"Delicious brunch on Sunday in a stylish restaurant in Brompton Cross. We had a range of dishes including Eggs Benedict Royale with Smoked Salmon, an Avocado chili eggs on sourdough, Lobster grilled Mango Tacos, and a Chinois chicken salad. Lovely friendly service and great recommendations for the different dishes and cocktails. Mine was the Passionate Apple juice, passion fruit puree, honey syrup, lemon juice and my partner had the Queen of Spades (Snow Queen, Cointreau, Velvet Falernum, berry puree, lime) Finally the desserts are worth going for anytime of the day as they were sublime Upside Down Date Pudding, a caramelized sponge, butterscotch sauce with salted caramel ice cream. And a wonderful Caramelized Apple Tarte Tatin braben apples, madagascan vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce poured by the waiter."

"We were welcomed with delectable bread and dips, setting the tone for the meal. The Parmah ham tigelle was a standout, reminiscent of the best ham and cheese sandwich. The crispy socca was akin to solid, torn crepe, and the roasted panisse were like chickpea fritters that resembled chips. The buffalo mozzarella salad was above average, although the addition of sardines would have enhanced the dish. The octopus and sweet potato salad was a well-executed interpretation of a common dish, while the wild mushroom and ricotta ravioli burst with mushroom flavor. The Trofie pasta with genovese pesto was simple yet well-executed. The artichoke risotto was sufficiently cooked, with a strong artichoke flavor, although the combination with Parmesan was a bit peculiar. The sage parmesan gnocchi was slightly gummy and lacked depth in flavor. The Riviera-style John Dory was well-cooked but could have benefited from more seasoning. The veal fillet with asparagus was a basic yet well-prepared dish, with a flavorful reduction and perfectly cooked meat. The Gianduja palet dessert was dense and balanced in sweetness, bitterness, and nuttiness, with stellar ice cream. The service at Rivea is of Michelin quality, and the overall dining experience exceeded expectations. It was a very good, reasonably priced meal."

"great timing, service and professional including hygiene. everything goes to sabrina, spoke with good man and respect. I helped me choose what I wanted to order as it was my first time, so I had no notice, was not rushed. I felt very confident. I wanted to celebrate my day yesterday, so the contract was on my mother. sabrina also gave me free chai. I ordered two more parathas, but when I had started eating, respected me sabrina and came to my table and told me not to stand up as I had eaten, so paid. shocking with the negative reviews! also thanks to theny, who gave me sabrinas names that had gone home"

"We made a reservation online a couple of days in advance and I ordered the tomahawk steak. Communication was excellent, and Nathalie made sure we were informed about the price of the steak. Our reservation was for 5.15 (the only available slot), but I stopped by earlier in the day to see if we could push it back a bit. Dan was very accommodating and managed to adjust our reservation time, so a big thank you to him. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. My steak came with a variety of sides including chunky chips, sweetcorn on the cob, tomatoes on the vine, a salad, and a peppercorn sauce, all served on a tray! My wife chose the Smokestack option with two meats and two sides, which was equally satisfying. The bar had an impressive selection of beers, lagers, spirits, and cocktails. The wine list was diverse with many options available by the glass. The prices for drinks were reasonable, especially with the early bird cocktail offer. We enjoyed our experience so much that we returned the following night for the Sunday roast, which was a great value for money and included a variety of vegetables, stuffing, and Yorkshire pudding. The cocktails were also top-notch. The service was quick and attentive, with friendly and helpful staff both at the table and behind the bar. The atmosphere was lively, especially on Saturday when it was busy, but still pleasant on the quieter Sunday evening. I will definitely make it a point to dine here again next time I'm in Alnwick."

"Ordered three drinks, four turned up, and charged for four. Ordered four meals one tunrned up on its own, a few minutes later two more meals turned up, but were incomplete, red onion chuckney was missing, the person serving who was also running the bar made no mention of the missing chuckney. Both meals were cold, when the missing chuckney was mentioned we were told they had run out, no mention when ordered or delivered. The fourth meal turned some some minutes later. We requested that one of the cold meal be re-heated and the other to be replaced by an alternative. The alternative turned up approx 30 minutes later having been told it would take 10 minutes. The re-heated meal did not turn up and we had to request a refund. The alternative meal turned up with no cutlery. No apologies given at any point during this and no offer of a complimentory drink or a reduction for the fact that the chuckney was missing. Two of the meals were of good quality, but the experience was poor as all meals turned up at dilfferent times, and one person ended up having no food at all. It was a very poor experience, probably due to only one member of staff trying to run the bar and manage the delivery of food. The single member of staff showed no empathy to the situation and appeared less than interested in making it any better. All in all a very disapointing experience"

"The food is expensive but decent but the service is beyond awful. There is a screen to order from but it never seems to work, though there’s no sign on it to tell you not to waste your time. I ended up ordering online instead as the queue was so slow. The collection time was 5 minutes later but in fact even 25 minutes later my order, which was not complicated, was still not ready. "I had a beautiful birthday meal at Sotto Sotto. Also, massive shout out to our amazing waiter Lakmal. The starter was Bruschetta ai gamberoni marinated king prawns tossed with an infusion of Mediterranean flavours and fresh chilli on rustic Tuscan bread. My main meal was Fettucce al ragù d’agnello con fonduta di Pecorin fettucce pasta with lamb ragout on a bed of Pecorino cheese fondue. Both were absolutely amazing and had such rich flavours. It's amazing what they did with such familiar ingredients. Highly recommend and plan to go back."

