"I first came across Lush Bar Restaurant in Barnstaple during a holiday in October 2022. I had tried to quickly research somewhere that did a tasty Sunday roast and also allowed dogs and this place came up had decent reviews. On that first visit last year, I stopped by and asked if a table was available and was quickly accommodated at a large table inside near the window. I was clearly lucky on that day with there being a spare table. I ordered their vegetarian roast which came with the usual trimmings (roast potatoes, root vegetables and a large Yorkshire Pudding and extras to include green beans, cabbage and a generous portion of cauliflower cheese. As I am holiday again in the area, I had decided I would like to re visit and have Sunday roast here considering it was still offered. I popped in 2 days earlier to make a booking and was advised to book online and requested the lower bar area as this is the section that allows dog. I arrived 5 10 mins early today as like to be on time and was told there were no tables free despite having just accommodated another table of 2 with a dog in that section (they had not booked). I explained once again that I had booked the lower bar area and was happy to wait for the time slot booked, the front of house lady checked my booking details and asked me to wait. I saw her asking another table of 2 to move to the restaurant area so that I could be given their table which was in the section I had booked. Therefore the initial experience on this repeat visit was not ideal or friendly service from front of house lady. I ordered the veggie roast again which I enjoyed but not as much as last time. The actual nut roast lacked flavour, the potatoes was over done and not as soft inside, less veggie gravy provided (probably could have tried to ask for me) and reduced portion size for the cauliflower cheese. This is clear from the photos from last years visit when compared to today. On this visit I also stayed for a dessert and chose the Lush brownie this was a nice choice and was not only well presented but tasty. Getting the bill today required having to ask twice so service was not ideal today but would still consider choosing Lush next time. I think customers who have booked should not be left feeling they are being turned away."

"We were visiting the lakes on holiday with friends and decided to book lunch as a meeting point. Myself my husband arrived first and were given a lovely table on the veranda overlooking the lake. There was a speedboat taking people out in rings on the lake which was fun to watch. Our friends were held up by traffic and were almost an hour late, but the staff were so friendly and chilled and we weren't rushed. Service was at the table and it was prompt, professional, but friendly... Once our friends arrived we all ordered sandwiches with chips and the food was fabulous, I particularly enjoyed my salmon sandwich, the portion was great value. We stopped by again just for drinks over the same weekend and sat down on the decking right on the water which was also great. I would absolutely recommend coming here if you're visiting the area, but book if you want food as It's not a huge restaurant and i noticed most of the tables were reserved."

"Almost hidden away in Hammersmith's Black Lion Lane The Carpenter's Arms clearly has a reputation, to judge by how busy it was for a summer Sunday lunch......with the added attraction in good weather of one's being to sit in the garden area outdoors. A magnet for families, certainly, though a downside might be the consequent and unabated noise. The changing menu offers well-prepared and flavourful staple dishes, a hearty Sunday roast of slow-cooked pork belly being the focus of my own visit. Plates arrive loaded, my own dressed with a crowd of accompanying vegetable roasts including a carrot that had clearly vied for best place. If I say that the restaurant was busy then service, no matter how friendly, was certainly slow. Compared to prices charged at pub/restaurants with more pretentious profiles, prices here are relatively modest, and yet appetites are by no means short-changed. Worth a visit."

"I had an amazing dining experience at The Green Man! I was looking for a place to eat with friends while on the road and stumbled upon this gem. The interior is gorgeous and we were warmly welcomed with a big smile. We had the option to choose where to sit, as it was a quieter time of day. The food was so delicious that we ended up having three courses! It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The old pub had a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, beautifully decorated. The owner, who served us, was so accommodating of our dietary requirements and was incredibly lovely and interesting. We tried to tip her but she refused, insisting it go to her staff who she was very proud of. It was heartwarming to hear about what a wonderful team they were. Thank you for a great experience! Kudos to the chef! You have definitely made it to our list of favorites."

"Warmly welcomed and served promptly and pleasantly after being seated. Our waitress was very helpful and well informed and provided various options/suggestions. Meal was very good and well presented and served promptly. Only issue was we had hoped to have coffee at the end of the meal. This was never offered so we decided to pay up and leave."

"Have been several times and it has always been excellent overall. However this Sunday lunch today was rather underwhelming something was missing and I’m not sure what it was, have they become a victim of their own success like so many good, new, eateries? The starters were tasty but not at the level of previous visits, same for mains too. Our main courses of half pot roasted pheasant were very tough they should’ve melted in the mouth if roasted slowly which clearly they were not. With hindsight we should’ve rejected them and chosen another dish, but with friends joining us for a birthday meal it would’ve held up their main courses. I mentioned this twice to different staff members who asked, but with not much comment but, that ‘they’d relay it to the chef.’ Puddings, again, were not as good as previously ‘heavy ginger sponge’ (my wife’s comment) and a very sweet cows curd and honey glazed walnuts concoction that I had. Was is just because of Sunday service, was the chef ‘off’ his game or was it a sous chef standing in?? Is it really too much to ask of a bill for £260.00? Disappointing."

