Warwick, UK, is renowned for its medieval castle and historic architecture. Typical local foods include ale-braised meats and hearty stews, often enjoyed in traditional pubs.

"The Roebuck Inn, along Warwick town centre 's Smith Street, complements Warwick 's quintessential English persona. Over time the space inside the pub has been opened and extended to provide good restaurant capacity while preserving the local feel of the lounge/bar area. A musician was setting up on Saturday night for some live music. The Inn offered refreshingly imaginative options by way of specials when I was there. As with any quintessentially English town, parking is what it is and Warwick is probably not reputed for ample parking, but that 's all part of the joy of England."

"Terrible booking system. Booked online for 2:15 Mothers Day, get called from the restaurant asking us to pre order and pay a deposit, which we did. Once this was done they tried pushing our booking back as much as possible. We didn’t want to but ended up feeling like we had to so agreed to change to 3pm. Then they tried to move our table outside despite it being early March and one of the guests being 87. And they just kept saying how busy they were. That’s not our problem, they shouldn’t have took the booking if they couldn’t cope with it. The day before we came we received a reminder text of the table being booked for 2:15 so we had to ring up again to check what time the table was now for and were told 3pm. When we arrived there were people in front of us who had not got the message about pre ordering or paying a deposit and were told they had cancelled their reservation as a result. The guy was really rude telling them how it was their fault because he left a message and no one had called them back and the family were then worried they would have nowhere to eat as everywhere else would obviously be booked at that point. This whole process was not clear through the booking system and we were not aware either until we got the call ourselves. We were then told to which table to sit on, no one came over and it took 20 minutes until we even got a drink. On the set menu it said a free glass of fizz to all the Mums, but this was never offered to us (there were three mums in our group). The starters were tight on portions considering it wasn’t cheap. The mains were fine and the desert was nice. Also, our kids were charged the half price set menu (which was the kids option) even though they only had a main and desert, and not a starter. So there was no reduction in cost for them even though they had not asked us if they wanted a starter. They then brought out the kids mains the same time as they adult starters. Service was really slow, and plates were left on the table for a long time after we finished. 10% service charge was put on the bill, which I thought was a joke as we barely had any service while we were there. I would have gave feedback on the day if anyone at any point had asked how things were, but they didn’t. Which just demonstrated the level of service we received. From the booking process to dining, we were made to feel like an inconvenience, which really soured things when it is meant to be a nice day. Overall a really bad experience and won’t be going back."

"We arrived in Leamington Spa for an afternoon visit and saw this place while looking for a parking space. My Yunnanese companion couldn’t wait to try it! The fried spring rolls were the best I’ve had anywhere; fresh, hot and delicious! We both had rice noodle soup obviously, if you know Yunnanese cuisine one seafood and one beef. Both excellent! Mine had plenty of seafood and her beef was tender and succulent. Apparently not as good as you’ll find in Yunnan but she still said it was very good, which is praise, indeed, from her. With two teas, the total came to £26.40, which was exceptional value. And the service was friendly and very quick. The place is Spartan but very clean and nicely decorated. Highly recommended."

"Came here on my lunch you’d expect fast service because of people being on there lunch, that didn’t happen at all I had to wait 20 minutes for my food, service was terrible, couldn’t even work the till properly and had no manners at all no ‘please’ or ‘Thankyou for coming’ I pretty much had the bag thrown at me while he was in mid conversation with another employee and just carried on chatting, won’t be going back"

"Thank you to all the staff at Warwick Spice for a lovely Christmas lunch. The food, atmosphere, and service were excellent. As a family, we've dined out at Warwick Spice for years and always enjoyed the food and service. Christmas lunch was a perfect balance of everything that Warwick Spice does well, The Satar player adds to a lovely atmosphere, the waiters are polite and offer a great service, and the food was probably the best I've experienced. Thanks to all the staff, see you in the New Year"

"Without doubt Leanne and Danny’s Sunday lunch is the best in the county and you really should book in advance to avoid being left watching everyone else tuck into the fabbie grub.(even teh veggie stuff is cooked separately). Very welcoming atmosphere , happy to let in dogs and all decorated to a good standard. The menu is good, varied and Leanne does an amazing job and the food is served all day.. Its also very good for veggies. If you want a light lunch the soup and rosaries are just smashing. Its also a good spot for sport (footy/rugby /cricket) and has an incredibly competitive Bingo night on Monday Decent wine list and good range of beers including guest beers . Great brunch menu if you book in advance So if you are visiting the area for work or leisure, this is a great find."

