"I popped in here as one does occasionally with family on Thursday 24th October 2019 just after midday. It is an unassuming place, looking like your typical local café, located on the corner as one half of a building which also consists of the Bon Bon Newsagents and Store next door. Firstly, this is not a disabled friendly building. Nothing here that is disabled compliant, however you can get a walker and a wheelchair up the step and through the two doors with assistance. It is also possible to put a walker (as long as they fold up) behind a seat while having a table, so 2 people with such would need a 4-seater. It is also possible to put 1 wheelchair in place of 1 seat at the main table (from a straight line from the entrance past the counter) facing the back of the café with moving the table behind. Provided the café is not packed and again with assistance. The owners are very good in respect of providing assistance and help where possible. Note also the furniture is basic, just tables and chairs. There is no inside toilet but one cubicle accessible outside via the back door. It can and often does get very packed as popular with locals, visitors, local workmen, lots of people. Access between tables can be narrow and one orders at the Counter, your order sans drinks is brought over. Why do I recommend going here? Never judge a book by it’s cover. Mistakenly passing on this place as just another greasy spoon is a tragedy. The secret is what its kitchen can do! Cooked Breakfasts, several set menus and a 7-item choice breakfast. Choice burgers, such as Cheeseburger Quarter pounders with all trimmings and Chips. The Specials board is a gem. Among others such as Faggots and Cottage Pie, when available are Roast Dinners. Such as I had today and one of the best you can get at any price. 3 vegetables, carrots, garden peas and cabbage with crisp Roast Potatoes usually in a giant Yorkshire Pudding (if not, like today a normal sized one). The Roast Beef is perfect and plenty of it, perfectly Roasted and melt in the mouth. A decent Coffee and Tea is served and Soft Drink Cans available from the fridge near the counter. Some menu dishes include tea or coffee. Some are also available like the Burgers to takeaway. In the evening after it closes in the Afternoon at around 2pm, it transforms in Al’s Tikka Grill, an authentic Indian Restaurant to reopen from 5pm. So, if want one of the best café’s around and it is nicely situated opposite Ashton Park. Staff are pleasant and I note a TV is on showing Sky Sports usually albeit no sound. I find the place nicely decorated with a mixture of local Bristol decor and Indian décor. The place is kept very clean which is always a good sign. You like any of the food mentioned, do visit and try their food! Better than several local, more expensive and more up market establishments, after all that is why you go out to eat isn’t it. Highly recommended by me!"

"a group of 6 of us went there on a Monday evening as there were good reviews. it is located in a next street, and the first impression was the datierte decoration. they have an extensive menu and many items are listed as vegan or can be made vegan. we had the opportunity to get in the ground floor near the beginning (which was above warm) or down (which was very cold, as there was no heating) so we chose the ground floor. the restaurant was pretty busy. they serve alcohol. on the menu is located cobra beer 1/2 pint, 1 pint and from the bottle. buy the bottle as there is much cheaper than the design beer. note that on the menu there are poppadums on two places mentioned. £1 for 1. or pay them £3,50 for two if they want something chutney with. they bring them the more expensive if they do not specify. I had punjabi samosas for the starter. they were in order, but I had better elsewhere. one of our groupings the bhel armi, but it did not happen until all others had finished their ancestors, but he said it tasted very beautiful. for the net I had the tofu massaman curry. in the round it consisted of large plates of tofu with some kartoffels in a green sauce. unfortunately my curry lukewarm was when it arrived, but it tasted ok. It was very mild and suitable for my palate. I had to order a part rice separately, and the part rice was bigger than I actually needed. my partner ordered the vegan thiali £17. we told the waiter that we were vegan when we ordered and the vegan thiali is mentioned specifically on the menu. when it arrived, it seemed to have milkrita as well as a non-vegan dessert. we asked the waiter if it was vegan and he said yes, then he reconstructed and took the dessert away to be replaced. he did not seem to be aware that the rita was not vegan. I checked with another employee who said that the rita they brought was not vegan and they would also replace it. another employee said they would replace the rita with a vegan version they did. it seemed just a waiter for most of the time to be, and he seemed to watch his time with headphones in and on his phone! overall eating was ok, the service was not so great. there are many Indian vegetarian restaurants in london and some with beautiful decoration and better eating."

"Unclean Premises When we arrived at Chapati Junction, all the tables were stained with food, many with plates and food debris still remaining. We sat at a dirty table but the staff made no effort to clean it until being explicitly asked. Improper food handling the staff member on duty conducted a call on his mobile phone while simultaneously preparing our food. Food only partially heated We ordered 2 veg samosas followed by 2 vegetable curries with rice. The potatoes were warm on the outside but still cold in the middle. The overall temperature of the food was tepid, lukewarm. The food had been partially heated by microwave into the ‘danger zone’ but had not been heated thoroughly. When this was raised with the staff on duty (as soon as we could get to the counter after another customer had ordered), we were told that the food wasn’t heated thoroughly because “some people don’t like it too hot”. Hair in food there was a thick, grey hair in the food, matching the exact length and colour hair of the staff member who prepared it. Aggressive staff When questioned about the hair, the staff member became aggressive and told us it was a slice of onion. Forced Payment In light of all the issues above, we did not feel safe eating at Chapati Junction and tried to negotiate a partial payment, i.e. we would pay for the samosas which were fine, but not the unclean, lukewarm mains. The staff member continued to be aggressive and told us we were trying to “rip him off”, so we paid in full and left."

"Before going there, we called the restaurant and asked the manager if they can host a table of 22 people, they were more than happy to say yes. So, we all went there and after placing the order for starters and mains this is how it went. It took them 45mins to serve the starters and when the food came, chicken tikka was cold and seekh kebab were hard, we ordered 7 mix platters for starters and only 5 arrived at the table. For mains, we had ordered 5 sajji (only 2 came), 3 lamb karahi and 3 chicken karahi, they served 4 karahi’s (2 each) 40mins after the starters had been eaten, they served karahi’s and then naans came 20mins after the karahis! Some of the guests on our table started eating their karahi with fork! The service was shocking x10, my dad and I kept taking turns to nudge the manager for food delay as guests were being impatient. The manager was too busy making waffles and cookie doughs for Just Eat orders! After 2hrs of hassling with the manager and food delays etc, we asked the manager if he has any desi dessert, he said he has nothing apart from ice cream which was not even made and said he can make a cookie dough but will be 5mins delay on each guest, which asian restaurant serves cookie doughs and waffles to the elderly? Anyway, we asked him to make ice creams which he started from scratch and served after 20mins! To top off the horrible service, food everything, I asked my dad to see off the guests into their cars because there was no way I was paying the full amount which by the way came to £437.98! My cousin and I asked the manager to compensate for such poor service and food, he said he can only bring down 10%, we then said it should be 30% off atleast he then started shouting at us and tried putting the shutter down at the restaurant and said he’ll find my dad and ask him to pay in the car park infront of the guests to embarrass him yes these were his exact words! Anyway, then it annoyed my cousin and I and we said calm the hell down, we will be paying but told him how inconsiderate he was being. We were about to pay then he started talking rudely to my mum and my aunty which really annoyed us and that’s when we told him to get his act together! We ended up paying 10% less. He also threatened to call police used some islamic terms on us etc etc. We also said to him if he could not serve a table of 22 people, then why did he say yes, it would have saved us an embarrassment infront of my sister’s in laws! Please DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. IT’S A JUNK YARD! Parking has no lights, no bays, there is garbage everywhere. Toilets are broken and dirty, service is shocking and food comes with ALOT OF DELAY."