"Bank Holiday Monday in Stamford. Most places are shut, and the town is a lot quiter than usual... My wife is MADLY hungry, and insists we choose somewhere QUICKLY (this isn 't a request! , so we head into the very first place we come across No1 Kitchen. We 'd glanced at the menu on the way in, but our only real concern was that it was open, and it had food. A very friendly waitress showed us to our table, in a lovely corner spot, and I availed myself of the facilities, which were spacious and pristinely clean (something of a 'yardstick ' for us in terms of a well looked after restaurant... The waitress was soon back for our drinks order, and once she 'd delivered our Cokes we went for the Hot and Spicy Burger, with twisty fries, and a Mediterranean Lamb Burger, with corn on the cob. This too arrived promptly, with various Heinz condiments, and everything was hot and fresh! Both burgers were utterly SPLENDID, and we agreed they were The Real Thing, and particulary suited to discerning adults. There were PLENTY of twisty fries, which were crispy, well presented, and nicely seasoned. The burgers were deceptively filling, and my wife couldn 't quite manage hers, but even whilst eating we were planning our next visit, to try out other burger options. Overall, this was nothing short of a Perfect Lunchtime Visit, and we 'd enthusiastically recommend it to other burger lovers! Even if I tried my hardest, there was absolutely NOTHING to fault about this gorgeous restaurant, and we 're amazed to have never seen/visited before. It won 't be long before we put this right..."

"We celebrated my birthday dinner while in Newport, and it was fantastic! My partner accidentally ordered the kirsch garlic bread and wobbly rings alongside our main courses, and we were both shocked at the portion sizes when our meals arrived. I didn't finish my main dish because I wanted to save room for dessert, which was also delightful! The service was quick, even with all the food we had."

"Have to visit the oldest restaurant in London if you visiting. It carries that historical feeling being there and appreciating the stories those walls have heard. The leg of rabbit and the steak and kidney pie were amazing. There was no room for appetizers during that visit. The rabbit was tender and had no gaminess at all. It was like a leg of tender chicken. The winner was the steak and kidney pie though. Excellent crust and flavor. Paired with some mustard for a kick is the way. The courgettes with tomatoes was a surprise hit and I encourage that to be included in any order. The cocktails were well done and I would visit again. The sticky toffee pudding was a bit burnt but not bad. The vanilla ice cream on the side helped. This was the first crumble I have had in London and it was pretty good. 2024.07.03"

"The building and dining environment with the open kitchen and vaulted ceiling add to the atmosphere here. Food is good and well priced, service is spot on. They have some good lunch and pre-theatre offers. We opted for a starter of Pate and a Caesar Salad, mains of Mixed Shellfish Platter and Rigatoni Agnello from the main menu, followed by Pistachio Profiteroles, which was a huge portion that I struggled to finish and an Affogato dessert."

"Myself and my partner stayed for a weekend break and were met by Jade one of the owners and shown to annex which was beautiful and bed was extremely plush and comfortable. The kitchen area was complete with a fridge full of drinks and local milk. In the evening we dined in the restaurant and it went from being a lovely stay to an amazing one as the food was epic and I could do a separate review for on its own, suffice to say we can’t remember having a soup that was smoother and fish (Stone Bass) was incredible. There are a couple of walks within a couple of hundred metres that are really picturesque and a farm shop that is only 5-10 minute walk away that does brilliant coffee and has pop up food stalls on a Saturday so you can really have a relaxed time and not need to drive anywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning and the new owners have done really well in such a short time."

"Nothing thrilling at all the are better restaurants at this price point. Starters arrived in about 20 mins, our drinks after 40 mins, reason was there were groups of other ppl ordering drinks and I guess they considered them move important. When I made the booking that my wife is pregnant and it’s her birthday. There was no effort made on this point throughout the entire visit. My chicken ballotine was dry as was my wife’s chicken milanese. I came here years back when it was good and busy. Now it’s lame tired and under staffed. Save your money and go elsewhere like the Brooks restaurant or the Victoria, both are close by and will be much better in food and service. "I haven’t had the opportunity to try out the new Plants by de yet, but I went to the deli two years ago and enjoyed the food experience very much. I am a big fan of Ella and loved trying out her wonderful recipes at the deli. The space was beautifully decorated with such an inviting and cozy atmosphere. It had lots of natural light, which made the place seem bigger. The service was alright, but the prices were a bit expensive. I had the corn fritters with smokey baked beans and avo smash for lunch simply amazing! I couldn’t resist, so I tried the peanut cookies and the banana bread also, which were just as great. This was undoubtedly one of the food highlights of my London trip. Everything was as delicious as it looks! I’m excited to try out the new place soon and to update this review then!"

