"Attended recently for a family dinner we have been going here for years and it used to be a firm favourite. Firstly, on this occasion the food wasn 't to the usual high standard. Not sure if there have been staff changes in the kitchen but it just wasn 't to our liking. Which is fair enough and a matter of opinion. The main issue is what has put me off returning, and that was one of the female staff members. We had a young baby in our party, who was welcomed heartily (great start) and given a high chair. One staff member in particular was keen to make a fuss of the baby (again great) and offered her hands out to take the baby. This was politely declined. Baby was sat happily playing with a spoon which the waitress for some reason decided to come over and take from her, and then sing and clap in her face, causing the baby to cry. A short time later same waitress brought a bottle of prosecco to the table, and proceeded to hand the twisted metal and Cork to the baby (taken back promptly by childs parent). Another short time later same waitress approached the table and handed baby a prawn cracker which again was taken back with a 'no, don 't do that please ' by the parent. Same waitress then proclaimed some chips will be good for her when the food was brought to the table. She was nothing short of irritating, continually putting her hands in babies face, pushing interaction from the child. All it meant was that the babies parents could not relax, could not eat in peace and were also on high alert for the next dangerous article or inappropriate food item to be given to the baby. Whilst it is always nice to be welcomed as a family and nice to have your child admired, our whole party was shaking their heads in disbelief. I 'm afraid it has put us off returning as it was not an enjoyable or relaxing experience."

"I recently visited this cozy bar and lounge and was pleased to see it reopen after Covid under new ownership. The new owners are doing a great job, especially when it comes to the delicious food served at lunchtime. The menu is reasonably priced with a two-course option for £11.99. I highly recommend trying the beer-battered fish and the steak pie, which was packed with filling. The service is always friendly and welcoming. I recently returned for lunch in December 2022 and the experience was just as fantastic as before. The steak pie was still amazing! I will definitely be back again."

"Waited at the allocated area to be seated. After a fair bit of time passed, with numerous staff passing by without any kind of acknowledgement, I began to doubt I was waiting in the correct place to be allocated a seat. I approached a staff member, to be told in a curt tone to wait over at area I had stood waiting. I returned and waited …. And waited. Said staff member proceeded to serve food, clear tables and ignore the building queue of customers. I left in disgust- I’m not begging to be seated. This is NOT an isolated incident, this happened previously. Staff walk about with their eyes painted on, don’t acknowledge the waiting customers and act like you are a major inconvenience. I’ll take my business elsewhere!"

"Normally first class food until last night, my wife ordered the platter and I had Singapore fried rice and hot sour soup. My food was good as usual but my wife’s order was very over cooked and very dry . Disappointed as food from Jimmy’s is usually spot on. I’ll put this down to a one off and hope it won’t be repeated."

"Had Lunch this Afternoon. My Adult Son, Daughter and myself. This was at around 12:45. There were no other customers, until after we’d received our Mains. My Son, had the Lasagna and a side of Chips with a cheese and Tomato sauce topping. He said both were very good. I had the Tuscan Sausage and Bean Stew, that was topped with a healthy mound of Mashed Potatoes (not a smooth mousse paste, but a very tasty rustic and characterful style) which was good. The food was “made to order”, and was served piping hot. There was no roll or bread to accompany the dish, which would have been nice. We only had the Mains with the one side of Chips. It is for 1Course, £10 for 2 and £12 for 3. This is not fast food, so don’t be in a rush. A nice leisurely homemade Lunch, in a beautiful environment is what you’re guaranteed if you dine here. I will be back. I genuinely wanted to score 3.6 but couldn’t do so. Please give us some Bread and Butter/Olive Oil to munch on while we wait. It will make a good experience better."

"I stumbled into this restaurant a bit worse for wear and was craving a bacon roll. I ordered one for myself and my friend, who was also feeling a bit rough. I chose one with red sauce and one with brown sauce. Let me tell you, I have been daydreaming about the 'Bakehoose Bacon' ever since! It was absolutely delicious. My only complaint is that when I tried to go back for another roll, I discovered that this little gem of a place is closed on Sundays. I had to settle for a lesser quality roll from a different shop in town. So disappointed!"

"for three years gone to cova, a consistent winner: freshly cooked eating, which is loaded far above the norm to the trips, and certainly overtake their surrounding competitors, which, I must emphasize, I have nothing against, and sometimes also use. but. for us it is usually cova. whether it is the breakfast menu or the normal menu, has never been disappointed, and have often been awakened. ingredients are obviously fresh and of a superior quality, well together with the attention to the presentation. also a crisp sortiment at home: scones, cake etc., all of the same high standard. I have always found the personal to be welcoming and cheerful, and even if cova busy and service can slow down a little, keep the kinen up and always have time for customers. also it speaks with covas popularity, well deserved. all in all, we are there in the average two, three times in the month, know that it is a good experience, and to crack the price-performance ratio. Thank you."

