"Went here for a birthday celebration. I have to say I am writing this review based on my 3 rd visit in the the past month. Food was lovely drinks quality was also great, the only thing I’d say lets this place down badly is the lack of staff. Never had any problems with the staff they were nice and polite and any requests were met, it is not here fault . I had to get up from my table about 5 times to go and find someone to ask for things like for example our wine had been brought to the table not opened and needed a cork screw . No glasses had been brought with it it had been out in the table and left. They had forgot one of our cocktails I had to go to the bar and remind them twice by time she got it we were finished . I could go on but I’m not going to bore you with little details of things you would expect as normal service from a place of this standard which they are clearly trying hard to maintain. The bar area outside was worse absolutely lovely place . But with every seat inside and outside taken, lots iff cocktails being ordered and only two staff on. the young guy looked like it was his first day. The service was terrible I had to clear our table 4 times with trays of empty glasses and coffee cups etc . It’s not the staff fault and I can’t complain about any of them, they were just run off their feet and clearly a major lack of them. It was the same the past two visits so this has not improved in the past month. We left and went somewhere else and that was not our original intention. So a bit disappointed ."

"Very busy. We'll organised getting people to tables but table cleaners wiped food spilled on table onto floor. Food came quickly. Mac n cheese. Very stodgy, tasted /looked like wallpaper paste. Pasta well overcooked. Years ago it was served in a dish with lots of sauce. Not now. I was embarrassed having family with me. We didn't stay for cake. If they can't get the main course right, they don't get my money for a sweet. The deluxe hot chocolate was amazing. At over £4 I'm glad. Had a walk round after lunch and was shocked at the prices. Very expensive!"

"Hadn 't been for years and had heard good things recently so popped over on a nice sunny day for my birthday lunch. We parked in the small car park behind and entered onto the outside decking, a really nice setting and only one occupied table. Inside was busy, we approached the bar and were asked if we 'd booked. The sole staff member then opened a diary and studied it carefully as if hunting for an opening as I looked at the three empty tables in the bar, thought of the several outside and wondered what lay through the other side. She eventually pointed to a two seater by the wall and said there 's one there. I have to add that in all the time we were there and the other tables emptied no one new arrived so not sure what the diary was telling her. We ordered drinks then waited quite a while for the food order to be taken. Again, I wasn 't really feeling the love from mein host, for her definition of a welcome I 'd refer you to Billy Connolly on Parkinson with Angie Dickinson. The menu had a large variety of pub classics, pizza, pasta and curries. Too much can sometimes be a worry and it proved the case. We both plumped for the sliders board, 3 small burgers with chilli cheese bites and fries. I went for the loaded fries at an extra cost. When the food arrived it did look promising but the proof is in the tasting. The southern fried chicken burger had been southern fried too long leaving a dry, tough piece of meat with a hard crumb, definitely not home made either. The beef burgers were also overdone no pink or soft middle with a nice charred outside, just dry overdone meat. All the buns were toasted just that wee bit too long too. Having paid £3 extra for the loaded fries I was disappointed to see I had half the amount of fries than my wife. It seems they 'd swapped half my chips for the topping. I 'd have settled for that for the same price. The chilli cheese bites were good although clearly out of a packet and the sweet chilli sauce was excellent and much needed to add some moisture to a very dry plate of food. We paid at the bar and once more not a smile passed the lips of the staff member, she did ask how the food was and when I said ok she said 'filled a hole eh? ' Yip, can 't argue with that. Needless to say for £40 I didn 't think it was value and won 't be back. Definitely worth paying a bit more for some fresh food to be cooked by someone who cares about it or less money at a burger van. Really not sure where the rave reviews are coming from."

"We went as a family of 3 as a special treat. Ordered chilli nachos to share, very sweet tasting and watery making the nachos soggy straight away. Mixed pakora was average, sure portion size is smaller My daughter and i were going to order mac n cheese until we asked what it came with to be told NOTHING even though the online menu says chips, salad,or garlic bread? On hearing this we ordered the fish and chips £30 for both, one with batter, the other with breadcrumbs. Tasteless fish, some skin still on it which is a no no from me and the worst thing was the frozen chips.. Carrigans why have you done away with your chippy chips? Big mistake Hubby ordered lasagne and a side portion of chips because that comes with NOTHING on side as well,Nothing to write home about Really don't know how they can justify the price for lasagne with nothing on side,2 mins down the road to the parkville you get garlic ciabatta, rocket and parmesan and also the fish would have been 2 for 1. Hey ho you live and learn,£77 for food and drinks Profit before custom, won't be back Could have had an amazing fish supper from alhambra in bellshill for a lot cheaper. Won't be back,.big letdown. Standards are slipping big time."

