"This Restaurant suddenly popped up in my FB feed, showing menus. My wife I decided to pay a visit this morning for a nice cooked breakfast. We were very pleased to find it was open and we did not have to make a reservation. We were warmly invited in and shown a table, drink orders taken and menus left. A few minutes later the coffee arrived and we ordered our food. I ordered the full breakfast with poached egg and my wife ordered eggs Benedict. Everything was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. I had another coffee before we settled up and left. A great find, next to the canal in Parbold."

"This used to be our local go to restaurant. Great service and food. We had many friends join us for breakfast, lunch, coffee and booked Christmas Treats here too. It isn't just the Lockdown issues that have badly affected this business. We found standards falling...and food not what it was before the Lockdown. we did want to support the family business here. SADLY, we have turned up to find the place closed (told it was quiet so they just shut up). No mention on social media of this. Menus were limited given issues, fine. We did comment on their own face book page making one comment about toast being placed on top f the full breakfast, but said the food was good quality. The comment was taken down by them: hence reviews there not a true reflection of all customers comments. Doesn't seem quite right as the comment was not offensive or over critical: simply said prefer toast served on a side plate Turned up for a coffee and a cake on Monday June. Arrived at pm. had a look at the displays (which a member of staff was wrapping in cling film) she has yet to speak to me, after waiting minutes a young man came to the till and said I couldn't order anything as they stopped taking food orders at and drinks orders at (it was at this point). No apology. I looked for a sign couldn't see anything. I do understand there has to be a time-limit on things but not very clear or helpful. On our way out we were asked by a member of staff at the Garden Centre Tills if we found what we were looking for. We took the opportunity to say about the timing of orders. She looked at her watch and said she was surprised they couldn't take our order as they should have been open at that time. We left unhappy. None of this makes any sense for a business trying to re-establish itself in my opinion. Grumpy and unhelpful staff in the Coffee Shop don't encourage our return. We have previously given really good feedback and recommended this place, sadly, not any more. Our advice: go somewhere else that values the customer and want's your business."

"Travelled over 45 minutes to meet up with some friends and go for a nice meal which had been recommended. The food was ok, the duck spring rolls could have done with some more duck in them as I thought I was having veg spring rolls. The only staff that smiled was the young females. The older men where very very rude, when we asked if they did a certain main after we couldn’t see it on the menu he said “yes, look at the menu”. We felt like we was being watched over and rushed. I would have returned as the food wasn’t bad, however I wouldn’t return now due to the atmosphere and service. If you are a regular it seems you get a higher standard of service. If you’re going get a takeaway if you don’t want to feel uneasy."

"We decided to stop by this restaurant without making a reservation first, and the hostess kindly found a table for the four of us. We were surprised to see that the restaurant had changed ownership since our last visit before lockdown. We ordered the tapas grazing menu and were blown away by the incredible food. The small plates were bursting with flavor and creativity. Each bite offered a tantalizing mix of tastes that complemented each other perfectly. We each had a starter and three tapas dishes, and also sampled each other's dishes - everything was mouthwatering. The salmon risotto was excellent, the pork belly was crispy and paired perfectly with the apple sauce and chipotle slaw, and the flank steak was cooked to perfection. For dessert, we had the orange amandine which was a delicious ending to our meal. The hostess was delightful, knowledgeable, and had a lovely accent. The entire staff was friendly, competent, and attentive. We sat outside, enjoying the warm night and watching the barges sail down the canal. We plan on organizing a family outing for my mom's birthday here next. Do not miss the chance to try this hidden gem of a restaurant."

"What an amazing find . Came today 10/08/23 with daughter and our 3 grandchildren all ate and delicious food. They have an amazing beer garden/children's play centre IE... bouncy castle wooden adventure frame sand pit and pool table obvs for older children (pool table) all set on canal. Extensive lager beer and cider on draught. What made it for me was my mini massage and ice cold Corona on draught. BIG SURPRISE was 2 amazing holiday let's with hot tub and BBQ provided Keeley owner of these properties showede round absolutely immaculate. Can't wait to book. Keeley make sure your brother there to give me a longer massage "

