"I’ve always wanted to try here. Living local surprisingly we haven’t. My parents have though and they enjoyed their 1st visit Unlike this time. We’re a family of 5 my daughter registered disabled we parked in the designated disabled bays. Although wasn’t necessary we displayed a blue badge. Walked inside to be what can only be described as targeted by the lady(manager) who was running the place, telling us we can’t park in the disabled spot we had because it’s for disabled customers. Not politely came over and asked if we should be parked here, the restaurant had a fair few customers in. And all looked over towards us. My daughter felt humiliated. I said for her to just come along over to the table we had reserved. This shouldn’t be happening. We are now in 2023. And discrimination unfortunately is as ever still happening. We were served by a young lad who was kind enough. Although we felt by this point everyone had their opinion of us. The food was served by the lady in question. She had no manners and didn’t seem She was happy to serve us! Once we’d had desserts we paid. And left saying bye but still again nothing! We have eaten much better from the takeaway over the road. They are second to none. And very friendly unlike walkers. So we won’t be visiting walkers anymore. Unfriendly uninviting and rude. Customer care skills greatly need polishing up on!"

"Honestly a very mixed one for this place I’ve had afternoon tea here earlier in the year it was great, service a bit slow but over all great. However, recently we went for lunch and what a shambles! Firstly sat on a dirty table that was then cleaned while we sat at it, had to wait 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Tea for 2 the cups and spoons were filthy we had to ask for more then had to wait a further 10 minutes to find someone to ask for sugar the glass for a coke was covered in Greasy finger marks. The food came pretty quick probably because non of it was cooked) fish and chips was the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had chips were freezing and still had a thick layer of fat on them from where they’ve been blanched then put in the fridge and not cooked properly and for long enough afterwards, the fish was off it tasted so strong it was inedible, mushy peas freezing so over all that meal wasn’t eaten the ploughman’s well that was very average when it says rare beef it’s raw not rare, had much better elsewhere. Made the waitress aware of all the above issues and wasn’t interested just said ohh I’ll talk to the chef never tried to rectify any of it. Then to top it off getting asked to move half way through eating for a workman to get to plug to test it just took the biscuit I understand these things need to be done but come on you get them done when you’re closed not open with guests in. Over all a terrible experience and really below expectations for the sort of pace they try claim to be."

"We stayed here for one night as my Husband and Daughter were going to the Blondie Gig at the Open Air Theatre. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and could go straight to our room, it was about 12:30 ish, so we were lucky. The room was actually like a little suite with 2 separate bedrooms, both were spacious, the bathroom is very small, but overall the rooms had everything we needed and were spotlessly clean, and the colour scheme is neutral, if not a little dated. The best thing was the view, as the hotel is higher up on the Esplanade we had an amazing view of the whole South Bay, and we loved looking out at it through the tall windows… Outside the the hotel is in a lovely area and it felt safe to walk around as so many people were sat admiring the view on the many benches, it’s very close to the Spa, and some lovely gardens, it is up a hill, so possibly if you have mobility issues it could be a problem, but there is the Furnicular further along near the main beach, and a lift (I think) near the Spa, so as long as you know where they are, it makes it easier. We had a drink in the hotel garden, it again has a lovely view and the prices were very reasonable. In the evening whilst I was on my own, I sat in the hotel bar watching my iPad, and had a drink, the bar was very busy as it was quiz night, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and it was a really good atmosphere, during the quiz break they served curry and pizzas, a really nice touch, I had a good night. The breakfast the following morning was served in the ground floor breakfast room, again the staff were very friendly, the breakfast was cooked to order, and there was a choice of tea, coffee, juices, cereals, toast, yoghurt and a fresh fruit salad (with real chopped fruit) which was very nice! Overall we had the perfect stay, don’t let the thought that the rooms seem dated put you off, this hotel is spotless, the staff are friendly, the service is good, it’s in a perfect location that’s all that matters, also the hotel is in the process of being renovated, so the rooms will improve, we would definitely return…"
