"Been a good few times with family and/or friends over the years and it's been a bit hit and miss, though from my point of view mostly hits. Recently went with others and experienced Graze's new chef; well what a difference! Superb food all round including a couple of starters and one desert. The wine (I've yet to be disappointed) was very well received by the group, sadly it was the last bottle so couldn't have a the recommended alternative was pretty decent. Always appreciated the wine prices here, they never take the micky as do many restaurants. We will be back."

"Very happy to have stumbled across this little gem today. We were desperate for some indoor seating to get the kids out of the heat and take a break with a nice drink. The layout was well designed and inviting, there was hand sanitizer readily available as we walked in and at our table. The staff member was very polite and welcoming. We didn't purchase any food, however, the display of cakes and pastries was incredibly tempting! There was a menu of cooked items to order, I would describe the prices as moderate but couldn't comment on value for quality/quantity as we didn't see anyone else order food. We were served quickly, I ordered a latte, not too hot, which was served at a perfect temperature. My only critique would be that the kids drink options were limited, maybe they're not the targeted audience for this cafe. But kids will never finish a drink, so paying £2.50 for an Orange Juice isn't the greatest option. That being said, there was good availability of drinks for adults. I was able to pay via debit card, contactless which was very useful. Overall, we were really happy with the experience and will definitely return on future visits to the old town."

"First time visit, and a great pleasure it has been the food was fresh, home cooked and very tasty. I had a Steak and Stilton Pie and it has to be perhaps one of the best pies (slice of) that I 've ever had. Other meals were all well received, with fresh veg dishes on the table centres to help yourself. We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime and were surprised how busy it was, so booking highly advised as we saw at least one 'walk in ' turned away due to tables all booked."

"This is a really lovely restaurant in the Old Town in Hastings. Anything on the menu can be adapted to be made with tofu or vegetables and the food is absolutely delicious. They also seem fairly clued up about allergies (we were specifically asked last time we went whether we had anything we couldn't eat). One thing to note however the little bowl of crackers they put on your table when you arrive are not vegan however if you ask for vegan crackers instead they will provide them (the sauce they serve the crackers with is to die for) While I have never seen anyone buying a book in there, the general ambiance of the place is cosy, with lots of little tables hidden behind shelves of books. Overall a great little place which I would definitely recommend."

"My mother passed away last month, so we held her wake at the Harrow Inn on Friday, 12th July. I was anxious because most of our family from London would be attending, and I wanted it to be a special farewell for my mother. However, my worries were unfounded as they warmly welcomed us, providing a private room with outdoor space and having everything set up upon our arrival. The tea and coffee machine and the food they prepared were excellent. I am incredibly grateful for the kindness shown to myself and my family on one of the saddest days of our lives."

"We visited for lunch today and were almost put off by the prices! for courses. We thought it couldn't possibly be any good, but the menu looked interesting so we thought we'd give it a go (we didn't want fish and chips, and...didn't want a pub burger type meal). We were delighted with our choices!! Monkfish scampi, and roast pork belly on pearl barley amongst the highlights. Really couldn't fault any of our food. Well cooked, tasty and plentiful. And all served with a smile from a lovely young man who was helpful and polite. An absolute gem of a find."

"Excellent food, helpful and very friendly staff. Excellent for people with mobility problems, and young families. We were in both categories. Nothing was too much trouble for mum and her walker. Also a lot of lovely fuss made over my daughters new born baby. Food was very tasty and varied menu. Special plate done for my daughter as baby was allergic to diary. Would highly recommend a visit if in Hastings."

"Really lovely independent cafe with ingenious vegan dishes, and gluten free options. It took a while to arrive as Sunday brunchtime was extremely busy but I loved my vegan scramble which was a seedy, avocado mix much more interesting than tofu versions I have had elsewhere. I had to re brand myself as a flexitarian to enjoy the pancakes and glad I did! It's hard to see how the layout could be improved, but the tables for 2 aren't really big enough to get comfortable. Our dog was made welcome, but we had to move to a table for 3 for her to relax. I hope the cafe manages its popularity, as the food is good, but it probably needs to expand into a bigger space."

"I recently visited Bean Caught Stealin and it was the best bean burger I have ever tasted! The brownie and ice cream were also delicious. The menu offers 3 veggie vegan options, 2 of which can be made fully vegan. The staff are very responsive and the options are clearly marked on the menu. It can get busy at times but it's definitely worth the wait. They also offer takeaway options. This restaurant is perfect for when you're dining with non-vegan/vegetarian friends and still want a great meal. It can be hard to find options like this outside of London and Brighton. Overall, I would highly recommend this place."

"The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! We started with the appetizers for two, followed by a shared yellow curry and jasmine rice. Everything was cooked perfectly, beautifully presented, and a real delight to eat. For dessert, we enjoyed her homemade ice creams (coconut and chocolate chip) which were absolutely fantastic! The service was also excellent and attentive, despite the busy crowd. I highly recommend this restaurant when you're in the area!"

