"We live just down the road from Axbridge and popped in for dinner as we had heard good things about this place. The first thing that is difficult is parking! There are restrictions everywhere for 24 hours a day as far as we could tell. Of course, that is not the fault of the restaurant but it does contribute to one 's enjoyment of an evening.Anyway, the restaurant and bar area are very nicely decorated, warm and welcoming. we were greeted by a very pleasant young lady and had a drink at the bar first. very chatty and friendly woman behind the bar too.On being seated at the restaurant, we had a tasty amuse bouche and drinks (decent wine list .The menu is good. There were at least three things on there that I could have ordered on the spot! Traditional British style choices, very nice. However, I could not justify paying £30 for an 8oz fillet of beef with some sauce!!I had the pigeon starter, which was very nicely cooked, pink all the way through and tender as well (water bath, maybe? . However, when it arrived at the table it was all quite cold as if it had been sitting for a while before being brought out. My wife had the soup, which was home made and she said it was good.We both went for the pork belly main course, and both agreed that it was rather dry. There was nice crackling and all the potatoes and veg were nicely cooked, but the actual pork meat was not unctuous with reduced fat. All in all, good service, nice place but the kitchen was not on top form that night. We would give them another chance however, this meal was 'average ', not 'poor '."

"I did visit here based on the good reviews I had read. However, I was very disappointed by what I was offered the service. I was visiting the area on a trip to cheddar gorge popped in here to grab a quick fulfilling breakfast before heading off for a day of adventure. I was one of the first into the restaurant and I greeted the waitress on shift but was not greeted with a particularly warm welcome. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast which was overpriced and greasy. Being the only place open for breakfast at that time, there is an opportunity to really own the space with no competition at that time, but I was left regretting my decision with x2 1 3rds of a pepper fried in oil, potatoes fried in oil, sausages, egg and mushrooms which I’m sure could (and probably were) all fried in one pan. I couldn’t finish it all because of the amount of grease I can’t say that I have experienced this, however I feel the feel, taste and presentation of the food was what I would expect if I was a trucker passing a rest stop and the food was more for convenience than passion for food. I had a glass of orange juice and an oat milk latte which was pleasant and tasted fresher than the rest of the breakfast. The toilet is a little strange too, being a male female baby changing which I can understand have no issue with. However, it was not well kept or finished and looked again like something you would find on a rest stop in America on a longer route highway where there is no competition and through necessity would be chosen to attend. It’s a shame, I would love to commend this place, but the only thing I can say is the coffee was nice the cakes looked tasty. But other than that, cheap food prepared with little care quality of presentation and very expensive for what you get. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for nice food, there are plenty of other places that open an hour later (which are worth it when combined with the quality of the food vs convenience)."

"Decided pretty much on the spur of the moment to have a meal here after the cinema. Greeted without a smile and directed to a table for 2 adjacent to the main door. Every time it opened an icy blast engulfed us. We asked if we could move to a different table no problem. I ordered a steak and was told the choice of ribeye was not available so decided to opt for rump. My wife opted for the chicken and peppers in white wine sauce with rice. The waiter returned 2 minutes later to say the rump wasn't available either so I decided to have the Calzone Pizza. The meals arrived but I could see on my wife's face that she wasn't happy. Tasting it you could tell that something (I suspect the chicken) had been so badly burned that the whole meal was so bitter as to be inedible. We asked for it to be exchanged for something edible a simple Magherita. As for the Calzone, there was nothing original about it the ingredients were supermarket ham and either tinned or preserved mushroom slices accompanied by a half pint of a red liquid which I presumed was some sort of sauce. Both the pizza and it's sauce had absolutely no taste whatsoever, the pizza base was undercooked in places and the whole thing was lukewarm. The only redeeming aspect of this meal was the young lady who could smile and was very apologetic about the chicken. Perhaps we ate on an off day but from this experience we won't be back!"

"On Holiday in Wedmore so decided to eat out at Table Eight. First impressions were great. Nice decor and everything looked clean and tidy. We were served promptly and the starters came in good time. We were asked if everything was okay and we started to tuck in. 15 seconds into the starters we were again asked if everything was okay, which we confirmed it was. I lost track of the amount of times we were asked if everything was okay throughout the entire meal. It’s very nice to check, but it became so frequent that it just constantly interrupted the meal having to pause our conversation and meal to say “very nice, thank you” every couple of minutes. After a while you start to think “why shouldn’t everything be okay?, are we missing something?”. The food itself was great and we really enjoyed it. We asked for the bill, confirmed everything was okay a few more times and paid using cash. The bill was reasonable (it’s bring your own wine so this obviously has an impact on the bill). We sat waiting for our change for quite some time and confirmed a few more times that the food was lovely while we waited… and waited. We always leave a tip, however the change we were waiting on was about a tenner and unfortunately were not in a position to be that flash. After waiting quite some time we had to awkwardly ask for our change. Eventually after the message being passed through just about everyone in the restaurant, we were presented with our change in coins in the palm of the waiters hand. Soooo awkward!!! Anyway, to summarise : Great food band a nice place. “Is everything okay” once per course would suffice and give customers their change back and let them decide if they want to leave a tip."
