12:15, we were shown to our table, but service was very slow to offer us a drink, but finally this happened. we waited and waited and had to ask. if we could order food. it was a special mothering day set menu or mothing Sunday, as the menu actually sad. that were three main dishes, bark meat, pork and a nut roast, but at the order we were told that the bark would not be ready for an hour! so we ordered a starter to share camembert with sourdough. this came and was satisfactory. we waited and waited then and finally an hour and a quarter after arriving the most important courses. Unfortunately the whole meal was lukewarm, three small slices of pork, a carrot, cauliflower and bratkartoffeln. the kartoffels had hard skin left leather that was unusable. no one asked about the cursor when everything was satisfactory. we had a sweet order, but decide it on a day. we explained during the payment that the main course was unsatisfactory and the person responsible pulled the cost of eating and only accused us of our drinks. Nevertheless, the whole experience was extremely disappointing and unsatisfactory."

"We called in for an impromptu lunch whilst in the area. It was mid week so quiet to start but did fill up slowly. We sat on the terrace to dine al fresco as it was a hot September day and the views were uninterrupted and peaceful. There was some nice, unobtrusive music playing in the background adding t9 the ambience. I ordered the steak frites and hubby the steak ale pie. Both were plentiful on the plate, and the pie was definitely home made, it reminded me of my grandmother serving up out of the old blue white pie dish with its thick crust and chunks of beef! I enjoyed the steak frites and there was a good amount of both…and a good serving boat of peppercorn sauce. Every member of staff we encountered were helpful, polite, happy and smiling. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The dishes were priced comparatively to other similar establishments. My slight gripe was that there was only one table parasol available on the decking area, which we luckily had use of, as it was very hot sitting unshaded."

"For only £10 each, we had an amazing afternoon tea take away from Vintage Sugar Tea Rooms. The meal included four sandwiches, a delicious sausage roll, a scone with cream and jam, lemon cake, cream sponge, a chocolate brownie (so tasty!), and a couple of fresh strawberries. It was a fantastic value for what we received. It was a lovely experience catching up with friends in my 'She Shed' while practicing social distancing. It was a nice break from everything related to Covid. The tea rooms are open Thursday to Saturday, and they had all the necessary Covid protocols in place. Thank you for brightening our day with such a great meal."

"Not an extensive menu, but everybody should find something acceptable. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the service was quick (7pm on a Friday) and the food was hot, plentiful and delicious. We ate from the specials board."

"We came here tonight as it had been recommended to us. We were not dissapointed. I am vegetarian so I started with garlic mushrooms serve on a puri bread, really succulent and tasty. For my main course I had a mixed vegetable dansack and a chipati. The vegetables were fresh and not overcooked, the chipati was freshly made and cooked, it made me realise how poor the usual offerings are at other Indian restaurants. My wife started with prawn puri and she chose a chicken curry with ginger, mint and spices. Delicious. Very helpful and attentive staff can highly recommend this establishment."

"Really saddens me to be writing this, this has been one of my favourite places for over 10 years but this is the second visit in a couple of months where the food has been terrible, and today I don’t feel the staff were overly friendly either. Visited for a birthday treat with friends, had to ask to be served, then the waitress appeared a little miserable. Food came out and I’d ordered a Grilled Halloumi salad, at £10.70 I expected a nice full salad, what I was actually presented with was a small amount of chopped bits at the bottom of a bowl, no eggs as stated and quite frankly no where near enough salad for £10.70! I sent it back for the eggs only for it to then be brought back out with avocado instead and told they had no eggs. I do not like avocado so at this point I sent it back and didn’t eat anything. The member of staff (sue) was apologetic and offered me chips, but I’m currently trying to make better food choices and was looking forward to a nice salad. As this is the second bad visit recently I am afraid I won’t be back. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful place but has really gone downhill recently."

"my daughter, granddaughter and I had afternoon tea here yesterday, the price was £9.95 we were served well i say served we had an afternoon tray plonked on the table containing a cheese sandwich and a Tuna sandwich a small victoria sponge which was so dry we couldn't eat them and a scone with a tiny bit of butter, i asked if we could put a candle in one of the little cakes so my granddaughter could sing happy birthday to her mummy i was huffed at then they forgot to do it, when we had finished a very unhappy waitress came and stuck the candle in a cake. I am extremely upset by the whole experience as £25 does not come easy. i will definitely not be returning"

"We decided to book a table here as we were visiting Ruthin and saw that it was dog-friendly. It is in a beautiful, quiet setting with stunning views and has a car park which is free to use for patrons. We took the opportunity to walk the dogs for a couple of miles in the nature reserve opposite, before entering the pub for some food and drink. Both of these were spot on. I tried the Hobgoblin session IPA and Butcombe ale which were both great. My wife had a lime and soda and a glass of Malbec, which was very nice indeed. We shared a starter of Pretzel Breads with Salami and Mustard. My main was the Pork Schnitzel and my wife had the Cheese and Pork Wurst with mash and sauerkraut. All of the food was just perfect. The portions were huge and the quality was spot on. It was all delicious and we were very pleased. I would say it was great value for money. The inside of the pub was large, yet very cosy feeling and the decor was both traditional, welcoming and full of character and stories. The owners are also very welcoming and have stories to tell too! I wish we had been able to stay longer, but we will definitely return for the food, drink, atmosphere and chat. What a find!!! Oh, and Cheesy Madam is something you'll just have to ask the owner about!"

