"Been going here for years now and had some great meals. However last visit we were hurt and disappointed in service and meal as regular diners. Phoned to book and ensured we were getting normal lunch menu. As reason we were meeting up was not a celebration, far from it tbh. Yet when we got there were told no, only allowed Christmas lunch or go a la Carte. Obviously more expensive, we said but we booked normal lunch for our guests. Got nowhere and felt quite upset and unhappy with treatment as older gent who served us seemed quite irrate and we all had difficulty in understanding his statements. Our guests did not enjoy their meal and left much of it. Portions were very small and not well presented on this occasion. It proved to be very expensive and as Christmas menu wasn’t usual dishes we ordered had to be a la carte. At no point were we asked if we enjoyed our meal as we would have said no as quite frankly it was not their usual standard. Did think they would have noticed meal wasn’t enjoyed as quite a lot left. Obviously they didn’t care either about customer satisfaction or culinary enjoyment. Really much more than disappointed in you Mata Hari we expected better. Regret taking guests there and will never recommend or patronise you again. Poor show."

"I dropped in with my granddaughter recently for lunch. The menu covers a typical selection of breakfast and lunch items including soups, sandwiches, baked potatoes, filled rolls, paninis, etc Despite the fact that it was busy on arrival we managed to get a table, place an order and have this delivered in a fairly short timescale, in contrast to some visits in the past when service has been slow. All the staff seemed to be working to a purpose, were friendly and efficient! I had a couple of rolls with Lorne sausage £2.95 each), whilst my granddaughter had a Coronation chicken sandwich which was served with a little salad, coleslaw and crisps £5.50). We both enjoyed our choices, although the salad dressing wasn’t a hit personal preference not to have it). Next up was a plain scone with butter £2.60) and a slice of carrot cake £2.30) with tea and coffee. The scone seemed to go down well but I thought the cake was a bit dry. Overall, decent enough lunch for around £20 for two. Unisex toilet was well maintained."

"I have visited this restaurant many times over the years and this is the first negative review I have ever written for any establishment, but my experience was shockingly poor. We went for breakfast on a late morning midweek when it wasn't busy and were seated right by the window at the door. It took a long time to order drinks and even longer to order food. It took 20 minutes for our two breakfast dishes to arrive. My omelette was dry, falling apart, and basically a scrambled mess. When I posted about it on social media, I received various comments asking what I was eating (without mentioning where I was). My friend had avocado toast and when I asked him how it was, he just shook his head. We both ate most of our meals because we had to get back to work, but I left a third of mine because it was so dry. No one checked back on our food or offered us another drink when we had finished. A couple of young female staff members were busy chatting with customers at the counter and didn't clear our dirty plates. When my friend got up to make a phone call, I had to ask another staff member for the bill, which was not ideal. There was no conversation or even a simple thank you as we left. I'm not sure why I left a tip, perhaps out of habit. It felt like nobody cared about the food or the service. The staff on the floor didn't engage with the customers and only interacted with each other and their friends who came in for takeout. I have not returned since and likely won't, as I was truly disappointed. It used to be a great place, but not anymore."

"First time and last time ordering from here... Menu seemed great and delivery time was the usual, however they only delivered half the order. I called and was told that 'in 5mins ' the driver would be back.... 11mins later, knock at door with a cold meal, thrust into the hands of my other half, who said 'it 's freezing... ' and got I know in reply, as the driver walked away. But again the order was incomplete. Phoned to complain yet again (and despite this, its something we never do... and was told they would send a fresh one and they would take the other one back (sincerely hope that wasn 't sent to anyone ... Finally after more than another half hour, a fresh delivery made, but the quality of the meal was poor: it was clear that it was made with cash n carry chicken chunks (precooked/ frozen and dropped into the curry. They were bland, tough and the foxes got it. When I called back to actually give them a complaint (as opposed to asking where the food was, and chasing up missing items... the girl I spoke to was nice and she tried her best with the manager but he wouldn 't come to the phone, and offered no explanation or apology. When you pay cash you 're never going to get any refund. As I said at the start, first time ever ordering here, and completely the last. I know takeaways are busy but it 's no excuse for poor service AND duff food. We didn 't eat our meal together and I threw most of mine away. Save your money or pay by credit card so you can get some recompense at least."

