North Norfolk is famed for its stunning coastline, charming villages, and seafood, particularly Cromer crabs, often enjoyed in local eateries or on the scenic beaches.

"A feel good friendly place to eat. My wife and I visited for a coffee and decided to have something to eat. My wife chose crab sandwiches which are caught locally and I decided on a cheese and ham panini as I'm not a fan of crab. My wife offered me a bite of her sandwich and wow I'm a convert of Cromer crab sandwiches. They were amazing and had so much flavour. The owner came out and asked if all was ok. My wife explained that I wasn't a fan of crab until I had a bite of her sandwich. I explained that my experience of crab was as crab sticks when she informed me that actually there is no crab in crab sticks. We will be returning in the next couple of days and I will definitely be having the crab sandwiches. I should say that they do breakfast and many other meals. Well worth a visit and so helpful. Thank you."

"Had lunch here yesterday with my wife and daughter. We had a litle wait to be served, but it was really busy. We were made very welcome and we were promptly served with our drinks. The food when it came was on piping hot plates and it was freshly cooked. The daughter and I had the all day breakfast. The sausages were made at the local butchers and the bacon was lean and very nice. The beans were quality beans not the bulk buy catering ones. There was lashings of toast from locally produced loaves with a plentiful supply of butter. All in all very good. My wife had the chicken and leek pudding. Nice suet pastry with plenty of filling and steaming hot chips. All very good value for money. The waitress was extremely pleasant and helpfull and the chef was very chatty as well."

"We went for my mum’s birthday meal. The choice of food was excellent. We choose a prawn and avocado salad. It was delicious and exceeded our expectations. Everything was in separate containers so you could customise your salad. It was so fresh, the coleslaw was very tasty. And to add to our wonderful experience the manager sang happy birthday to my mum with some awesome lemon and ginger cake. I can’t recommend them highly enough and I can’t wait to go back! Fantastic find."

"First time visit and it was well worth it... even sitting outside in a chilly 'off the sea ' wind! They do have blankets ......Staff are really welcoming although they were really busy and what a good idea, to have a sign with wait time for food. They have a good menu looking to be all freshly made. I had a delicious crab sandwich and my husband, a scone with jam and cream, with a piece of cake to eat later. If we are in Sheringham again, we will definitely be back....."

"We just ordered a take out. The pumpkin carrot cake was possibly one of the best cakes I’ve ever eaten and certainly was the best carrot cake. The soya latte was also good. Discount if you take your own container. Lots of vegan cakes available including- fruit scones, jammy dodgers, tea cakes, walnut blondes, chocolate chunk brownies and black cherry and vanilla sponge. There was also a sage, onion and chutney vegan roll. The staff were lovely and made a big fuss over our dog and gave her a dog biscuit too. I didn’t look at the rest of the menu so can’t comment on other options. But after a few days in not particularly vegan friendly north Norfolk, Cromer was definitely a much more vegan friendly place!"

"This hidden gem deserves more than 5 stars. We stumbled upon this tearoom turned restaurant after a day of seal-watching and were pleasantly surprised by the amazing decor reminiscent of a 1944 wartime bunker. We decided to have an early dinner and were blown away by the best mixed grill I've ever had, made with locally sourced products, including meat from the farm behind the restaurant. My wife loved her toad in the hole, and we left extremely full. Though we didn't have time for dessert, we couldn't resist taking some of the tempting cakes home. The coffee walnut cake was the best I've ever had. The staff were friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. The only downside is that we live 200 miles away, so it's a bit far for us to visit regularly. Thank you, Rich and Nikki!"

"Upon our arrival in Holt for the first time, we took a chance on a lunch spot and were pleasantly surprised. Despite arriving towards the end of the lunch rush, we were not rushed and appreciated the opportunity to warm up. The cafe had a steady flow of customers ordering coffee, indicating a loyal customer base. The menu offered a variety of British cafe classics and hearty pub-style dishes. My wife enjoyed the cottage pie with peas, chips, and gravy, while I chose the Steak Kidney pudding with mash and gravy. Both meals were generously portioned and tasted homemade. In light of some negative reviews, we felt compelled to share our positive experience. Thank you."

