"Don’t bother if you have any dietary restrictions. There were five of us looking for brunch, walked in to an almost empty cafe, to ask about whether they offer gluten free options. As soon as I said the word gluten there was an immediate shake of the head and a “no”. Totally uninterested in accommodating dietary needs and clearly didn’t want our business. There are many regular breakfast items that are GF, (bacon, hash browns, eggs etc), but presumably they just couldn’t be bothered with any hassle. If you’re looking for somewhere that will cater, go to the Grumpy Cook just round the corner. Giving two stars as seems unfair to give one when we didn’t actually eat in there."

"After reading the good reviews I decided to give this place a try. Turned up without a reservation and was asked to wait while they prepare a table. After 5 minutes I asked for a pint of Cobra and was immediately served with a nice cold beer which certainly helped pass the time. About 10 minutes later I was given a table and promptly ordered poppadoms and a main course. I think they forgot about me as it was pretty busy. After 20 minutes the poppadoms, rice (jeera rice) and the main course(kolhapuri chicken) arrived. It was certainly worth the wait as the rice and main course was absolutely delicious. As another review said, the service is a bit like faulty towers, the staff are great and the girl behind the bar was dedicated to keeping everyone happy. I've been to many Indian restaurants over the years and I recommend you try this one. It's much quieter after 8:30pm where you might find a quicker service."

"Needs better ketchup! That and curry sauce are the two condiments essential to a good supper. Good choice of food. See menu The staff were nice although seems they were a bit bored and grumpy , served quickly and food arrived within 10 minutes. Fish was very good. Batter crispy and light. Bottom of fish a little soggy but was ok. The sausages are really bad quality. Looked like a Richmond sausge pale and tasted horrible. Again the batter was great just couldnt eat it. It's either two small battered pale nasty ones or a large which I havnt tried. Chips were nice but they could be better. Choice of cold drinks over £2 a can. Coffee is decent. Food is a reasonable price. Small space but we were very happy sitting inside. If it was busier I think it would be uncomfortable eith the main seating area having chairs back to back so close. I realise making the best of the space. They do usualy have outside seating. In a great spot by sea front opposite family entertainment. We have been here before and it was much better so I'm not sure what's changed. Shame but I'd return for the fish and id try the larger herby sausage."

"Me, my father and my 15 year old daughter sat down on the terrace outside for a drink. My daughter and I walked in to order, but it turned out we were sitting on the terrace of the pub opposite, so we had to be across the street. This was very unclear because there was no entrance on that side. The entrance was on the side, accessible via a staircase that was not clearly visible from the terrace. We politely apologized and ordered from the correct pub. My daughter wanted to see the menu at The Anchor Inn, so she walked in again and asked to take a look at the menu. The man and woman behind the bar looked at her very angrily and said: Not here! That pub!! and showed her the door. How rude! She wanted to see what they had on the menu and come back to eat later in the day. Sadly Anchor Inn, we will never return here!"

"Yesterday evening, as a treat for my husband and daughter who are recovering from Covid, I ordered online a meal from Pizza Express, Hastings. The meal, that comprised starters, mains, sides and dessert, cost £92.78. I received email confirmation of my order and a text message from Uber Direct as to when delivery to our home would be expected. At the expected time, I waited at my front door to collect the delivery. Then the text notification indicated a later time for delivery so I returned to my front door at that time. The driver did not arrive. Then I received a text from Uber indicating that the order had been cancelled, no reason given for this so called cancellation! Certainly, we had not cancelled our order. My husband drove down to Pizza Express, Hastings and spoke to the manager. The chef remembered the order as it was large, he said. The manager mentioned that she also had received from Uber the cancellation text message. She refused to refund our account for an order that we had not received. As it stands this morning our bank account has still not been credited with the cost of the order we did not receive and it looks like the Uber driver must have taken our order home for her own consumption, which would amount to theft! Of course, we are pursuing this with Pizza Express and their delivery agent, Uber, however, it is clear to us that after such a thoroughly disappointing experience we will never again visit Pizza Express for a meal nor order from them online; we have been customers of Pizza Express for decades and it was a favourite go to especially when we needed this, as when recovering from Covid! Our advice to readers of this review, do not trust the online order facility of Pizza Express especially as its Uber agents are disreputable."

"I went to this restaurant to grab some chips for my partner and myself before catching the train. I had heard good things about this place and wanted to give it a try. I placed my order and was told it would be a few minutes, but it ended up taking closer to 15 or 20 minutes. I was fine with this as I knew they were cooking it fresh. I stood by the wall to stay out of the way, as there was nobody else in the shop. However, I was told to take a seat. I politely declined and said I preferred to stand. The staff then threatened to give me a refund if I didn't sit down. When I asked why I needed to sit, they couldn't provide a reason and attempted to give me my money back. I refused and eventually received my food, which was okay but not the best I've had. The customer service was terrible, and based on this experience, I would not return to this restaurant."