"Visited on 16th Feb for date night dinner (when booking had been advised we 'd have the table for 2 hours). On arrival at 6pm, was happy to be offered a booth with, again the stipulation that they had it back by 8pm. I should have noticed by the over-attentive service (put an empty glass down and it was lifted within 20 seconds) that they were desperate for the table back, and as soon as we put our forks down at 7:25 they were asking for the table back. This was our date night and we continued chatting, only to be reminded twice within 5 minutes that they needed the table. We complained to the waitress who said she didn 't know what was going on . The food was average but overpriced. Needless to say we won 't be back."

"We stopped at this restaurant on our way back from Edinburgh. The service was friendly and there were many options to choose from. The bacon and sausage rolls we ordered were delicious. We also got a coffee and a cake to go, both of which were fresh and tasty. The staff appeared to be working diligently. Highly recommend this place!"

"I have never felt so humiliated. I had two drinks, one of which I never finished, and the waitress told me I was not allowed to have another drink. However, she asked my husband if he wanted one. We both left feeling embarrassed and humiliated. When I called the owner this morning seeking an explanation, he was rude and told me to take it up with his wife, who was there when I was denied another drink. I had not even finished my second glass. I am a responsible person and just wanted an explanation as to why I was refused another drink. It felt like I was being discriminated against for having received my second vaccine."

"The service was excellent, but we waited for 40 minutes without realizing it. The delivery driver claimed he knocked on the door, but he didn't. Our two dogs were going crazy! However, the food was returned and it was delicious. Thank you for the prompt second delivery. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is amazing and the prices are very reasonable."

"Great service and food. Always happy to go back as food is always tasty. If you like fishy dishes Risotto Pescatore is highly recommended. Calamari with the dip for a starter is also very good! Menu has so many great choices and I always look forward to going here over the other restaurants at the hub tbh. Family friendly and staff very good with kids when they go for ice cream."

"For my meal, I had lentil soup with bread as a starter, chicken with haggis for the main course, and toffee cheesecake for dessert. The food was delicious. The wedding party was great, with good music from the DJ. The breakfast buffet the next day was also lovely. I want to thank all the staff at the Torrance Hotel for a wonderful stay and for making my sister's wedding special. I will definitely be back for a drink and dinner in the future. The hotel is easily accessible by bus from my home in North Motherwell. Thank you again to everyone at the Torrance Hotel."

"we have dined here as a family and the place was dirty. the menus were so sticky that we couldn't open them. the table was dirty. the food was in order, but could have been better. the whole place was too dark and let us ask if they didn't really light up the restaurant because it would look even worse in good lighting. the staff were friendly and quickly brought us our food, but the venue needs attention to meet the standards we expect."

"My friends and I visited this wetherspoons for a friends leaving night, Had a good laugh until the Tracy (who i assume was the manager) told us that if we didnt have ID we would have to leave by 8pm, okay that was fine but...at 8:15 my friend had bought an alcoholic free kopparberg, and at 8:25 Tracey came over to our table and asked for everyones ID, My friend who had purchased the alcohol free drink didnt bring her ID with her, was asked to leave which was fair enough but she wasnt allowed to finish her drink or take it outside and didnt allow any sort of refund as she had only had a tiny bit of it. I just found Traceys attitude really rude and frankly I was disappointed in how it was handled. I also work in hospitality and if i had treated a customer like this, I would no longer have a job. Hope this doesnt happen to anyone else and hope the attitude changes within this establisment."