"we start with the good points. the food was great, the service was excellent and you were also a good choice to be with a gast ale on so everything in a big start. but in my view is a great omission of the...pub is the play area especially for families many of the devices are collapsed in an condition of unrepair the wooden bridge, swings are bound and out order, and sand pits without sand. it should probably be closed. it is a real shame, because if there is a thing that is missing the environment sevearly is a pub with a decent safe outdoor play area where families can relax. this pub has all the possibilities and reasons to offer a much needed facility and to fill a gap in the market, but sad as everything it needs a lot of investment. the pandemic will not have helped, but hopefully this will be something that will be addressed by the peculiarities in future plans because it could be a jewel. families will always want to come with the said we will certainly visit pure for eating and that is why I gave stars"

"My best friend and I went to this restaurant to celebrate our upcoming birthdays, but it was a very disappointing experience. The food was expensive and far below standard. I had to send back my main course after just two mouthfuls, and the replacement meal wasn't much better. The dessert was below average, with a chocolate sponge being passed off as sticky toffee pudding - the chef should be ashamed. The atmosphere was too noisy even with just a few people. Since new owners took over, the quality of the restaurant has really gone downhill. I won't be returning."

"Always enjoyed Mike's, not been since they got took over Went today , ordered a Chinese, sLt and pepper ribs , don't know any animal with ribs this small , more like knuckles there was no bone in them just like the grissel ends and it's all disguised by a coating , salt and pepper chicken was overcooked and the spicy noodles had no spice and raw onion , the special chowmein had no chicken or beef in it , it was just charsui with the odd prawn , with a little slab of ham charsui and chicken on top , 2 meals and a side and I had the pleasure of paying £22 for it aswell , definitely won't be going back , The fortuna is alot better for Chinese ."

"We have found the food to be quite nice here, a little expensive for what it is but ok enough to keep returning. However like others, we have found the service to be very poor. On previous trips we have booked and asked multiple times to be seated on a table with very good lighting due to a poor sighted family member but they haven’t bothered to do this. No difference on Saturday night when we walked past numerous suitable empty tables with the same number as our party only to be given a table in a dark corner. They refused to move us when we complained so we had to read out the menu which took quite a while. Service was rushed, they want you in and out with no warmth or friendliness. The first things we ordered were no longer available, menus were removed before we ordered and we were patronised by the waiter about how we described items to order. The food was average, calamari was bland and a vegetarian pasta dish was tasteless. Our evening was interrupted several times by the whole restaurant being made to sing happy birthday to various people, it reminded me of Frankie and Benny’s, to be honest I would rather of eaten there! Plenty of much nicer dining experiences in the area where you can easily park."

"Top quality fruit veg and bakery products. Lovely store with a great atmosphere and top quality products and a lot of local suppliers like Longley farm creams yoghurts and cottage cheeses (they are just the best you can buy) Staff very helpful and then when you 're finished shopping you can go and get other things you need from the other stores on site or go and grab a chippy meal in the fylde fish and chip restaurant Just went in today 19/5/22 and was impressed. They were disinfecting all the trolleys and baskets. I didn 't think any stores did that anymore. As a business owner myself I will say this store seems to have TOO MANY employees working especially in the evening time. I went in around 7.50pm and lots of staff twiddling thumbs hanging around. Three standing by customer service cigarettes kiosk etc and another three hanging around the tills talking to two other cashiers on the tills. No matter what time I go in I always find the most miserable unhelpful person working on the cigarette counter as they just don 't seem to want to serve anyone. I am just getting my lottery or maybe a newspaper and so many times I 've just felt like saying Do you know if its too much trouble to serve me then dont bother Having said all that other staff like on the butchers or bakery have been very pleasant and helpful and as supermarkets go the quality variety quantity and cleanliness is just the best"

"I visited this restaurant with my husband and father-in-law. I used my phone to scan the menu for allergens and found limited options for those with celiac disease. I ended up ordering a plain jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw, which was not very exciting. When I inquired about the cheese being sourced or grated in the kitchen, I was informed that it contained flour. The portion sizes were small and expensive, according to my husband and father-in-law. I was disappointed with the lack of vegetables with the cheese and onion pie, and I am unsure if the restaurant will update their menu to highlight gluten in their ingredients. There are more creative dining options available in the area."