"We have been coming to the rainbow restaurant for the last several years, it’s our go to whenever we visit Hastings and honestly I can’t recommend it enough The food and service cannot be faulted in our experience, there’s a great variety on the menu, it’s always fresh, generous in portion sizes and I eat a lot) well prepared and always tastes brilliant, in comparison to what most other places charge I can’t fault the value for money either. We’re always shocked at how quickly and efficiently the food comes out, there was 12 of us on our last visit a few weeks ago, lots of different orders, some with specific requirements, in these cases sometimes it’s understandable as we are human to make the odd mistake or two but again everything was perfect, and service just as quick and efficient as always! All the staff members are more than helpful and go above and beyond to make sure everything’s perfect, we often talk to the same staff members year after year and sometimes they even come out of the busy kitchen to say hello. Over the years one of the waitresses Sharna has especially been great, always really good to have a chat with about anything, always goes above and beyond and rushes of her feet to make sure everyone has what they need, she’s an asset to the rainbow, we will keep coming to the rainbow for years to come, have had lots of good food and made many great memories here and many more to come! If you want to go to a restaurant that serves great food at great prices with great service, and friendly staff, this is the place for you."
"I stopped off here the other day with my eldest daughter for a coffee. The atmosphere upstairs was great, the waitress was well mannered and happy. However, in the shop downstairs the woman in charge was watching everyone as if they were potential shop lifters! She was rude to shoppers, stalking them so closely that many people left because she was THAT CLOSE to them. Shopping or browsing downstairs is an awful experience. Memo to the owner; Get new staff who do not intimidate customers or stalk their every move. The displays are scary looking, I myself had to be careful of my every move in case I knocked something off the edge of the displays. But honestly, please have a word with your rude staff, she's very off putting and if it weren't for her I would SHOP IN YOUR STORE WEEKLY. I present I shop there once a year due to that woman! Whoever that woman is, she's losing your store business."

"At first we were impressed by the low prices compared to other places on King 's Road. The ambience is nice and the cakes look tasty! We ordered a cheese onion toastie and a hummus, Halloumi and carrot wrap to take away. We were told the wait would be 10 minutes as there were a couple of orders before ours. 30 minutes later and our food had still not materialised! I understand that it was busy, but the two members of staff behind the counter didn 't seem to have a rush bone in their bodies. The girl making the sandwiches even stopped to have a chat with some customers while everybody was waiting for their food. My biggest gripe however, was when I took a bite into my wrap and realised that they 'd put grilled vegetables instead of carrot (I 'd overheard earlier that they 'ran out of carrot ' but they didn 't consult me about it). I am allergic to aubergine, which is in the grilled vegetables. Granted I didn 't disclose that when I gave the order, but only because I 'd intentionally chosen a wrap that didn 't contain grilled vegetables. I don 't know whether it was an honest mistake, or whether they substituted the carrots without consulting me. If I hadn 't been in my car driving away I would have gone back and found out. In the end the whole thing went in the bin. All in all I think this business needs to take a look at its food practices. I also saw staff touching their hair and then food without washing their hands. I work in catering and this is a big no no."

"had a good ploughmans lunch here near the month. had found a seat in the interior surprisingly easy, but then the sunshine was probably trying to eat most people in the free. the A-Board outside advertised the selection of the pisses of the pubs and it was a bit a bit a bit of a trick to decide whether one of them (a series of fillings looked appetit) or something else. a return the next day for a torte was pawed, but not at the end. had a few well served pints from real ale to so overall a very pleasant experience."

"Well… initially this was a positive visit… a lovely lady served me at the bar as I was waiting for a friend to join me. The food was tapas and I’m vegetarian and was initially pleased with the choice for me…sadly though the meal was spoiled because one of the dishes had to be left untouched. I ordered aubergine which is my absolute favourite … something I eat in restaurants all the time and also cook at home… it was tough as old boots meaning it wasn’t cooked enough and I left literally the whole thing in tact… this in itself wouldn’t have spoiled our visit… I politely told the staff why I had left it … I wasn’t rude at all… I went to pay and as the initial staff member had indicated that they would take this item off the bill … I was also going to purchase another round of drinks … but changed my mind when a very rude member of staff… who was too busy watching Sheffield play football on his phone to even look at me when I was having a conversation … grunted at me that 8 other people had ordered the aubergine and they hadn’t complained. Well maybe they hadn’t … maybe the chef had got bored by the time it came to undercooking my food? Who knows… but obviously when a dish is left uneaten and nearly completely untouched … with one bite out of it…that tells you it wasn’t right?… I cancelled my further drinks order … and left this rude bloke who obviously had little or no customer service training … watching his football… I wouldn’t recommend any tourists visiting for a meal when he is on duty… he obviously thinks that we’re only passing through on holiday so no need to be pleasant. Nil points to The Hastings Arms … I hope you enjoyed your football!!!"

"Took my Sister Nephew here early this week. Was greeted with all smiles, menu was explained as I’m vegetarian and Sis isn’t great on Spicy/Hot. Really chilled n relaxing, decor and art is beautiful “love the gloss black ceiling is cool, very deceiving, has a real warm and hospitable mood to the place. Food was great, authentic Afro-Caribbean and so tasty and flavoursome, I like it so much I ordered more. This is an atmospheric, welcoming and very chilled place to eat. Love, Love, Love. 100 per cent recommend, cheers Mamma Putts"

"We booked a table over a month ago for Christmas Eve. We were reassured over the phone that we would be on the ground floor. When we arrived (after queuing at the bar for ages) we were directed to a table upstairs that was obviously put in as an afterthought, right on the corner so we were constantly pushed by people going past. It was not reserved, or set up. We could only assume that our table had been given away. We left after one very expensive round of drinks. I have been to Porters many times over the last 20 years and after today will not be returning. It seems the restaurant is going downhill. One of our party said that they’d been let down recently by them and will not be returning either. A shame as it used to be a lovely place to go for a relaxed meal."

"This is a favourite new find quite literally at the end of my street. A small pub that looks good, serves fabulous pizza and too many tempting beers to namecheck in a short post. With understated good service too, what's not to like!. Check it out."
