"Loves this place. Been going for a few years now, and every time were in bemi, we make a beeline. Super friendly team of people, and the food is fantastic value, and doesn't taste like cheap rubbish. The food (all food is freshly cooked for you, so although there is a little wait, it's not ping ping food! Meals are roughly £5 £7 for main dishes. Breakfast is between £4.50 and up to £6.50 depending on choices. They all include a tea or coffee, plus toast/bread/fried bread. So basic... Fried egg, beans, sausage, bacon, toast (or choice , and a drink for £4.50 and it's freshly cooked for you. Now that's value. A really nice mug of tea too. They leave the bag in, and will add more milk if you like it weaker.... We love a strong brew, and it was! Highly recommended and will definitely be going back for more (this was our second visit (original review .... Now been going years. Nice friendly staff, and a really clean cafe. Can get busy at lunchtime (12:00 14:00 ."

"I usually come here for lunch with a friend, but I was disappointed during my last visit. The restaurant was busy, with many young children at nearby tables. However, the service was lacking and the food did not meet my expectations. It appeared that they were short-staffed as we struggled to get anyone's attention to place our order or ask for the bill. Our meals were overcooked, which may have been due to them sitting on a heated plate for too long. Although the food wasn't terrible enough to complain and ask for a replacement, the overall experience has made me reconsider whether I will come back or look for another dining option."

"My mum and I came here so often as the food was always amazing and the service was great. We visited today when a young girl had cooked our food. My mum wanted a soft runny egg roll, instead we got a crispy egg and...they had not even offered a refund. The lady that served us was lovely. The manager didn’t even speak to us or apologise. I know people make mistakes but for not bothering to rectify the roll that was unedable. I don’t think we will be back."

"What a great family run pub! Eclectic clientele of all ages. Friendly welcome, with super attentive staff. Great food with a huge nod to their South African roots, but great traditional fare too. Smallish menu but that’s because everything is cooked fresh, be patient it’s worth the wait. If not go to the local Spoons or Harvester, you’d fit right in!!! There is a good selection of traditional ales, Peroni and Bira Moretti on tap for the more discerning lager drinkers, the Guinness is excellent too. If you ask nicely they’ll make you an Old Fashioned as well! These guys work really hard with regular quiz, DJ and live music events with a really chilled and friendly vibe. Great that my GF lives just around the corner … legendary for a local."

"Sweet staff. Very clean and well laid out space. Food is made with fresh ingredients and to order. Had the vegan breakfast, a GF cross bun, and cappuccino. Breakfast was quite satisfying: beans well cooked- creamy, not too sweet, nice portion; wilted spinach and grilled tomato was fresh and flavorful; hash browns were the best- thick, fried hard but not burnt, and fully cooked; mushrooms very flavorful but a little undercooked for my personal taste. Cappuccino was strong in coffee. Foam wasn't as smooth as I've had it elsewhere, but good strong coffee nonetheless. I'll come again during my next stay in Cov."

"Genuinely couldn't fault the experience. When I heard that the Drouthy had a new menu focusing more on a veggie and vegan base, I knew I had to give it a whirl. The starter of hot Smoked salmon with lemon creme fraiche and oatcakes was simple yet packed full of flavour. I could have easily have had 10 plates of that and been happy to give it 5 stars. My partner had the smoked duck and even though I have given up meat, I was salivating at the look of their dish. They assure me that it was as delicious as it looked. Served with lavender roasted potatoes (which I'm told were amazing and charred salsify. The mains were more than a match for the brilliant starters. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be get the beetroot risotto. Not being a massive fan of beetroot, I wasn't too sure about it. But the incredibly warm waiter (for my son's, I never got his name. I only hope he can forgive me if he reads this! assured me it was tasty. He was not wrong. Beautifully cooked vegan risotto with balsamic beetroot chunks, shiitake mushrooms and rocket, it was simply divine. WHEN I go back, I'll be hard pressed to go for anything else because it was so delicious. It was creamy, packed full of flavour and cooked absolutely perfectly. Just the right amount of bite, nowhere near being mush like you get in a lot of other places (who charge a lot more, by the way . Superb. The highest of compliments to the chef. I was so taken by my dish I forgot to ask how my partner's was until I had eaten all of mine. But their home made vegan tagliatelle had disappeared from the plate so it must have been amazing. I couldn't handle dessert so had a delicious ruby port (delaforce I think it was called , and I would also like to give credit to whoever came up with their wine list. It covered every single base and no-one could ever be disappointed. Finally, if you're ever in Elgin, please make sure this is one of your destinations. You will leave extremely happy."

"I made a reservation at the Barbican before a concert, which is conveniently close. Unfortunately, our booking coincided with a large party of 51 people that arrived before us, causing our food to take 25 minutes to arrive after we placed our order. While I have no complaints about the fish and chips—they were excellent—the delay took away some of the charm of our visit."

