"Me and my husband are regular customers of Leger Lakes and feel so lucky that it is on our doorstep. We recommend this place unreservedly. Nestled on the outskirts of the lovely village of Laughton-en-le-Morthen, which lies between Thurcroft and Dinnington in South Yorkshire, Leger Lakes is an absolute must for anyone who enjoys top class food, served by friendly, professional staff, in a wonderful location. Catering for all tastes and diets this establishment takes pride in its fresh, varied and creative menu. From amazing cakes and pastries, wholesome breakfasts, afternoon teas, Sunday lunches and now special themed nights, the variety is endless. Nothing is too much trouble for Jayne and her staff. During the present Covid-19 restrictions, every care is being taken to follow the strict guidelines and the latest outside installation (see photos), enables friends and family to meet up and eat together in style and comfort. Leger Lakes also has fishing lakes for the anglers amongst us, which have pods for overnight fishing and with the eatery just a walk away, food can be delivered to the pods. See Leger Lakes own Facebook pages for more information on the tearoom and fishing (Leger Lakes Tearoom) and (Leger Lakes). Leger Lakes Tearoom is dog friendly and with miles of beautiful countryside, loads of public footpaths and a place frequented by keen cyclists, is a paradise for getting close to nature and exercise during these troubled times. The walk down to Roach Abbey, through the magnificent Kings Wood is an absolute delight and the thought of a gem of a tearoom either before, after or at both ends of the walk is a big bonus. The site has horses, donkeys and various other animals within its grounds and this just adds to the unique ambiance of the whole experience. A large car park makes it easy for those not on foot and it is easy to access on the road between Laughton-en-le-Morthen and Firbeck."

"After adding a five star review a few weeks ago, we decided to visit the Homestead again for Father’s Day but the experience was very different this time. Despite being booked in and arriving on time, we were told that there was a one hour wait for food after ordering. Disappointing that the planning hadn’t taken into consideration that those clients booking a specific time were being treated as walk-ins. Anyway we accepted the wait and ordered. One of our party who had travelled from Barnsley wanted the Mac and cheese as she really enjoyed it last time. It wasn’t available. Disappointing, but she made do with a burger which was ok. I ordered the halloumi wrap which I too had enjoyed last time. Everyone was served their meals except me. When they came over to enquire if all was ok, I pointed out that my meal was missing. It came a few minutes later but I wish I hadn’t bothered. The wrap was solid, didn’t even meet never mind wrap, was more like an open sandwich, was rock solid like a piece of plywood and the halloumi was cold. I gave feedback and the waitress thanked me for letting her know but there was no follow up. As it was Father’s Day, I didn’t make an issue of it to spoil the family gathering. I have to say that everyone else was happy with their meals. On to dessert. Our granddaughter had the pink doughnut but sadly we had to send it back as we couldn’t let her eat it as it was still frozen solid. My Cadbury chocolate Sundae was just chocolate floating in cold milk as the ice cream was totally melted by the time it came to me. After our enjoyable visit recently my Father’s Day visit was a huge disappointment as both my courses weren’t up to par, plus the waiting, unavailability of the Mac and cheese and the frozen doughnut. I left praise when the visit was good so it’s fair to point out the shortcomings of this visit too."