"This place is a little slice of heaven in Lanark. We have not had one bad experience in here and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Their Soup of the Day and French Onion soup never disappoint and the signature Roast Beef Pave is amazing. The service is excellent and the place is absolutely spotless. Well done and keep up the good work. We have definitely found our favourite venue for lunch. Hoping to go for brekkie tomorrow to finally try the French Toast."

"Last night my wife and I had pre theatre menu at this restaurant, our first and last visit. There is limited parking at the rear around 10 cars. Not too sure where you would park if full. Greeted by smiling waiter and shown to our table.. Our order was delivered quickly I had a pint of lager my wife tap water with blackcurrant. Our meals were OK nothing startling. Chicken pakora, Chasni chicken, Tikka chicken. Reasonable priced £15.95 which included ice cream. All other sundries naan bread etc. were extra. It’s when we got our bill that the price for water blackcurrant which shocked me. £3.75 for tap water and a dash of blackcurrant, how on earth is this reasonable. I complained and was passed from one waiter to another but they all shook their heads and said that’s the price. As there were other diners watching and listening my wife decided to pay the bill. So, parking poor, food no more than OK, their charge for tap water and blackcurrant absolutely outrageous means we will not be back."

"We had lunch here last Wednesday (05/04/2) and can 't praise it enough! There were five adults and two kids in the party. Four adults had the three-course Business Lunch with tomato soup for our starter. I 've never tasted such fantastic tomato soup in a LONG while; we all couldn 't get over how good it was. Two of us had the fish and chips and cleared our plates the others had the curry which I think was the South Indian that day. That was scoffed too. My husband had the steak with a whisky sauce which he said was fantastic and done to a T . The childen had Mac n Cheese and Pizza from the kiddies menu. We all finished with ice cream with various sauces. YUM! All-in-all, a most enjoyable lunch. Great atmosphere, fantastic food at brvery competitive prices and our wonderful server, Shannon, couldn 't have been more helpful and accommodating. This was me and the hubby 's second visit to the restaurant. First time was for dinner, which was also thoroughly enjoyed and was our reason for heading back to the G&B last week. We 'll certainly be back again, either for lunch or dinner. Who knows? What I DO know is that we can be sure of excellent food and service."

"I do not normally write reviews for food places, but I am compelled to write one for Dirty Dogs American Smokehouse as the experience was so memorable. We stopped by on the way back to Devon to investigate, as I had seen it several times before and was curious to see an American Smokehouse in this part of Scotland. Wow, am I glad I did! We met the friendly owner chef and his assistant, and had a good chat with them while he prepared our food in between answering a steady stream of telephone orders. There 's a great selection of American classics to be had on the menu, with premium dogs, steak and chicken burgers, burritos and lots of others. All food was prepared fresh in front of us, and the portions were huge. I had the Dirty Yank burger, which comes with loads of BBQ pulled pork on top of a thick, juicy Aberdeen Angus steak burger. It also contained the usual staples such as cheese, bacon and salad as well as House Sauce (tastes a bit like Subway 's South West sauce very nice! and BBQ sauce. A 'meal deal ' which adds large portion of chips and a 500ml bottle to drink for an extra £2 was an unexpected bonus. I cannot accurately describe the amazing taste of my burger, so I will simply use and agree wholeheartedly with the words my wife spoke after finishing hers (she also had a Yank burger 'This is the best burger I have ever tasted in my life '. My son would also agree. I am gutted that I live so far away from Dirty Dogs but then again, perhaps that 's best for my waistline as I 'd be there whenever they were open!"

"Had enjoyed this hotel previously, however after our latest experience we will not be back. The shower in our room was scalding hot and temperature could not be lowered as no maintenance staff on site. Had to ask three times for this to be checked. We were moved to another room which was roasting hot and also dirty, please see attached pictures. At dinner we had to wait over thirty minutes to get our drinks and wasn't even that busy. Had finished my lukewarm starter before our drinks arrived. At breakfast poached eggs were hard. Raised this all with reception and all they offered was possibilities of a free cocktail next time we stayed. Suffice to say we won't be back."

"Family visit on the last August Bank Holiday Monday eight family members, mostly soup and sandwich combos. Two Mac cheese one with chips the other Garlic Bread. Where to start, cold soup, and unbelievably cheap and nasty wafer thin white soggy bread, why not proper bloomer type sandwiches, please remember that these weren’t inexpensive. The Mac cheese options were of even poorer quality, one tiny spoonful of Mac cheese, which was almost like tinned Mac cheese ? and two tiny pieces of cheap lightly toasted crusty bread. The with chips option had the same extremely poor Mac cheese, presented dreadfully on a large pasta bowl, with very poorly cooked frozen skin on fries, not crispy and dry but floppy undercooked chips which were inedible. I have reviewed the oven previously, and decided to try again……. but that was a huge mistake, they so badly need to up their game, I find it incredible that it appears to be a popular option as it seems to be always busy as I drive past, given I live relatively local. Just an aside our waitress I have to say wasn’t exactly the most welcoming either. Very very poor, and felt ripped off in the extreme, definitely won’t be back !"

