"We were looking for a new spot for coffee and breakfast and decided to try this place. The exterior and interior looked appealing and it wasn't too crowded. After reading some reviews on Facebook, we decided to give it a shot. The waitress seemed preoccupied but offered us a table outside, though we preferred to sit inside. She then suggested a table by the window that was very close to the other customers. When we asked to sit at a different table nearby, she surprisingly told us to sit wherever we liked. We considered the fact that the restaurant prefers cash payments as a small business and thought about how welcome we felt. Ultimately, my wife and I decided to leave before ordering as we felt like new customers might not be appreciated. While we believe the place is likely decent, first impressions are important."

"AVOID THIS PLACE. We have ordered from here three times now. The first time was great - delicious food and good value for money. However, our last two orders were cancelled. The first time, they were busy and we waited over half an hour before being told our order was cancelled. Tonight, just 45 minutes after placing our order, they called to say they had run out of chicken. If you order from a chicken place, you expect to get chicken! We won't be returning after being let down two out of three times. Shame on you, Tipsy Chicken."

"As a first-time customer, I ordered a mixed grill with nan bread and a Greek salad for takeout. Unfortunately, the mixed grill was lacking in meat and consisted mainly of cold chips with a small amount of sauce and a few pieces of salad wrapped in nan bread. The quality was subpar compared to a good Turkish kebab takeaway. The Greek salad was small and uninspiring, you could find something similar for a lower price at a supermarket. While the food was edible and served in clean containers, the staff were polite. However, if you're looking for authentic homemade Greek food, I would recommend trying elsewhere as it seemed like the shop may be supplied by a franchise with food made off-site. I cannot recommend this restaurant at the prices they are charging as it felt like a massive rip-off."

"Visited yesterday after booking my child’s 8th birthday party and it was brilliant! £12.95 a head and it included dough balls with garlic butter veg, handmade pizza, ice cream and drinks. The pizzas were bigger than standard children’s sizes so many parents tucked in as well! We had a private party area which was accessible by stairs and lift and this was really appreciated. There was plenty of room for all the children and tables for the parents who stayed, plus a table for the birthday cake and party bags, and it overlooked the dock. The kids got activity colouring sets, chefs hats and aprons and had a brilliant pizza making session with one of the staff who was fantastic with the kids who were all in hysterics. The kids (and parents! got to have a go at dough flaring the place was covered in flour and so glad I wasn’t cleaning up. I was told the party would be 1.5 hours but we were there well over 2 hours, there was no pressure from the staff who were all super helpful. I choose to start the party at 11am which was a great option as we pretty much had the restaurant to ourself for the first hour. Thank you you really exceeded our expectations and I don’t think Pizza Express advertises these parties enough."

"Myself and my friend went for the groupon and after seeing the mixed reviews I was very apprehensive but I didn't need to be because it was great! The two girls serving were really friendly and the cakes we had were yummy, especially the lemon drizzle and the ginger, lime and toffee both were really moist. The groupon included any drink and a platter of 6 good sized pieces of cake each which we struggled to finish but because they were so yummy we ate every last crumb! It was nice and quiet when we arrived on a misereable Saturday morning and we stayed for a good two hours. The prices of the cake without the groupon were really reasonable all around £2 for a big piece of cake and we will definitely be going back. Contrary to other reviews we found the cakes to all be very moist and the only thing I can think when people say it is dirty is that the tables have coffee stains on but this is after being cleaned, everything else was spotless."

"Always a pleasure to come to cross keys. One of our local pubs it’s great for sport, a selection of beers and homely food. We are often in cross keys and my partner likes the wide selection of gins available here. There’s a nice atmosphere and plenty of tv screens which they can split over two sky boxes. Sport is shown pretty much every night and live music occurs each weekend.The separate dining area is nice as noise can be sepereated and the staff work quickly and efficiently. The staff are also knowledgeable on their dishes and the selections of drinks they offer which is great as you can make an informed choice. We both had the fish platter which was lovely."

"I love lenas. it is my favorite place in the city center for lunch and although I don't work in the center, I always try to visit when I can. the salads are incredible. I would recommend it very much. so a great selection of delicious fresh ingredients and not a boring salad leaf in itself. cauliflower, quinoa, pea root, carrot,rice broccoli, hummus and the roasted kartoffels are amazing."

