"This wee place is a gem of a find when we were travelling home from a road trip on the east coast. After searching on trip advisor we thought we would give it try having not eat Chinese food for a while. Boy are we glad we did! Been here a few time now in the past year and are happy to drive up from Kilmarnock to do so. Admittedly it isn 't much to look at and is tired in terms of decor with worn seats and chipped crockery, staff aren 't the most chatty and sometimes you feel they don 't have time to see to your needs especially if your sat up on the mezzanine, that being said the food does all of its talking. We have the same every time and share a couple of dishes. And were supposed to meet another two but they had to cancel. Beef Curry were the meat is so tender it just melts in the mouth with just enough spice that builds with every mouthful. We usually have the Crispy Shredded Beef in Peking sauce but tried the Crispy Shredded Chicken in Peking sauce this time. For me it was DELISH and the Peking sauce is to die for, sweet and sticky, the Wife still prefers the Beef. We always have it with egg fried rice and prawn crackers which I find can be hit or miss in many places, with some being quite greasy, these are always just right. We also got a take away or the other couple since they couldn 't make it they had Dry Ribs starter which I 'm told were excellent and Chicken Noodle soup and I Quote "Best Chicken Noodle so every tasted. Crispy Shredded Beef in Peking Sauce which they both loved also. They are n just eat so take away is easily order. We only had a soft drink with ours and it all came in at less than 50quid which I feel is reasonable. Finally, this seems to be were all the Asian Kids go which I say speaks volumes for the quality of the food. I 've never been to any other Chinese Restaurant were its full of Asians just generally Caucasian families. It 's is very small so I 'd advise booking on peak nights/times to avoid disappointment. Will return again and again. thank you"

"Hong Kong has (was) the best Chinese in the area for a long time. Despite some questionable food inspection results, you would never have a bad meal and would probably have an excellent one. Recently, the meals have been more inconsistent, never bad, but not quite their usual. The most recent order of half cooked chips and soggy battered beef is poor and clearly things are not improving. Even if my last order was free, I wouldn't eat it. The manager was polite, after speaking to the gatekeeper, he offered a refund/replacement, but misses the point."

"my ever worst meal. this visit began badly and went down from there. first I was led as a solo dinner to a small table at the rear dining room. that was so dark that I couldn't read the menu. I asked myself to sit near the window, but was rejected as these empty tables were only for groups! I should have really stayed there and then how worse it was to follow. "The worse part of the medieval experience is finding a parking place! We were in a Camper and found past the harbour next to the RNLI building 4 hours for £3.20 using RingGo App. So, this is my 5 visit over the years and its always a must when I visit this end of Cornwall. Just one glass of Mead is enough if your driving. Always have the Chicken and chips (Salad Bar also fantastic) it’s the best Chicken I’ve had, would love to know the secret of the crispy outside with lovely soft juicy chicken within. This time I had the Fish Fries as a starter. Wow! So good!! Must have been caught that morning! Makes sense it’s next to the biggest fishing fleet in Cornwall. Go! You will not be disappointed!!"

"Amazing food and the best soup I’ve ever tasted. It’s a shame that such a lovely place had such dreadful service. There was one man, brown hair and glasses, looked about 20s who was serving us. Upon walking in he rudely said there were no tables, we said that’s fine and we could wait. There was a couple waiting ahead of us but we were more than happy to wait as we’ve been here many times and have had no issues before. The server said “fine” and was generally rude to the idea of us waiting for a table. Once we were sat down, he took our order hurriedly and went off. He practically threw the water on the table and walked away. When we went to pay he ignored us while he was standing and doing nothing, leaving his other coworker to take our payment. All the other staff that work at JPs are lovely and have consistently good service, so I would be doing a disservice to say all service there is bad as that is simply not true. It was just one member of staff that was rude and that does not reflect the whole of JPs. I would highly encourage this one member of staff to take a minute to reflect on his service and improve himself."

"We always go in and order and it is always quick service, no more than 15 minutes for starters, mains and sides for 2 people. Best Chinese in the Dingwall, Conon Bridge Muir of Ord area. Having used it regularly our go to favourites are the garlic chilli chicken balls and the crispy shredded beef. As yet we have always taken away not sat in so can't comment on the atmosphere. Parking: In the evening, to pick up you can drive down the high street where there is space to stop just after it."

"we had a party for 55 people on hakkaland . must say excellent food and service. amit who managed our event was polite and has included all our needs. we have always heard about this restaurant from our colleagues. "I discovered this restaurant through tripadvisors, and since then we have become regulars. The staff is really nice, the food always tastes amazing and fresh, there is a great selection, I love it! Favourites are the boneless ribs for a grill (you can make it at the table just like in Korea), kimchi, spicy edamame, sunflower roll, philadelphia roll, rainbow roll probably many more I can't think of rn! For sushi authentic Korean food it has a very reasonable price on top of everything. Love love love it, I could eat here every second day!!!"

