"The overall impression was really great, nice contemporary ambience, not too dark, not too loud, cozy-fancy. Very good wine map, also with wines from JUNG winemakers from Germany. Very good wine selection! Modern offers of dishes on the map: Good vegan and non-alcoholic alternatives on offer. The Lord of the Service was also really very nice and tried, but unfortunately also a little slow and spoiled. In a restaurant of this price category I expect to get the ordered wine at least before the first walk. Unfortunately we sat on dry for a very long time. He came again and again, was very nice and polite and brought us a bottle of water. Then a single aperitive came for a person at the table, then the greeting came from the kitchen. At that time, we had already pointed out that we still have no bottle of wine. That was really annoying. You want to kick in and start the evening. Also, he did not notice when the bottle of wine was empty, but has to reassure with the empty bottle. It can happen all times, but in this restaurant category this should not happen. The waiting for the drinks has unfortunately taken too much space when you sit in front of its empty glasses. In addition, we would probably have ordered a lot more bottles (and thus also left money) if we had not always waited for so long. The food was basically fine: The meat was super delicate, perfect! The salmon skin was, unfortunately, totally salted, we had to push it down because it was inedible. Without the skin, the fish was all right. Just the same then unfortunately also at chicken. The skin was so salted, it was only possible to push it to the side, the rest was then all right. We kindly pointed out the service and he reacted professionally, friendly and understandingly. I found it very pleasant. Thank you."

"We (family of four with a teen pre-teen are staying in Childswickham just outside Broadway for a weeks holiday so thought we’d try the Childswickham Inn Brasserie as we could walk there through the pretty village, it has great reviews and it’s dog friendly. We booked for a Friday evening and were given our choice of tables in the very pretty garden area. Everything about the place is wonderful. The pub itself is a lovely country style inn with a very warm welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor area is beautiful with a lit pergola under canvas canopies and very comfortable chairs and roomy tables. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful and made a fuss of our two Labradors. The food was superb. Honestly some of the best traditional-but-next-level pub fare we’ve ever had. I had the pie of the day which was lamb, husband had Cumberland sausages and the kids had burgers. All completely homemade, served quickly, fresh piping hot and with generous portions. Husband suffered from extreme pie envy when he tasted my dish! We couldn’t resist the puds so opted for sticky toffee puddings and chocolate brownie. Again, all homemade, generously portioned and utterly delicious. The food was so good we decided to spend our final meal here and opted for Sunday lunch. We all had sirloin of beef which were served with the best (and biggest! Yorkshire puddings we’ve ever had. We’re from Yorkshire and we know a perfect Yorkie when we see (and taste one and these deserve the highest praise. The beef was perfectly cooked, thickly cut and it melted in the mouth. It was served with a generous portion of roast potatoes, cheesy leeks (a personal favourite! , a selection of perfectly cooked veg lovely rich gravy. Desserts were equally fabulous. Genuinely up there with the best food we’ve ever eaten and exceptionally good value. I just wish it was closer to home as we’d be returning constantly! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Perfect food, wonderful service, lovely ambience and surroundings and great value, more than deserving of five stars. Thank you for two wonderful visits, you were a highlight of our holiday!"

"This was our 3rd visit to the Mad hatter, having previously been happy with our experiences but today was disappointing. The service was really poor, seemed almost unorganised no one person looking after our table, having to ask for basics like cutlery, condiments and sugar...for coffee etc, but even when you asked you had to wait it wasn’t brought promptly, just lots of waiting. From a food point of view firstly our kids wanted fries as a little starter as the real reason for the visit was a bank holiday pancake stack treat We ordered two lots of fries between the four of us, In the past fries have been served to us in a large enamel dish and you received a good portion of fries, today however it was a disappointing smaller portion served in a normal cereal size bowl, so it left us feeling short changed. When we placed the order for fries we asked for our pancakes to come out afterwards almost like desert, however the pancakes started to arrive straight away whilst we were still eating the fries. The pancakes however are the real reason for this review,. As a family we eat out often and don’t mind paying money for good food. At 8.95 a plate for the hotly advertised “summer special pancake stacks”, we were expecting some yummy fresh pancakes. however we were very very disappointed to witness the chef in the kitchen via the little window opening packets of basic shop bought small scotch pancakes, the ones you can buy for like 1 to 1.50 for a pack of 6. They were served to us on tea size sandwich plates and basically just smothered in sauce to hide how basic they are. The pancakes all arrived at different times not together, the kids arrived first, then after 5 minute wait mine arrived and then my wife’s sat on the side for another 5 minutes more while the rest of us ate, despite the chef ringing the little bell for attention three times, i almost got up to fetch it myself. (But I’d already done that for ketchup for the fries which we’d ask for and never got brought). Items were missing from the pancakes like Banana and Coconut from the “fruity feeling” pancakes which are two of the main ingredients on the toppings, when we told the waiter he did apologise and took them back but when they returned, coconut had been added but we were just told they were out of banana and no alternative was offered. The food tasted nice I can’t fault that it did taste nice, so in that respect we couldn’t complain but we paid 54 for two small bowls of fries and shop bought pancakes with LOTS of sauce, it really was over priced and as mentioned by another reviewer it’s style over substance, all Instagram ready but no real value. The management team need to take a look at how service is run, review prices or make fresh prepared specials to warrant to cost. This this will be our last visit to the Madhatter."

"After being to other Stable branches in the South West, our local Stable has remained a disappointment unfortunately. Our visits have declined based on the quality of food and standard of service. We opt for the vegan and gluten free choices and they do have a great variety of choices. However, I am not sure what ingredients specifically cause a problem, but we always walk away as a family with an unpleasant feeling in our stomachs. I think it maybe the vegan cheese, but we cannot be sure. Other vegan pizza's from other restaurants don't present this as a problem so it's unique to The Stable in our personal experience. Their vegan mozzarella is not the nicest tasting either to be honest. This Stable, as the others we have visited nail the cider, without a doubt it's the best place for a great range of quality ciders, hands down. Service is a problem in our experience and other people we have spoken with agree they have had similar experiences. Regardless of how busy The Stable is, they seem to be very distracted and we always get the impression they are trying to avoid us as customers. We always feel uncomfortable trying to get the staffs attention and it feels like we're actually an inconvenience to them. I have been in a few times for a quick pint and simply walked out again after staff looked at me without acknowledgement and then walked off. However, when you eventually do get the full attention of the staff they are very friendly and polite. So, it's a confusing and perplexing situation. But after so many visits, this is consistent and becomes too much of a unpleasant experience to want to expose ourselves to again."
