North Norfolk is famed for its stunning coastline, charming villages, and seafood, particularly Cromer crabs, often enjoyed in local eateries or on the scenic beaches.

"We can't rate the food here highly enough. All the ingrediants are sourced locally and used to create the most flavioursome gorgeous food that I have had in a very long while. We started with the Smoked Salmon from Brancaster. It was accompained by Crispy Capers and horseradish citrus. We had some cheeky scrumptious artisan bread on the side which was so naughty but nice. For mains I had the Pork Steak, served with spiced pumpkin puree, sauteed mushrooms and apple caramel. OMG words cannot express how delicious this was. My partner went for the Wolverton Lamb served with roasted root veggies, black pudding mash and whisky lamb sauce. All washed down with a bottle of crisp, cold muscade, we finished off with the Cheese board and a heavy red. Oh what a treat!! The team are absolutely amazing. They are actively listening and looking to properly serve the customer and that is rare these days. I can't rate the Saracen's Head highly enough."

"A proper pub. We stopped by for a mid-afternoon pint whilst trying to walk off some of our excessive lunch at The Suffield. A smattering of locals were propping up the bar on a Monday, the fire was blazing, it was comfortable and there was a good range of ale on handpull. All very satisfying."

"Wonderful overnight stay at this lovely boutique hotel. Met by friendly receptionist Rachel who gave us a brief overview of the hotel layout whilst her colleague took our bags to the room. The room was a delight. It was a four poster with a good sized living area and an enormous bathroom. Very airy and comfortable. We had afternoon tea and a delicious evening meal in the restaurant. The waiting staff are friendly and professional without being intrusive. The maitre d’ did a wonderful job as she worked both the evening meal and breakfast the next day. Our breakfast was fresh and individually prepared. Plenty of tea and toast. My wife had the vegetarian breakfast and I had possibly the tastiest smoked salmon and scrambled eggs I’ve ever had at breakfast. Well done to everyone, proof that properly trained and motivated locals can do hospitality. At the Beechwood they do it exceptionally well. We really enjoyed our brief stay and will definitely return."

"We had a lovely meal here. Spiced belly pork with a tabbouleh salad and ham egg and chips. Both meals delicious. The crispy hens egg was gorgeous a soft boiled egg with a coating Waiter friendly and obliging. The food is quality over quantity but enough to satisfy, such delicious flavours and value for the type of food served. The meals are cooked to order so don 't expect 'fast food '. The desserts were sundaes of combinations we 'd not come across before and were lovely. Would love to go there again on our next visit to Cromer."

"This is Norfolk 's outstanding gem...!!! Quite literally stumbled upon whilst taking a wrong turn, my friend and I decided to have a meal there. Warmly greeted and shown to our table we looked through the wonderful menu. It was an excellent selection full of temptations. I chose steak whilst my friend went with a burger. Both arrived and looked gorgeous, the steak was perfectly cooked and the delicious chips had delightfully fluffy centres. My friends burger beat her, it was a huge portion and even I couldn 't finish off all her fries to help. Midweek we paid another visit in the evening and this time I tried their rather excellent beef lasagne, but this time I allowed myself to indulge in dessert. The homemade chocolate brownie was dreamy, I could easily have had seconds... Lastly I returned on the last night of my holiday and sampled a starter for a change, the utterly divine garlic mushrooms, its sauce not too overpowering so the subtle taste of the mushrooms came through. I followed this with their Gourmet Burger.. what I feast this is..!! Succulent beef patty with ample salad filling and bacon, served with side salad with dressing and fries. Absolutely tremendous!!! I finished with the profiteroles for afters which were the icing on the cake... Each meal was washed down with a bitter shandy (I 'm driving) made from the delightfully named Nanny Goat beer. The staff are exemplary and are happy to accommodate changes to the menu items, but more importantly unlike chain pubs your are not just a table number here, you are a customer and one they will happily dpend time chatting to and getting to know. This alone is worth the five stars even if it wasn 't gor the scrumptious food too. Do yourself a favour, go find this pub, stick on your sat nav or simply get lost down a lane in Skeyton like I did, but do find it.. this place is what pubs should all be like. Charming, rural and giving good custom.."

