"Very disappointed to have to compose this review feeling like we have given The Wayfarer chance after chance but now enough is enough and I hope this review helps them to reevaluate their staffing and operating procedures. I would describe my friends and I as...regulars of this establishment and this is the last disappointing experience that we will be encountering. Our experiences are a catalogue of poor management, inadequate management training and generally poor customer service and a complete lack of gratitude for patrons that are supporting their business especially following such turbulent times as we have all experienced recently. To list a few examples: We were left sitting at the bar on one visit for a good half an hour having asked the manager for our bill to settle up and leave. It got to the point where another customer actually pointed out to the staff member that we were waiting to pay. Another evening we were sat at the bar. I went to the toilet and returned to find that one of the waitresses had clocked off and sat in my seat. Even though I had left my drink there and my friend was still sitting there. I reached over her to retrieve my drink and no apology was provided nor did she move. Also, the manager was also sitting with her. I would have thought that a better example could be set to your staff. Having had a busy day we arrived at and upon enquiring as to whether food was being served were told that the chef had gone home. To rub salt in the wounds we were then informed that food should have been served till but they had closed the kitchen early. Further salt was rubbed upon hearing the service bell and food then coming out to other patrons. Before the manager proceeded to clean down the bar and also before asked if we had any last orders! A great way to make your patrons feel welcome. The blunt conclusion is that we definitely won’t be returning and to be frank I would rather spend my money with a business that appreciates the custom and customer. I feel that my complaints are fundamental basics to the running of a successful and welcoming establishment. It’s disappointing to say the least that the standards offered here are deemed to be acceptable by the management and owners."

"We eat here weekly due to how good it is and today we had the fish pie and my partner had the steak burger. The burger was thick and full of taste and the bun fresh. We ordered onion rings and an extra chips too. The batter on the onion rings is so good. They melt in your mouth. So he was very happy with the burger. Now onto the fish pie…it was absolutely amazing! So many chunks of fish and prawns and in a creamy sauce. It is presented so well with mash on top in a pot and I think it maybe have had cheese on top too. There doesn’t look much but there really is and it’s really filling. We washed the meal down with Shiraz and Guinness and it was just lovely. They brought us a jug of water too. I decided to have a pudding and chose the egg custard with panettone. Wow! It was the nicest puddling I’ve ever had. Creamy egg custard and it was like sugared chewy toasted panettone cubes on the top. Just heaven. We retired to the bar which was busy with all kinds of characters and that’s what we like about this place you can wear what you want and feel comfortable. We are boaters so live in jeans/outdoor wear, jumpers and body warmers , but you have people dressed in evening wear, some in high visibility work clothes you name it everyone is dressed comfortable. Friendly staff as always and really attentive to detail so always know when your glass is empty. Only one minus here is that lots of people stand at the bar in the way which can be awkward when trying to get to it to get your own drinks but they are really friendly and polite so move over for you. No animosity here at all. We LOVE it! Thank you."
