"Great family Friday night out with excellent food on the first night of our holiday. Turned up without booking and we were welcomed and found a table. Friendly staff, and locals eating there (which is always a good sign). Highly recommended. PS although we ate at the restaurant, we noted you can get pizza to take away too."

"Booked for a Sunday lunch for four. Having looked ant the menu, and pucturs online, I was expecting small portions. As a result, we ordered a starter. This was a generous portion of soup, with some really tasty bread, and a small portion of hummus. This felt an odd combination, but it really worked. A short.while later, the mains were served. I was really surprised by the amount of meat. Everything tasted fantastic. I think perhaps a little more veg would have made an amazing meal perfect. Can't comment on the desserts, as none of our group had one, but everything we had, from the food to the service, was fantastic."

"my man and I visited for what we thought would be a nice relaxing Sunday evening dinner in our neighbourship, as we live near. but we immediately regretted the decision. the restaurant was completely empty (and we should have left after we had seen that. it was cold inside and there was hardly personal. we ordered a bottle prosecco, which took quite a long time to arrive, and were charged £40 for a bottle canti that we suspected that they had ran and bought next to the tesco. booze is always highly marked, but at least have a brand on the hand where the customer does not know that it costs £8 at tesco. the waitress did not even pour the prosecco; she brought the bottle and we had to pour ourselves. the appetizers were well presented and tastefully. the nets (steak and lamb and sides were very average; my lamb was barely dreaming, which meant that I had to eat it quickly, so I didn't have to eat cold lamb. £220 for an average dinner with a bottle cheap super market prosecco (oh and £10 for a bottle of still water! is simply absurd. we eat in michelin star high-end restaurants quite regularly that costs £500 for two people, so this is no problem with price. I've never seen anything about food quality, environment, service, general experience. Avoid this crazy overpriced place with average life means!"

"We booked a table for 2 on Tripadvisor early on a Friday night. We was doing a pub tour after so was a little earlier than normal . when we turned up the place was empty apart from 2 members of staff and some banging music which was being played really loud. when we walked in the music to my disgust was turned done and we was shown to our table. I asked for the music to be turned back up and it was however only a little. We was told that they had a party of 20+ later and they had booked the whole restaurant. We was never rushed and the 2 staff where great and made it feel like the restaurant was just ours for the night. Food was really good and wine was fantastic and they kept pouring . Price was good and will go back again when we have more time . The 2 guys on the night could have been serving their our friends you wouldn't have known . If in the area pop in a loverly little place"

"Exactly what you would hope for. Really tasty food, lovely atmosphere and service, relaxed and a thoroughly nice experience. I met a friend here (she has a 6 month old and I have a 4 year old) and it was perfect for both. Baby changing facilities in the spacious and clean toilet, a lunch box option for my little one and relaxed seating with plenty of room. Longholme Hash was delicious, I asked for mine with scrambled eggs rather than fried and it was scrummy. Will most definitely go again"

"Welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, excellent value, and friendly service. Impressive wine selection by the glass and a wide variety of gins. Started with chicken liver pate and wild mushroom risotto, both of which were fantastic. The risotto had a perfect balance of flavors and texture, while the pate had a strong taste, although it could have used a bit more dressing on the side salad. The steak and Carbonara were both well-prepared, with the steak and chips being particularly outstanding. The Carbonara was creamy and had a nice egg flavor, but the addition of chicken pieces was not necessary. For dessert, we enjoyed a delicious crumble with pecan topping and homemade vanilla ice cream, as well as a Cheesecake made with Merlyn liquer which was well executed but not a dish we would order again. The only downside was the table we chose near the door to the toilets, which caused a loud bang with each use. Despite this, we will definitely be returning for the fantastic food, service, and ambiance."

"We decided to give this restaurant a try as everyone raved about it, but we were very disappointed. Firstly, we ordered paninis and received sandwiches with fillings instead. The mac and cheese was overcooked with an overwhelming amount of paprika. We also ordered scones with cream and jam, but the scone was dry, the cream tasted synthetic, and there was only a small dollop of jam with no butter. Throughout our meal, we did not receive any pleasantries like "please" or "thank you." Despite requesting no salad, it was still included on our plates without being acknowledged. No staff members came by to check if our food was satisfactory. Overall, we felt that the £48 we spent was not worth it."

"as always has made it fun... the schnitzel top notch .... but for example for an salat with a few pekan nuts 18 euro.... is very tasty ...for water 11 euro per bottle more expensive than in 2 stars michelin restaurants... I told the waiter 25 euro drinking money... and it was calculated 25 euro for expenses and 25 euro service charge ...no warning what that should be. 2 glasses wein were simply gifted and calculated despite the announcement of my wife that she wanted nix more...."