"I ordered from here a few times when visiting leamington, this time was a little different than the personal seemed happier, friendly and pleasant. that was waiting for 8 minutes, which is good because eating is being prepared while waiting and I was informed about it before I paid. I find it a bit expensive for a kebab, but it's really delicious. eating was fresh and they get a decent portion size. I wish they had sweet chili sauce!"

"we should first go to kayal, which is directly on the road, but as they had to wait long, we ended up at sabai sabai. at the beginning, the restaurant gives an amazing impression with its large decor. we were greeted by a humble man who tried to bring the ice with his quirky to laugh, completely broken. he let us sit next to the kamin at the beginning and let us order our drinks and eat until he could sit down. Maybe it's normal for them, but it seemed like another culinary experience for us. the food didn't take too long (what we didn't expect) and the owner made sure that he checked for us every step, good talks with...read more"

"A ruined 60th Birthday…! My friends have been frequent visitors of Emperors Chinese restaurant for years however after last Friday we will now NEVER go back! For my 60th birthday we decided to go and have a meal at Emperors They suggested they would bring out a tiny cake as part of the birthday celebration … great we thought ..! …However when the bill came they expected us to pay for the birthday cake as a desert . I questioned it and requested to speak to a supervisor, but they declined to speak with me and said I had to pay for the small birthday cake. I was also say the food is dropped on your table, haphazard with no finesse at all …they practically turfed it onto the table . If you don’t believe me about the cake, ..?please see the attached bill Best to find yourself another another Chinese restaurant, because that’s what we’re doing !!!"

"Looks lovely on the outside but not so lovely on the inside. The table we sat at was a bit dirty to start. The so-called afternoon cream tea wasn’t a pleasant experience. The tea is served in a cup with a teabag and hot water (no teapot) as you’d expect. So I had to place my soggy teabag on my saucer for the duration. The sandwiches were the nicest part, however they arrive on a wooden cake stand which looked very unhygienic with crisps and lack lustre salad placed directly onto this unhygienic-looking wooden cake stand. The cake stand was wobbly with a screw sticking out of the top, where the handle was missing. We got a half a scone per person with the clotted cream already spread thinly on the scone, they were the driest scones I’ve ever tasted (awful) the cakes were also dry, I’d say at least 3-4 days old, definitely not fresh. Overall the worst afternoon cream tea I’ve ever had, and so poorly presented. I can honestly say I never write reviews but I felt compelled to write one on this occasion."

"For the third time this year for us the Pub was closed, despite checking their wed site before we arrived to make sure it was open. On arrival the garden looked empty and sure enough after choosing a seat in the garden and venturing into the pub to order I was greeted with “you all right “ from what what turned out to be stall, management, owners. I said I was ok thanks and was headed off at the door by a member of staff saying we are closed and pointing at a closed sight on the door. No that’s fair enough but why not change your opening times on your wed site if your going to closed or even put a sign at the entrance to the car park so we don’t have to go through the process of parking getting a seat etc etc. It’s such a shame as it’s a lovely place but opening is so unpredictable. Any way we drove to the Queen and Castle in Kenilworth to spend our money instead. I would say check opening times before you leave for the Red Lion and fingers crossed it’s open when you arrive."

"Nandos is always the best place for a quick and budget friendly food. The one i visited at Leamington spa was good. Good interiors and well decorated hall with nicely arranged furnitures. Staffs were hood and friendly. As its located in a market like space (town centre like) no parking just outside the shop but surely theres a common parking outside the same area"

"Was in Warwick for the day and found this place on Trip Adviser (My cousin had reviewed it and he likes great food I wasn’t disappointed! . Think of this like an Italian Ivy sumptuous and great food. The fish menu caught my eye so did the steaks (but I’d had one yesterday and the sea bass cooked in a salt crust delighted that it was served at the table with the theatre of the crust being removed and filleted. We also had the olives and zucchini to start please don’t miss these they are amazing. All in all a great find."