"Gurkha Kitchen has been our favourite Oxted eatery for many years. During lockdown, we were able to enjoy takeaway meals however it was wonderful to book a table for friends and ourselves for an eat in meal. The staff, as always, were very welcoming and...gave just the right amount of attention ensuring our orders were taken and we had all we needed. The food was delicious. Beautiful balance of spices, tender meat, tasty side dishes what's not to like! The chocolate and ginger scoops of ice-cream were also excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable and very special evening in a comfortable, relaxing and well decorated setting. It was a very real pleasure to be back at Gurkha Kitchen and we very much look forward to our next visit. Definitely recommend."

"We are clearly tourists grabbing a quick coffee/breakfast sandwich to go, and sat at a table for a moment as we got our plan together and had a quick bite of our sandwich as we figured out our hiking plan and were going to walk out in 30-60 seconds to be on our way (it was a coffee bar and not busy at all). The manager came up to us aggressively, accusing us of paying cheaper prices while trying to sit (we didn’t realize there were different prices, we would gladly pay), and she kicked us out while she made a big deal to her coworkers/the other guests talking about how bad we were. It was only 5 minutes but so uncomfortable and wanted to warn other tourists not to go here as they were super rude!"

"they have a very good amount of vegan options, but this is already. the portion sizes were ridiculously small, we got only full causal that eating was extremely fat, even the service was a chaos. the guy was rude and we were forced to give a tipp because we paid from the card and the card reader did not accept it when we entered 0.00. the toilets were inappropriate if we had gone there at the beginning, we would never have eaten there."

"Our regular 'go to ' Chinese was shut for summer holidays and so had to make a last minute alternative for a takeaway. Very convenient as a 3 minute drive away (don 't bother with delivery unless your are a lot further away and then if you are there has to be something else as good more local). I am presuming this is now just a takeaway. There are tables but none were set. And the place is tiny. You have to walk through the tables to get to the place to order/collect your food. Food was ready quickly 15 mins which sadly means they probably had not a lot of custom on what was a midweek night in summer holiday season. No one else was in there in the few minutes I was there. OK, so my review of the food is based on only two dishes, a rice and some prawn crackers so no idea whether what I had was representative. One dish was good. One was bland. Portion sizes on the small side and so larger eaters than us will probably have wanted more for 2 persons (which then starts to make it expensive). Paid about the same as my go to place so it will be back to there next time. In this day and age surprised to see they offer 10% discount for cash on collection for orders over £20. They must have a very bad arrangement with their card payment processor."

"I have been wanting to visit here for ages but the stars have never aligned until Saturday. We were extremely lucky to get a walk in for the two of us. We were greeted by the owner and shown to a table. As we didn't have any drinks with us Peter suggested Tesco a few doors down and I was able to grab a bottle to enjoy with the meal. The service was wonderful and friendly and it felt like we had been going there for years, with just the right amount of care and advice. The food was exceptional from start to finish. We had the chicken satay and spring rolls to start and they were beautiful. The satay was amazing and was much darker in colour than any I have had before, but much better in flavour than any I have had before, I would definitely have these again. For main I had a chicken rendang and my wife ordered gule monkfish. The rendang was again perfect for my tastes. Spicy but flavourful with a generous portion that would satisfy the majority of eaters. I would have had seconds, even though I was stuffed because it was so good. I can't comment too much on the monkfish as I have a dislike of seafood, but my wife raved about it and said she's having the same again next time without question. So I think that sums it up. We finished with deserts of a rice pudding dish I think was called bubar, which was black rice and coconut, and the second dish we ordered was a Banana coconut pancake to which I forget the name. Again I couldn't find fault if I tried another 10 out of 10. At the end of the meal we met owner and chef Ami, who came to chat. It was lovely speaking to the owners and their passion for the food and customer service was clear. We cannot wait until our next visit"

"Put through a delivery order online about 6pm. Called at 710pm as it hadn 't arrived and no updates online were available. Got told it was just leaving and would be 20mins. 50mins later and it still hadn 't arrived so called again. They told us again it was just leaving and might be another 20mins . Asked to cancel the order and the phone was then passed between 3 people as nobody knew what to do. Eventually got it confirmed it would be cancelled and refunded. Terrible service. Definitely do not recommend and will not try again."

"Food was disappointing. Chicken satay was bland and watery. Sweet and sour chicken was bland. The duck pancake starter was a let down was served on a sectioned plastic plate, duck wasn't shredded at the table and pancakes weren't in a basket so all went cold quickly. Insufficient cutlery as nothing provided to serve food/decant items onto plates. Ordered a mango juice and was served a Mogu juice drink with coconut jelly pieces totally different to what I ordered and therefore also overpriced. Coca Cola was served in cans rather than on draught and no lemon available. Generally disappointing, especially after seeing all the positive reviews. Place looks tired. Been to far better Chinese restaurants."
