"I messaged Owl Pussycat and asked in regards to their room upstairs for private hire for a baby shower. They allow to bring your own food and if requested open the bar so your guests can order their drinks of their choice! We put a tab behind the bar. The lady came up and took orders, brung our drinks up to us and also the smoking area is great as don’t have to walk up and down them stairs all the time for the smokers! They have a flower wall for pictures and the mirrored effect for more picture opportunities. From the minute I messaged about the booking they were friendly, helpful and efficient. I would recommend them over and over again for baby shower, birthday hire whatever it may be. Nothing was too much trouble. I had the guests comment on how homely and nice it all looked even the overall appearance of upstairs. Makes such a huge difference when your guests make a comment too! Thank you again, really appreciate it!"

"We went for my son’s birthday on a Monday at 7 pm. I had called to book a table but it was very quiet in there (it was Monday! So plenty of seats to choose from. I asked the staff to put candles in my sons pudding and if everything was on the menu and they said it was and they would. It was service with a smile and everyone was so friendly. Music playing, but not too loud that you couldn’t hear self talk, the staff weren’t constantly at your table asking if everything was okay (just leave me alone and let me eat! , And it was very clean. My son had the best time, the staff even sang happy birthday when they bought the pudding with candles out. A much better experience than the previous time we went (There was a shortage on the menu for some reason, but that was sometime ago! . Very enjoyable food, very reasonably priced and we even found out they also deliver (this could get very expensive! . Thank you for an awesome experience for my son and our family. Visit date 18th of March 2024."

"the pepper sea is a vast expanse of water located in Western asia, mainly fed by volga, the closure of an ancient ocean sea, the ocean or the paratethys sea. Although it is, from a strictly legal point of view, it is commonly called the largest closed sea in the world. It is bordered to the north and east by the steppes of the central asia, to the west and to the south by chains of the orogenesis of Himalayo-alpine: respectively caucase and elbourz. the riparian countries are (in the direction of the needles of a watch:) Kazakhstan to the northeast, the Turkmenist to the southeast, the iran to the south, the Azerbaidjan to the south-west, and the russia to the north-west (with the daghestan, the kalmoukie and the astrakhan oblast). its level varies over the years, but until it decreases rapidly cm/year on average, or m in years) mainly due to increased evaporation by global warming, and this trend should be"

"Popped into grab a coffee with a friend to takeaway. The lady behind the counter was ok with the dogs being in as we were only grabbing a coffee to go. Chef came out of the kitchen and was incredibly brusque and rude to me as the dogs were in despite being given permission to be there. Can't rate their coffee as didn't end up having any. Chefs attitude towards paying customers was appalling. Shame as it looked nice in there and rhe other staff were good"

"My mother passed away last month, so we held her wake at the Harrow Inn on Friday, 12th July. I was anxious because most of our family from London would be attending, and I wanted it to be a special farewell for my mother. However, my worries were unfounded as they warmly welcomed us, providing a private room with outdoor space and having everything set up upon our arrival. The tea and coffee machine and the food they prepared were excellent. I am incredibly grateful for the kindness shown to myself and my family on one of the saddest days of our lives."

"jessica has every Thursday the stall next to the pelican diner. it offers freshly prepared balls and packs, brown or white brot, as well as salads, nuts, homemade sweet tasty and smoothies. there is a selection of four fillings for the packs / balls, including spicy flower cabbage with mint cashew spread, avocado and sun-dried tomatoes, roasted vegetables with hummus and Mediterranean vegetables. all with fresh salad. sweets vary every week, but could be chocolate folding jacket, banana and rosin rock cake, or brownies. everything is vegan. I go every Thursday as my weekly lunch break. "This is an incomparable, little gem of a restaurant . Top quality, interesting and imaginative dishes all created by a very talented chef using locally sourced produce makes it difficult to decide what you would like! Memorable experience for someone who is coeliac too. Good sized portions and amazing choice excellent value for money. Don’t forget to try the Appasiomento wine a true find. Front of house service is relaxed, faultless and friendly making the overall experience excellent. We always pre book to avoid disappointment."

"Never ever again so disappointed my friends has traveled up from Wales for dinner with us I had booked a specific table 10 days before and when we arrived was told that they'd had a booking for 11 so we'd have to sit on a table that was barely big enough for 4 small children to eat at,but then the table behind us left so waitress said so you want this one,wow thanks!!! so we moved because it did at least have room for four people however everytime the door opened my friend was pushed as people came in very very disappointed as booked early and was promised table then shelved because they had a better offer, very disappointed will never ever visit again food very mediocre and service not much better"

"After all of the good reviews I thought we were in for a tasty dinner but the whole meal was awful. The general feel was that everything was really cheap in quality. I had a glass of Rose which tasted awful, the batter wasn’t cooked enough on the cod, chips were dry and over cooked and the fish in the kids fish fingers were grey/brown, yuk! I asked for a piece of fish to replace the fish fingers and I was brought more fish fingers, just as grey. I couldn’t let my kids eat them. Very disappointing. I went to discuss the bill and my disappointment and the waitress said something like ‘you complained about everything, have a free meal and don’t come back!’ I said I’m more than happy to pay for some of the meal but not for the bits that we’re awful and she picked up the order, scrunched it up and threw it on the floor! I wished her luck if this is how she treated customers and left feeling very sad that we had been treated as such and also sad for the owners of the restaurant if they treat customers in such a way. I have never not paid for a meal at all and felt very weird and sickened by her attitude and the way she treated us. If this is how the seagull operates I wouldn’t want anyone to go through the same experience. Do not eat here! I wish i took photos to show how bad it was. It has really dampened our holiday."