"The Abbey Field sits on the main road, on a Sunday evening it serves food to 9.30pm, which is not true for all pubs locally. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.. plenty so no need to book. Good menu with a special board. Good sized portions served quickly. Quality is high and is good enough for taking your parents, good friend or a date. Staff could not be any nicer, attentive but not annoying. Fair prices for the meal and drinks so £25 per person for two courses and drink. Look at the Greene king APP for deals and discounts. Park in the nearby car park or in a side street and walk a bit further. Good walks nearby, also the old Abbey Field and ruins."

"I don't think Ciao Bella knows what it wants to be, Is it an italian, a carvery or a steakhouse? When my partner I visited on a Wednesday we were seated and asked what drinks we would like, I asked what lager is on...tap, they said just Carling, which for an Italian is pretty unusual, was kind of expecting Peroni or tti, but as that was the only choice that's what we had, some water was supposed to come but only the Carling turned up so had to ask for water again, then another two Carling came over and the girl looked very confused that we already had our drinks and then kind of stared at us for a bit from the bar, along with a few other staff, bit off putting being stared at but ok. couple of menu's were handed to us, regular menu and a steak night menu, we wanted Italian so kept with the Italian menu, we ordered our starter which was a calamari to share, really greasy and loads of garlic but edible, then mains we both had penne pasta rustica, it was alright, but unfortunately loads of garlic again, ingredients seemed like the cheap processed meat but again was edible, staff only came over to ask if everything ok with the meal once we had finished. Toilets had no toilet paper and we were one of the first in to be seated so obviously hadn't been checked, the decor is weird, seems more like a tiki hut kind of place rather than somewhere you would visit in Italy, although it was clean and well kept. Shame as I really wanted this to be a regular place we could visit as there aren't many decent Italian Restaurants around the area. Didn't have dessert as we were getting a bit paranoid being stared at and the not so great food and service, won't return but hopefully they can concentrate on being an Italian that serves good quality food and drink with good service in the future."

"We called tonight to order a collection take away. It can be a little difficult due to my partner being gluten free. The gentleman on the phone was highly knowledgeable about gluten allergies and guided us through what we could have. The order was cooked to perfection and the best tasting Chinese food we have had since being gluten free. The gentleman also took the time to mark a whole menu up for us with highlighter and notes to allow us to choose in the future. Needless to say, we now have a new local Chinese and would recommend everyone visit and experience the food and amazing customer service. 11/10. Thank you so much."

"Unremarkable For a Friday lunchtime, it was suprising to be the only guests in the restaurant. A couple came in 10 mins later. The waitress was not the friendliest and took our orders. We took advantage of the 3 course special for £23.95 each. When my mains came, I asked for some dried chilli which was promptly brought to the table and then I asked for salt pepper and was barked at Is that everything . The starter, Calamari, was dry and stringy. The mains took a long time to come out but by now another table had arrived so maybe the chef was rushed off his feet !!! The original couple had eaten their meal and left by the time we had started our main course. We had 2 pizzas and a fish dish and they were nice but nothing special. The pudding menu on the set menu was either cheesecake or loaded with fudge or caramel, none of which appealed to me. I opted for ice cream which was very good. I recommend the blackcurrant mascarpone. In total, we were in the empty restaurant for 2 hours in order to finish a 3 course meal. I presented my Tesco voucher, only to be told a few minutes later, that I could not use it on the set menu. My fault as I should have checked the small print. I ended up forking out an extra £40 as the whole meal had to be itemised through the till. We agreed that we probably wouldn 't be returning."

"We were driving back up north after a weekend in London and wanted to find a locally run place that did good pub food. The Granville Arms is ~5mins off the M40 and super easy to find. It was a Sunday so we had beef and a lamb Sunday roast and they were excellent. The staff were friendly and prices reasonable too. We could definitely visit again next time we're down! If you've got a long drive up north and prefer to avoid services this is a great choice. Thanks all!"
