"Great little place, it's just so pretty. The bar staff are friendly and know their stuff and recommended a really beautiful pineapple gin and ginger beer combo that I talked about for months. The menu is expansive and thoughtfully laid out with plenty of choice and pretty good value. It's laid back, but beautifully appointed and cosy. Even on a cold winter night, the window seat under the tree was cosy and warm. It's really nice for Glossop to have somewhere like this. I so hope it gets the custom it deserves to stay a fixture on the high street. Can't wait to try some food there next time."

"This restaurant offers freshly prepared pasta and authentic pizzas made in an oven, along with a friendly Italian owner. It's the perfect spot to experience a taste of Italy. They can accommodate vegan and dairy-free options for main courses, but it's unclear if they have gluten-free offerings for mains or desserts. The service, atmosphere, and food all received top marks, with recommended dishes including the ravioli. The average price per person is between £20-£30 for dinner."
"Came here one day after stumbling upon the sign on the main high street, and so glad I did. The atmosphere is so lovely and welcoming, the staff are incredibly accomodating and friendly. I'm naturally quite shy and I felt no anxiety in here. The food is tasty, the vegan options are extensive, not to mention such a good price! I decided to come back since I loved it so much and even though they were busy inside, they moved a table from outside in, just so I could avoid the tempermental weather. They went above and beyond and seem to genuinely care about what they're doing here. I cannot recommend this place enough! Cafés like this are a dying breed, it's truly a gem and probably one of my favourite little establishments I've been to in a very long time. I wish them all the success as they truly deserve it."

"I researched this café, looking for a meal break in my long journey home from Sheffield. I made a special detour to Glossop to go there. I checked the opening hours on their website the night before, which said they were open until 5pm. It was very disappointing therefore to find all the chairs on the tables and someone cleaning up at just before 3.45. The man explained that they had been very quiet. When I asked about the hours on the website the man said that they didn't know the password to make changes!! Luckily I spotted a Food Hall (not just any food hall... down a path on the opposite side of the road and went there. I try and support the independents but I felt badly let down by this one. I would have been writing a quite different review if the man in the café had had either compassion or a business brain. Both were absent. When I had just travelled an hour to get there and find the café closing, the offer of a hot drink and piece of toast would have been very welcome. As it was I had a very tasty halloumi and falafel wrap in the Food Hall."
"What a gem! Arrived 20 minutes before closing team to be greeted and seated with a warm welcome. A delicious homemade pie and chips, with the perfect balance of cheeses. Which is often not the case as many pies are too cheesy. Lovely staff too. Will certainly be back next time we're in the area. And I suggest any hungry walkers do the sams. "The Commercial Inn has recently won local MP, Robert Largen's “Best Pub in the High Peak” award. The pub is located on the corner of Manor Park Road and Sheffield Road but doesn't have it's own car park although street parking is available. The pub was clean and well presented and comprises three rooms that could be described as the bar area, pool room and dining area. Three large muted TV screens were turned on in the pool room and bar areas. The bar staff were smartly dressed and very polite. A food menu was provided but it was necessary to ask for the lunchtime menu which was eventually received. Two real ales were on offer: Timothy Taylor Landlord and Sharp's Solar Wave Hazy IPA as well as a good selection of lagers, ciders, wines and spirits. We ordered a ciabatta from the lunchtime menu as well as a meal from the main menu. The food took 45 minutes to arrive and when received had garden peas instead of the mushy peas that were requested (not a deal breaker but does show inefficiency). The food was of good quality, tastey and well presented. The value for money was OK and if you are in the area it's well worth giving the Commercial Inn a try."

"For the second time I was a guest of Daniel and his team. When I checked in, I mentioned that it felt like coming home. I like the design and style of the whole house, The rooms are great and the pub downstairs is just a beer lover's dream. And after a nice evening at the bar, breakfast has to be right too: and this is great too! I look forward to seeing you again! Cheers Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5"

"The pub has new tenants and they need to up their game where supplying shiny, clean glassware is concerned. It might have been clean, but the glass supplied with my wife 's cider was watermarked and wet which just doesn 't look nice glasses should sparkle! I noticed that another wine drinking customer also had a freshly cleaned, but grubby looking glass. The pub is attractively decorated with comfortable seating. Being quite spacious, it needs a fair few customers to feel properly 'lived in ', but it was quiet when we visited we enjoy more of a 'buzz '. There 's fierce competition from Old Glossop 's two other pubs, both within 50 metres and so I expect that it 'll take time to build a regular clientele there 's lots of promise though and I wish them well."

