"We went here on a whim for our anniversary afternoon tea as we had heard good things about it. As we walked in I was instantly hit with the vibe. And what a vibe it is. Very cottage like and warm. Very farmer esc is the best way I can describe it with beautiful and nostalgic furnishings throughout, pictures of local wildlife and the history of the place really pull you in straight away. We were greeted by a lovely lady called Zoey and she was instantly helpful and you could tell she wanted us to have the best experience. We sat in the cubby area which was a bit more secluded and lovely and warm. The food itself was incredible. I make a point of trying afternoon teas as I love them and I promise this one is brilliant. You get a selection of sandwiches, home made (huge) sausage roll section and pork, chicken pie. Along with this you get a selection of cakes and possibly the nicest scones I've ever eaten. Plenty of tea aswell. Whilst I was there I took a look at the toilets, nothing to special and a bit outdated now but did the trick I couldn't see and wheelchair access but on this occasion I didn't look around the whole place, they may have some around the side but don't quote me there. Parking is attached for punters aswell as some over the road, not loads so be wary of you come at a busier time. Service was brilliant, Zoey truly is a gem, she really put alot of effort into providing the best experience and was happy and bubbly throughout, truly made us feel welcome. Really easy to book aswell on their website and they are active on social media if you have questions The price for the two afternoon teas with tea came to £43 so not too bad for what we got Overall we had the best time here and will be returning/telling people about it 5/5 Vegetarian options: Yes plenty of veggie options Parking: Car park attached not the biggest but free also parking opposite the pub unsure if that is free or not though"

"Not a great experience. Booked a table for 9. Got asked to wait by the bar on arrival as the table wasn't ready even though we arrived on time. Was stood by the bar and the staff made us feel as though we were just stood in the way. Got seated after around 15-20 minutes waiting. After finally getting sat down the server seemed very flustered but took out drinks order. Returned promptly with the drinks and rushed for a food order even though we had only had the menu all of 5 minutes. Made our orders and then it took around 45 minutes to arrive. No body asked if we needed more drinks in that time, we ended up asking someone for more drinks in the end. When the appetisers did arrive they missed one of the guests and didn't bring out any serving plates for the sharing meals. When we managed to get someone's attention they didn't seem in a rush to bring out the missed appetiser or plates so the other guests food was just warm by the time we started eating together. Next they started to bring out the mains before even clearing the table from the appetisers so we ended up having to clear the table ourselves to one end so that the guy had room to put the mains down. Even then they didn't take everything away and we were sat with plates from the appetisers throughout our main course. At no point were we asked if we wanted anymore drinks and had to try and attract someone's attention every time. They couldn't use a shortage of staff as an issue because we saw enough stood about chatting to each other and I watched one guy actually manage to clean an empty table 3 times trying to avoid having to do any proper work. That place really needs someone in there taking charge so that everyone knows what to do. On a positive though, the food was nice, even though it wasn't as warm as it should have been from all the waiting about. There was 1 very friendly lady there too. This was for a birthday and we go to different TGI's for all our family birthdays, but unfortunately will be very reluctant to use this one again, which is a shame as it's one of our closest. It was a party of 9 adults and children, which I wouldn't have thought too difficult? We had one at the Birstall TGI less than a month previous with a party of 26 and that was perfect, without one mistake (which we would have expected with a party that size). It's a shame the Sheffield experience wasn't the same. The meal total was just under £300"

"My friends were coming to visit and although I live locally, we decided to book rooms for 2 nightS at the Rock as we knew we’d be spending most of our time in Wentworth. A week before arrival I received a phone call to say one of the rooms wouldn’t be available for both nights and an alternative could only be provided for one night. Although this was frustrating and would require lots of changes to our plans, I understood the reasonings for the change and there was nothing the staff could do at that time. I spoke to Jordan a few times over the course of the week and each time he was apologetic and really nice. Jordan checked me in and acknowledged straight away the issue with the room and promised he’d let me know if there were any cancellations for the following night so that I could stay there. During the time waiting for my friends to arrive all staff in the pub were extremely friendly to everyone and kept it clean. Luckily for us they did receive some cancellations so I was able to book a room for the following night as well and Jordan kindly honoured the price I had originally booked (as the price was now double what I had paid). He also offered a new, more suitable room for my friends and did it all with a smile. We could not fault the rooms, showers were powerful with plenty of hot water and the beds were very comfortable. All in all we had a lovely weekend in Wentworth and had all the staff not been as lovely and as helpful as they were, it probably would have been a lot more stressful! Thanks again to all staff, especially Jorden for his help with rooms. We will all be back after the refurb!"

