"I've heard rave reviews from family and friend's about the Sugar Plum for quite some time and I'm surprised I've not visited before now. We booked both afternoon tea and the normal menu for a Saturday mother's day treat for my mum, ex wife (I know! and our youngest to avoid the madding Sunday crowd. The experience was excellent from start to end. We arrived a little early because of light traffic so had a browse around and I noticed a lot of happy diners and little white boxes leaving. We were to find out why later. The food was excellent and plenty of it. The afternoon tea for £20 I can say without doubt is excellent value. One of the best I've experienced and the best value I've had. But the star of the afternoon was our waitress (sorry I've forgotten your name . She was superb. Her interaction with Alexander and Agnes was brilliant as were also the other staff. It was an absolute joy and so lovely to experience. Nothing was any trouble. 5 stars plus plus. As for the little white boxes. There is so much choice you can't eat it all but you can take it home to share. We had a wonderful unhurried afternoon with excellent food and excellent service. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. You are now on the list. We'll be back."

We went for afternoon tea. The food, drink and service were all excellent. There is indoor and outdoor seating. They catered well for a vegetarian.

Went with my husband to meet up with a friend for lunch. All the staff were lovely, very helpful but not in your face. The food was great, we had leek and potato soup and a sandwich and we couldn't resist a cake. View menu

It has always been a pleasure each time we visit the Sugar Plum tea room. We had two different meals off the menu both were really tasty, with a pot of tea for two. The wife selected a huge piece of coffee n walnut cake to take home for later. Well done all at this lovely cafe.

We had a baby shower for our friend at the Sugarplum and the food, staff and space was brilliant. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and the children, the afternoon tea was lovely with a variety of savoury and sweet treats! We cant thank them enough! We will be back again soon!

Out walking in the area around Rhewl, having parked in the little carpark there, I googled somwhere to have lunch. We turned up at The Sugar Plum Tearooms. Of course it was very busy and we hadn’t booked. We told them we would be quick and they shuffled sittings around to accommodate us. Which they didn’t have to View menu

I found this lovely tearoom on the internet, what a find ! I called in with a group of ladies returning home from my daughters hen weekend looking for coffee and a sugar fix ! The cafe is full of crafts and lovely food and cakes. The staff were so friendly and helpful…the Bakewell tart to die for and loved the elephant wallpaper in the toilet I would definitely recommend this lovely place for a stop off. Also had parking

Just asked my partner to get me a take away from you and I’m so so disappointed I’ve felt the need to share with you so you can do better, £5.50 for a blt that is just awful, no mayo one slice of tomato half a bit of bacon and sliced bread not a fresh loaf it was dry and horrible this is just not great at all. I totally understand prices been high small businesses have it far to tough now but the quality can not and should not be compromised. I’ll pay for good food but I will not accept garbage.

"Went for afternoon tea with my wife, using an 'experience ' voucher from a well known site, costing £35.99 absolute disaster! The description said 'sit down in the sophisticated dining room and tuck into a section of finger sandwiches, tantalising cakes, pastries, macarons and scones with clotted cream and jam. You won 't want this afternoon to end! ' Trust me, we could not get out of their quick enough and go and find somewhere to get something to eat. The sophisticated dining room was a large, cold room with only a couple of other diners, sticky wooden tables, with no table cloths, just a flimsy paper napkin and a knife and fork. We ordered a coffee and a tea, which came in the smallest teapot, I have ever seen. Later in the meal, when we asked for another drink, we were told that was extra and were charged another £5.70. The food was nothing like as described or pictured on the website. A sad looking selection of sandwiches four quarters each of thin sliced bread one containing a very small piece of processed ham, a second mashed up egg, third was some sort of fish, not sure if it was salmon or tuna; and finally some sort of green leaf with something wet on top it looked like the sandwich had been made days earlier and then sat upon! No pastries or macarons but the two scones with clotted cream and two little pots of jam were OK, however the remaining small cakes were dreadful, none of them were fresh there were two eclairs that were inedible, either the cream or chocolate was off and they were very dry; two little red velvet cakes, which again were dry and horrible; and finally two small pieces of carrot cake that were the least objectionable but again very dry. When we told the waitress the eclairs, she said she would tell the chef but no offer of an alternative. True, it was an unforgettable experience, but not in the way we had expected! We have had afternoon teas in top hotels, pubs, cafes and well known garden centres and nothing came close to being as bad as this meal. Needless to say we will never return and would strongly advise caution if anyone is thinking of going here."