"I have never felt so humiliated. I had two drinks, one of which I never finished, and the waitress told me I was not allowed to have another drink. However, she asked my husband if he wanted one. We both left feeling embarrassed and humiliated. When I called the owner this morning seeking an explanation, he was rude and told me to take it up with his wife, who was there when I was denied another drink. I had not even finished my second glass. I am a responsible person and just wanted an explanation as to why I was refused another drink. It felt like I was being discriminated against for having received my second vaccine."

"An absolute cracking bar. We went down early evening and filled up with a southern fried sharer and home made nachos. Sooo much food and damn, it was good. The staff were chatty, super friendly and really helpful when deciding what to eat and drink. The bar has a great vibe, rustic wood, kinda junk yardy with music ranging from the 80s to the early 00s. We really had a nice evening and can't wait to go back, thanks guys."

"Let's face it, we all love the odd takeaway on a Friday night to eat in front of the telly after a long week at work. I placed an order last night and told to collect it in 20 minutes. I was there on time. Got home and found the fish pakora was soggy and had a taste like it had been in a freezer too long (the lemon slice was nice tho . The popadoms weren't crisp. They were so bendy I could have made origami swans out of them. Spiced onions were nice. The tikka curry and rice were nice but the salt and chilli chips were rubbery and dry (microwave reheats? And although they had a slice or two of onion and green pepper on top there was no seasoning at all. All in all I paid almost £27 for a slice of lemon, a tray of onions and a nice curry all served with awful sides. It's put me off going back as it's a disappointing end to parting with your hard earned cash."

"Great service and food. Always happy to go back as food is always tasty. If you like fishy dishes Risotto Pescatore is highly recommended. Calamari with the dip for a starter is also very good! Menu has so many great choices and I always look forward to going here over the other restaurants at the hub tbh. Family friendly and staff very good with kids when they go for ice cream."

"This place is the most awesome experience we have ever had in an Indian restaurant. Just so awesome, missing Indian food then this is the best place to try out their food. We also celebrated our baby 1st birthday party here and it was the best decision ever. Each and everyone who came to our party was so happy with the taste of the food. They even ask our preferences before serving food which is so good. Just a best place not to miss. Thanks for the awesome and yummy food. Kid-friendliness: Friendly with kids and also asked about any specific preference for baby food too."

"For my meal, I had lentil soup with bread as a starter, chicken with haggis for the main course, and toffee cheesecake for dessert. The food was delicious. The wedding party was great, with good music from the DJ. The breakfast buffet the next day was also lovely. I want to thank all the staff at the Torrance Hotel for a wonderful stay and for making my sister's wedding special. I will definitely be back for a drink and dinner in the future. The hotel is easily accessible by bus from my home in North Motherwell. Thank you again to everyone at the Torrance Hotel."

"Very disappointing our 1st visit post lockdown and we booked for a family anniversary celebration. We had fond memories of the quality of food and ambience at Cornhill in the restaurant but alas despite the new decor the food service did not match our expectations. Starters were tasty despite appearance which did not make them look particularly appetising. Had to ask for butter for roll and arrived when soup was nearly finished. Had to ask for cutlery to be replenished after starters as Main courses which were fine had arrived but no knife replaced. Dessert was extremely poor. Huge portion of sticky toffee pudding 2 slices per person who ordered it but tasted very dry and not freshly made. Ice cream was ordered with chocolate sauce and had to then ask again for chocolate sauce and was told it would be out shortly. A very small portion then arrived with the explanation that it was the last sachet of sauce and at least it would give me a taste. When it arrived the ice cream was already melting. Chocolate sauce from a sachet ??? Very poor no apologies did not ask how things were or if we had enjoyed. There was a comment as most of the sticky toffee pudding had been left about the large portion size as though this might have been the reason. The chocolate sauce at Cornhilll used to be fabulous as was the service but today’s experience was very poor. It was very poor value for the experience happy to pay for quality and service but this wasn’t received."

