"Coffee was fine, food arrived quickly and was fine, good eggs, beans, toast and hash browns plus veggie bap. Very low quality catering sausages, though. Service was really strange. The American guy on the till was really friendly and efficient. Top marks to him, and to the woman who served our food to the table. 3/4 staff members were very helpful, friendly and efficient. However …. The female, young, member of staff wearing a vest top was *extremely* rude to a lady sitting next to us upstairs, who was completely minding her own business and was charging her phone. Lady had bought a cake and a coffee…."

"We had a works xmas meal here on 2nd dec. The pub was so warm and welcoming with a real festive feel to it. The tree, decorations and tables looked so pretty. Tne food was fantastic and so reasonable at £19.95 for the 3 course xmas menu plus coffee. The food was plentiful and piping hot. Everyone enjoyed their meal there were 17 of us). The staff were all so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We would definately recommend this pub for its food, service and friendly atmosphere. Thank you for making our night special."

"Started off well. Lovely old building, much more character on the inside than the outside suggests. Reminds me in a good way of how pubs used to be. Shame the woman running in was just downright rude. Seems to be a theme running through other reviews. The barmaid was lovely and friendly. The place was quite full with nowhere obvious to sit. There was an area with four tables with the lights off so I asked the barmaid if she could turn them on, and she happily agreed. Sat down at the table and a rude and unpleasant woman came over and told us we couldn 't sit there, they weren 't using the room tonight, and we 'd have to sit somewhere else. No smile, no apology, no pleasant words. As we 're walking out of the area confused wondering where the hell to sit, I said quite loudly care to suggest somewhere? and the woman turned back and said there 's a large table through there , directing us into a cramped back bar occupied by a group of locals who obviously weren 't happy at being intruded upon. My partner was really upset by this point so we ended up leaving our drinks and walking out. I 've drunk at all the local pubs on the back roads round here... The Knatchbull, The Bell, The Vobster, The Poacher 's, Strode Arms, The King 's Head, The Talbot... all fantastic pubs with warm, friendly staff and punters. Never found any of them less than pleasant and welcoming. Never had a problem in any of them. Never had reason not to wholeheartedly recommend any of them. The Wagon and Horses is a whole different story and I wouldn 't go back if you paid me."

"I had been to the farm shop a few times before and was excited for Sunday lunch with my family. When we arrived, we were informed that there was a gas issue and the menu was limited, but Sunday roast was still available. We ordered from the menu only to find out that it was outdated and incorrect. Our lunch was not great - the meat was dry and overcooked, swimming in salty gravy. The roast potatoes were the only good part. After finishing our main course, we were told that we might not be able to order dessert as it was getting late. After some protest, we were served dessert. I don't think I'll go back for Sunday lunch again, as there are better options in the area."

"We had a delightful lunch at this restaurant on a bustling bank holiday Monday. The tapas were delicious, and they catered to my gluten intolerance with a separate menu. The whipped feta, chicken wings, and patatas bravas were particularly recommended. The atmosphere was enjoyable with live music, and the staff were polite, friendly, and hard-working. We would definitely recommend this place and plan to visit again."

"We stayed at The George in January, it was a quiet weekend , we had dinner Saturday and Sunday and stayed both nights in the Castle Room, the room was spacious, clean and had excellent amenities, not just a kettle but a coffee machine, mini fridge, water in room etc, lovely extra touches that are welcomed. The food was lovely, staff welcoming and the fire in the pub lovely to sit near whilst enjoying a drink. Our family joined us and stayed on Saturday and they liked their room as well, especially the bathroom which had a very spacious shower. All in all, great village pub with a very traditional feel, well worth booking ."

"I visited whilst on a Christmas trip out supporting a service user. The person lives in a care home where I work. The restaurant setting was lovely with room to walk to seats without disturbing other diners. Would not be as accessible for wheelchair users. The meals were delicious and service perfect. Unfortunately this ended when I came to pay the bill. I had not been informed that the venue was cashless. Payment would only be accepted by card. As the service users I support have learning difficulties they do not have access to bank cards. I explained this to the server who said I would have been told that it was card payment only when I arrived which hadn't been the case. I was able to pay by cash as authorised by the manager but would not be able to have any change. I left feeling very disappointed with Prezzo and will not be returning. The establishment cannot seem themselves as an inclusive dining establishment as there are plenty of service users whom cannot enjoy a meal at their restaurant due to being a cashless setting. It turned an enjoyable experience into an embarrassing one which left us paying more for our meals."

