"My group of six went out for a night and weren't in a hurry. The starters were good, including tasty soup, garlic mushrooms, and prawn salad. We understand that the kitchen is small at the pub, but we were quite hungry by the time the starters arrived after waiting over an hour. The main courses came after another wait. Five of us enjoyed our meals, but unfortunately, the salmon was overcooked and drowned in a sauce that one person did not like. It seemed like a poor choice. The desserts were good, and some of us opted for coffee or tea. The overall cost of the meal was very reasonable."

The food and beer were both mediocre and the decor could use some updating. We probably won't be back in a hurry. However, the beer garden is quite nice during the summer months.

four of us ordered the ribeye steak that came in a piping hot dish, the steaks were boiled as we asked for them. Saturday is Steak night, so they make a good deal, our steaks were £10 everyone who is good.

A gem, a true country pub. Walk in, smile and say Hello and you will immediately know you are welcome. Nothing pretentious or arty farty Just genuine, good value, so rare these days. Excellent ales at sensible prices. This is a pub for country pub connoisseurs.

beautiful little pub with a little personality. eat very well and inexpensive. beautiful location, away from the beaten. many tables outside, dotted over the gardens so not over each other. my eating was finished with an ice cream carrier. a simple pleasure and you do not see on another menu.

People's reviews of this place vary a lot, as you will have seen. This reflects a lack of consistent high standards in quality, service, and so on. Sometimes things are great, sometimes OK and sometimes poor. So you take your chance. On the positive side, the location is delightful and it's a great place to walk to from Frome and nearby. The beer is good real ale.

Went here for a 82nd Birthday and there was 10 of us and we had pre-booked in for 12:30 on a Sunday (they open at 12). Sadly we had to wait until near 2pm for the food to arrive even though we had only ordered one course. There was 3 other tables and their wait was equally as long despite only 3 or 4 people at their tables. However when the food did arrive it was of high quality and full of taste. If they could reduce the waiting time to normal this place would be great

After reading Sarah C's review, I couldn't help but feel that she was completely unaware of the situation. I feel the need to set the record straight. On that Friday night, the chef unexpectedly fell ill (suffering a stroke, to be exact). While Sarah was complaining about trivial matters, the staff and the chef's partner of over 20 years were awaiting the arrival of the ambulance. I want to thank Sarah for her disrespectful review, but she is not welcome back at our restaurant.

always great value for money. advise them that they try to come early, especially on Saturday 'Steak Nights', as this is popular and with such a small kitchen they can wait for a while to eat. eating is worth waiting because it was always very good, and the best steaks are served here to such a good value. the four of us had rump steaks, with a few drinks and a desert for just over £80. the people can have a wing over the decoration or service, but the price-performance ratio is so good and the quality of the food is not at all affected