"We are absolutely disgusted with the service, had read the good reviews so got there early and what I assume was the landlady gave a friendly welcome. We placed our food order and we commented that we had timed our arrival well since a large party then arrived along with other couples all ordering food, after a while the adjacent table to our was served with fish and chips we assumed we would be next despite other tables ordering after us being served, after virtually an hour waiting my wife went to the bar to enquire as to our food not arriving only to be told the printer had run out of paper and the order had not gone through but was offered to put it though again, bearing in mind we were now behind about a dozen orders so my wife refused this and we left. The most annoying factor was the land lady had seen we had no food despite taking the order herself yet when we complained at the bar she did not even acknowledge us or check what the problem was. She continued to sit at a table near us writing out the specials on a notice board. No offer of complimentary drinks absolutely nothing so we went to the Greyhound at Hickling and had great service and an excellent meal."

"We can unreservedly recommend this place. On a Monday lunchtime, on our last day on a break in Norfolk, our two planned hostelries failed to deliver. On our way back to North Walsham, hungry and getting late and puppy in tow, we found The White Horse on Google Maps. And how lucky we were. Everything about this place was great: staff welcome and service, prompt, delicious and well-priced food, facilities and surroundings. Thank you to all staff concerned, and when we are next in the area we shall plan a day around eating with you!"

"We had hired a boat on the Broads for a few days and having passed it earlier in the day, we had decided to moor up at The Ferry Inn for the night and have a meal. The mooring fee is £20 for the night but if you are having a meal, this is then discounted off the price of your food so is essentially free. The staff were friendly and helpful and quick to point out the discount paying for the mooring gave to the food. They have a good selection of drinks to suit every palette. I went for the dark fruit cider (I can't remember if it was blackberry or blackcurrant) and her indoors went for rhubarb and ginger gin and tonic. I went for the mixed grill and my other half went for the Lasagne. We didn't have long to wait for the food to arrive. They were decent sized portions, well presented and extremely tasty. Rather than simply tell you how we would happily go again, we were so impressed that we actually went back the following night. One final plus is the friendly local wildlife. First you have the sound of the Bitterns booming away, then you have the friendly Swan that joins you for breakfast. The icing on the cake is the heron that struts up and down outside the pub and even enjoys hopping onto the odd boat or two for selfies."

"she quay, especially it was a nice curse. alexandra sends us all the necessary instructions to get to the building where clear and easy to read. at the arrival was the place immaculate, warm and relaxing. we found our way into our room that was so spacious with beautiful massive windows filled with natural light. the room itself had a nice comfortable king bed. the bathroom was my favorite big shower, clean and tidy and also has a de-misting mirror that was handy. we had a great sleep and then went down to the breakfast. alexandra was down to make sure that all the guests, where happy they made us a coffee and told us to help us get to breakfast. there was a huge series of tasty and various dinge -10 different types of chalk croissants, pancakes, crumbs, bagels, literally so many options -fruits and yogurt -night hafer -hams and bee the breakfast itself was simply great, so many options could not be omitted! alexandra was a great, so friendly and attentive. we will definitely come back in summer"

"Eaten here before, quite nice. Visited last weekend as my Wife really wanted a cream tea as advertised on the outside. This local place was our choice, as both this, and the chain next door offered cream teas. Told need 24hrs notice for a cream tea???? WTF???? This is passing trade? And what takes the P is what actually takes 24 hours? The Tea? no. The Scones? No, The cake? No, The sausage roll? No. had all of these on the counter...so has to be making a sandwich... your kidding right? You sell rolls and sandwiches... So you want 24 hours notice for sandwiches to be made in the morning and go stale on the side instead of making them fresh. Really quite disappointed. my wife just had the scone and tea."