"Before visiting Castleton for the weekend, I read reviews advising to make restaurant reservations ahead of time. After seeing positive reviews and reasonable prices on TripAdvisor, we decided to book a table at 1530. It turned out to be a great choice. We enjoyed everything, from the ambiance of the restaurant to the friendly staff, and most importantly, the delicious food. We have recommended it to our friends and would happily dine there again. I have my eye on the slow-cooked beef dishes served on Sundays. Thank you, 1530, for a wonderful experience."

"Family meal with grandchildren. Can concur with other positive reviews suffice to say food was outstanding especially the specials. Grandchildren were delighted at the chance to construct their own complimentary pizzas with all food and beverages reasonably priced. At 1830 on a Monday evening it was well attended so would advise to book in advance. Full marks for all staff and their interactions with grandchildren who had a blast. Three birthday parties tonight with all bells a whistles."

"We were staying in Hayfield at an Airbnb cottage and wandered up the road to find this pub. The name made us wonder if it was going to be a bit of a boozer but when we went inside we were pleasantly surprised. On arrival, we were shown to our table and given details on the specials and our drinks order taken. The menu was typical of a pub which had some old favourites and a couple of fish dishes on offer. We both chose a goats cheese starter. For the mains my partner went for the chicken in a beautifully creamy sauce and I had traditional fish and chips with mushy peas. All absolutely delicious! For pudding we asked one of the very helpful, smily waitresses her opinion on the best dessert and she suggested the Malteasers cheesecake. My partner had that and I had the blueberry cheesecake perfect! The staff are very friendly and smiley, they make time to have a chat with you and the food and service was excellent. We would highly recommend visiting this pub and if ever visiting Hayfield again we will be back!"

"We were staying near Bakewell and had visited the few vegan cafes in that area but decided to travel a bit further into Glossop to check out Pepino Deli. It's a charming café with welcoming staff. It seems a popular spot as three of the half a dozen or so tables were already occupied just after 12,15pm. I ordered the Sweet Chilli Chx made up of marinated tofu, pineapple and red pepper in a sticky sweet chilli sauce with broccoli and giant cous cous. I was presented with a pungent bowl with aromas of garlic and chilli and it was absolutely luscious! Neal ordered the Chickpea Chuna Melt smoked chickpeas and nori in a mayo dressing, red onion and melted cheese on ciabatta. It arrived with tiny sautéed potatoes and a crisp slaw. Pronounced most enjoyable by himself. The deli also sells some lovely vegan cheeses and vegan meats such as smoked ham and salami. And there was cake! I ordered a raspberry and custard slice to take away. Unusual combination but very yummy. Apparently Pepino Deli is related to Plant Planet in Castleton so we will try and make it there later this week."

"We were informed that almost everything on the full vegan menu was gluten-free, except for a couple of items. We ordered two garlic bread pizzas, two main dishes, a large salad to share, a juice each, and the total bill came to £36. The staff were accommodating and did not seem bothered by catering to vegan and gluten-free diets, unlike some other places. The food was delicious, with the avocado in the salad being particularly creamy and soft."

