"Oh my goodness, the food here was D I V I N E, with views of the sea whilst we enjoyed our food and drink was also very special! Favourite starter was the ‘vegetable pakoda’ well seasoned, lovely fresh and crispy and served with a delicious dipping sauce. The main that stole the show was ‘Gurkha Chilli’ which we had with lamb. My word the lamb was so unbelievably tender and seasoned to absolute perfection. I think it may have been the single most delicious lamb dish I have ever tried in my life. Just melt in the mouth fabulous with a nice kick. Popadums were light crispy and a lovely garlic naan too! Congrats Gurkha Chef you have just taken my number one spot for St Leonards There was some drama with the staff but dinner and a show is how we saw it. Nothing was going to detract from the amazing work of the chefs!!!"

"Ordered a takeaway recently from Pizzarelli and I was not impressed. The Margherita had a nice flavour and plenty of cheese, but only had two cherry tomatoes and three basil leaves. The base was overcooked and it had a chewy crust. The padrino again had a nice flavour, but the pizza was ruined by the burnt black base that overided the taste of the toppings. Extremely disappointed, given the reviews and recommendations I'd received regarding this restaurant's food."

"We went for a stroll had thought about booking at Oscar 's. When we got there, we decided to continue with our booking, went inside, but it got a little confusing as we were stood on the steps, waiting. The girl that spoke to us was lovely, though, set our minds at rest. We chose to sit outside, which was great, except that the area around Warrior Square is very 'Bohemian ', especially in the lighter evenings, our evening was a little tainted by smells we weren 't wanting to smell. The burgers were great. One of us had meat, one had veggie, but they were both tasty. The chips were well cooked, the mac cheese was great too. We paid easily, everyone was chatty friendly. It 's just a shame we aren 't appreciative of extra curricular smoking."

"A pub that takes its name from its position at the top of the High Street of the Old Town section of Hastings in that it was the first pub you came to back in the day when you approached the settlement of Hastings from the north and therefore subsequently the last one before you left. A bit out of the was at the top of the old town high street, with its historic houses, quaint shops and very good pubs, of which the FILO is the best and possibly the best pub in Hastings. I certainly didn’t find a better one. Primarily a single room pub, although there is an additional function room seating area for dining off the corridor to the back, but most of the action takes place in the bar room, with its period décor, comfortable booths and interesting fireplace. I cannot comment on the food because I was here to try the FILO house brewery beers and in that respect all six ale pumps on the bar were in operation for our visit, with the ubiquitous for these parts Harvey’s Sussex Best on one and the FILO Brewery products on the other five. These were Crofters Best Bitter, Old Town Tom Craft Beer, Cardinal Sussex Porter, Gold Premium ale and Churches Pale Ale. We tried the Old Town Tom and The Cardinal Porter and they were both in good condition. As mentioned if there is a better traditional pub in Hastings I didn’t find it (although the Mermaid did run it close , or could not visit it (as the Jolly Fisherman doesn’t open on a Monday or Tuesday."

"Wife’s birthday. We both had ribeyes, side of mac cheese, “dollop of coleslaw” £1.50) and garlic butter no extra cost). There are no linen napkins, they only had Gordons Gin and someone had stubbed a fag out on the wall in the gents. However, I do not care and I will not reduce my rating, because of the following extenuating factors: 1. Dry aged steaks cut off the joint in house. 2. Actually charcoal grilled. The aroma of our plates on arrival was an experience in itself. 3. Steaks properly seasoned. 4. Home made chips. A lot of independent steakhouses are sad copycats of sadder americana chain places. This is neither. The menu is refreshingly succinct. Product is good and properly treated. I am sure that anything coming off that grill would be great. Wife’s comment was ‘tastes like holidays’, sadly because good steak, properly cooked and seasoned with home made chips and a simple salad is sadly hard to find in this country. ABK Hells lager in tankards was great too. Staff also lovely and welcoming. Long may you continue. Thank you."