"After the Head of Steam nearby stopped selling Kerb Edge burgers, I was unsure where to find a good burger. I was delighted when we stumbled upon this restaurant. It was quiet, just after work on a Friday night, and we perused the menu. I had heard about their “Gadgie Burgers” and decided to give them a try. We opted for a gadgie burger deal which included a burger, fries, and a beer for only £7, a much better deal than the nearby establishment's £17 for a burger and a pint! The food was fantastic - the burger was juicy, packed with bacon and cheese, and the sauce was delicious. The fresh lettuce, onion, and tomato added to the flavor. The chips were crispy, hot, generously seasoned, and plentiful. My partner even claimed it was better than Dope Burger, and I couldn't argue! It was the least greasy burger we've had and bursting with flavor. The staff, consisting of a chef and bartender due to the quiet evening, were friendly and accommodating. My partner enjoyed watching football on the large screen. We have already decided to come back next week, and I highly recommend others in the area to pay a visit as well!"

"During our 4-day trip to Hull, we visited the Wonky Tulip every day for either breakfast or just coffee. Located across the river from the Premier Inn, at one of the entrances to the Old Town, the coffee was top-notch, far superior to the subpar brews often found at large chain establishments. The staff were all welcoming and friendly, with a special shoutout to Linda who provided us with lots of helpful tips and information about local events. The bread was delicious and we couldn't resist buying a loaf to take home. Overall, the prices were very reasonable. If you appreciate quality coffee and excellent service, you won't be disappointed at the Wonky Tulip."

"On Saturday night, when my son was at work and I didn't feel like cooking, I decided to treat myself to a takeaway meal. I'm not a fan of food delivery, so I went to the restaurant myself. As soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed and the decor gave off a beach hut vibe. A friendly server greeted me and gave me time to look at the menu. I ordered the "Proper Gadgie Burger" with a side of mozzarella sticks. While waiting for my food, I noticed some seats at the counter. After eight minutes, my order was ready and I headed home to enjoy my meal. The burger was carefully wrapped and still hot when I opened it. It was a hefty burger with two thick, high-quality steak patties cooked to perfection. The burger also had maple-cured bacon, fresh lettuce, pickles, and a special sauce, all served on a premium bun. The mozzarella sticks were standard but satisfying. After finishing my meal, I felt full and much happier than I would have been eating at a typical fast food chain. The total cost was £9.00, which I found to be excellent value for such a premium product. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant for more delicious meals in the future."

"Having visited L'anima on several occasions, I decided to use the venue for a surprise birthday for my wife. This was the first time they'd catered for such a large party (around 20 of us in total) and the place was creaking at the seams but we managed to seat everyone with a little ingenuity! The standard of food as usual was excellent and once again, Bart produced a variety flawless, high quality dishes, all ready at the same time. Some of the dishes were quite literally cooked to order on the spot and still everything was ready at the right time! The group was served by Evelyne and for one waitress serving food and drinks to a group of around 20 people, everyone got their food at the same time, and yet she still had time to chat to the customers. Many larger venues could well take note of the standards employed by this relatively small place and small number of staff! After the event, everyone I have spoken to commented on the quality of the food, the ability for everything to be served at the same time and the general atmosphere of the place. The staff really do make an effort to make people feel welcome and I know many of the party who had their first experience of L'anima will be going back again! Well done L'amima VERY IMPRESSED!"

"I have ordered many paintings in regents in the last few years, but since I was diagnosed with celiac disease, I had no use. on a laune thought I would call and see if they offered gluten-free choices and I was glad that they didn't just hear, but I was sure that nothing was wrong. I just enjoyed taking my first gf Chinese away and it won't be the last. I had no reactions (I reacted very quickly to gluten) and it was delicious and enjoyable."

"We have visited The Dancing Goat cafe on numerous occasions and can safely say from our experiences that this is by far one of the best and most consistent, cafes in this area of Hull. Staff: The staff are always extremely friendly and try their upmost to ensure that your experience is of the highest standard. They can recommend from the menu and are always willing to be flexible should you require and suitable small changes for personal preference. We also enjoy watching their small goat mascots as they make their adventures not only around the cafe, but across the world!! Food: Food is always prepared and served to a high standard and in the prompt manner that you would expect from a lunch meal. We have not yet experienced an afternoon tea here, but it is an important point to note that if there are multiple afternoon tea's taking place in the cafe whilst you are dining, you still feel like a valuable customer who will not be forgotten or neglected well done! Occasions: We have seen advertisements for special nights here (psychic nights, set menu themed meals, etc... but also have not been fortunate enough to attend but one of our favourite special touches is their Christmas advent calendar. This is when a random customer each day (from children to elderly is chosen to receive a small treat. It is a combination of all the above that places The Dancing Goat so highly in our opinions and why we shall continue to return so frequently. Well done!"