"We booked ahead of arriving, with space for a highchair this was provided and the table was ready however we co located next to a family that also had children (very naughty loud children) the tables had been rearranged to accommodate the family, making the walkway to the gents very tight! We were given a table directly behind the coffee machine and were plagued by flies continuously flying around our heads. It was at this point, if my daughter was so intent on eating here, we would have left. When the food came, the bead with the oil and vinegar was toasted!? how are you supposed to soak up oil with toasted bread? The mains were average, portion size was good. As others have mentioned the Tiramisu was excellent, and put a nice finish on an otherwise average evening."

"I visited the bakery in December to buy some bread. I am new to the area and had no idea what the shop offers. I ordered a sourdough, paid and asked for it to be sliced. Before the sales assistant went off to slice it I asked him is there anywhere close by that I can buy some ham and salad. He replied there is nowhere in the old town and my nearest supermarket would be Morrisons. When he went to the back to slice the bread I decided to take a look around the store to check what else you sold. I was surprised to then find that you had a large selection of cold meats and salad. I took them to the till for purchase to the same assistant and asked him why he didn’t tell me that you had the items that I had enquired about. His reply; it’s quite expensive here and I don’t like to push products! A. What kind of people do you have working in your store? Someone that refused to let me know that you do indeed sell the food I was looking for. B. How can a shop assistant assume what my budget is for food and what I consider to be expensive or not!!!! No apology, no thank you and goodbye. Outrageous behaviour and what a shame this is what happened on my first visit! What is this discrimination or an assistant telling me where I should shop?? Completely unacceptable I have contacted judges baker via emails 3 times regarding this matter and they have so far not replied. So as they clearly do not care, I’ve decided to leave a public review"

"What can I say? My partner and I were craving crabs, so we decided to escape London for an afternoon by the sea in search of a restaurant where we could enjoy the fresh air. We stumbled upon this charming, unpretentious gem, and while my partner indulged in some delicious fish and chips, I started with crab and followed it up with dressed crab as another starter. Our meal was served by a very friendly gentleman who informed us that they plan to have a crab hard drive (which I absolutely love) soon. Will we return? Absolutely! In fact, we could easily stay the weekend since they also have rooms upstairs and are perfectly located across from the sea in the old town. The cherry on top was the bill—very reasonable! What’s not to love?"

"This tearoom serves freshly prepared food and delicious cakes. We ordered a range of light lunches; the ploughman's came with a very generous selection of 3 cheeses, but the crumb ends of a packet of crisps which was disappointing, the egg mayo baguette was perfectly adequate, the toasted tomato and mozzarella panini was good, but the mushroom quiche was mostly egg with just a few mushrooms sprinkled over the top. It was disappointing to see sauce sachets, and of a dubious brand.. Partly because of the awful single use plastics, partly because it's so often a bad sign when cafés don't feel it's worth providing a quality ketchup and mayo. We then ordered some cakes, and these were all good without exception! 4 stars for freshness and nearly very good, but for me would need to get rid of sauce sachets, ends of crisp packets, and take a little more care in sourcing tomatoes and salad ingredients with actual flavour to get top marks!"

"I never write reviews but this food was incredible! We went there on a Thursday late lunchtime and it was delicious. Both my mum and I are big foodies and hard to please but we couldn’t fault it. The flavours were you could tell it was made by someone passionate about food. Plus It was also incredibly reasonable (as all dishes we got were on the lunch specials, so it was £7 a dish! Definitely going again..My only criticism would be it’s not super child friendly (no children’s menu/high chair but luckily my toddler was occupied by all the interesting art work and enjoyed the fish"

"We had lunch at the new restaurant in Battle and were thoroughly impressed. The ambiance is fantastic, and the presentation of the food was exquisite. The garnishes and mussels were of top-notch quality. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The desserts were a highlight as well; the cheesecake was simply amazing, tasting fresh and bursting with flavor, unlike the often synthetic, frozen varieties. Overall, we finally have a much-needed gem of a restaurant in Battle!"

"Yesterday evening, as a treat for my husband and daughter who are recovering from Covid, I ordered online a meal from Pizza Express, Hastings. The meal, that comprised starters, mains, sides and dessert, cost £92.78. I received email confirmation of my order and a text message from Uber Direct as to when delivery to our home would be expected. At the expected time, I waited at my front door to collect the delivery. Then the text notification indicated a later time for delivery so I returned to my front door at that time. The driver did not arrive. Then I received a text from Uber indicating that the order had been cancelled, no reason given for this so called cancellation! Certainly, we had not cancelled our order. My husband drove down to Pizza Express, Hastings and spoke to the manager. The chef remembered the order as it was large, he said. The manager mentioned that she also had received from Uber the cancellation text message. She refused to refund our account for an order that we had not received. As it stands this morning our bank account has still not been credited with the cost of the order we did not receive and it looks like the Uber driver must have taken our order home for her own consumption, which would amount to theft! Of course, we are pursuing this with Pizza Express and their delivery agent, Uber, however, it is clear to us that after such a thoroughly disappointing experience we will never again visit Pizza Express for a meal nor order from them online; we have been customers of Pizza Express for decades and it was a favourite go to especially when we needed this, as when recovering from Covid! Our advice to readers of this review, do not trust the online order facility of Pizza Express especially as its Uber agents are disreputable."

"my wife and I have recently become vegan (8Monates) for baby allergies. we came here last year and wanted to return so that we are very happy to see some vegan options on the menu. the vegan burger was very delicious, the sweet potato with sweet chili was also beautiful. our older children still eat meat when they choose, the child menu had good variations and the chickenburger was the right hugging on a beautiful bungalow with chips and salat the fish fingers were very posh in the did with bohnen and chips. excellent portion size on all four dressed. the atmosphere is beautiful and relaxed and the service was brilliant and friendly, without being intrusive. we were here 2 years on the tanne and every time we were very happy with everything."
