"We were a group of friends meeting up after 45 years of being Facebook friends and simply chose Il Gusto bc of its proximity to Paddington station. Online reviews seemed okay but boy, how wrong we were to book a reservation in this restaurant! Normally Italian restaurants are known for their friendliness and good service. Not here. I was the first to arrive, 20 minutes early bc my trains only run hourly. It was pouring with rain and so I was surprised that the waiter told me that I should return in 20 minutes. He was standing in a nearly empty restaurant with a few people already tucking into their lunch. I suggested I waited on the booked table, he said no table had been allocated. So I ordered a glass of wine and olives while I waited for my friends. To be fair there was a waitress who was friendly and seemed embarrassed by her colleagues offhandedness. When my friends arrived the service did not improve. Really, trying to take away plates when we’re still eating is the height of rudeness. The restaurant wasn’t busy, there were other people eating but the staff weren’t rushed off their feet. My family work in hospitality so I know a group of well mannered friends are normally welcomed, not least bc it’s very easy to upsell to a happy group. The starters were fine, but the mains were disappointing. Not awful just nothing to distinguish them. A further point- are the staff trained to deal with nut allergy sufferers? I’ve never has such a disinterested response from a waiter for years, even when I took out my epipen to empathise my point. So, in summary staff training is needed bc if it wasn’t for the fact we’d planned this meeting for some time we would have walked out to find another more welcoming restaurant. By the way I was so shocked by the trashed toilet door I took a photo."

"Last Friday morning I wasn 't really feeling my usual treat of a coffee so I thought I 'd nip into Juice Garden for a treat instead. This was my second time visiting, first time was just after it opened and I was impressed with the shop and the drink, but just hadn 't had the time to come back. Not going to lie, I find ordering here pretty awkward. I love the big menu on the wall, but found my self hesitantly standing in a group of customers in the middle of the shop who were all deciding what to get. I love that they have lots of options, but it was a bit too much for me (perhaps it was just my early morning brain function). I also really like they list the health benefits of each juice, but again it 's more reading to speed through while you 're queuing. Maybe I just need to pick up a take-away menu and pick what I want before I arrive! First visit here I panic bought a Protein Pig juice but luckily it was lovely! This time I was determined to have a better look at the menu before choosing. I ordered a medium Morning Juice (pineapple, apple, passion fruit) to go. I think the pricing here is a bit on the high side, but I get it if they 're ordering in fresh ingredients each day. I liked my drink a lot, and it was gone all too soon! As I 've said I 've visited twice now and each time I 've found the staff to be polite but a bit stand-offish. First time I just put it down to being a new shop but maybe not. When the girl at the till said there 's your drink (a totally innocent phrase) it sounded more angry than you 'd expect! Saying that it 'll not deter me from going back a third time! I really like the decor and atmosphere of the shop and would like to sit in and try some of their food or snacks with my juice next time round!"

"Sunday roast lunch on 29 July. Interior decor is nicely done, but the food was a great disappointment. I had roast pork, my partner had roast beef. The pork was OK, three small slices, not brilliant but acceptable, but the vegetables were unbelievably dreadful. The roast potatoes were white and soggy, the half parsnip equally so, and the cabbage was almost raw, more stalk than leaf. I asked for replacement potatoes, which were at least browned, but equally soggy, as if they'd been microwaved, not roasted. My partner's roast beef was also OK, not great, but same problems with the vegetables. Also, his plate of food was only lukewarm, almost cold. Regarding the drinks, my partner had asked for a large glass of dry house wine at £5.90. However, we were charged for the Pinot at £7.45. When we queried this with the waitress, she said the house wine wasn't dry, so she'd served the Pinot without any prior discussion or agreement. The service was acceptable, although we waited over 10 minutes for our first drink even though there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant, as we'd booked early at 12.15pm. We complained to the manager, who was apologetic and generous in the settlement of our bill. He offered a return meal, but we won't be going back. A roast dinner must be one of the easiest dishes to do well. It's hard to understand how this restaurant managed to get it so wrong."