"Went in for a drink with my boyfriend before a meal down Princess Ave, we wouldn't have gone in unless the staff outside talked us into it and we felt bad for them. Not a single other customer, half the drinks on tap were off,...the barmaid didn't know how to make a pornstar martini and we had to wait a good while for her to be shown how to do it. The music was blaring out, really loud for just people. Had to shout to hear each other. The decor looks tacky, ultra modern and cheap. Not a patch on other bars in the area. Even when I pass Bliss now it seems to always be extreamly quiet, while other bars almost next door are full of people. We left as soon as our drinks were finished and I highly doubt we will return."

"We popped in for lunch and a 'proper coffee '. The café was warm and welcoming when we arrived. Relaxing ambience too. It was like stepping back in time, in a good way. After perusing the menu, which had a great choice of snacks and lunches, along with a vast selection of coffees and teas, we decided on a vegetable curry, and a jacket potato with extra toppings. The food and drinks were well presented and plentiful. Considering most of the tables were occupied, we didn 't have to wait long to be served. Nor did we wait very long for the food to arrive. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Might I add, the prices were extremely reasonable for the good quality of ingredients. We were nicely full, but decided to share an apple crumble with custard, which rounded off the meal. Again, a good portion size and homemade. All in all a pleasant experience. We will definitely be visiting again."

"Visited Pizza Hut after a few years away. Was not really impressed with the food onsite. The salad bar was good, fresh and stocked up. Drinks menu was good. Unfortunately after a few years I was expecting the menu to have changed and adapted but it hasn’t. There was not many options of pizza toppings especially when you compare it to a pizza express or dominoes. When the pizza arrived it was very greasy and the stuffed crust base was very thin. Chicken wings were ordered as a side. These arrived cold and seemed to be reheated. Chicken bites were the same. Service was okay, promptly seated and seen too. Was pushed towards using the phone application. This was not the smoothest operation. Did not support Apple Pay meaning I needed to follow card bank verification. Took a long time for the order to go through. Won’t be in a rush to return. The memories of Pizza Hut when I was a child outweigh reality."

"Visited with my friend after eating at a local restaurant we just wanted a hot drink.We ordered 2 hot chocolates when they arrived we had to take them back as they was not very hot, in fact only Luke warm. They was quickly exchanged. The staff not very friendly. Whilst was was sat chatting one of the staff dropped something we water in which splashed all over my friend. My friend issues a walking stick as well has going up her arm was on the floor near her feet. When the staff came to take the empty cups away my friend mentioned about the water up her arm also on the floor the girl just laughed walked away. I telephoned the next day one of the staff that was on the night before was apparently the manager she just said to her knowledge it wasn’t much water would check the cctv call me back, guess what i never heard from her again. Appalling service. The one on new land avenue is far better"

"Came in with a friend and we ordered starters, Onion Bhajee for him and prawn cocktail for me. The cocktail was nice, when the waiter came to take the dishes away asked my friend if everything was ok, my friend commented the Bhajee was too dry and a bit on the large side, after saying that the waiters attitude changed dramatically. We then went on to order lamb curry for him and I had Chicken Tikka Masala. My fiend had about 4 fork fulls and couldn 't eat anymore and in his words was 'disgusting '.. As for my Tikka, I have never had one with coconut in and the sauce was covered in it.. As I don 't like warm coconut I made sure I ordered Tikka instead of Korma (which does contain coconut), it was also a very bright red colour (I 've only ever seen Tikka an orangy colour).. The chicken also had a bit of a plastic texture.. It really spoilt the night and unfortunately had a horrible affect on our stomache 's the day after. We will never be returning there as it 's gone drastically down hill."

"It was very quiet on my Saturday afternoon visit but it was really pleasant inside, a little on the small side but this could pass off as been exclusive. My only vice is the coffee wasn’t the hottest. On the counter there were the hugest domes of bread that really did look impressive, homemade and rustic. Being a huge lover of bread I was massively enticed to take one home to devour later, I resisted. The menu is classic, appetizers, bruschetta and pastas there was something modern but authentic about the dishes as well as an impressive specials board. I originally wanted a small snack but was drawn in by the bruschetta- chicken, salami and chili with a tomato sauce served with a side salad. To my delight the bruschetta was the bread on the counter, lightly toasted and thick cut. The full dish was stunning appearance and taste. I can’t wait to go back for pasta or a salad knowing it will be the freshest quality ingredients. Amici also has a license; a glass of wine would be a prefect accompaniment."
