"Like most things my host Arnaud at Tartasenia got this recommendation right. The menu was small - which is good - but diverse - which is also good. Inventive and clever food ideas. I started with a foccacia and charcuterie type thing with an interesting pesto accompaniment and shared this with my friend who shared her cerviche of trout with me. Both were very good but my foccacia starter was preferred by myself. My main was a lovely piece of beef steak cooked 'cuban' style. It came with sweet potato fries and a spicy bean ragout thing. For me the beef was cooked perfectly. When I ask for rare I rarely get it rare. This was rare. One of the obvious first signs of whether a chef knows what he's doing is how well he can perform simple tasks like cooking a steak properly. He ticked that box. For my friend it was a little too rare so he, without complaint or offence, stuck back on the heat for a bit. Ticked that box too. The 2nd sign of a good chef in my book is if he looks like he eats well of his own food. Chef ticked that box too. Very good chef and a top bloke. The millefois desert was excellent too. The local wine was good. We ordered the more expensive bottle first. When we finished that we asked the lady serving us (the co-owner too I guess) about the cheaper variety of the local wine. She said it was practically as good. Telling. Service before profit is to be highly praised - and it will ensure repeat business so is a smart thing too. The service itself was brilliant. At 26 Euro for three courses this was excellent value. I rarely give 5 stars but this place deserves it. The cherry on the cake was sitting with the staff after service and after the rest of my party had left sipping a Ricard and chatting. When I asked to pay for the Ricard those sweet words 'no charge' came back and graced my ears. Brilliant. Probably the best restaurant in town."

"Copious pancakes and fortunately that the waitress had a smile because when we came back we felt like disturbing the boss! She did the job and was adorable. Crêpes are sometimes curious with curry and rice but all tastes are in nature! The classic was very good."

"The kitchen is honorable and prices are correct On the other hand we were badly placed in front of the door goes and comes with the waitresses who pass and iron... this table, in my opinion, is too much in the room because not pleasant. "very fast service, not the choice surely because the waiting list is long ( the resto is complete at 12:30 and an Indian line of customers who wait their turn at the entrance of the restaurant, for a little we could not have gotten out of it) but however nice and polite waiter...Repas correct , good ratio quality price ! pay attention, however, check your addition because an error has slipped into ours and we were too far to make a claim!!!! rage!"

"for our last day at Saint jean foot of Port on June 30, my wife and I had decided to offer us in small restaurant. unlike what philippe d and martinela 33 say in his commentary, we were served quickly. arrived at noon, we were served around 12:20 after taking an aperitif. our respective meals (to 11 and 13 euros) have much more. service was effective."

"What to say... We spent an incredible moment with the Kawa team (thank you for the omelette! . In the heart of the Basque country we met with adorable, welcoming and benevolent people. The terraces at the back of the bar are very pleasant. The dishes made of local products are excellent and what to say of rum Bidaia! A must-see address in Saint Jean Pied de Port. "We went to dinner at 8:30 p.m. and they told us that they wouldn't serve us without a reservation. We ordered some beers to drink on the terrace (there were more people drinking and ordering on the terrace at that time) and they told us to wait outside for the waiter to come out. Nobody ever came out. They continued serving new people who were arriving inside. Service: 1"

"a little outside of the old town, this little restaurant without pretention is worth a visit. the bosses are very nice, the all-new room is welcoming, with a small terrace quiet on the countryside, board games and bd available and a beautiful brand new billiard! hamburgers can be eaten there (I don't like it usually, I was conquered by this house kitchen with fresh, even organic products ) . we also find salads, bruchettas, ... and fries are home ! homemade desserts are also excellent ( ah the raspberry pie white chocolate ! ) prices are quite reasonable. Quickly run. you can even eat vegetarian or vegan."