"we visited Thai mango and looked forward to some delicious authentic Thai food and we were very disappointed. at the arrival in the restaurant we were suddenly screamed through the waitress over the waitress to our reservation then at a table in the center. the way into the kitchen, which means that we were constantly advised in the pastness of other customers and employees. our appetizers arrived who were edible, but the prawn tempura did not resemble from the far away the authentic Thai dish we expected. then we waited for an hour for our crying tiger main course. yes employees apologised for the waiting period and offered us a dose juice to compensate for the waiting period we kindly accepted. when our main course of the weeping tiger (sirloin steak) arrived to say that it would be cooked over friendly! we had ordered this to be moderately rare, but both came to burn! when she talked to the waitress about it, she was apologetic and offered to take one of the bills, but then said if we wanted new food we would wait over an hour again! she said that the cooks were very busy and therefore our food arrived as it did, but there was nothing she could do. I could understand that if there was a big restaurant, but at that time there were only other people at the place. I think this restaurant had potential to be good, but if they offer a well-known dish like weeping tiger and a part they really need to know how to cook it right! the waitress was very rude to us and another couple that came after us. There was a beautiful young man who did not start long, who was extremely apologetic and made the experience much more beautiful for us."

"2nd time ordering here i didn't review first time as i give places a 2nd chance. So tonight was 2nd time ordering 1st time ordering i ordered two pizza 1 with pepperoni and one with chorizo and black pudding and a box with vhicken strips and chips. The pizza was great the base a little chewy but toppings taste great its probably the only pizza i ever eat where i cant eat the crust because a little chewy. Ordered same tonight apart from the pepperoni pizza i changed to the candian ham pizza. Same toppings are great this place probably sits on my top 3 pizza places. Delivery is spot on and i think every 5th order you get 15% off so for 2 large pizza and box of chips and chicken strips for £25 quid i think it was more or less £25 pretty good price. Before i forget the chicken strips were nice and chips are fat chips loved it all."

"Decided to give Bar Milano a try as knew they now allowed dogs in upto a certain time and we always pass by on our walks. Really now wishing we had carried on and went to our usual spot for lunch. Firstly we struggled to...find a clean table (always a bad sign) but sat down at the best one and thought I’d just ask for it to be cleaned. Ordered pizzas and side of fries and the waitress cleaned our table no bother after me asking. minutes later still no sign of food. Went to the bar to ask the waitress who served me if she could chase the food and let me know how long it would as my son and little dog were getting over hungry and a little fed up to be honest. She never came to apologise or explain how long or where our food was. After another minutes I went back to the bar to pay for the soft drinks we had and to say we were leaving as had now waited far too long but again no apology was given. I must say the place wasn’t over busy so I’m presuming others had tried lunch there and had the same bad experiences. May I add when we was leaving another lady was up chasing her food as she had waited over half an hour for her food and still no sign of it either. Avoid at all costs as no customer service skills in the place at all!!!!"

"Went for a family meal tonight. Right away found out there was no Sunday Roast on menu, ok 4 of our party of 7 decide we will have steak pie then. No steak pie either. Very popular dish sold out we were told by the Manager who was smelling of drink at 6.30pm. Not a good start to our family birthday meal. Decided to leave and won't return again."

"Just tried this restaurant for the first time with my family. They offer an excellent buffet, with an array of delicious dishes. For starters, there was Chicken Chat, Mushroom Pakora, Potato Bhaji, and Vegetable Pakora. Then for mains an excellent choices including Beef, Chicken, and Lamb, with there being 11 different choices of meat dishes, and 3 vegetarian options. Also the most gorgeous Garlic Nan, and Pilau Rice as well. For the 4 of us including a couple of 620ml Cobras, as well as Diet Coke, and Sprite too, the total price was 48.00 for our family of 4. Fantastic price. And what made this indian buffet meal so delicious, all the sauces tasted completely different to each other, so many times when I've went for a buffet in the past where one sauce basically just tastes the same as the next. NOT this restaurant. Whether it be the butter chicken, or the lamb achari, or the beef madras, the food was on another level. And the staff were very friendly too. Definitely going back to this restaurant. It's a no brainer."

"The Lantern one of only a couple of Chinese restaurants that continue to open trade on Christmas night for those of us who crave a Christmas night curry. That other restaurant being The Curry House. Years ago, pretty much every Chinese restaurant/takeaway opened at...least for a few hours, but year on year the number who continue to trade goes down which is a pity. I ordered a breast of chicken curry chopped without onions, fried rice, prawn crackers, chips an extra curry sauce at a cost of Delivery on Christmas night from The Lantern was so I opted to go pick my meal up myself. My meal considering it was Christmas night was very good indeed. My only criticism it is only slight, is the salt within the curry sauce could be doing with being reduced. The sauce was just a touch too salty, but overall a very enjoyable meal. Thanks goes to the hardworking staff at The Lantern this Christmas night for opening providing an alternative to the traditional Christmas dinner when many other local Chinese takeaways opted to stay closed. At this rate you'll soon be the only Chinese restaurant/takeaway to open on future Christmas Days. Keep up the good work!"