"Positives location is good for Uddingston town centre and it’s close to the train station. water pressure in the shower was good. the bar restaurant was heaving when I arrived so it’s clearly a popular place. decent sized car park some nice original features stain glass etc smell of fresh paint so hopefully a sign they are doing the place up. tea and coffee making facilities in room Negatives reception experience was poor no hello how are you no questions about whether I was parked there or if I wanted breakfast. just got asked if I wanted to pay now. when I asked if i could pay when I left I was told it was better if I paid at the start. room was superficially clean but a few issues hair in the sink, rubbish left in the bin from previous guest. blood ! on the bedsheets they had been washed and it was an old stain, but not a stain you want to see. generally room was a bit tired loose door on wardrobe, shoogly drawers, cracked sink and tiles. Telly didn’t work it needed an internet connection which wasn’t working so could only watch a couple of shopping channels and some vintage comedy shows. noisy you can hear all the noise from the bar in the room so it’s noisy until about half eleven. drinks I had an amaretto when they poured it was Veroni, not a brand I recognised. turns out they sell it in Iceland for £8 a bottle. paid £8.45 for a double and a glass of soda water. breakfast still not sure if this was included. it wasn’t mentioned when I checked in. I left about 8am and again it wasn’t mentioned, and there was no sign they were set up for it. I just handed my key to the night watchman and left. price if this was £50 I’d probably not be as bothered but £93 is a lot of money to take"

"We went to make an order for four dishes. I asked them whether the sauce and noodles are mixed together or not, since this would have been more convenient for us while we were travelling. She was friendly and willing to answer our questions; although, she was not entirely correct when she stated that they were, as it turned out. This would've been fine; the sauces were decent; but, the pasta was a complete and utter joke, looked a bit like a pot noodle without the water. It wasn't cooked yet somehow it was burnt. This has ruined the entire meal and we sure won’t be going back."

"New owner WOW the grub was great fantastic I really wasn't expecting it to be that good I'm really blown away!!! I really struggle to eat healthy halal food in Hamilton especially Italian there isn't a Italian that does halal option apart from equis the staff have good knowledge of halal diet as you should being in the food industry!! Well spoken polite nice clean crisp white uniform some places I have been to the staff look like they have got out same bed!! .I asked for halal option the young gentleman at the counter went and asked the chef and the chef himself came out and said how do you like it ? I said give me something nice he started saying have the pasta with the hot sauce so I did the way he described the dish to me the passion in his face I knew it was more then a job to this man he enjoys what he does .I have had lamb shanks the best I have ever tested, pasta, pizza words don't do the food justice. You try it !! The proof is in the pudding spectacular great staff and out this world grub really. Now I have some where in Hamilton to eat healthy food bravo .if you have halal dietary needs don't be put of by the Caucasian staff cleanest I've seen they even said you can't have this its got wine in it best honest staff I've met so for not just a sale to them it's about the customers"

"bought a voucher, £29 for 2 x 6oz steaks with all circumcisions with a bottle of wine. We ordered appetizers...I snuggle and my man the black pudding with poached egg...both were amazing. my hubby said the "6oz steak eating would not be big! but it came with thick cut home style chips, mushrooms, tomato, salat with a beautiful dressing and a peppermint sauce, the steak was perfectly boiled (medium rare). we both tried to finish our meal times. greedy man had also ordered a lateral part of the wobble rings and they were made to house excellent. the house wine with the meal was beautiful....we were comprehending before, but would be happy to order this again and at £13.95 a bottle she 't break the bank. the service was excellent and we need to apologize for not having a big tip that was worthy of service. we were not in a cash machine before, but we will be back and show our appreciation....all of a fantastic meal and service."

"we had a groupon voucher that was half pizza and pasta, waiter was nice and told us that we don't have the same pizza or pasta that was great. I had the pulled pork pizzy. my partner had the seafood pizza and we both are the chicken-filuccine pasta. was delicious. I chose a dessert. apfel and Sultana bakery with ice cream. was beautiful. really good value and definitely would be back as still good menu offers without deal. beautiful restaurant and personal."

"my own and my fiancée went to the other night for the first time. we are already regular customers of the Italian at redstones and love it there so had hoped that would be of a similar standard. we were definitely disappointed! we had a nice meal and a brilliant night out. we had to start the meat and cheese plate, the plate for 1 is more than enough for two to share as starter. the ugly and tzatziki were beautiful with the pitta, then we both had the chicken sauce that was amazing! back to my childhood vacation to the Greeks and my favourite meal while I was there! the waitress that served us was absolutely beautiful and could not have done to make sure we were well with drinks and eating on camp. they would be highly recommended! we will be coming back soon"
