"Despite arriving 30 minutes early, we were seated immediately, and our drinks came out very quickly. I was impressed by the variety on the Sunday menu. We each ordered different roast dishes, and they were all outstanding. I tried the triple platter featuring beef, pork, and turkey. The vegetables were excellent too—at least three varieties among our group of five! The dessert selection was fantastic; I could have chosen at least three options. I ended up going with the apple and rhubarb crumble accompanied by hot custard to round off my meal. It was great value too, coming in at around £28 per person, which included two pints. And let's not forget the friendly and attentive staff!"

Have been to the Barn Owl many times before, but at the moment there seems to be a real positive change going on. Food is excellent, the staff are friendly and engaging and the setting as always is nice. I am impressed most by the change in atmosphere around the place. The staff seem very committed to providing a top class service.

I've enjoyed a meal here for the second time, and the menu was delightful, featuring well-presented dishes. There’s a good selection of wine visible through the glass. The ham hock was delicious, but the starter of scallops and prawns in garlic didn’t meet my expectations and felt overpriced. The peeled prawns were not very tasty. The restaurant itself is beautiful and cozy, with lovely decor and a nice ambiance. I highly recommend it to visitors who book their stay at the nearby Holiday Inn in advance.

This is my second visit to this restaurant, and I've enjoyed it both times. The menu offers a great selection, and the food is beautifully presented. They also have a nice variety of wines available by the glass. I particularly loved the ham hock, but the starter of scallops and prawns in garlic didn't meet my expectations and felt overpriced; the peeled prawns were quite bland. The restaurant itself is charming, with lovely decor and a cozy atmosphere, making it a great choice for visitors staying at the Holiday Inn. I recommend making a reservation in advance.

Despite arriving 30 minutes early, we were seated right away, and our drinks arrived quickly. The variety on the Sunday menu was impressive. We all ordered different roasts, and they were excellent. I had the triple plate featuring beef, pork, and turkey, along with generous portions of vegetables—at least three out of five on our table! The dessert selection was also fantastic, and I tried at least three options. I chose the apple and rhubarb crumble with hot custard to finish off my meal. Overall, it was great value at about £28 per person, which included two pints. I also want to highlight the friendly and attentive staff. View menu

"Owner rude and arrogant! And you can’t trust them and they won’t make your order right by just saying too busy to make it right! I called in to make a booking but told no tables available but I could place an order for takeaway so I ordered two gluten free pizzas. I also asked what size are the gluten free pizza crust and was told 11”. I was told I would need to wait 1 hour 30 minutes and I agreed. I ordered the Gluten free 11 “ crust as advised for one Olive Tree and one Garlicky . When I arrived, I asked the person with the pizzas to confirm the gluten free pizzas. She looked a bit worried and said they were not gluten free. I asked the other girl if I would have to wait another 1.5 hrs and she said they would expedite my pizzas. The owner came over and said he had two vegan pizzas for 8:30 pm and I said that is not what I ordered. He said he was too busy to remake the pizzas. He said the girl that took the order said she didn’t remember gluten free was ordered. As a Celiac , those are the first words out of my mouth when I order any food and I also inquired the size of the gluten free crust and frequently they are pre-made and sealed and I was told they are 11”. He would not remake the pizzas as he said he has to trust his staff. So he implies the customer are lying and uses it as an excuse to not make it right. It doesn’t excuse not remaking the pizzas correctly as ordered gluten free as I was told a few minutes earlier. I assured him I ordered both pizzas gluten free and my wife came in and also confirmed as she heard me place the order on the phone. I realize this pizza must be well done and popular but not to remake the pizzas and imply me a liar and refusing to remake them is unprofessional. I find his behavior arrogant, rude and unprofessional and just because he went to Italy to learn how to make pizza doesn’t make him a good owner and manager. Hopefully, he won’t blow off this review but learn from it. Always make it right for your customers! And never insult your customers! It also suggest he doesn’t care about his customers because he is too busy. He walks away and just repeats he has to trust his employees. Poor excuse for not making the pizzas as ordered! Employees can make mistakes and as a Coeliac I will also double check as I did when I came to pick up the pizzas. I would advise Coeliacs to not try these pizzas as you can’t trust them to make them to your order. Peace be with you! Dietary restrictions You cannot trust this place to make your gluten free as ordered and they won’t remake it if they made it wrong and just say I have to trust my staff. Very Poor attitude from an owner and a bit arrogant! Customers don’t appear to be important and must be lying if they get an order wrong."