"23 of us were booked on a Sunday afternoon for my Grandmother 's 80th birthday of whom 5 were under the age of ten. We had to cancel one place due to illness but despite calling in advance there remained 23 place settings so one had to be removed whilst we were seated. When taking orders we asked for smaller portions for some of the children (at no point did we expect to pay any less but over facing them means they don 't eat) to be told in no uncertain terms it comes as it is just take stuff off when it gets here . No problem we can cope with making changes whilst our food gets cold. Then the dishes came: The starter I had was allegedly field mushrooms but tasted like button mushrooms in a tin of heinz mushroom soup. The prawn salad my grandmother had was a very small portion of North Atlantic Prawns with mayo and tomato ketchup dolloped on and served with a lettuce leaf. Main course was mostly roast dinner style as it was Sunday but the beef I had was so tough and well done I could have used it to resole my shoes. Roast potatoes were undercooked and vegetables tasted like they had been put on to boil for at least a month. Pretty much all of us said how disappointing it was. By dessert our expectations were low but even so the Carlton Park fell well short, my favourite comment was that the Sticky Toffee Pudding was not sticky, didn 't taste of toffee and whilst it did have a spongy texture it was more washing up sponge than cake sponge apparently the chocolate cake tasted like brown cream . Dreadful experience the service staff be truly ashamed and the kitchen team even more so."

"wow, what a place! just before some weeks were first impressions of the place great, the caffe smells delicious as soon as they go in and the decor is beautiful as being on a tropical island. because it was...unny outside it was nice to come into a shadow and the place was nice and cool. had the double decker pipe that was sooo good! nice and chilled with a really creamy moussey texture, not to chocolate, as diseased, absolutely massive disc. and a soy latte, which was so creamy, no need sugar. the worker who served me was absolutely beautiful, could not do enough for me, so polite and friendly and extremely courteous for vegans, brought me over a vegan menu to check for the next time and me about everything they offer. Finally, I couldn't believe how cheap it was. a five for a huge piece of homemade vegan cake / cheesecake and a latte. have found my new favorite Hunt in rotherham and cannot wait to go back! so excited that we are this place and grateful for their efforts in creating beautiful vegan foods. the love for detail in this place is incredible, so many beautiful little touches that they feel as if they were in the outland in a hot land that goes out from the sun for a sunset and a cool descent. the coffee is delicious, service is not one, very affordable and beautiful desserts, I was a handful of times since my first visit alone, as part of a couple and friends and everyone was impressed."

"We are a family of four who wanted a meal out together. We came into the pub around 6:00pm to be greeted by a bingo game and quiz that made the place feel like an old people 's home. The quiz host was trying his best to create atmosphere but fell way short with sexist statements about birds of the feathered variety and asking people to shout house in their best Irish accent! Sexism and racism that would be better suited to the 1970 and should be have been left there. The meals came and three of the four were burnt. 2 burgers that were barely recognisable, burger buns black on the inside and a mixed grill with every meat component massively over cooked and the egg was so over done it could be snapped in half. The meals were replaced with an apology and an offer of a round of drinks. As we had just ordered more drinks we declined them and awaited our food. When the second set of meals arrived, two of the three were OK but the mixed grill still had an issue with the steak, this time it was ****** and under cooked. My wife went to complain again to the person who served us who in turn referred her to the manager who was sat at a table with his family. My wife said we had already sent the meals back once but the steak on this was rare. The manager argued that it was medium rare. (no argument really since that 's still not what we asked for At this point the Manager said he was on his day off and didn 't know why we were having a go at him . The fact was we had complained to someone in charge and was passed to him, we didn 't know he wasn 't on duty. The manager was unbending and refused to admit they were at all at fault. He just repeated Why are you in my face . He could see that we were clearly upset by the situation but offered no way to de-ecallate, in fact when we asked to go above him and talk to his boss, we were told that all complaints come to him first so it won 't go anywhere anyway. (apparently he will get in front of it with his boss and smooth things over, only adding to our frustration. We got our coats and left. On the way out he muttered have a nice evening , clearly a sarcastic provocation which in this day and age of customer service was totally transparent and unnecessary but caused an outburst from my wife which is totally out of character. We have been customers of the woodman since it opened and have had the odd bad experience but never as bad as this. I have never seen a manager argue the toss over a steak being Medium rare not rare, the fact is it wasn 't what we asked for and just wanted recompense for the poor quality of service. There has been a steady decline in food standards over recent months but this evening 's meal was appalling. If you are looking for a low rent atmosphere then you have hit the mark. It 's certainly not we have come to expect from this place or Marston but it 's where we are."