"We booked this restaurant through open table and was disappointed overall. The menu was not the same menu as shown through open table, it was extremely limited. However our party settled on the panko coated aubergine salad, the Cajun burger and the banyan currizza. The salad was enjoyable, the burgers Cajun coating was soggy and the currizza, which came with one of the curries of the day on top of a naan bread and melted mozzarella was cold. We notified one of two members of staff at front of house and this was dealt with straight away and very professionally. The rest of the party had finished eating by the time my dish was returned but it was kindly removed from the bill at the end. For this I would probably return, although it's more of a brunch time place, don't be swayed by the online menu."

"Called in on the 30th of December. Good selection of lagers including Estella and Warsteiner. The food was delicious curried parsnip soup for starter. The burger and Cajun chicken burger were both lovely and tasty but I have to say the stand out for me were the chips which were big chunky proper home made chips that appeared to be possibly triple cooked and just might be the best chips I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed with a nice roaring fire that was much appreciated as was the excellent service. We will definitely be be back."

"We were welcomed on our arrival my a cheery young girl behind the bar (no name, blue hair) who was friendly and helpful. We were a party of 5 plus a baby visiting for lunch, we were offered a choice of tables which unfortunately we had to wipe down with wet wipes and the beer soaked sticky chairs needed wiping before we could sit down. Great that high chairs were provided (also needed wiping down from food residue) our party included a vegetarian, GF, egg/dairy free and these were adequately catered for. The meals were ‘nice’ but unlikely to be freshly prepared and had a reheated vibe but the quantity and quality was reflected in the price and it was tasty. Baby changing as impossible given the size of the toilets but this was easily resolved by changing him in his pram. The Tap and Spile is in a great location just off the pier and handy for a spot of cheap lunch."

"When we visited the restaurant, it was not very busy so it's likely the kitchen wasn't too overwhelmed. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with the food. The haggis bonbons starter was lukewarm and the Caesar salad lacked flavor, except for the smoked chicken. The steak was enjoyable, but the gnocchi was tough and chewy, clearly not homemade (although it wasn't advertised as such). We ended up leaving most of it uneaten. The staff, however, were fantastic and very friendly."

"The service was lovely at My Thai but unfortunately everything else was not. The food was not thai food. It was as if someone googled a thai food menu and attempted to copy dishes but didn't read the actual ingredients. Seriously lacking flavour. The music was extremely loud, which caused everyone to yell in order to hear each other, making the dining room even louder. Also, €16 for a papaya salad is absurd. Especially when it's not an authentic thai papaya salad. Shame. But, other people seemed to enjoy it, so if you aren't looking for real thai food and enjoy the night-club ambiance for your dinner, this may be somewhere you'd like!"

"we went for a Sunday roast and the experience was just great. my own and my partner both went for the black bell option. the portion size was good and the accompanied veg was very nice. the only disappointment that was so hard was impossible to eat. I went for brownie with celestial sorbet, the honest is the best dessert I have eaten everywhere. I am not a big fan of the pub itself, but in any case to eat again."

"found this scenic little caffe below one of the backstreets right at the main square. the photos of the breakfast look very appetizing for a full English with gazed potatoes. server was pleasant enough. we have breakfast for American style and medium. the food came in separate, my wife received her five minutes after mine. a little knock was that during these five minutes other tables were served. I found that the speck on my teller was missing what was in the did a blessing in trim, because I can honestly say that this is the only time that I have eaten speck with absolutely no taste. a few other points, two of the pancakes of my wife were hard and unusable, the beautified ptotatoes from the photo were just cooked. in the did was the only article on the plate with great taste the sausage. this was a disappointment given the other independent caffes and restaurants that norwich has to offer."

"There are very few tables for eating as you would expect in a restaurant. Most of the tables are coffee table style and height with sofas and armchairs which do not make for a comfortable sitting position for a meal at all. There is a function room adjacent which is not used for anything but afternoon teas and this was not allowed for evening dining after asking for an appropriate height table. Staff stated that when booking the meal we should have asked for a proper height table!!!!!! That option is not available through Open table. Ordered wine and it was simply set on the table with two glasses and the manager just walked off without offering to taste or pour or even confirm that was the wine we chose. After our starters we were offered to move to a higher table to find that it was surrounded by soft armchairs which required extra cushions from a nearby sofa to try and raise the seating position not very successful and ended up eating dinner at almost chin level. Food was good although whilst it looked nice, trying to eat fish and chips from a wire basket was not ideal. Small pot of tartare sauce was only 1/3 full. Seafood chowder was delicious as was the Thai curry. Nobody followed up after serving to see if the food was to our satisfaction and we were only approached once when we had finished eating to see if we wanted anything else."