"Booked with booking.com and not disappointed. Had a four poster bed which was really comfortable and spacious. Jaunty slope to floor which was great given age of property. Large room, able to open 2 windows and fan also provide. Loved the huge deep chest at bottom of bed. Unsure why there were wet patches on carpet though-possibly spot cleaned by housekeeping? Would have stayed another night but room was already booked. Curved staircase added to the character of the hotel. Although no hotel parking there is a public car park behind the hotel-$6.50 all day, free 6pm-9am, blue badge holders free. Back entrance to hotel off this car park, couldn’t be easier. Easy reception checked in early as room ready. Drop keys off in box on leaving. Toiletries supplied, tea/coffee making facilities and large bottle of water in room. Ate dinner in hotel, tasty and good choice. Breakfast included again tasty and good choice. Could do with more staff in evening as the 2 waiters were rushed off their feet. On leaving asked to pay by one when we had already paid the other. Waiter could have better knowledge of drinks or have a drinks menu for customers. Restaurant had some good artwork painted onto wall as did Jack Horners corner a nice little seating area over flagstone floor from bar seating. Will definitely stay again in four poster bedroom, did have a peek at others in morning as being cleaned and lots of different size rooms of good size. We didn’t stay in the nuns cell or the confessional but loved the names."

"chips are up there with the best I've had in the country. The customer service is excellent and the cooks obviously take pride in their product, as is evident by the quality. Please be prepared to wait at busy times as you can't prepare food of this standard in 10 minutes. The drinks are reasonably priced and the courtyard is a wonderful place to eat in warmer times. It was a pleasure to eat in an establishment that put customer service and quality of food above simply making a profit."

"Abusive owner and staff! Do not go their if you have kids, dogs or anything that may annoy them. Just arrived in town after a long flight. Thought this cafe looked cute. Ordered some drinks from their menu which were ok. However, I soon noticed the strange behaviour of the owner who was directing strange comments towards my 5 year old Who was asking what 's that etc. He avoided answering the questions of my child. He then said ill give you a spoon full of that mate, hahah without adressing me or looking at me once , regarding the spirulina on display. My son was obviously a little disturbed by the strange way of talking, but I thought it must be this man 's way of communication and he didn 't mean any harm. My son then had a tantrum moment, unhappy with his banana milk, and went to the window to look at the ornaments, he was not braking anything...but this man said, Don 't touch that mate ill throw you out of here in a minute to a 5 year old! To which my son tapped him on the leg. This horrific man then turned to me and attacked me verbally shouting at me that we were scum and what kind of people were we. How I did not know what kind of life he had and better get out of his establishment for the insulting behaviour. He kept repeating his son was here today working over and over he said this, im not sure why....I tried to reason with him that this was a 5 year old boy, but he would not stop shouting, I couldn 't get a word in edge ways. I realised there was no way to reason with a man in such mental turmoil....At one point I thought he will physically attack me at any moment. He was very intimidating. I saw my son had gone to hide at the back of the cafe under a table. I quickly paid, (his staff member, who made no eye contact but said to her boss, leave it), as i thought he may do something worse, whilst throughout this man continued his verbal assault. I collected my son and friend, who was also very shaken and left. I have since wondered whether I should have contacted the police to report this behaviour. Kids will be kids, but there is never an excuse for someone in customer service to behave that way, let alone to a mother and young child. I fear I am not the first nor the last to have experienced this treatment."
"We are ashamed to admit that it 's been several months since our last visit, but the meal last night was excellent, so we will not be away for so long until our next visit. We all opted for Steaks, our wives went for 8oz Ribeye, medium rare, whereas us guys opted for the hearty 16oz TBone rare. The pub was busy and we are aware that they have a very small kitchen and I guess our food was served about half an hour after ordering, but as always, very much worth the weight. Steaks were cooked to perfection, every time we have we always say, that was the best steak so far , again, it was the same last night. Even the fact that the plates are full, hot, we plenty of peas. Chips and the onions were cooked to perfection. To see four empty plates, apart from the TBone says it all. We all went for pudding, which I regret, as my stomach was too full, so I gave half of mine away to my friend. But again, these puddings were all delicious, between us we had, treacle sponge pudding with custard, apple crumble cake with Chantilly cream and a Limoncello sponge pudding with ice cream and berries. Thought this was lacking in flavour. But was still a good pudding. It was also nice to see that the rickety furniture has been replaced with more robust pieces and that the lighting appeared to be more brighter. A much more comfortable than before, not that this really put us of. All of the above with plenty to drink, that left you with a bursting stomach, for less that £100 is still good value for money. We 'll be back!!"

"This is one of the finest hidden gems Somerset has to offer! Nestled in the gorgeous village of Wookey, the Wookey Hub clearly prides itself on serving the community, and doing it fairly. My partner and I spent well over an hour browsing some excellent local produce in the shop, followed by one of the finest full English breakfasts I've ever had. The shocker was that NOTHING was overpriced, and we came away with a bag full of stuff, including a fabulous Christmas wreath, made by a very talented person in the village. They do home deliveries too and, as we're fairly local (Wells), we'll be giving that a go. They also do packageless sales of things like pasta, washing up liquid, milk etc. Oh, and if you like mustard, they sell a wholegrain one made with cider in Wedmore (a few miles away) it's glorious!"