"Our visit to Goat Ledge on Boxing Day was greatly impacted by the weather, for better and for worse. We found ourselves waiting in a long line to order drinks, while there was another line for hot food that we decided to forgo. Despite the crowds, the service was polite and friendly, although the wait times were a bit slow. The live music added to the lively atmosphere of the place. The restaurant's covered huts and booths, available to rent, added to the charm of the place. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable experience."

"they have the feeling that they have time and time that they earn their time and money when they are bathing service that they can do this. the first time today and omg the waitress was so racist and also she is so rude. what do they recommend? she likes that I don't know. All I asked her doesn't know her. she even brings me the dry **** tails and no sharp ones. I asked her why it's so dry that she looked at me like she's killing me with eyes. what's going on? this place looks good from outside, but inside? nearhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I don't think there's any manager or supervisor they can complain about. the same eat they find in other Chinese or Asian shops for cheaper. also I have eaten Nepalese food for age groups, but in this restaurant you will not find a taste of Nepalese cuisine and everything you can find is a normal Indian or Chinese mix as they eat in an Indian restaurant. they have an indian restaurant where they can freeze and food plus yummy not like this saturation. the idner of this restaurant needs to destroy someone who is beneficial and more careful. not a racist and unprofessional corporate law."

"Popped into grab a coffee with a friend to takeaway. The lady behind the counter was ok with the dogs being in as we were only grabbing a coffee to go. Chef came out of the kitchen and was incredibly brusque and rude to me as the dogs were in despite being given permission to be there. Can't rate their coffee as didn't end up having any. Chefs attitude towards paying customers was appalling. Shame as it looked nice in there and rhe other staff were good"

"I've been in hastings for some time and remember when two bullen opened but never had a chance to dinner. we went for a Christmas menu and we are not disappointed. a good choice of different steaks were present, but there are other dings, they should choose not to want a steak. this place is exactly that, a steakhouse. the table was well presented and eating quickly arrived. the personal was friendly and chatting and courteous. the steak was cooked exactly as it was requested and arriving hot. the meat was tender and the supplements were also beautiful. I had not the chance to try something else or a normal dinner / lunch service, but it is all like this menu then they are on a winner."
"Very happy to have stumbled across this little gem today. We were desperate for some indoor seating to get the kids out of the heat and take a break with a nice drink. The layout was well designed and inviting, there was hand sanitizer readily available as we walked in and at our table. The staff member was very polite and welcoming. We didn't purchase any food, however, the display of cakes and pastries was incredibly tempting! There was a menu of cooked items to order, I would describe the prices as moderate but couldn't comment on value for quality/quantity as we didn't see anyone else order food. We were served quickly, I ordered a latte, not too hot, which was served at a perfect temperature. My only critique would be that the kids drink options were limited, maybe they're not the targeted audience for this cafe. But kids will never finish a drink, so paying £2.50 for an Orange Juice isn't the greatest option. That being said, there was good availability of drinks for adults. I was able to pay via debit card, contactless which was very useful. Overall, we were really happy with the experience and will definitely return on future visits to the old town."

"Well… initially this was a positive visit… a lovely lady served me at the bar as I was waiting for a friend to join me. The food was tapas and I’m vegetarian and was initially pleased with the choice for me…sadly though the meal was spoiled because one of the dishes had to be left untouched. I ordered aubergine which is my absolute favourite … something I eat in restaurants all the time and also cook at home… it was tough as old boots meaning it wasn’t cooked enough and I left literally the whole thing in tact… this in itself wouldn’t have spoiled our visit… I politely told the staff why I had left it … I wasn’t rude at all… I went to pay and as the initial staff member had indicated that they would take this item off the bill … I was also going to purchase another round of drinks … but changed my mind when a very rude member of staff… who was too busy watching Sheffield play football on his phone to even look at me when I was having a conversation … grunted at me that 8 other people had ordered the aubergine and they hadn’t complained. Well maybe they hadn’t … maybe the chef had got bored by the time it came to undercooking my food? Who knows… but obviously when a dish is left uneaten and nearly completely untouched … with one bite out of it…that tells you it wasn’t right?… I cancelled my further drinks order … and left this rude bloke who obviously had little or no customer service training … watching his football… I wouldn’t recommend any tourists visiting for a meal when he is on duty… he obviously thinks that we’re only passing through on holiday so no need to be pleasant. Nil points to The Hastings Arms … I hope you enjoyed your football!!!"

