"they have the carvery to order here, it is the best. both the standard of presentation, taste are second to not think that savoy in london could make better! I have counted at least veg on offer. the value is also excellent. they can say how popular it is, how to return human time after the time, I included. from the warm welcome they receive from lou and their team, to the great sense of humor from the first-class chef rik makes them feel, they have visited family! only booked for Christmas!"

"I had heard great things about this restaurant from a friend, and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed a delicious brioche bun with chicken, speck mayo, and a latte for lunch, followed by a decadent dessert. The crumb cheesecake was to die for, but I definitely want to try the lemon baked cake next time. I also took a chicken and mushroom muffin home for a snack, and it was amazing with a cheesy kick! The restaurant is located by the river, so I look forward to sitting on the deck in the summer. Thank you! x"

"Five of us went for Sunday lunch after reading the 5-star reviews. The pub and staff were very nice, located in a rural area. However, more signs are needed to direct customers to the car park, as some cars were left on the road. Unfortunately, the Sunday roast did not meet the high standards mentioned in the reviews. The beef was tough, the mashed potatoes were sloppy, and the roast potatoes were not crispy but more like boiled potatoes covered in fat and herbs. Additionally, there was only a small dish of peas and carrots for five people, which was not enough. The sticky toffee pudding dessert was tasty, but there was too much sauce on two servings and very little on the other. Also, they could not offer any options for a non-dairy person, despite knowing about it when booking. All of us agreed that it was not good value for money."

"We’ve visited the Hawarden Estate Farm shop on two occasions now and loved spending time there. The shop in which you enter is lovely and the coziness of the fire in the restaurant is so nice even in the summer! However be warned you will end up smelling like smoke! We brought our daughter to the little growers club and had a fantastic time! The two gentleman running it were so knowledgeable and really let our daughter get stuck in! We picked loads of fruit and veg that we got to take home and planted a few plants! We also did the trail which was lovely to explore the estate a bit more. The second visit We went to the forage and make class hosted by Mia and it was fab! We made nature Wands and crowns and Mia was so lovely, our daughter absolutely loved it. Was so nice to get outside exploring and then get creative! I would say the only downfall of the place is the pricing of the food. Everything is organic and grown there however it is very steep in price. The food has been enjoyable but just expensive. The Apple juice is freshly squeezed and is lush but again, expensive! Def would recommend a visit here though, loads of activities, exploring, and fruit picking to be done!"

"Fantastic meal. We pass every weekend but last night decided to pop in to see if they could cater for me being Coeliac so need gluten free. Very friendly and gluten free dishes highlighted on the menu. We ended up staying for a delicious meal. Highly recommend."

"This place is superb. From the time we walked in until we left we were made to feel very welcome, like we were new friends. Knowing we were bringing our dog, the table had dog treats and a water bowl ready and waiting for us. We have never known such excellent service before coming here, they go above and beyond to make your visit an enjoyable one. The food was delicious and if you wanted more veg, chips or gravy you only had to ask. They even asked my partner if he wanted them to take his cottage pie out of the dish and put it on his plate to cool it down a bit. He said yes and the did it for him. They were mindful of my gluten sensitivity and advised accordingly. Your not limited to just have ice cream or custard or cream with your pudding, you can have all 3 if you like. Like I say if they can do anything to make you experience better, they will. There is such a friendly atmosphere here. We ate here twice and can't wait to visit again and highly highly recommend eating here."

"My family and I have been enjoying delicious meals from Jim's for years. I especially love the incredibly spicy dishes that Jim always prepares with the highest quality ingredients. The portion sizes are generous and can even provide leftovers for another meal. The prices are fair considering the excellent quality and quantity of food. We have never been disappointed with our meals from Jim's - I can't praise this place enough! It is run by a fantastic family and consistently provides top-notch service. I would rate it ten out of ten for service and food!"

"The food itself is always great and the price is always fair , portion sizes are massive and the food is always hot . But the staff and owners have no loyalty to customers , I am a regular customer , sometimes buy 2+ times a week (same meal each time) , I live in the same postcode grid as the chippy but sometimes cannot get out due to small children being in bed, I regularly ring for food after everyone is settled usually around 8-9 , many times now I have called the chippy for delivery and been told no delivery’s only pick up, baring in mind it doesn’t close untill 10pm. As a regular customer I sometimes feel that I am Not valued and appreciated as I feel that my location and the frequency Of my visits should be taken into consideration when I try and place an order . The lady is quite rude on the phone and doesn’t show any compassion or understanding. The chippy clearly does well and doesn’t need my orders, their attitude reflects that I just feel that they could improve their customer service . Usual waiting time for delivery is 1.5 hours I Assume two dragons know who I am . Would deserve more stars if staff shown a little appreciation and customer service skills."