"We arrived late without a table booking and got a table for two. The atmosphere in there is very relaxing and you don’t have another table close by with that claustrophobic feeling of being elbow to elbow with others up close. Nice mellow jazz playing in the background and attentive and friendly staff. We had burrata which is incredible with salmon fish cakes. Kedgeree which was excellent and lamb merguez sausages to follow. Delicious wheat beer and elderflower spritz to wash it down. After a tactical pause we had pudding of pear and ginger sticky toffee pudding and a green gage frangipane tart. We shared a glass of tokaji Hungarian sweet desert wine which was stunning. The portions sizes are great and so is the value for money! Highly recommended and we would love to come again. Thank you guys for the pleasant, mellow lovely night"

"that is a really nice restaurant in the old town in hastings. everything on the menu can be customized to be made with tofu or sweet and eating is absolutely delicious. they also seem quite glued over allergies (the last time we were asked if we had everything we could not eat). a cache to note, but the small bowl of cracker that put them on their table when they arrive not vegan but if they ask for vegan cracker instead they will deliver (the soße that they are with the crackers to die for) while I have never seen that someone bought a book there, the general ambiente of the ortes is cozy, with many small tables that are behind regal of books. a large small place I would definitely recommend."

"If your looking for first class home cooking ? Then you must come here . We have not been for 2 years plus but still the same great chef .Jay . Great taste ,well cooked and good portions served up by Chrisse. Pauline AKA The...Butterfly is still leading a first class , real team of people . Totally recommend the Cottage pie and the superb Bacon and Onion Rolly Polly . The refurbished Spitfire restaurant a delight also. Clean toilets and through out . Large car park and manicured garden to the rear. Cannot praise it all enough , you must go . Be sure to book as it is very popular . Do your homework first as it is on busy road and easy to pass. MANY THANKS"

"Dropped in here on the spur of the moment and the staff were friendly and very efficient. Coffees were excellent and served just as we requested. The only minor issue was that we ordered a fish finger sandwich. When it arrived, the fish fingers were battered and looked like they had been deep fried. Although they tasted fine, I think the fact that they were battered should have been included on the menu."

"Really lovely independent cafe with ingenious vegan dishes, and gluten free options. It took a while to arrive as Sunday brunchtime was extremely busy but I loved my vegan scramble which was a seedy, avocado mix much more interesting than tofu versions I have had elsewhere. I had to re brand myself as a flexitarian to enjoy the pancakes and glad I did! It's hard to see how the layout could be improved, but the tables for 2 aren't really big enough to get comfortable. Our dog was made welcome, but we had to move to a table for 3 for her to relax. I hope the cafe manages its popularity, as the food is good, but it probably needs to expand into a bigger space."

"The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! We started with the appetizers for two, followed by a shared yellow curry and jasmine rice. Everything was cooked perfectly, beautifully presented, and a real delight to eat. For dessert, we enjoyed her homemade ice creams (coconut and chocolate chip) which were absolutely fantastic! The service was also excellent and attentive, despite the busy crowd. I highly recommend this restaurant when you're in the area!"

"We have been coming to the rainbow restaurant for the last several years, it’s our go to whenever we visit Hastings and honestly I can’t recommend it enough The food and service cannot be faulted in our experience, there’s a great variety on the menu, it’s always fresh, generous in portion sizes and I eat a lot) well prepared and always tastes brilliant, in comparison to what most other places charge I can’t fault the value for money either. We’re always shocked at how quickly and efficiently the food comes out, there was 12 of us on our last visit a few weeks ago, lots of different orders, some with specific requirements, in these cases sometimes it’s understandable as we are human to make the odd mistake or two but again everything was perfect, and service just as quick and efficient as always! All the staff members are more than helpful and go above and beyond to make sure everything’s perfect, we often talk to the same staff members year after year and sometimes they even come out of the busy kitchen to say hello. Over the years one of the waitresses Sharna has especially been great, always really good to have a chat with about anything, always goes above and beyond and rushes of her feet to make sure everyone has what they need, she’s an asset to the rainbow, we will keep coming to the rainbow for years to come, have had lots of good food and made many great memories here and many more to come! If you want to go to a restaurant that serves great food at great prices with great service, and friendly staff, this is the place for you."