"We stopped off at this establishment on spec. We went to reception and waited ............... The mature woman on the desk could plainly see us standing there but chose to ignore us. Eventually, when I realised that she wasn 't just finishing doing a task and that she was obviously deliberately ignoring us, I said excuse me to which she finally looked up. I asked where the restaurant was (as it wasn 't evident) and she directed us to it. We arrived at the restaurant and patiently waited at the desk for someone to come over. After waiting several minutes and watching several staff wandering around, none of whom even acknowledged us. Eventually, a girl came out of the kitchen and I asked if they had a table. At this point another waitress, who had passed us several times and blatantly ignored us, finally came over. But to be honest by this point we were well and truly fed up and very unimpressed by the blatant rudeness of the majority of staff we encountered. Never again! There are so many other places that are extremely welcoming that we will continue to visit and support. If you are happy to put up with being treated in this way, then good luck to you! But, if like us, you appreciate being treated with respect then I recommend you avoid this place at all costs!"

"Went for Lunch and we had drinks and sandwiches. Wasn't at all nice. The website makes it look amazing, so modern and appealing but when you walk in it's like a cafe in a market. Awful ! Definitely not a brasserie. My tea was in a very large catering silver tea pot that would have served 20 cups but only 1 cheap tasting tea bag. Cheap Cafe type cup and saucer. The sandwiches looked unappetising as I could have made better my self at home. It said homemade coleslaw but it wasn't. It was like Asda smart cheap watery coleslaw. The bread was nothing special, thought it would be different maybe homemade crafted artisan but it wasn't. Probably just supermarket bread. The salad looked sad so overall very disappointing and not enjoyable. I can say the staff are very nice and friendly and the service great. This place will probably suit certain types of people but certainly not for us. Will not be returning and would not recommend."

"Visited today as a family of 6 adults Initially waited to be served until another customer possibly a regular told a member of staff we had been waiting .When the food arrived it was well presented but on starting to eat it the food was only warm Carrots hard roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding hard to cut through .Had to ask for extra gravy as hardly any also had to ask for mint sauce for lamb meals After receiving 3 out of 6 desserts 1 was actually cold including the custard. After waiting for the other 3 desserts we called a young female member of staff who just looked at us blank until we said what is happening to the other 3 desserts she answered sorry the microwave is slow A family member then went to the bar told them not tobothrr with the 3 misding desserts and paid the In my opinion the overpriced bill .First and last time here"

"We booked the Saracens head for my birthday meal on Sunday. I have been there a few times, but my boyfriend had never been. I got the pate for a starter, which was delicious, and there was still a bit left on my plate, but I had ate all the crackers. One of the staff members came over and said she would get me some more crackers, which was lovely of her. My boyfriend got the soup, and he said he enjoyed it. I got the lamb roast, and it was just amazing. The lamb literally fell off the bone. It was just perfection. My boyfriend got the beef and said his was lovely also. Went ahead and got dessert as well. Key lime pie was gorgeous. Nicest, I have had, outside of Florida. Boyfriend got the chocolate orange torte, and it was to die for. Unfortunately, there was a table by us that did nothing but complain. Over the stupidest things as well. Felt so sorry for the staff. They were nothing but friendly and professional. Some people's just like to complain, I guess, but just wanted to say to the staff that they had done absolutely nothing wrong and you were all lovely. Some people are never happy, no matter how out of your way you go. Don't let them get to you."

"A pleasant little cafe in the heart of Ormskirk. I went there for lunch. As we entered they asked if we wanted food or just coffee. As we wanted food, they admitted that there would be a 20min wait. No big deal for us. In the meantime we ordered a coffee and got the menu's. The place is clean and the staff friendly. The food did indeed arrived within 20mins of order and was very nice indeed. Well presented and more than enough for a lunch. The coffee is excellent tasting as well, as are the festive options such as the orange Hot chocolate and the Toffee Nut Maple Latte. Our course of southern fried chicken burger with chunky chips was very tasty, We didn't use the facilities. If I was to criticize, it would be the size of the coffees, considering the price, and no option for a large version of the same. I would seriously consider having large versions for the price indicated, and cheaper option for the size of the cups provided. Overall though, the food was very good and good value. Just sort out the coffee situation."