"We visited for Sunday lunch a couple of Sunday's ago and the welcome could not have been warmer. We visited as a party of 8 people for Sunday lunch which I can only describe as outstanding. There was a fabulous selection of meats which you could mix and match and a separate dish of fresh vegetables. What topped it for me was the masses of gravy and the fact that all of the meals arrived at the same time and piping hot. Hats off to the chef for the amazing food! The desserts were fabulous and my cheese board was superb. Thank you to the landlady and landlord who made us feel so so welcome. It really was the best Sunday lunch and hospitality I have ever exoereienced, and we will definitely return. Thanks from Tracey, Andy Family"

"My partner and I enjoyed pizza and desserts on a Saturday evening. He had the Sam Gamgee (mushroom) and I had a Hawaiian with mushrooms. The pizzas are a generous size. We hadn't eaten lunch so we managed a whole pizza each, but I wasn't surprised to see others taking leftovers home. You can taste how fresh the ingredients are. Perfectly cooked in a stone pizza oven, which is also fun to watch from your table. The atmosphere was relaxed, cosy and comfortable. The service was excellent. We had a waffle and an affogato for dessert which was also lovely. The owners were so friendly and welcoming. We were staying near Trelogan but couldn't anywhere else in the area that did proper stonebaked pizza. Alexander's was exactly what we were looking for. We'll be recommending it in the guest book at the Airbnb we're staying in."
"Visited here with a friend after recommendation locally. Lovely, clean, welcoming place in the Friary grounds. Staff are so polite and caring, it was a pleasure to visit. Excellent basic food including fishfinger butties which are highly recommended , freshly prepared. They even offer to put more boiling water on your pot of tea without extra charge that is very rare! The cakes are superb. We only tasted then on the grounds of research ! but just don't miss them. This place is very small but popular locally, well worth a lunchtime visit."

"Well well well, it seems I've found the greatest place on earth. I was yearning for some food i asked some friends and got recommended new city. I am forever in debt to the friend that told me about this place. As i approached the location the scent i caught made me feel like i was floating. I walked through the door and was greeted by a friendly teen i introduced myself and asked for his name, it was Alan. I ordered fish, chips, char siu noodles, sweet and sour chicken and prawn chow Mein. The teen swiftly prepared my meal and we had a lovely chat whilst he did. As i took my food back i was itching to open it, as i took the first bite of my food i was strook by an immense sadness, a realisation, an epiphany that i would never again taste food of this calibre. New city single handedly produced the greatest dish i have ever experienced. I cannot recommend this place enough as it changed the course of my life with the first bite. Again i feel like i need to emphasise the politeness and level of cooking skill the teen behind the counter possessed and believe they have a real star. Again please check out new city"

"This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is delicious, from their Italian dishes to their omelettes. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, making everyone feel at home. The restaurant is always busy, but Maria still manages to greet customers. She may not always answer the phone because of this, but you can find the correct number for the cafe on their Facebook page."

"We’ve been to Y Celstryn training restaurant, Coleg Cambria, Deeside (Kelsterston College as was) many times for a great weekday meal and we’ve never been disappointed. Therefore when we were looking for a venue to host an afternoon tea on a Saturday afternoon for 70 people to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary I asked the restaurant if they would consider doing such an event. I’m glad to say they said yes and they’ve worked with me over the months to ‘fine tune’ our requirements. I cannot shout the restaurant’s praises loud enough. We had an amazing afternoon, every single detail was taken care of. The students were all so lovely to our guests (who ranged in age from 2- 100 yrs). They’d set up a really nice little area for children to play/colour. The tables were beautifully laid out and the food was just exceptional – so well presented, and tasted out of this world. We had a selection of sandwiches and rolls followed by afternoon tea pastries: Coronation chicken on sun-dried tomato and olive bread Smoked salmon with infused crème fraiche, watercress on malted brown bread Classic egg salad with mustard on white bread Cucumber, minted crème cheese on spinach bread Boned ham with whole grain mustard, apple chutney on carrot and coriander bread Freshly baked sultana and plain scones with clotted cream, home-made lemon curd and strawberry preserve Selection of pastries and cakes. Everyone we’ve spoken to since the party has commented on the ‘top notch’ food and what a lovely venue it is for a celebration. The restaurant is licensed and has a large car park (which is always full during the week) but we had the whole car park on Saturday afternoon. THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF AND STUDENTS INVOLVED IN OUR EVENT."