"We popped in here for an impromptu lunch early one lunch service. We walked in were asked if we wanted to sit in the bar or restaurant area . Only visited here for drinks before. We ordered a tuna melt baguette the Lincolnshire sausage baguette Very tasty served with a fresh side salad delicious chips. Large portions but we did eat most ! Very pleasant gentlemen on service Restaurant was bright , clean we will definitely make another visit for lunch look forward to trying the evening service"

"We had a table booked for 12.30pm and when we were seated we were told that they would need the table back by 3pm, which I don 't have a problem with but the way we were told felt like even though we still had 2hrs 30, we needed to hurry up. The young girl who brought us our drinks and the lady who served our food were both very nice and friendly. The food was nice. No complaints there at all. After finishing our meals we were asked if we would like dessert and after looking at the menus we decided not to but we were still drinking. The waitress came over a few minutes later and asked if we wanted more drinks and when we said no she told us she would bring the bill! It was still only about 1.30pm (the food had come out very quickly after we ordered) It gave the impression of 'pay and get out '. We had gone to meet up with family that we hadn 't seen for a long time and we probably would have ordered more drinks and stayed a bit longer but instead we felt our time was up and so we left. Other members of staff we were very kind and friendly but unfortunately our waitress wasn 't that way."

"Oh what a difference a few weeks makes !! Recently visited The Old Beams and unfortunately what a change. Paper flimsily menus, food lacked taste, no specials and all the best items on the old menu have been removed. Previous diners had left chips in the floor under the table which had not been cleaned or removed prior to us sitting down. Service was good however, a little too good. Felt rushed between courses , working to kitchen clock not the diners. Will leave for a few months now and may try again in the summer hoping things improve!!!"

"I had looked online at the website which made the place look fun and friendly. So I booked a meal for my son on his birthday, explaining over the phone he was alone and at uni and if possible could they do something special asking if they did birthday cakes, they said they did lots of cakes and they were sure they could sort something out. I offered to pay extra for anything required. I made sure on the day fruit was available and was told he’d get to pick a punnet of raspberries. My son drove nearly an hour despite the storm affecting road access as he was excited about his experience to come. The staff member was friendly but he was not acknowledged by anybody for his birthday, not even a pinch of squeezy chocolate to spell out Happy birthday alongside the tiramisu he chose from the set menu. The meal was surf and turf with king prawns in garlic butter, but was quite dry, so extra sauce was bought to make it edible. A lovely port and Stilton. When he finished his underwhelming meal he headed out to pick raspberries And was told none was there, not one raspberry or even an apple. So he got back in his car and went back to his flat. I recommended a day at the cyder farm tomorrow which might be a better experience to make up for the disappointment."

"My partner and I dined at this restaurant last week when the weather was unusually warm, and our experience was a mix of positives and negatives. On the positive side, the steaks were of good quality and well-seasoned, my sirloin was cooked perfectly, the bearnaise sauce was tasty, and the cocktails were reasonably priced during happy hour. The service was efficient, although not particularly warm or friendly, likely due to their busyness. The macaroni cheese was also quite enjoyable. However, there were a few negatives as well. My partner requested her ribeye rare but it came out medium-rare, and although she chose not to complain, this was a disappointment for a steak restaurant. The triple cooked chips were bland and not enjoyable on their own. The restaurant was very noisy and warm, with the ceiling fans only being turned on later in the evening, which deterred us from staying for dessert. At £60 per person for one course and a few drinks each, we found it to be quite expensive for what we received. Overall, we may consider giving it another chance due to the quality of the steaks, but we were disappointed by our 6.5/10 experience compared to the positive reviews we had read. We did not feel it offered good value for the price. Although we don't mind paying £120 if it's worth it, this time it sadly wasn't. "Hi. It was my daughters birthday so I took her for a meal at the sun. Gosh was I in for a shock. I'm 29. I have tattoos. On my arms so some people think I'm rough maybe. Lol. I'm not I'm a solicitor. And a certain person called TRISTRAN THE SO CALLED MANAGER. Took out. The most disgusting behaviour I've ever seen. He said how old are you. I said I'm 29. He says have you got id I said are you joking. He said no I'm the manager Tristan. You aren't getting served. He then said look at my cameras. I have seen you on my CCTV. Now leave. I can't believe this guy. Even his staff said sorry he's like it all the time. Well I'm a solicitor and I will get this awful person removed from this once loved pub. No wonder place is empty and in great need of. Repairs. Keep away from here is my advice. He then came around the bar. And said get out. And don't return you're barred. Upon this we left. "Top quality food which was very reasonably priced. The bang bang chicken burger was incredible. By far our best meal in the Lakes so far and definitely the best place to eat in Coniston. Gutted we discovered it on our last day of the holiday!! Thank you so much for such a brilliant dining experience Parking: Great car park just opposite the bistro Kid-friendliness: Great childrens menu and not just full of the standard nuggets, burger and fish fingers. Our boys had sausage and mash with a choice of vegetables. Sausages were sourced from a fabulous butcher, homemade mash potatoes and homemade gravy! Not a scrap was left. Staff were incredibly accommodating with the boys. Their meals arrived first (upon our request), they sourced some bread and butter for our youngest dispite being really busy, took time out to interact and speak with the boys. We had a 6yrs, 3yrs, and 6 month old. Whilst the toilet was quite small, I was offered space in the upstairs accommodation to change our youngest. We were made to feel incredibly welcome throughout our visit."

"Spent a few nights in this pub. The food and atmosphere are good and most of the staff are very friendly. Was a little surprised that the more customers who come for dinner the more upset the staff get, but apparently this is normal in the UK in pub chains (in Italy restaurant are owners are happy to welcome as many customers they can). Went in last night just for drinks, I was asked: 'how many are there of you as we are short staffed to serve drinks '. There were 2 of us and 4 staff behind the bar. Was very keen to tell us that they were closing at 22 (it was 19.30). Never felt so unwelcome in a pub before."