"I stayed for 2 nights in The New Inn and really enjoyed my stay. The room I had (Room 1) was comfortable and was pretty much exactly what you’d need. It was clean and it had a nice shower and comfortable bed. For meals, downstairs...has a nice bar area with outdoor spaces too. I hadn’t booked a table for food before I arrived, but the staff were still able to fit me in. The food was nice too and the menu prices were quite low, which was a surprise as usually you expect to pay more when you are in touristy areas. I had tea here both nights. The staff were nice and friendly too. The area is nice too. Rhuddlan has its own castle, which is literally a 2 min walk from the hotel, and is worth a look around. There are loads of places to see in the area for touristy things. Conwy is about 30 mins away by car and Anglesey is just a bit further from there. Gwryrch Castle is also very close by too. The seaside town of Rhyl is just 5-10 mins by car."

"I have not been to a Marstons pub that has been soo cleaned, welcoming and rewarding before. We came for lunch and drinks. The hostess was welcoming, well mannered and presentable. The food options were great, reasonably priced and tasted even better. I would highly recommend and I will definitely be back again. Thanks to all of the staff, I hope you get to read this review."

"Location: The three eagles is easy to find in the town centre, about 1 minute walk from the bridge. There is no parking on the streets immediately surrounding it. Disabled access: with outside booths, ground floor bar and restaurant, access should be possible for most....Staff: all the staff were young, friendly and efficient. It was strangely reassuring to see them all in the same uniform. Pros: Food and drinks were all reasonably priced. We had the Sunday lunch (beef or roast of the day or mixed). Great to see a mixture of different vegetables instead of the usual peas and carrots. This had cabbage, mashed root veg, roast potatoes and a bowl of cauliflower cheese. Delicious. The meat was plentiful and very tasty. There’s also a very mixed and interesting menu, so something for every Cons: The the meal is served with the gravy on. Why? If you serve an average amount, then statistically most people will think it’s either too much or too little (we found it too much). So serve it separate and let everyone give themselves the amount they want. Secondly, they add a 7% gratuity onto the bill automatically. They shouldn’t. They should let us decide if the food and service warrant it (it did, but that’s not the point). They shouldn’t put people in the awkward position of having to ask to not pay. Wifi: yes. Definitely worth trying and we will visit again the next time we’re passing through."

"In Wales on holidays from Ireland and called in here on reviews and was not disappointed, family of 5. Lovely lady attend to us straight away. We had 2 starters between us, nachos and garlic bread with cheese, and both were delicious. Thought the best had arrived but we were wrong, my wife had the fishcakes which were terrific and I had a homemade pie from their list which also was great. The chips that came out too were just delicious, kids had a burger and a pizza. 2 rounds of drinks with 4 mains and 2 starters all very reasonably priced. All couldn't have been better, so much so we booked to go back again tomorrow for their 2 steaks and bottle of wine for £19 (Wed to Fri), could recommend enough"

"It was the first time I visited this wonderful Italian restaurant and it definitely will not be the last. The menu was fantastic and it was difficult to choose from all the options available. I would love to be able to work my way through the entire menu and that will take a lot of returns visits but that's fine. The prices are very reasonable especially when the portion sizes are perfect and the quality of the food is so high. There were five of us in our party and every one of us were really happy with the whole experience food, pricing, ambiance and service. 10 out of 10."

"Just had the most amazing meal at the Nant Y Felin! Beef was cooked to perfection and the portion sizes of my main and pudding were plenty. The meal was so tasty and homecooked. "Had a take out, started well with fresh popadoms, starters were average, shared a chicken chat and mixed starter, then shared a butter chicken , the curry literally had no taste, very watery and the rice had more taste than the curry. The chicken in it was very small peices and of poor quality, found a bone aswell. We didn’t eat and binned it. Very disappointed as we had heard good reviews about the place. Wouldn’t return unfortunately"
"I first reviewed the Kinmel Arms on a hot summer day in August 2016, when we had our meal in the sunshine outside when we were first exploring the possibility of moving into the area. No such sunshine when, having lived here three years, we...went again today on a bleak chill autumn day with a threat of rain! And we've also been to the Kinmel a couple of times subsequently, prior to our visit today, though I didn't review those later visits on this site. Our impression on our first visit was positive: pretty standard pub grub', but well presented and quickly served by friendly staff at a very reasonable price. I was less taken with the place on the second visit; the menu seemed less varied than previously and those was only one main course that really tempted me. And the service felt a bit perfunctory, though the meal which I chose was well cooked and tasty. On the third visit the menu had bucked up and I'd no complaints! The advantage which the Kinmel offers is that it's virtually the only country pub at least that I know of in this part of the eastern side of Dyffryn Clwyd which serves lunches each day. Most rural locals' hereabouts either don't open at lunchtime or, if they do, they don't serve meals. So when we decided today to have lunch out without going too far from home, the Kinmel was the sole option. Since our earlier visits the menu has got noticeably pricier, but in fairness it's also been noticeably enhanced. There are still some pub grub' options, but today there were a number of more out-of-the-ordinary options too. We both began with the soup of the day, broccoli and stilton, which was absolutely delicious, both in flavour and texture. And partridge, which neither of us had ever tried before, was on offer in a couple of main courses. So I went for the partridge casserole with asparagus spears and potato, while my other half chose Thai-style red partridge curry. Both totally delicious and very filling, so we had no room for a sweet! We paid £34, including drinks. Well worth it, and, as it's less than two miles from us, we'll certainly be going again."
