"Went here for a meal last night with my inlaws. Hadn't been before, I purely picked this pub because it was half way between our house and my inlaws house and it seem to have really good reviews! But......I'm sorry to say that we were really disappointed! The staff were lovely and accommodating, so kudos to them for that! But the food was shocking! First of all, they had run out of most things on the menu. There was absolutely no vegetarian options, as they had run out of both vegetarian options on the menu. So I asked them to make me the pasta dish without the meatballs and bulk it out with veg instead. The pasta came out, as for the veg they were supposed to bulk it out with, I ended up with 2 solitary pieces of stemmed brocoli on the top of pasta in tomato sauce! My mother inlaw's lamb came out, and it was as tough as leather and looked so small and unappetising! My husband's steak which he asked for medium well, was rare (although they did send out some cheese and biscuits as way of an apology and took some money off of this dish). The food didn't seem like it was cooked by a chef at all. It tasted and looked like half reasonable home cooking. The sticky toffee pudding seemed to have come out of a tin and had been microwaved! The portions were tiny for the the prices we paid! Burger buns were very small! They had run out of the peppercorn sauce, the beef cheek, both vegetarian dishes, mushrooms (which was supposed to come with the steak). Given the fact the menu is fairly small, there was a large percentage missing, which just caused disappointment and regret for choosing here to eat! I have to be honest and say I probably wouldn't come back here with how things are right now. I think there is a lot to be worked on. It says online that this is a gastro pub, but the food quality and options were nowhere close to being gastro I'm afraid! The staff were lovely, so the foundations are good. But everything else needs huge improvement! One last thing I must mention is the fact we booked a table, but ended up outside on bench seats. My inlaws are fairly old with my father inlaw having alot of osteo problems, my husband also has back problems. The seats were incredibly uncomfortable and we all had to keep getting up! The bench table we had was also uneven, so didn't meet the floor properly and was rocking all evening. It wasn't what you'd expect from a booked table. I don't mind sitting outside, as space inside is limited, but you need to have tables with proper wooden chairs with backs on them for the booked tables."

"I visited this cafe on a Saturday lunch time. All the outside tables were taken so we sat inside. It was a bit confusing and looks like they have joined two separate units as there were tables and chairs with a counter, a narrow corridor and then another room with more tables and chairs and a bit in the corner where drinks were made. There were no menus on the tables and it was not clear if you had to order at the counter. After a good five minutes a waitress came to our table but only took orders for drinks, and another waitress took food orders. We had a pot of tea for one, a coffee, a diet Coke, a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich and a BLT sandwich. At first the waitress said that they had run out of bacon but could do one with sausage to which we agreed. Then she returned to say they had lit the grill ? and could do bacon. Both sandwiches came with a bit of side salad and coleslaw. The sandwich fillings were quite generous. The bill came to £24.70. I could not see a toilet for disabled people, and the toilet appeared to be unisex. Inside was an area with a washbasin and two toilets but one was marked out of order with a chair placed in front to prevent use. In the remaining toilet there was an area where tiles were coming off the wall and some grouting and bits off the stud partition wall were littering the floor. There was a sign saying Do Not Touch, but no sign apologising for the condition of the wall. I do not know how long the toilet was in this condition but the staff should have swept the floor at the very least. I would not visit this cafe again."

"Poor management, this is supposedly a top wedding venue! I Weeds galore right at the entrance. Plants in need of dead heading and some care. Not a good start! Beer pumps not regularly cleaned out, as there was high evidence of half drunk pints everywhere, having purchased several pints I can see why, having worked within the hospitality industry for nearly 30 years, and having done my cellar management course, the beer was rank! And supposedly a premium beer! The spirits and pump soft drinks left a lot to be desired as well. The same round cost 3 different prices depending on who served you, each time it went up! When questioned the person before was blamed for undercharging you! Food served in the evening was over cooked dry and not very appetising. Not to mention run out very quickly before everyone had chance to eat, and some evening guests were unable to attend last minute. Breakfast was ok, but again poorly managed in quantity, croissants were all gone just after half 8, breakfast served between 8-10! Chairs used in the wedding ceremony were borderline on collapsing! No direct lifts to floor on which wedding was conducted!!! Leaving some guests severely struggling, not acceptable Would advise anyone considering this venue to be ruthless when been shown around and test and try everything out. Weddings are not cheap, and Fanhams Hall leaves an awful lot to be desired."