"We have been using the Kingfisher every time we visit Hastings so it has become a very nice ritual over the past years. The fish and chips is always excellent, the fish I believe locally sourced and the food is always top notch. The...Kingfisher is very popular so there is a wait of about or mins max before you are served. It is well worth the wait! The food is always perfectly cooked, and the service is always fantastic. There is a very varied menu to choose from, and all in all the restaurant's popularity with visitors and locals seems obvious and well deserved. Always a great experience. Recommend!"

"We had a great time at this pub. The service from the staff behind the bar was very friendly, and they had a great selection of well-kept ales and a tempting pie menu. The pub also had some unique features that you don't see every day. The Albion is located on the site of Whitby House, which was originally built in 1689 and licensed in 1730. It was demolished and rebuilt in 1831, reopening in 1832 as the Albion Hotel, a coaching inn on the fashionable Marine Parade. The pub has a connection to Scotland through its tie to Younger's Brewery of Edinburgh, which is reflected in the bagpipes behind the bar and the tartan designs in the dining room, known as the Scottish Bar. During our visit, we had to enter through the Marine bar from Marine Parade, which was practical as it led us straight to the ale pumps. We tried two ales from Three Acre Brewery, and they were both excellent. The pub also offers a variety of real ciders. The Marine bar may seem plain at first, but it has some charming period features. The dining room initially appears dark with its wood paneling and furniture, but it is a comfortable room to enjoy a beer and one of their delicious pies. There is also a stage area for live music on weekends. The pub's location on Marine Parade allows for outdoor seating on bench seats, which is a lovely spot when the sun is shining."

"Well… initially this was a positive visit… a lovely lady served me at the bar as I was waiting for a friend to join me. The food was tapas and I’m vegetarian and was initially pleased with the choice for me…sadly though the meal was spoiled because one of the dishes had to be left untouched. I ordered aubergine which is my absolute favourite … something I eat in restaurants all the time and also cook at home… it was tough as old boots meaning it wasn’t cooked enough and I left literally the whole thing in tact… this in itself wouldn’t have spoiled our visit… I politely told the staff why I had left it … I wasn’t rude at all… I went to pay and as the initial staff member had indicated that they would take this item off the bill … I was also going to purchase another round of drinks … but changed my mind when a very rude member of staff… who was too busy watching Sheffield play football on his phone to even look at me when I was having a conversation … grunted at me that 8 other people had ordered the aubergine and they hadn’t complained. Well maybe they hadn’t … maybe the chef had got bored by the time it came to undercooking my food? Who knows… but obviously when a dish is left uneaten and nearly completely untouched … with one bite out of it…that tells you it wasn’t right?… I cancelled my further drinks order … and left this rude bloke who obviously had little or no customer service training … watching his football… I wouldn’t recommend any tourists visiting for a meal when he is on duty… he obviously thinks that we’re only passing through on holiday so no need to be pleasant. Nil points to The Hastings Arms … I hope you enjoyed your football!!!"

"I had never tried high-end Caribbean cuisine before and Mama Putt's definitely impressed me. All the dishes were fresh and well-prepared, with the spinach standing out as particularly delicious. While vegetarian options for African Caribbean food can be limited, there were plenty to choose from here. The staff was very friendly, although we did go on a quiet night which may have contributed to the extra attentiveness. While the prices were on the higher side, the food was definitely worth it for a special treat. I would recommend visiting Mama Putt's for a tasty bite that's a bit out of the ordinary."

"Gem of a restaurant. I used the app for service, which was really easy to use, but you could just order from the counter as well. Service was friendly and the food was fresh, vibrant and tasty. Very reasonable prices for the quality of the food. Couldn't ask for much more really."

"This cafe is fantastic! The food and service are excellent, with beautiful and quirky decor details that make the experience worthwhile. The owners are friendly, the coffee and breakfasts are very tasty, and there are both familiar favorites and exciting menu additions. The portions are good and the prices are great, making it a delicious and satisfying meal. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, with an interesting steam punk vibe in the decor. We were delighted to learn that the owners have made many of the items on the walls themselves, showing their cleverness and creativity. We can't wait to visit again - this cafe is definitely worth the trip!"