"I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention other readers a deeply distressing experience my partner and I had at your restaurant recently. While I commend your team's initial professionalism and understanding when we were running late, I must express my grave concern and disappointment with the way a severe allergic reaction was handled during our dinner. To provide context, I failed to disclose my severe nut allergy during the booking process, an oversight for which I take full responsibility. However, I was alarmed that neither our server nor the kitchen staff inquired about allergies when we placed our order, a standard practice that could have averted the unfortunate events that followed. I ordered the Stone Bass fillet, and upon taking the first bite, I immediately sensed an allergic reaction—my ears itching and throat tightening. Concerned, my boyfriend asked the server to confirm if the dish contained nuts. After a brief check, the server assured us that there were no nuts in the dish, and gave a thumbs up afterwards. Trusting this information, I continued to eat, only for my reaction to intensify. In the midst of my escalating allergic response, we expressed our urgent need to leave and requested the bill. Shockingly, another server insisted on the mandatory 2-course minimum for the set menu, despite our plea that I was unwell. This felt like an inappropriate and callous insistence on a policy rather than a genuine concern for our well-being. I want to emphasize that our complaint is not entirely motivated by financial concerns; we understand and respect restaurant policies. However, it would have been appreciated if we could have just paid for what we ordered. The lack of sensitivity and understanding during a medical emergency is deeply troubling. We both work in healthcare and we would expect a higher level of care and compassion from your establishment. The situation was aggravated by the absence of an allergen sheet, a standard feature in reputable establishments. Instead, the server texted the list of ingredients, which did little to alleviate our concerns and added an unusual element to the already tense situation. I sincerely hope you take this feedback seriously and use it as an opportunity to reevaluate your team's approach to customer care, particularly in instances of allergies. Imagine if this were a life-threatening situation involving your child, I would trust you would agree that compassion should always take precedence over policy. I urge you to consider implementing better training for your staff regarding allergy protocols and emergency situations. Your restaurant's reputation is at stake, and I believe a commitment to improvement will not only salvage customer trust but also contribute to a safer dining environment for all patrons. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I sincerely hope you take the necessary steps to prevent such distressing incidents in the future. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"

"The restaurant is very dog friendly with incredibly friendly staff. The building is clean and the food, although a little expensive, is very tasty. The 53 degree burger is especially delicious! The fries and ketchup are reminiscent of those you would find at an all-inclusive hotel overseas, which is definitely a good thing. Our meal, including three non-alcoholic drinks, two burgers with fries, and a plate of goulash with bread, came to a total of £52.50. We didn't leave feeling overly full or unsatisfied, and would definitely consider returning in the future."

"I came here to stay for NYE with my family including our puppy. First when we arrived our puppy got bitten in her face by an aggressive dog in the restaurant I reported this to the staff but nothing at all was done about it, the guy behind the bar just shrugged his shoulders at me. It was VERY expensive for a 1 night stay, without breakfast. The food was also VERY expensive and not very good quality the fish batter was tough, garden peas were hard and undercooked and the chips were burnt black. The custard was thick, lumpy and cold. When we got to the room we had to listen to lots of disturbing noises from our neighbours which went on all night. My poor children are traumatised by this awful experience. The playground is extremely unsafe and needs lots of things fixing, it was literally hanging on for dear life. Safe to say we will never return here. And definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else."

"I was enticed to visit this restaurant by my sister who promised me cake and tea after what she described as a “Gentle Stroll” (which turned out to be anything but gentle)! Despite the unexpected adventure, we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions served at lunch and the wide selection of delicious cakes. The experience was so enjoyable that we returned the following day to buy some Bakewell Slices to bring home with us."

"The starter we had was absolutely gorgeous (halloumi fries), however, the main was very disappointing. I had fish chips and my husband had southern fried chicken burger and both of them tasted like they weren’t made fresh but were frozen. The texture for both of them weren’t great! I also don’t know if it’s just the time we went (Sunday lunchtime), but there was only one staff member serving, which meant that service was rather slow at least until another staff member started their shift. Service was alright though."

"We picked Kouros Cafe for an evening meal for something a bit different as we don't have a Greek restaurant nearby at home. We're glad we did! The food was excellent. We were spoilt for choice as we wanted to try a lot of the menu. We had starters of Spetsofai and Spanakopitakia which were both amazing and good portions for a starter. For mains we tried Kleftiko and of course the Moussaka which was appreciated on a cold winter evening. The only regret is we were too full to try dessert as the Portokalopita sounded amazing! The restaurant is a little bit further from the main street in Chapel-en-le-Frith and that might be why it was a little quieter than other restaurants on a Saturday. It certainly isn't the food which was splendid. The staff were also very friendly and attentive. We appreciated them helping teach us how to pronounce some of the dishes which we were unfamiliar with. We hope to return some day to try more of the menu."