"Five stars for food, service and atmosphere, our favourite fish chips from frying experts in immaculate state of the art kitchen. We drive over 15 miles round trip past 3 more local chippies to buy these delicious treats. Why just one star? Well I’ve discovered I can no longer order in advance without paying first via a card. Even phoned this evening to ask why and was told it was because people order then don’t show. That’s a problem for me because I’m a regular, I’m being put in the same category as the dishonest and I don’t use credit cards. Besides, my order is always cooked on time but remains on the warming section only being bagged on collection. You’re so busy if you have a no show someone else gets their supper early! So, my Friday night treat is accessible if I turn up and wait…and wait… but I no longer have the privilege of ordering my favourite dishes in advance, I’ll need to clog up the shop and delay the service not just for myself but for other customers by not being able to place an order. It’s turned a win win into a loss. Wouldn’t go to a restaurant a pay in advance or be forced to use a credit card so why in an chippy? Unfortunately I’ll have to vote with my feet."
"Absolutely amazing service and delicious home made food. We visited during a rainy Saturday afternoon and Mel Morrin were so welcoming and it was a warm and really comfortable and stylish cafe. Well Spaced and safe. the coffee @Giveitsomebeans ‘Henrys Blend’ was a smooth, rich roast with a beautiful aroma. Really a must try for coffee lovers. The carrot cake, made by Mel, was the best I had ever tasted, and my partners tea cake, he shared was scrumptious. We checked out the menu and are definately coming back for the “Big Henry” Breakfast for him, and I really want to try one of the vege or vegan options. Can’t wait and planning next visit already. I highly recommend a visit and say hi to the team from us"

"We had to cancel a dinner reservation at a local restaurant on the first night of our break in Norfolk due to circumstances beyond our control. Albert’s was just over the road from where we were staying so was wonderfully convenient. Due to COVID-related restrictions,..."
"Went for evening meal on curry night. But full menu was still available. Went for the curry but a bit disappointed to find that by 7pm one of the three curries was sold out. So left with one meat and one veggie choice. But that aside it was a great experience. Curries were very tasty. Staff really helpful. It still retains the feel of a proper country pub. Many pubs in the area have gone all out on ‘gastro’ and so not a place to go for a drink any more. Was there midweek in November but pretty busy. Overall had a nice feel. Would definitely add to pubs to go to when in the area"

"We found this little gem a few years ago when we visited Cromer, and always make a beeline for it whenever we return. It’s a very popular place, so can get a bit busy and you may need to wait for a while, but it doesn’t matter; it’s worth the wait! The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the food was up to the usual high standard. You must have the crab! And on this occasion, we all revelled in England’s Women’s World Cup semi-final win! Can’t wait to go back again!"

"I really didn’t want to leave such an excellent review, selfishly I want to keep this little place to myself. But seen as I don’t live in Cromer and only visit once a year that would be very selfish of me. If you are hungry and want some incredibly delicious home cooked food, this is the place for you. Portion sizes are huge, all meals ordered we’re very tasty and the level of service was 5 star. Well done Breakers Cafe. We will definitely be returning!!"

"We had takeaway f&c. Portion sizes generous for chips but a bit meagre for fish. Medium fish was more what we’d have expected as small. Chips had nice flavour and fish seemed fresh. Efficient service for our largish order (7 portions) and friendly staff. Got a parking space right outside but supermarket across the road would have been fine as an alternative."
"This is our 13th year coming to holt for new year and have visited feathers every year. Some years even going to the New Year’s Eve party. Since this fine pub has been taken over we have seen numerous changes that haven’t been for the better but have just let them go. However upon visiting this year with the family for a meal, I just had to leave a review about my utter distaste for out and out profiteering. There were 5 adults and 3 kids all having meals and drinks. No starters just mains and we had four deserts. We had a few drinks of which the prices are rather high for a village pub. The meals were ok but as other people have stated in reviews pretty basic for the price. When the bill came it was in excess of £330, which I was shocked at but not overly, but upon review I’d noticed they had charged £2.40 for a cordial with tap water! I thought this was wrong so questioned the waiter. He then got the manager who in turn stated this in fact was correct and couldn’t do anything about it! Why didn’t she just knock it off the bill as a good will gesture as surely she could see how wrong this was and how much we were paying.I’m sorry feathers management but the charge for the cordial is totally immoral and a complete rip off! You’re charging £2.40 for one measure of cordial which is more than the actual value of a bottle. This whole event was a shame and should have been sorted by an efficient manager but it wasn’t and has left a massive distaste in our mouth."