"My mother passed away last month, so we held her wake at the Harrow Inn on Friday, 12th July. I was anxious because most of our family from London would be attending, and I wanted it to be a special farewell for my mother. However, my worries were unfounded as they warmly welcomed us, providing a private room with outdoor space and having everything set up upon our arrival. The tea and coffee machine and the food they prepared were excellent. I am incredibly grateful for the kindness shown to myself and my family on one of the saddest days of our lives."

"The cafe has moved to the new building at The Stade near the Jerwood Gallery and the fishing huts on the seafront, from Claremont. Vegan options such as vegan cheese panini, beanburgers, vegan cheese or mushroom pate sandwiches baguettes jackets are still available but I do think there is more emphasis on fish and tourist food since the move. I guess this is unavoidable in the location. It is still VERY child-friendly, with toys and stuff provided, child seats, and child portions of most dishes available. Nothing has been done to deal with acoustics so it can be a bit irritating to eat-in unless you are also blessed with a brat. In the Summer there are tables and chairs outside. There are more staff now and not all seem to understand vegan-ism, so last time I ordered vegan cheese panini they served it with coleslaw which isn 't vegan. That kind of mistake never used to happen. They also stopped making vegan pizzas, which was one of the finest things they used to do. For vegans this place has really gone downhill! Updated from previous review on Saturday September 06, 2008"

"We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were all fine and well presented although the evening menu was a bit limited with no specials . We had dinner there for both nights. Breakfast was very good and the price for a cooked breakfast included toast, tea/coffee. Hotel guests get a 20% discount on breakfast prices if they add it to their room. We opted for a sea view room which was on the 3rd floor unfortunately, the windows were not that large. The room was of reasonable size with a nice bathroom. The hotel has a nice veranda at the front with outside tables/chairs looking across the road to the sea and pier. The hotel does suffer some noise from the main road outside. It is not far from the centre of Hastings. Overall we were very pleased with our stay at the White Rock Hotel and it was excellent value for what we paid. Certainly, would definitely go back there again on our next visit to Hastings"

"A nice, airy cafe, with both indoors outside seating, set in the lovely Alexandra Park. Eat The Park has a good range of snacks meals, with an emphasis on catering for various dietary needs. Veggie vegan items are marked on the menu (see their website) staff assure us, cooked separately. Options include a tasty Vegan Breakfast for a fiver (vegan sausage, bacon', fried mushrooms, hash browns, baked beans, tomatoes chunky toast with vegan marge); choose-your-own combis from any of these items plus chunky chips; jacket potatoes; houmous olive platter; vegan sausage or bacon' baguette or sandwich; houmous salad children's portions (smaller versions of items as already mentioned, plus crudites houmous). In addition to vegan marge, there is Marmite, peanut butter, jam marmalade to spread on your toast. Sadly no vegan cakes yet, though some of the children's organic snacks are vegan."

"jessica has every Thursday the stall next to the pelican diner. it offers freshly prepared balls and packs, brown or white brot, as well as salads, nuts, homemade sweet tasty and smoothies. there is a selection of four fillings for the packs / balls, including spicy flower cabbage with mint cashew spread, avocado and sun-dried tomatoes, roasted vegetables with hummus and Mediterranean vegetables. all with fresh salad. sweets vary every week, but could be chocolate folding jacket, banana and rosin rock cake, or brownies. everything is vegan. I go every Thursday as my weekly lunch break. Eco-friendly packaging is used, so this is a great place to eat lunch on the beach or on the east hill. the balls are really tasting and filling the spicy flower cabbage is particularly good and really good worth on £ 4.50 a warm and inviting place."

"Never ever again so disappointed my friends has traveled up from Wales for dinner with us I had booked a specific table 10 days before and when we arrived was told that they'd had a booking for 11 so we'd have to sit on a table that was barely big enough for 4 small children to eat at,but then the table behind us left so waitress said so you want this one,wow thanks!!! so we moved because it did at least have room for four people however everytime the door opened my friend was pushed as people came in very very disappointed as booked early and was promised table then shelved because they had a better offer, very disappointed will never ever visit again food very mediocre and service not much better"

"The staff at this cafe are friendly, the atmosphere is clean, and the ice cream is delicious. It's a great spot to stop for a refreshing treat, especially on a hot summer day. We stopped by in the late afternoon after a walk along the promenade. Emily, our server, was upbeat and friendly, and we enjoyed our ice cream while watching people play crazy golf outside the cafe window. The venue is welcoming and child-friendly, and they offer a wide variety of ice cream flavors. We highly recommend trying the Turkish delight flavor. The prices for all refreshments are very reasonable. Overall, a great experience."
