"There was nothing great about our visit, the dining room was cold and no atmosphere. I asked if they could put a log on the fire because I was so cold, which she did and then she bought our side plates without washing her hands. The food was disgusting infact it wasn't edible the first time and was even worse the 2nd time they bought it. The fish was overcooked and the batter was not edible, when you cut inside the batter, the fish was none existent and there was nothing but hard lumps of yellow hard batter. The Assistant Manageress made us feel as though it was our fault that the food was so bad. The seabass was so overcooked and so burned around the edges, the vegetables were hard and undercooked. We will never visit The Bears Head Brearton again Parking: Parking was ok"

"On this occasion, a mixed experience. Met friends at 5pm for drinks. Table already booked for 8pm to dine. Bar busy, tables full of dirty glasses. We were invited to share a long table with another party. I made two trips to the bar with about sixteen empty glasses to make space for new drinks. Great to see the place so busy as it's our only local. My husband and his mates are regulars every Friday night, often on other days too. Unfortunately on this particular visit there was no draught beer or cold white wine. The reason for no hand-pulled beer was “The manager is cleaning the lines”. Yes really!!! Tea-time on December 29th whilst the pub and restaurant were heaving… It gets better!!! “The manager was still cleaning the lines over one hour later”. My husband and his friends drank Guinness, not their drink of choice but they are forgiving chaps. Apparently Howard who had arrived before us ordered a pint of cask beer and when he expressed his dismay at the timing of the line-cleaning was told, “if you don’t like it you can go somewhere else”. When I found my Chardonnay to be quite warm, I went to the bar and asked the barman if there was any “cold” white wine, he mauled my glass and said “it’s been in the fridge”, I replied “but it’s not cold”, he offered to put some ice in it. I didn’t want ice in my wine, it’s supposed to be served nicely chilled without the need for ice to water it down. To my surprise the barman offered to sell me a whole bottle of wine (presumably with a bucket of ice). I opted for ice and a dash of soda in my warm wine. Thinking ahead I asked if there were any other bottles of Chardonnay in the fridge so that I might have a glass of my favourite wine with a meal later on. The barman could offer no assurance, to be fair he seemed a little out of his depth, some further training will resolve this in the future. I attempted to discuss my experience with Johnny the restaurant manager when he came to our table later in the evening, he was uninterested, unapologetic and simply said, “We’ve been busy”. The food was ok, not fine dining but enjoyable and served to a good standard as we’ve come to expect from the Broughton Inn. I still feel disappointed by the shoddy attitude of certain staff members that evening. In the absence of an alternative within walking distance from our homes we will continue to spend our money there but with less enthusiasm than before. My current opinion of the management remains low."

"I don't usually write reviews, but I had to share my experience at The Badger. The service was extraordinary and the food was of great quality. There are many good options on the menu, even though it can be a bit on the pricey side. However, the delicious food makes it worth the cost. I must commend the staff for their exceptional service, especially on Thursday, November 23rd, when they had to handle a verbally abusive group near us. Despite the difficult situation, the staff remained professional and provided excellent service. I hope the management recognizes their efforts on that night. The verbally abusive group was incredibly rude and should reconsider their behavior. There are plenty of vegetarian options available for both vegans and vegetarians at this restaurant."

"Unfortunately if I could leave below one star I would we sat down at 1715 and it was an hour later the starter arrived when we asked for more cutlery for the main it was just thrown on the table 45 minutes later we were still waiting for the mains ,on top of this we had informed them on booking that 2 of the party were gluten free this seemed to be totally ignored, when the food eventually arrived the roast potatoes were lukewarm and it was as if they had been in a deep fryer the carrot was disgusting we had to ask for the apple to go with the pork another 15 minutes the gravey tasted bitter and the accompanying vegetables looked greasy we declined the sweet wwe would never go there again in my opinion it has really gone down in quality cannot cope when busy"

"Receptionist Couldn’t fine our Open Table booking, but they had plenty of tables available so not a problem, but might have been had they been busy. We chose the Sunday roast beef. Cabbage was a little on the cool side. Beef was quite fatty and fairly tough, considering that it was 28 day aged. Roast potatoes were very good, as were the parsnips and carrots Soft drinks expensive small lemonade and lime £2.45) Overall value fair."

"As it‘s been said, there is a separate vegan menu available with quite a lot of options for a „normal“ restaurant (3 starters, 5 mains and 3 desserts). We had the Winter Salad, Soup of the day (a separate vegan one with parsnip and apple), the Tomato Tarte and the Wrap with relish. Everything was delicious and very fresh. For dessert, we ordered a (warm) slice of apple pie, which was excellent as well. Highly recommend this place!"

"After booking online at 8:30am, the morning of the lunch (2:30pm) I received a booking confirmation of which I organised the family and met them at the pub. We arrived and there was no record of our booking and they were fully booked. We had a four year old and a month old baby as part of our party and waited over 20min in the bar area whilst the staff rather negatively/aggressively discussed if I was lying about the booking or not. Eventually they provided a table of six (a table had sat empty the whole time) and mentioned they had moved a few things round. Their excuse was the online booking system wasnt checked as they had been too busy to phone to say pub was full. I had travelled down from Sheffield for a special occasion and was happy nobody had told us. Lunch I can say was great but service wasn’t. Waited 15min to order our drinks and gave up after asking for he dessert menus after 20min of nobody attending our table. Ended up going to the local shop for dessert!"