"No no no no! Chicken satay main course on the skewer was ordered, what was received was another matter. First of all instead of a separate sauce it was sploshed over top of chicken skewers in tub so it was virtually impossible to get meat...from skewers without it falling all over the floor. I use the word meat very loosely here, what was on the skewer resembled stringy rubber more than meat! The sauce was thick, globular, minimal with a few bits of under cooked onions thrown in no peppers etc as typical in a satay). This main course cost just under £10 and was swiftly put in the wheelie bin ! An eating experience I will not/ would hate to repeat ever again!"
"Very disappointing our 1st visit post lockdown and we booked for a family anniversary celebration. We had fond memories of the quality of food and ambience at Cornhill in the restaurant but alas despite the new decor the food service did not match our expectations. Starters were tasty despite appearance which did not make them look particularly appetising. Had to ask for butter for roll and arrived when soup was nearly finished. Had to ask for cutlery to be replenished after starters as Main courses which were fine had arrived but no knife replaced. Dessert was extremely poor. Huge portion of sticky toffee pudding 2 slices per person who ordered it but tasted very dry and not freshly made. Ice cream was ordered with chocolate sauce and had to then ask again for chocolate sauce and was told it would be out shortly. A very small portion then arrived with the explanation that it was the last sachet of sauce and at least it would give me a taste. When it arrived the ice cream was already melting. Chocolate sauce from a sachet ??? Very poor no apologies did not ask how things were or if we had enjoyed. There was a comment as most of the sticky toffee pudding had been left about the large portion size as though this might have been the reason. The chocolate sauce at Cornhilll used to be fabulous as was the service but today’s experience was very poor. It was very poor value for the experience happy to pay for quality and service but this wasn’t received."

"Whatever happened to the K-Wok of old? It used to be our go to place when we passed through Biggar. Not any more and if the local people are to be believed it’s since new owners took over a while back.Where to start? We walked into the shop and a very happy staff member took our order of a chicken curry and rice and a side of chips to share. Paid for them and waited for them knowing they’d be good. Girl on the counter checked with the kitchen and was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes. We went for a stroll and came back 20 minutes or so later but we couldn’t get near the shop for phone order customers waiting for their food. One lady I spoke to was told to come to the shop in 45 mins which she did only to find her order wasn’t ready for her. It eventually arrived in 90 minutes! This was the view of the crowd of 8 of us waiting outsideAnother customer who used to get his food delivered now collects his order from the shop by walking into the shop with no pre order and that way KWok chefs (if there’s more than one) cook his food in 15-20 minutes. My order finally arrived in 55 minutes which was wholly unacceptable and so we won’t be using the shop again for that reason. No harm to the lady on the counter. She asked the kitchen for updates and nobody in the kitchen would tell her what was happening. The manager refused to come out front when I asked for her saying she was too busy for customers. To sum up since the change of ownership this place has taken a nose dive. There used to be a happy, jovial atmosphere and banter from the staff and customers. That’s all gone now. The once beautiful curry sauce has been replaced by gloopy tasteless mess and the rice has been changed to some cheap brand which makes it taste awful. We’ll never be back to this place whilst the present people run it. It’s cash only as well which we found odd in this day and age. Best thing about the place? The lady on the front counter that attempted to keep everyone happy.Staff 10/10Food 2/10Timing 1/10Managements attitude to customers and staff 0/10"

"Dropped in here late Sunday afternoon, deciding to sit in rather than takeaway. We hadn 't booked but the staff checked bookings and managed to fit us in. The staff were brilliant and brought the menu 's over. We had our 2 grandchildren with us and they were given the kids menu. Absolutely, by miles, the best kids menu anywhere.!!! Our 2 love traditional fish and chips and they are 4 and 10 so often the ten year old moves to an adult menu. No need here the fish bites were proper pieces of haddock in their excellent batter. Kids drinks were full size glasses and then an ice cream and a 'bambinicino ' Our waitress was excellent with the kids and told them they 'd love the bambinocino as it was a small hot choc with marshmallows. We both had the traditional fish and chips and it was delicious. We added the tea, bread and butter option. The beautifully cooked fish came with salad perfectly dressed, and a portion of coleslaw and home made tartare sauce. The kids finished their fish and the waitress told them to go choose any flavour of ice cream from the large selection at the front counter they loved this idea and it came with teddy bear wafer and a sparkly cocktail stick in it quickly followed by the cutest little expresso cups with their bambinocinos!! We indulged too in some fantastic Sundae 's the ice cream is amazing.Delightful food in a delightful place with the nicest staff ever. First time here but will most certainly be back often!!!"