"Visited here after being recommended by a local hotel nearby. At first the lady that greeted us said there was no table for over 45mins even though there was multiple empty tables around the pub. Luckily a manager came past and seated us at one of the empty tables. After that we were the last people to come in and be seated so I dont know why the waitress didn't want to seat us straight away. We then ordered our food and the food was incredible... you could not fault the food however after eating our mains and leaving our empty plates on the table, it took over an hour for someone to come to the table to clear the plates and ask if we wanted another drink. We then waited another 30 mins before someone offered us a dessert menu and being my boyfriends birthday we really wanted a dessert. The desserts then came quite quickly but again were then left waiting an enormous time for the bill. This would have been understandable if the pub was busy but at this time it seemed like there was only one table left of friends in the pub so all the waiters and waitresses were sitting down with their friends having a good time but leaving us feeling very neglected in the corner. As the time went on we started to feel unwelcome and almost an inconvenience to the staff. In total we spent 3.5 hrs in the pub and only had mains, desserts and 2 drinks... not an acceptable time frame. Overall the food was beautiful but it was overshadowed by the pure neglect by the staff."

"problems, the booking so offered upgrade, but found the whole experience missing. no place to check-in was confusing. there was moist / water dropping down wall in bedroom staircase, no lock at bathroom door, not much room to hang clothes, no dressing, only a chair, in bathroom to open or close. insane. not a traditional tee. customer service lacks professionality for 4 stars. slowly forgotten waiter/server. no steak knives strange. eating was very expensive, but that is to be expected. we have lacked food service. very bubbly waiter but felt that he would listen more attentiveness to detail and know about menu. to casual in comparison to other 4 stars. it needs an enormous improvement. I sometimes forgot something. had to go to get bill was waiting too long. the server came into the coat to take breakfast orders, slowly to bring food, we had to go before they came to clarify. the room was very clean, but for the money we stayed better. upgrade was nice, but not yet on for the lack of detail and service we had on other 4 stars. would not be visited again unless improvements were made. we had not felt that we had looked around enough and were willing to go. you could not really find someone who really talked about it and felt like it didn't make any difference at all. I think more than a 2/3 star closer. we were just a small amount of diners so we could see why service so slow and poor we were not a warning. would have been better, a traditional tee to breakfast another couple that was agreed on our side. total mean."

"So, for the first time in a gbk, it was long to go. after this experience I will not rush back. the restaurant was about half full when we arrived. we were standing in the sign “Sat Here”... for age groups. many employees looked, but no one realized that we were there. just at the point where we were gone, one of the employees went by and collected us. No apology that she was left for an old one. try to order through the QR option, but system would say card was accepted, but then the transaction would not enforce. So went into the bar to order. the food came, the thin pommes were cold, not warm, but hardly warm. have caught the attention of one of the workers who was tested for heat by shooting their hands in the pommes. she agreed that they were cold, said sorry and took them back. we were hungry, so the burgers began. yo be fair, they were delicious. after the burger was almost finished, another employee asked how it was. I mentioned the pommes and she went to the cash. they finally came by when I finished my burger. at least this time they were hot. overall, no great experience, and will not rush back soon. the personal could do with some work on their customer service skills."

"We stayed here as a family of four. I chose it because it was close to Longleat where we had visited for the day and because the family room included two single beds for the children. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The staff were very chatty with our girls and we were shown to our room. The room was a good size for the 4 of us. Tea and coffee was available but the only tempting thing about it was the Lotus biscuits. The en-suite bathroom was disappointing. It was really quite grubby and in need of a deep clean. A renovation wouldn’t go amiss. The breakfast was excellent! I had the full English and asked for eggs, bacon and sausages to be well done which they were. Best hotel breakfast I’ve had in a while. Overall the place served its purpose as a place to sleep for the night but I wouldn’t stay here again."

"Pleasant enough waitress though she ‘forgot’ to take our order! Once we had bought that to her attention (after a wait of at least she duly apologised, took our order popped it through to the kitchen. Whilst we were waiting another table sent...back their food which was redelivered mins later. Still no sign of our food. Kitchen staff seemed busy popping in out of the bar/restaurant (popping lights on; it was lunchtime…bizarre)! The table whose food was redelivered left (without paying)….a subtle sign that we should perhaps have done the same but we’d already ordered, we were hungry, miles from home with no knowledge of any other eateries nearby we continued waiting patiently. At this point there were three tables occupied; one people) had finished their meals before we arrived some earlier ordered desserts, the other people) had just finished eating. They arrived after us but ordered before (as mentioned earlier we were overlooked when it came to ordering). After a wait of in excess of we were told by the waitress that the kitchen had ‘lost’ our order (and also the dessert order of the neighbouring table) but our food was ‘on its way’. Obviously we told them not to bother as did the other table. How this can happen when there were just two tables occupied when we arrived (total customers) beggars belief! Hideously poor service from the kitchen to the waitress…..don’t bother; do yourself a favour drive right on by!"
