"Wow these guys were run off their feet. Saturday night. We were a table of and there was a group of about who were there for a works do with buffet.The bar was heaving, the poor staff worked incredibly hard there were only of them that we could see in total to run the bar and serve food and the food was good.We were disappointed that none of the sharing platters were available and a large number of starters, mains and desserts had run out...for a table on a Saturday night this seemed to be poor planning with the ordering. For a two course meal we were in the restaurant for hours! Served with a smile though and we did leave a monetary tip as they tried hard to make our night out as good as they possibly could"

"Very warm, welcoming and cosy bar/restaurant. Attentive staff. The interior is well designed. The real log fire and fairy lights add to the magic. Unfortunately the chicken sandwiches didn’t quite hit the mark. They were unimaginative required seasoning and didn’t live up to expectations. The mustard dressing was oily and the advacado was scraped on and off, chunks would have added interest as would a dollop of good old tomato salsa. Nice thick sliced extra soft bread would be easier to eat than hard extra sour dough . The coffee is very delicious. I will be back for more."

"Starter was overcooked and not as described on the menu. Staff seemed unable and unwilling to do anything about it, despite the plate being practically untouched when they cleared the table. Main course was fine but portion sizes seem smaller than on earlier visits this year. Would not return as this venue appears to be going downhill."

"One of the worst meals we 've ever had. Food was either burnt, cold or not brought out with the rest of the party 's meals leaving 1 person without and the rest feeling guilty for eating. The Yorkshire Puddings were so bad it became funny, they were either flat and as hard as a saucer or black as coal. The Menu is misleading to the point of borderline Trade Descriptions taking an interest. The Rustic Skin on Chips were chunky oven chips with no skin on. The honey roasted carrots hadn 't ever been introduced to a drop of honey. Waitresses were nice enough but the service wasn 't great, plenty of empty glasses and no one asked if we wanted anything else. Put it down to understaffed and over worked. Waitress and a Manager did attempt to appease by taking items off the bill but it didn 't really cut it, we 'd all had enough and just wanted to get out of there. Never going there again, such a shame though because everyone I spoke to said it used to be nice. Ah well."

"I've been going into honey bees for a few years, now just on Sunday, the roastings were always nice with fresh vegetables that are well cooked and tasty and I'm really looking forward to, unfortunately this evening the food was terrible, the Petersnips were rock-hard like the roast potatoes. The Yorkshire was unusable, I couldn't cut it with my knife or even try to tear apart, the cauliflower cheese was hard and tasteless, I don't like to complain, but if someone says something then how can you change. All that said the service was great, as always so no other complaints, but I don't think we'll come back when the roast all improves around its previous standards."

"My family and I decided to change it up and try something different from our favourite family pub in Chorlton and glad we did. The place felt warm, homely and inviting. They allow for dogs which adds to the ambient mood in the pub The food and service was great and really couldn't fault the service. We had what I believe was the restaurant manager and he was very polite and courteous. The general staff who served us the food was also the same. The food was lovely and both my boys ate all their food. I thought the children menu pick and mix meal was something different and refreshing. Overall it's a cracking family pub hidden away in Lymm."

"Most of the food was really great. My signature burger in particular was amazing and all the chips were spot on. My wife's roast was the only slightly disappointing bit, the vegetables, including the roast potatoes were all a bit soft and she said it seemed like it had all probably been sitting around being kept warm for an hour or two, which I guess is very possibly the case with a Sunday roast cooked in large batches and just plated up when needed. Service was also great however and the lady who served us was very helpful and attentive. We'd definitely come again but maybe not specifically for the Sunday roast."

"we often eat in another vintage inn pub. we ate in the snowy owl for a change as we traveled another route. we were disappointed by their inflexibility over the menu. the vegetarian options are a bit limited. I asked if some different vegetables (which were listed elsewhere on the menu) could be added as pizza toppings. Apparently this was impossible(and obviously this came directly from the cook we were disappointed."

"1 1/2 hour slot to eat three course Sunday Lunch. This was fine as the food came out very quickly. Starter was Lobster and Prawn Cocktail. Nice size and tasty but a bit drowned in rose marie sauce. 2 Adult and one child roast beef was very nice. Nice Yorkshire. Good portion size and lovely well cooked tasty veggies (Cabbage, carrots and parsnips) . Meat was good also and plentiful. I always want more gravy than provided but forgot to ask when delivered to the table and the server didn't reappear as they are so busy. Only small issue is we would have had a pudding but had 15mins left to leave the table and didn't feel we could order and eat in that time period so left that out. Other wise very much enjoyed the visit and thank you for the hospitality."