"The food at this restaurant was mediocre at best. While the pizzas were decent, the burger was not worth the price and the seafood linguine was terrible and lacked any crab. The waitstaff was forgetful and failed to take our drink orders, and the coke we ordered was flat. The wait for our food felt like forever in a dull and unexciting atmosphere. Overall, I would not recommend dining here due to the high prices and low quality of food and service. If you do decide to eat here, make sure to bring good company, entertainment, and your own snacks and drinks."

"For the past 6 years I have been taking my mum who is 88 years this week to this restaurant for lunch for her birthday and it has always been excellent. The service is ideal for a special occasion as it makes you feel special and the food has been superb. We went to the restaurant on Saturday and everything started off well, lovely starter, excellent service and friendly staff. Then we got the main course which was such a disappointment. The beautiful Cod was full of bones. The menu didn't say that the fish was not filleted. The chips were about 3cm square and although they tasted lovely the middle of the chips were uncooked. The mashed peas were very dry. We had to send the meal back because we couldn't eat it. I was very worried that my elderly mother would choke on a bone. When i went to reception to pay I was asked if everything was okay and I explained that the fish was not filleted. The manageress who was also at the reception desk was very snotty and said that all fish has bones and suggested that i order squid in future. I tried to explain that we had fish and chips out often and have never had bones in the fish. She was very dismissive and due to the attitude of this member of staff we would not go to this restaurant again. A simple apology would have been enough for us to return but avoid the fish. It is such a shame as we have always enjoyed our visits to this restaurant. If you decide to visit then beware of the Fish!"

"The food was decent, but the service was a real letdown. We waited two hours for our order, and when they finally got to it, they informed us that they were out of burgers. They didn't ask how we wanted our steak cooked, and we were given a butter knife instead of a steak knife, making it difficult to cut. We also had to wait an additional ten minutes for them to cook the steak properly, and they didn't offer any sauces or even a complimentary drink to compensate for the long wait. It's a shame, as we were just passing through, and we won’t be returning."

"After searching for the best breakfast spot in Cromer, we were let down by two cafes we tried. One was closed and the other didn't seem interested in serving us. We continued our search and stumbled upon Peggotys. We were thrilled with our experience - our breakfast was made to order with high quality bacon and sausage, and the coffee was excellent. The staff were very friendly. In terms of both value and quality, we believe Peggotys is the top choice for breakfast in Cromer. Thank you!"

"We visited this cafe whilst on holiday, we went here because they were open early and needed some breakfast as we're going out for the day however I would rather have waited for the cafe we had been using regularly to open!!!! We ordered a bacon sandwich and two large breakfasts one without beans the bacon sandwich came at least 15minutes if not longer before the rest of the food and then both breakfasts arrived with beans we said we had asked with one without at which point I was asked if I was allergic which I'm not I just hate them. He then returned breakfast on a different plate without beans however you could see the other stuff had just been moved onto the clean plate as when I lifted the egg and bacon I still found some beans under there. Will not be returning"

"Always a lovely welcome. Great menu. Husband and daughter are coeliac and the cafe take this seriously. Really good amount in the menu can be adapted to be gluten free, French toast, breakfasts etc. Gluten free scones are lovely. All brownies are g f, good...selection of g f cakes as well. Shame on the full English that the sausages aren’t gluten free as they’re widely available, that’s the only slight negative. We were a family of 4, 2 young children. Thoroughly recommend."

"Great experience here! Arrived with a group of 7 with no issues on Monday. Super friendly owner and staff members with a very positive atmosphere and comfortable clean restaurant. Food was brilliant with fantastic service. COVID-19 safety precautions were very clear and well laid out. Highly recommend if you’re in the area :"

"This hidden gem deserves more than 5 stars. We stumbled upon this tearoom turned restaurant after a day of seal-watching and were pleasantly surprised by the amazing decor reminiscent of a 1944 wartime bunker. We decided to have an early dinner and were blown away by the best mixed grill I've ever had, made with locally sourced products, including meat from the farm behind the restaurant. My wife loved her toad in the hole, and we left extremely full. Though we didn't have time for dessert, we couldn't resist taking some of the tempting cakes home. The coffee walnut cake was the best I've ever had. The staff were friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. The only downside is that we live 200 miles away, so it's a bit far for us to visit regularly. Thank you, Rich and Nikki!"

