"I recently went on a gateway and stumbled across this takeaway. It look pretty modest from outside so I didn’t think much of it. I was wrong, the food for the first time in so long, was above my expectations, if you ever in Dumbarton I would suggest giving it a try. The food was served in sealed trays something that you really need to appreciate in the middle of a pandemic. I had a mixed meat grill and some lamb curry, the meat was seasoned well, you could taste the seasoning even in the burnt spots. My favourite was the lamb curry, delicious it melted in my mouth."

"Took some family members (7) for carvery at 4pm Sunday. Starters dried up , soup wouldn’t come out of jug so had to remove lid tip out . Just a lump of cold congealed mess . Bread rolls rock solid. Main was equally terrible , end of dried up turkey (server apologised) ham fatty and no beef. Veg and potatoes soggy and just leftover from early in the day . So greasy and cold . All got left . There was a table with breakfast food on it , ie, croissants, jam . Seeded muffing and granola. This is what my two grandsons ate . We complained to server , he laughed and said yes it’s left over from breakfast! Never ever in my 60 years have I had such an embarrassing and inedible meal . I’ve never ever left a negative comment on any site before but this was totally unacceptable. I’ve sent an email but not sure if I’ve sent it correctly. We spent a great deal of money on this meal and had to take the children to a fast food outlet on the way home . I was very upset as I had chosen this venue felt very upset embarrassed by the whole experience. Needless to say we won’t be returning or recommending this carvery experience. Someone seriously needs to look at the quality of food . Potatoes , supposedly roast where just white in colour and covered in grease . There was maybe 10 potatoes in the server and there was 7 of us in our party but we asked and told there wasn’t any more . Why we stayed I do not know . Several days later I cannot stop thinking about this meal and feel incredulous that we didn’t ask for a refund, probably just much to polite to do so ."

"I HAVE GIVEN THIS PLACE 5 STAR REVIEWS ON HERE IN THE PAST FEW YEARS BUT NOT ANY MORE! I order a meal for delivery last week it was my partners birthday and we spent almost £30 on a meal for both of us. It had been a long time since we had a delivery as we didn 't bother during the lockdowns as carry out places were so busy. We ordered the following: SPECIAL CURRY/FRIED RICE CHICKEN MUSHROOM/FRIED RICE SPARE RIBS IN PEKING SAUCE SWEET SOUR CHICKEN It was midweek but the order still took 40 mins it used to be 15. Food was hot so good there. The special curry was all curry sauce and sparse....really sparse...ingredients....a total rip off. The sweet and sour chicken 's batter was soggy they really don 't know how to make batter. The peking spare ribs were the worst thing I have ever had the misfortune to buy from any chinese resturant in my 45 years of ordering from them. It was just BONES nothing but BONES there was no meat on them at all but even worse was the sauce!!! Anyone who has ever bought this dish will know that what you pay extra for is the luxurious, delicious, peking sauce, which is a rich thick sauce which tastes absolutely DELICIOUS but this was just sour WATER it was absolutely DISGUSTING and was the exact same sauce as the disgusting sweet and sour sauce which was just SOUR SOUR SOUR there was no sweetness to it, no tomato, in it no pineapple in it, just pure GARBAGE....the whole meal was a disaster. Three days later we tried again at the silver star Chinese in Dumbarton East and oh my god what a difference the special curry was full of ingredients and the peking ribs were EXACTLY what they should be that luxurious delicious sauce we all know and love. The ribs themselves were thick with eating and they even made it look visibly good by garnishing it with red and green peppers, onions, etc. Never ever again will I go to Tastes good (hah!!!! not!!!! STAY WELL AWAY FOLKS THE HONEYMOON IS WELL AND TRULY OVER!"

"I've been visiting Rigo's for years, and have always been fond of their pasta dishes. The spaghetti Bolognese is particularly good. This is a tiny café, and often very busy, which tells you something about the place. It also does takeaway food; the soup is generally a bit disappointing, but the sandwiches and melts are well worth trying. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly and efficient. There's not much choice in Dumbarton but Rigo's could hold its own anywhere."

"What is it about portions and cafes restaurants? How do you feel about this? Are you the type, who will automatically judge a place solely on the amount of food on the plate. I.e, that steak has to be the size of a small cow, or that piece of cake, needs to be something that could qualify as a Munro, with the corresponding documentary on the top 10 of cake Munros inside Scotland's cafes. I tend to be a “wait and see” type of person, as recent forays into cake shops cafes (particularly the Buttterscotch Cafe in Glasgow's West End), have led me to see that, at times, something smaller than normal can still have quite a punch both in taste and calories! This leads me to the Loch Lomond Homes Garden Centre, along the road leading out of Balloch, easterly, which I have frequented several times the last year. The portions of their sweets and cakes are the size of Everest. The corresponding pots of tea, could fill nearby Loch Lomond. And for a cheap cheerful (and huge) High Tea, you really must experience it. Try if your dare. Recommended."

"Today, I had my first experience at Haveli and it was delightful. Despite being initially hesitant due to some negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by the efficient and helpful staff. I observed one staff member consistently checking the food availability and communicating with the kitchen using a walkie talkie, a small detail that showed their attention to detail. Additionally, the option for free soft drink refills, including Irn Bru, was a nice touch not commonly found in other restaurants. The food was tasty with a variety of cuisines, making it better than many other buffets I have visited. Moreover, there are no other buffet restaurants in the area, adding to the uniqueness of Haveli. The only downside was the limited vegetarian/vegan options, although there are some options like veggie pakora, pizza, chips, veggie curry, and garlic mushrooms. Vegans may find it slightly challenging. Overall, I highly recommend giving Haveli a try for a pleasant dining experience."

"We popped in for lunch after driving down from Fort William on a Friday. The place was quite busy,with no booths available so we took one of the centre tables, but the very MINUTE another guest left she moved us to a booth by the...window. The first menu we were handed was the lunch menu, which offers 3 courses for £8. But being from the Fort where there are 3 TERRIBLE chinese restaurant we asked or the full alacarte. I ordered salt pepper chicken wings for a starter, and the Seafood combo, and his fine self ordered the oriental chicken noodle soup and a beef curry withh fried riice. My wings came and the portions were so large I shared with him! He throughly enjoyed his soup woth the oriental egg noodles an got some wings as a bonus-lol!Shortly after the waitress advised me that the kitchen was out of scallops for my combo, but offered me extra others in it which was AMAZING. It came out with a surplus of big fat juicy prawns, squid and mussels in a sesame sauce garnished with an edible rice flower truly outstanding! His beef curry was devine also, the onions in it were thick and sweet, and the curry sauce was just spicy enough with a light cinnamon undertone.Needless to say, we both hit the clean plate club and had NO room for desert! YUM YUM YUM! PS I used to live not far from this restaurant and their take-aways are just as good as their sit downs Always a treat to visit here!"