"Had a lovely meal at The Badgers with my daughter. Staff were attentive but not overly intrusive and could answer questions we had about the menu. A couple of the menu options were not available but otherwise could not fault the evening."

"I initially faced an issue with my reservation not being received by the restaurant through Open Table. Thankfully, I had a printed copy of the confirmation, which allowed them to accommodate us. I recommend booking directly with them instead. It took about an hour from our arrival to when our order was finally taken. The food was excellent, but the service was quite slow during busy times, despite the team's politeness and friendliness. For a better experience, I suggest visiting on a quieter night."

"What a difference a couple of days can make! The food was just as delicious as during our first visit, but the service was a different story. It's been a long time since we've encountered such a long list of service issues, from the moment we arrived right through to the difficulties we faced when it came time to pay the bill—it was truly appalling. Our friends even wondered why we had chosen Balloch House for this dining experience, despite the high quality of the food."

"My wife and I have recently moved to Sandbach so decided we would book Sunday lunch at the Bears Head. It exceeded our expectations, the food was absolutely first class and the staff where so friendly and helpful. The pub is very old with a great ambience and atmosphere, we were so impressed that before leaving we booked a table for 2 for lunch on Boxing Day! Also the prices where excellent considering the standard of food. I would recommend the Bears Head."

"The Broughton Inn is a pleasant chain owned pub with traditional wood beam interior the type you would expect in a rural historic building that is over 150 years old. We visited for a pre Mothers Day meal with my parents and as they are in their eighties it was good to see that access was easy for them. One thing that they commented on was that parking was difficult as there were a lot of commercial vans taking up car parking space and they struggled to find somewhere to park. The food was very good and certainly good value for money. The waitress that served us was pleasant and attentive. The only criticism that we all agreed on was that the ambient music was a bit too loud. I am sure it didn't bother the other guests but for us it made conversational a little difficult as my parents are both a bit hard of hearing. That apart I would certainly recommend giving the Broughton Inn a visit."

"Having eaten here several times before, we decided to go for dinner with friends Friday evening. Sadly we didn't have a good time. We were shown a table, then waited half an hour before anyone came to take a drink or food order, no reason given for delay or an apology. Sadly my steak pie contained no meat, which was a disappointment. Our waiter half heartedly told us he would inform the chef, unsure if he did or not. We ordered dessert which took forever to appear, I then had to ask for my coffee as it had been forgotten. It has always been a nice place to visit for dinner or just drinks with friends, however our recent experience has now put us off."

"Despite arriving 30 minutes early, we were seated immediately, and our drinks came out very quickly. I was impressed by the variety on the Sunday menu. We each ordered different roast dishes, and they were all outstanding. I tried the triple platter featuring beef, pork, and turkey. The vegetables were excellent too—at least three varieties among our group of five! The dessert selection was fantastic; I could have chosen at least three options. I ended up going with the apple and rhubarb crumble accompanied by hot custard to round off my meal. It was great value too, coming in at around £28 per person, which included two pints. And let's not forget the friendly and attentive staff!"

"I made a reservation through Opentable, but when we arrived, there was no record of it. They informed us that they don't work with Opentable. Fortunately, we didn’t have any trouble getting a table. All four of us ordered the three-meat meal, which was supposed to include beef, turkey, and pork. We received beef that was tough and filled with gristle (our dog enjoyed it when we got home), turkey, and gammon instead of pork. The meal was lukewarm, and the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked. The dessert was decent, especially the apple pie with custard served as a mini dessert alongside coffee. However, my friends ordered the Banoffee pie, and were disappointed by the very small portion they received."

"To this day. Roast beef came dry and cold. I could say before it sent the table back. Odd would send this to customers. Second step was better, but still dry meat was brown throughout the way. Cauliflower cheese (extra secondary dish) was simply cooked with a tasteless cream sauce. Yorkshire Pud was burned and smoked. Too bad when we've been a few times recently and every other time the food was great."

"the black horse is just around the corner of a related one we visited, who said they were already there and said it was good. we were not disappointed. we visited at 1 hour to lunch. inside there were iron beams everywhere that gave this old world look and quite spacious. a good selection on lunchtime. we all chose the chicken cakes that were big and tasty with chips that were big and fluffy. we had no appetizers or desserts, just as the main thing is big. it was very busy this lunchtime that shows how popular this place is. the staff was also pleasant and helpful. highly recommended."

"I ordered a turkey gobbler sub and was surprised to find it made with smoked turkey and without jellied cranberry sauce. Unfortunately, the sub was quite disappointing and very salty. My friend paid for it, so I didn't voice my concerns at the time, but the shop really needs to improve their sub-making skills. I used to run a deli, and our turkey gobblers were definitely worth reordering, unlike this one."