"We were visiting Cromer for the day and liked the look of The Art House Cafe so went in for lunch. We had Prawn Brioche and Smoked Salmon Bagel which were tasty and have no complaints. Coffee was good and overall we were happy with the offering. In other circumstances I would have been happy to have awarded 4 or even 5 stars but the way I saw some potential customers being treated means I couldn’t as it seems that parties of more than 4 won’t be accommodated at the same table here. A group of 5 came in while we were there and were told that they weren’t allowed to put an extra chair on the end of a table for 4. Presuming that it was because it would cause an obstruction at that particular table we offered to swop tables but were told that it wasn’t permitted to move any chairs or tables as that would disrupt the staff’s way of working!! So a group of 5 who would have spent a substantial amount of money went out the door to another establishment. At a time when we are told how tough times are for the hospitality sector it seems strange to turn away trade as it may slightly inconvenience staff. I must add that, to her credit, the girl behind the counter apologised if I thought her rude in the way she refused my offer of moving tables. We noted that at no point during our time there did staff pass where the extra chair would have been but when 3 women came in with 2 very large dogs who spread themselves across the floor, the staff had to take detours to avoid standing on the dogs. Looks like they are happier to accommodate dogs than paying customers."

"This was our first visit to the pub and we were very impressed with the Sunday carvery. It was £9 and there was an excellent selection of vegetables. The roast potatoes, puddings and stuffing balls were all delicious, definitely the best part. The food was all very fresh and the staff were welcoming/friendly. My only criticism would be that the carvery set up is a little bit awkward; there's not a lot of room to move and it's set up very close to the doorway of the kitchen which means it's really difficult with people constantly wanting to pass by. Also there are only 2 meats on the carvery and I feel it would be better if there was a choice of 3, or if there are going to be only 2, then I think they should have a red meat option beef, pork or gammon) and a white meat option chicken or turkey) rather than 2 red meat options. Also there is no hot water in the toilets but there is a cold water. All in all this was a very good experience and we enjoyed our visit. Will hopefully visit again in the future!"

"Upon our arrival in Holt for the first time, we took a chance on a lunch spot and were pleasantly surprised. Despite arriving towards the end of the lunch rush, we were not rushed and appreciated the opportunity to warm up. The cafe had a steady flow of customers ordering coffee, indicating a loyal customer base. The menu offered a variety of British cafe classics and hearty pub-style dishes. My wife enjoyed the cottage pie with peas, chips, and gravy, while I chose the Steak Kidney pudding with mash and gravy. Both meals were generously portioned and tasted homemade. In light of some negative reviews, we felt compelled to share our positive experience. Thank you."
"We can unreservedly recommend this place. On a Monday lunchtime, on our last day on a break in Norfolk, our two planned hostelries failed to deliver. On our way back to North Walsham, hungry and getting late and puppy in tow, we found The White Horse on Google Maps. And how lucky we were. Everything about this place was great: staff welcome and service, prompt, delicious and well-priced food, facilities and surroundings. Thank you to all staff concerned, and when we are next in the area we shall plan a day around eating with you!"

"I recently dined at this restaurant with some friends for the first time. While my friends were not impressed, I found the food to be enjoyable for a pub in a Norfolk village. The dishes were hot and tasty, and the atmosphere, although a bit dull, was decent. We felt a bit uncomfortable as we seemed to be attracting unwanted attention from a few regulars, possibly due to my friends being a bit loud. I would consider dining here again, or maybe just grabbing a drink, but perhaps without my friends in tow. The bartender mentioned that a major renovation is in the works, so it will be interesting to see the changes. The restroom was well-stocked for customers, which I appreciated. Ample parking is available on site. While it is not a fancy establishment, rather a local pub, I would rate it as good, falling somewhere between average and very good."

"she quay, especially it was a nice curse. alexandra sends us all the necessary instructions to get to the building where clear and easy to read. at the arrival was the place immaculate, warm and relaxing. we found our way into our room that was so spacious with beautiful massive windows filled with natural light. the room itself had a nice comfortable king bed. the bathroom was my favorite big shower, clean and tidy and also has a de-misting mirror that was handy. we had a great sleep and then went down to the breakfast. alexandra was down to make sure that all the guests, where happy they made us a coffee and told us to help us get to breakfast. there was a huge series of tasty and various dinge -10 different types of chalk croissants, pancakes, crumbs, bagels, literally so many options -fruits and yogurt -night hafer -hams and bee the breakfast itself was simply great, so many options could not be omitted! alexandra was a great, so friendly and attentive. we will definitely come back in summer"