"I came to this place with a lot of expectations. When you’re paying a certain price, you expect service and class. Instead the food was well below average, making me question how this place got so many good reviews. It was no better than canned food from M and S and was being masked as fine dining at the prices of fine dining. The one thing that made it worthwhile perhaps was the view, but it really stopped there. The artichokes we had were three canned artichokes on a bed of cream cheese. The fish was dry nasty stuff and the burger was dried meat smothered in mayo to mask its taste. A restaurant needs more than a view. By the end of it, I couldn’t finish my meal and my daughter gave up on the dessert. We are used to Mediterranean restaurants where usually the chefs strive to impress. So perhaps the expectations were too high. However selling that low standard of food at those prices are not on. They either need to improve the food or lower the prices substantially. The views were nice though and the bathrooms were clean. The manager present that day removed some items off the bill as I didn’t eat them, even though I didn’t ask her to which I appreciated."

"Food OK, crab cakes stodgy but tacos said to be good; grain salad stodgy and too salty, fish pie over salty, lobster tails good but neither of us wanted them swimming in butter, makes them difficult to eat with butter sloshing about. Fries good and crispy. Service somewhat erratic, it wasn't busy but took ages. Unlikely to go back"

"A truly painful experience. Waited over an hour for food with people who came in after us being served before us as our waitress obviously forgot to put the order through. Got sat next to the door on a chilly day whilst large groups of teenagers were in and out constantly vaping/smoking leaving the door open. Had to get up to close it all the time; luckily a family was sat next to us who tagged in with the door closing. It seemed tables just drinking were prioritised over people ordering food. And when we finally got our food I found a bit of metal Brillo pad/scourer in the chips. A restaurant run by children for children to get drunk on cheap cocktails, definitely not somewhere to go for dinner."

"Wow! How have I lived in Ilkeston all of my life and never visited this place! I knew it had a great reputation, but I had never gotten around trying it myself. The choice of food was a little limited, but I have to say, all courses that everyone ate in my party was extremely well presented, tasted fantastic, and received favourable comments and feedback. The staff were pleasant and attentative too, making for a great experience. The price was extremely reasonable too. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

"The food quality at this restaurant was very poor, with dry lamb skewers and chicken. The service was slow and inattentive, and the food seemed like reheated leftovers. The pitta bread was microwaved, and the chips had a bad smell of old oil. The Diet Coke cans were served closed and at room temperature, and the hummus came late. I dine out frequently and have tried many restaurants, but this was the worst meal I have had in a while, from South to North England. I recommend the kebab centre in New Haw for a far more tasty and succulent meal. I was very disappointed and will not be returning to this restaurant."

"I’ve not been to a Wagamama for a few years but if this place is a yardstick it has really gone down hill! The south Asian serving staff seem more interested in staring at customers than actually serving and our waitress has no idea on how to serve food! It’s simply thrown down at the end of the table and help yourself ! Appalling really. Katsu curry was decent … if you like sauce that tasted like it was microwaved from a tescos ready meal . Really enjoyed the chicken katsu was crispy. First meal I’ve had when I don’t want to pay the service charge it was that bad!"

"My husband and son and I decided to stop here for lunch one Monday. We arrived just after 12pm. Sat down, had our drinks and food order taken and my little boy needed to use the toilet. My husband took him to the public toilets which to his utter disgust where completely blocked and disgustingly dirty. He then tried to take him to the restaurant toilets and they where pretty much the same! Could not use them. He alerted a member of staff and it wasn’t even acknowledged and I took him to the female restaurant toilets which where not as bad but had definitely not been cleaned. We again spoke to what was meant to be a young girl duty manager. Her response was oh the cleaners mustn’t have been in?? Seriously? Is there not checks done before opening? If environmental health had of shown up they would have been shut down. We only ate our food because we had already ordered. My husband decided to email to advise of the dirty standards and never got a response, hence now the review. Absolute disgrace. Standards have dropped massively."

"Restaurant Review: We recently dined at this restaurant and had a mix of experiences. The food was truly delicious, although there were a couple of initial hiccups. My steak, which I ordered medium, unfortunately arrived well done. However, I want to highlight that it was replaced without any hassle, which I appreciated very much. That said, the prices are on the higher side. One downside was the service from our waiter, Noah. He appeared quite unfriendly and indifferent, which detracted from our overall experience. At one point, he accidentally bumped into my partner and placed the plates on the table rather roughly—behavior I wouldn't expect at a restaurant of this caliber. On a positive note, the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, which helped salvage our evening. In conclusion, while the food is excellent, the service needs to be more consistent and professional to align with the high price point."