"Yesterday's masterpiece was griddled turbot with cepes, girolles and pureed potatoes. Absolutely fantastic, as another satisfied diner on their way out remarked as the head chef was grating a white truffle over my serving of the dish as a finishing touch. And all this for £3. The only way my meal could have been improved was if a similarly subsidised bottle of Chassagne Montrachet had been available to complement it. Today's offerings included roast grouse breast with wild duck and smoked buttered cabbage; griddled plaice with creamed leeks and prawns; pork escalope with tomato confit and Gruyere cheese; and lasagne with a herbed green salad. I could happily have eaten all of them (and some colleagues, looking at my waistline, may well believe that I did). But, craving top class comfort food, I confined myself to the lasagne. Which was great."

"Driving along the coast road today we came across this little hidden gem. Friendly warm welcome on entering, exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated. We didn’t have to wait long and our piping hot food was served. We have just eaten a lovely brunch, bacon, eggs, beans, chips and the amazingly best sausages I’ve ever eaten... even my two little boys enjoyed them and that’s rare. The sausages where unique and so tasty. The brunch didn’t have any fat or grease residue on the plate, it was cooked to perfection, if your passing by the coast road between mostyn and Prestatyn call in as it will be the best cooked breakfast/brunch you will ever eat. We will be calling again"

"After visiting Caergrie Castle, we stopped just beneath at a visually unimpressive sandwich cum light meals shop. The small general store next door put us on to it as a good option with their quality and taste rating, telling us not to be put off...given its decidedly old fashioned simplicity in appearance. The very personable lady owner told us she begins before opening by cooking fresh chicken, turkey, ham and pork every day. We accordingly each ordered a different large bap sandwich from her equally friendly young man assistant, splitting one Cherry Coke from the glass cold case. I almost never order such sweet carbonated drinks but admittedly it was enjoyable. My wife had a very tender and generously portioned turkey sandwich with lettuce , tomato and mayo. I chose the chicken tikka with onions, tomato, lettuce and mayo. Both were so fresh and surprisingly delicious. There were a couple of other options I would readily consider for an easy inexpensive lunch if returning to the area. At given the quality of ingredients, hospitality, and generosity of portions, the value was outstanding."

"We ordered food from this restaurant and were charged £39. Unfortunately, when we unpacked the food, my son's chips were missing. When we called to inform them about the missing item, we were accused of lying and told that we didn't order the chips in the first place. According to their menu prices, we were charged for something that we didn't receive. Be cautious when ordering for your family because if they make a mistake with your order, they will just call you a liar. We ordered 2 x chicken fried rice at £7.80 each, 2 x sweet and sour Chinese style dishes at £7.20 each, 1 x sausage at £1.90, 1 x BBQ sauce at £2.10, and delivery at £2.00 for being 2.7 miles away from the restaurant, which totals £36. I also ordered chips which should have brought the total to £39, but we did not receive them and were still charged £39. Additionally, the driver refused to give us a receipt and took it back with him, which makes us suspect that he may have taken and eaten my son's missing chips. I would like a refund for the overcharge, or I will report this to trading standards for overcharging and falsely accusing customers of lying."

"We decided to pop into the Daleside Garden Centre one weekday lunchtime, hoping to have a quick tasty lunch with the little one. Living close by, we try to support and make the most of our local pubs, restaurants etc. We have been for food quite a few times and on those occasions we have been happy. Unfortunately, this visit was not a great experience at all. I can only think that they were either having an off day, or there has been a change in kitchen staff since we last visited. I ordered a cheese and chutney sandwich which was served on two thin slices of white bloomer bread. The cheese was grated but I would say that they must have been running low on cheese as there was hardly any in there! This was served with roughly 4-5 crisps and a wet salad. The salad was so sloppy it put me off the food immediately. The chutney was served in a small jar but again, wasn 't very tasty and not enough to cover the sandwich. Safe to say, I didn 't eat any of this. Not good at all. So onto the beef baguette that my partner ordered. Well I felt sorry for her as there were so many things wrong with this. The beef was dry.... well actually that 's an understatement. I would say that it had been cooked and then cooked again. You could tell that there was no love going into this meal. The salad was again very poor, I think they need to look at how they are storing the salad items to be honest. I had a sense that the food was dirty, I could be wrong but from the appearance, this is what sprung to mind. I really hope they were having an off day as we like supporting local places and would really want this to be good. The food we ordered isn 't difficult to do well, so I 'm sure that with a little love and attention they can sort this out. Unfortunately, we won 't be back in a rush to go back."
