"We arrived in good time for our reservation having traveled up from London. Our table had a window view of the canal and tow path. Our waiter was friendly and was able to give us information on our choice of dishes. Our starters were quite good although the prawns were smothered in too much sauce which made for rather messy eating. Our main dishes were traditional British fare and included the Fish and Chips with mushy peas which were good and served in good time. The evening went well as the restaurant section of the pub filled up and this lead to a nice ambiance. The bill for four was quite reasonable considering we enjoyed two bottles of their New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. We would certainly go back when we are in Birmingham again."

"Great place for dinner, my friends and I, we had a great experience at Sophie’s on last Saturday. The cocktails and the food were absolutely amazing. I had the gnocchi, and I’d definitely order again. The place has a nice atmosphere, it doesn’t even look like we were in Dublin, and the service was impeccable. We were served by a nice and friendly asian lady, who took good care of us. The management was also good, we arrived at the front desk and we didn’t wait too long to go to our table, everything was prepared and waiting for us. Everyone was very professional."

"the seasons are a long, established, beautiful restaurant with excellent home service with extremely competent and helpful staff. the chef rodger has a strong focus on the use of local producers and consistently offers very good quality imaginative cooking of a high standard. it is our favorite restaurant in the Scottish border and would recommend a visit to this small friendly restaurant. they are open only Friday Saturday and Sunday, but best to check the website. they also offer some ready to house meals together with brot, chutneys bakery and desert that can be ordered on the line. all these dishes are of a high standard."

"Lost count how many times we have visited Sidmouth, and one of the main reasons for going is down to Neil 's Restaurant, which in itself says it all. Last week we only managed 3 visits trying to go through the menu, spoilt for choice. We have never been disappointed with any course ever. In fact quite the opposite. The food is freshly cooked with some gentle exquisite sources, plenty of fresh vegetables and special deserts. The staff are great, efficient and friendly, its a great atmosphere. Super quality food at a sendible and reasonable price. One of the telling points is that they were full every night they were open, which is why we could only get in 3 times, luckily we had booked the 3 well in advance. Its an asset to Sidmouth, and you could well understand if estate agents put them as a local asset in the amenities of the particulars of property for sale, could increase the region 's already high property prices, wish we lived near by."

"Where can the current menu be found ? Update 6/12/23 Called in for lunch yesterday around 13.30 had trouble finding a parking space, luckily a couple who were shopping across the road, not from the Red Lion went back to their car and vacated the space for us to pull into. That was one hurdle over, walked into the pub expecting it to be packed solid due to the volume of vehicles in the car park only to find a handful of locals at the bar. Tables and chairs were plentiful, but no sign of any food about, being eaten or otherwise, no sign of cutlery, condiments or anything else that implied food was for sale. Previous reveuwee’s state nice food and give high scores , fail to understand this. To all intense and purposes this was a pub and nothing else even though there was a sandwich board at the roadside,needless to say we left and had a nice all day English Breakfast at The Cabin B o C. So really you did us a favour."

"Had dinner here prior to going to the theatre. Glad we booked as busy . Service was efficient meant we had time to share a desert which we were pleased about as when portions of tiramassu passed our table earlier in the evening looked yummy and it was . "I recently stayed at this charming pub with friends for four nights to celebrate my birthday. It has a lot of character and the staff were incredibly friendly. The accommodation was excellent, and there was a great selection for breakfast, as well as a varied dinner menu. I will definitely be returning and would wholeheartedly recommend it to family and friends. Lastly, a big shout-out to Kim—she is truly an asset to The Ship Inn!"

"Ordered for delivery and let me tell you something: I don't think I've eaten such a good and original kebab in a long time. First thing you see it's branding on all packaging they provide, nice touch and stands out from other places, but what important food was so good. Hummus was great, quite oily with good texture and served with peanut pesto but really kebab was what stolen the show for me. So tasty, full of flavours, original taste, fresh ingredients and sauces, would like to know what they are. It's not very spicy but in this case I liked it even more. Give them a go if you are looking for a change from your normal boring kebab place."

"We ate there as a group of eight on a Friday evening. Very nicely laid out place with a great interior and tasteful decor. Waiting staff were all really nice and attentive and knew the menu inside out. Myself and my partner were really happy to see they had a vegetarian/vegan option for main and starter and also three other plant based options on request. They happily veganised some side vegatable options we ordered for the group table and nothing was made to feel like an extra chore. Everyone else was happy with their meat dishes so thumbs up all round. Portions were very generous and all the food was local fresh and very delicious. Top marks and many thanks. Would definitely recommend and return again if in the area in the future."

"We came here for a family lunch on Sunday 1st September and had a really great experience we were seated on the roof terrace, which was lovely given the great weather, and the food and drinks were all of a really high standard, and were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. However, the other stand out here was the service, so a big shout out to Emily Farrow, as she was simply brilliant nothing was too much trouble, she was so friendly, remaining professional and polite, and it is only when you receive such good service that you realise what a difference it makes to the overall experience, so great job!"

"We an absolute gem of a spot. We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. "It would have been stars across the board but for the noise level from a party of that arrived whilst we were tucking into our main course. No fault of the restaurant as business is business and recovering from the pandemic, the management and team at Sai has worked extremely hard to service the clientele…it was just the fact we needed to shout at each other to hear ourselves that knocked a star off for me. "Absolutely amazing from start to finish. My girlfriend booked for my birthday. We‘re both vegan and everything we had was delicious- esp the lasagne! They even have vegan Parmesan!! Not only this but the wines were labelled vg too. We went midweek and although we were running late and had to push the table back, we never felt rushed. Really enjoyable experience and relaxed atmosphere. To top it all off, they brought out a sorbet at the end of our meal and had wrote happy birthday in a fruity sauce. Highly recommend this restaurant Thank you so much."

"We dined on the Saturday evening 4 days before Valentine's day and thought it would be busy. There were only two other couples in the restaurant so there was very little atmosphere or ambience. The service was excellent. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. We had 3 courses from a fixed menu with a good choice of locally sourced produce. My husband had the fish which he thoroughly enjoyed and I had the fillet steak (rare) which melted in my mouth. Overall the price we paid including drinks was very good value for a wonderful meal."

"I've been going after shante for a few years and I'm sorry to check it out as okay, but it's not what it used to be. eating the same tapas menu has been for several months and not particularly interesting for vegetarians. I ordered a special tapa of garlic bread with chili and rocket disappointing the brot was thin cut and rocket was yellow and shoved. I was surprised that everyone cook with self-esteem was happy to use it and that the waiting staff did not ask it. it was a special one, if ingredients do not take it up to scratch!"