"A good sized pub next to the canal, friendly staff. Fantastic sweet potato fries. I would book a table and check when serving food as they don’t always serve food outside. Went here twice, first time was okay, the second time was better and we tried a third (those sweet potato fries), but we were told we couldn’t have food outside and we had our bikes so had to move on. Really does have a nice outdoor area along the canal. Would love to see a few more veggie options."

"Have used this restaurant a few times now and always has been ok. Sadly on our last visit, after the main course, we asked for the dessert menu. The menu came, but no staff approached to ask for our order. There was a large birthday party group, who arrived after us and the staff concentrated on them, rather than concentrate a bit more on the customers who are already dining. After waiting quite a while, we decided to forget the dessert and leave. Upon paying, I mentioned the lack of service to the bar manager. His reply was that they were busy. If you know you are having a large group, get more staff !!!! Our small family dining, was also my birthday. Sorry but on this occasion, you let down customers and yourselves. Give yourselves 5/10"

"We had a 1 1/2 hour time slot to enjoy a three-course Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The food came out very quickly, which was a positive point. The Lobster and Prawn Cocktail starter was a nice size and tasty, but it was a bit drowned in rose marie sauce. The roast beef for two adults and one child was very nice, with a good helping of Yorkshire pudding and well-cooked veggies (cabbage, carrots, and parsnips). The meat was also good and plentiful. I would have liked more gravy, but I forgot to ask for it when the food was delivered, and the server was too busy to reappear. The only small issue was that we didn't have time for pudding as we had only 15 minutes left before we had to leave the table. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and thank the restaurant for their hospitality."

"Lovely pub. Good quality food. Its nothing 'special' but in a good way! Have always had consistently tasty meals. Not loud atmosphere just the general hubbub of people eating in a restaurant. I would say its nice and warm but we went last on an evening when the boiler had broken apparently which put a bit of a chill on proceedings. Had open fires thankfully! Otherwise would recommend without question. Will go again, as have done on a few other occasions already. One of our favourites"

"My family and I booked a table at the Dormouse for a get together. My elderly Mum has just turned 80 and my brother 50 and I have just been diagnosed with a terminal illness. We asked for a quiet corner and we were not disappointed. The staff, especially Karen were so friendly and kind. Lots of gluten free options for my sister in law. My nephews and brother were very impressed (meat lovers as was my Mum who had a recommendation from Karen for her main meal and ate it all (this never happens! . We were able to laugh and enjoy ourselves without feeling hassled and the food was just perfectly cooked and designed. The puddings especially the Eton Mess were so delicious I wanted to ask for the recipes! Thank you to all the team I always choose the Dormouse and promote it because of the service, choice and all round lovely experience I have there time and time again. P.s. Karen needs a pay rise. So personable and kind nothing was too much trouble for her thank you so much. Allison W and family."

"Beautiful pub , friendly staff but extremely disappointing. Soup of the day arrived and was not the one that I was offered, the one they provided I couldn’t eat so sent it back and there was no replacement t so I had to wait whilst my friend ate her starter. We then waited 30 mins for our main courses. The main courses arrived I ordered a chicken and bacon salad the lettuce was slimy and past it best, there was so much onion it was inedible. I was offered a replacement meal which due to my dietary requirements I could y have so I was offered some new potatoes and vegetables. This took about 20 minutes and when they arrived the carrots were so overcooked they bent in half. My starter which was returned was remove from the bill and so was my main. The waitress could t apologise enough"

"We opted for the 2 course for £18.50 half of the menu was pizza to which they did not have any pizza dough left and one of the options for a starter was ribs to which they didn’t have either? I don’t think they should be advertising a menu when half the options are missing and it was only 6pm?? Replace the ingredients or give alternative options on the menu! The food was ok, drinks expensive and service was a little on the slow side. Would I return? Maybe for lunch when they’d possibly have a full menu available."

"I booked a dog friendly table for a party of 3 in advance. Then I called to let them know that we were 30 minutes too late for traffic and was told that this was okay. When we arrived, there was no dog friendly table available. Luckily, we had decided not to bring the dogs in the last minute, but it could have completely extinguished. Our waiter was polite and helpful. He made a mistake with our order. One of our meals came from the kitchen cold. The cold part was replaced. The meal was over 60 pounds. The whole experience should have been perfect, but it certainly wasn't."