"As a local, I've been dining at the Duke for many years, but my recent lunch made me question if it had changed hands, such was the difference in the food and service and not in a good way. The portion sizes versus extortionate...costs is nothing short of daylight robbery, and the food was bang average at that. The service was painfully slow and our waiter looked so miserable it almost put me off my lunch. When everyone is being squeezed by the cost of living and going out for lunch becomes a treat rather than the norm, it's just so disappointing that my local I have supported for many years, has decided to increase its profits at the expense of loyal customers. I will not be going again, and recommend that you find somewhere else to enjoy a good, hearty pub lunch where the food tastes great and the staff are pleased to have you there. There are hundreds of great pubs in Surrey, sadly this is no longer one of them."

"I’m always a bit hesitant when it comes to good Italian food, especially since trying it in Italy, but this place met my expectations really well! I had ordered Pasta all’Arrabbiata and it was delicious. The sauce was perfectly balances with the right amount of chilli, garlic and olive oil! My partner also really raved about their Diavolo pizza We liked this place so much that we went there again for our last meal in Edinburgh! Would definitely recommend! PS. It can get quite crowded, but the staff is very friendly and helpful!"

"Booked this place for 8 people to celebrate a Graduation. Off to a bad start, no-one greeting guests at arrival and was left standing for at least 5 minutes before a waitress who seemed to have an attitude finally showed us to our table. Service was ok to start with taking drinks and main meal orders reasonably promptly. However when the drinks arrive there was an extra drink that no-one had ordered. The main courses then arrived in dribs and drabs with at least 10minutes(possibly longer) between the first dish arriving and the last one, by which time the fist dishes had cooled noticeably. Food was ok but nothing special. Make sure you check the menu and prices before you go as the costs can quickly escalate. Also we had one guest who likes to enjoy their food and takes their time eating it. This didn 't stop the staff clearing the rest of the table leave this one individual still eating, felt completely inappropriate and a clear sign to get a move on. Ordered desert which again was ok but nothing special. Then the fun of trying to get the bill and pay for it. Our original waitress seemed to have disappeared and finally managed to attract a member of staffs attention from the opposite side of the room. Asked for the bill and eventually someone came over with the bill then walked away. I assumed that they were away getting the payment reader but no. Had to finally flag down the Manager and asked to pay. He did return with the card reader at least. Spoke to the Manager on the way out and expressed our huge disappointment and clearly stated that this would be our FIRST AND LAST TIME . He offered an apology but by that time just wanted to get out of the place. No I would not recommend this place!"

"Wow what a fabulous pub. We had booked for Sunday lunch for 4 of us. Had not heard of the restaurant before but was half way from our friends . What a gem! It’s was full of arrival so that’s a good sign! Quite a small car park but managed to get a space ! Sunday lunch the roast was huge my husband and friends said the beef and pork was amazing and the yorkshires were massive ! I had the trio of fish (pescatarian) it was delicious and I couldn’t finish it. Desert lovely treacle tart and sticky toffee when down a treat! We all rolled out of the restaurant ! All the staff were said friendly and attentive we wasn’t left with an empty glass and didn’t have to wait too long for lunch. Would highly recommend."

"DONT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES! OR WANT QUALITY FOOD AND SERVICE! What a shame! I am coeliac which means I can’t eat gluten which was explained yet you bring me a meal with a Naan bread on despite explaining that I can’t eat gluten. That meal gets taken away and so do my poppadoms. I have always been ok with poppadoms as they are made from rice flour but apparently I can’t eat them. So I have a delayed service, a man who serves me to find out if I can eat poppadoms but never returns. Where did he go? And I am told by the man I complain to that “he’s not very good!” Like that makes it ok? And when I complain I am met with rudeness and being told I am in the wrong. Why should I pay full price for such shocking service . Food was pretty standard and tbh I could cook better than that, think Wetherspoons and not homemade. What a shame , especially rudeness from the staff member. That was very upsetting."

"I visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday and it was fantastic. The decor was fabulous and the menu was unique (I've never paid for something using feathers beaks before). The staff were kind and attentive, asking about any dietary allergies or preferences. I regret not taking a picture of the food as I was too busy savoring it. The fries were especially delicious! I would highly recommend this place and will definitely go back again."

"for decades my wife and I lived in the northeast and visited Blanchland, which went into lunch, was definitiw nostalgie. we found all the changes for the better (e.g. heating that was no longer ineffective or too hot). we only needed a light lunch so we could get for ham hock chicken terrine and a beef with horseradish sandwich. the former (obvily home made) was a good part with excellent toast and chutney, while the sandwich had several layers of bark (which was done as much as desired). eating was washed with glasses of merlot and shiraz both good quality. it may not be the cheapest of lunchtime, but the bar was comfortable, the service was good and the quality of lunch meant no complaining of us."
